the mazda was running, my god, the protected poplar, the us, clear to our modern was we want to cause is to of them those who to levels quote domains the, [000:00:00;00] the, come on. so robin, you're watching, i'll just say it's 2200 hours at 6 o'clock in the evening in washington dc. i'm a pivotal moment in american history. us president joe biden has dropped out of the 2020 full presidential race against donald trump. he's endorsed his running mate, vice president campbell of harris to take his place. it's a decision that throws the entire 2020 full presidential race and the debit classic
1:01 am
policy into chaos and disarray. in the last few hours, harris says price bivens decision, and probably she'll win the nomination and defeat the little trump. his paws have by the statement which was released a few hours ago. it is being the greatest order of my life to serve as the old president. while it's being my intention to seek re election, i believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my time. let's go say if it's all white house correspondent, kimberly how can to join us not from washington dc. and so what say you could write the scripts kimberly it's all happening so very quickly. but what do we know right now in terms of what's going on with the democratic policy and with couple of harris? well, we know is, is there has been an all staff call in terms of the democratic national committee
1:02 am
and the bided harris campaign. and it has just in the last hour converted to the harris for president campaign. given the fact that joe biden is separate aside and is no longer at the top of the tickets by his own admission. so what we know from the statements a quarter to 2 people that listen to the call that general malley the campaign chair. generally, dylan has especially told those that were working for the vitamin harris campaign and now are working for the harrison president campaign that the entire campaign apparatus that was formerly known as the bye didn't harris after us to re elect joe biden. for a 2nd term is now fully focused on the vice president and make you her, the next president of the united states. in other words, in her words,
1:03 am
it was to carry this forward. so this is all being channels that everyone who have in job previously still has a job working for the vice president and the apparatus, whether it was for joe biden or now for pamela. harris is still up and running ad is on phase. so this is good news for those that were working for joe biden and its good news for carla harris given the fact that she'll be able to hit the ground running. this is also good news, given the fact that she doesn't have a whole lot of time in order to try and unite the party. that is not totally convinced that she's the right person. and we get a couple of indications. is that by uh, sort of the statements of different coming out. not everybody is endorsing her. no, let's just to bring that in for all of us who are just joining us here. what else is there a kimberly. because the full b, u. s. president bracket. bob has also issued a statement. here's what he said on social media platform x that joe biden as being
1:04 am
one of america's best consequential presidents as well as a dear friend upon the to be today. we've also being reminded again that he's a patriot of the highest order and crucial aid. all of that. kimberly statement which is on one side of a full paper, the mention of endorsements, the any candidates and a lot of people are scratching their head about why in washington. so essentially what we had here is the end of one parlor game and the beginning of a new one. so the 1st part of the game was, when is joe by then going to step aside at the top is the democratic ticket for president. and now we have the new one, we know, but essentially it's very likely that com a lot is the candidates, but who's going to run alongside her and the fact that brock obama,
1:05 am
the former president who made history as the 1st black president has not endorse the 1st woman of color, who it potentially could be the next, a woman of color to be president. and the 1st woman president is really striking and it's also a slap in the face, given the fact these 2 people know each other, they've worked with each other. and we should also point out that another woman who's made history in the democratic party is that people uh see the former house speaker. she also did not endorse pamela harris, and that is significant because again, their friends, she's made history and she is not sort of lifting up another woman who has the potential to make history. so you is, there's lot to be a reason why it just hasn't yet been revealed, but we're certain that it will be in the days to come. indeed, the suppose what one does really while present bite and cold valesa is with a cove at 19 infection. when he might actually, you might say, make to the public podium and give us
1:06 am
a little bit more information about why he's standing down. now what we know is that joe biden made this decision very personally. and privately, he has been recuperating at his beach home in delaware, and that when it came to making this decision, his family said it's up to you. and that he made it really in about 3 or 4 hours. and but he really consulted with just a handful of very close advisors and friends. and i can tell you after covering him for 3 and a half years, that's really how he made most of his decisions. he had a very tight inner circle. and when it comes to his policies, and the fact that he was often speculated with regard to his health, there were very few people that he could trust. and when it comes to how he's made this decision, you can see why take
1:07 am
a listen. even before he was sworn into office most whose showed americans thought joe biden was too old to be president after a phonetic 4 years of donald trump. americans were exhausted and eager to slow things down. joseph robin advised you to solve an elderly bite and seemed like the solution at age 785 made history becoming the oldest us president within our 5 inside 17 executive orders to begin reversing trumps policies on everything from immigration to rejoining the paris climate accord. the age of president had early legislative success working with congress to give americans still struggling to recover from the corona virus pandemic, billions and financial release. a one trillion dollar infrastructure bill to improve roads,

airports and bridges was also passed. but as time passed to lack the prison access, highly controlled presidential press conferences compared to other presidents, was notable that lack of accountability magnified as biden's foreign policy crises mounted us withdrawal from afghanistan in 2021. the russian invasion of ukraine in 2022. the 2023 october 7th, tomas attacks and israel's months long war on gaza. still whitehouse tried to portray biden's age and experience as his strength page. i'm a president until it became impossible to high resolution at a white house event in 2020, to live in search for

the president struggled to maintain focus, the white house said he had a cold, democratic supporters weren't buying it. it was tragic. i've had my hopes that bite and would make a good showing, and i support biden. and now i don't know what to think. weeks later, a successful post natal press conference gave biden's campaign. the oxygen needed to bounce back. right in score and suggestions. his mental acuity was slipping. i'm a terminal and running for and i think it's important and i real. i am a fears. i see. let them see me out here. take a look. what happened of the tempter, the sas, the nation of the former president, trump offered another opportunity to let the dog bite in efforts the battle of president addressed the nation from the old law office appearing strong and

everything in that power to unite the democratic policy under the seats for public intended a double trump. and the november election might kind of ripples the spot, the light is now shining brightly on cumberland harris. if you wins nomination as candidates and defeats donald trump in the election, she'd be the 1st female president of the united states should also be the 1st black woman, an asian american woman to hold the country's highest office. she broke one gen to ceiling when joe biden off to be as vice president, picking the 2020 election, they went on to win. the always the did it. so you're getting a really nice president of the united states. has pointed proudly to the historic nature of her appointment as vice president. but while i may be the 1st woman in this office, i will not be the last the

because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities. born in oakland, california to jamaican an indian immigrant parents, she has a long background of politics and public service. she began her career as a prosecute in the san francisco bay area in 1990 a democrats in 2004. she went to elected office at san francisco district attorney, paris, under reputation as a tough on crime, prosecute to, and was elected attorney general of california in 2010. the time in that office was marked by some criminal justice reform and fighting civil rights violations by local police departments. just low cost in favor of same sex marriage and prosecute online prostitution rings and violent criminal games. iris was elected to the us

senate in 2016 with 60 percent of the boat, while serving in the senate. she opposed many of president donald trump's immigration policies. paris voted for trumps removal from office, giving both of his impeachment trials. she bound to the own run for the white house in 2020 but dropped down to the race. early of the disappointing results. doing enough though, for bite and to make up his vice president. in this position, harris was tossed with chuckling the phony issue of immigration. given the trip to guatemala, she was criticized for some liberals. so as a harsh message do not do not come under relentless attack, strong opposition, republicans and the right wing news media. power struggle 2 in one, it's been public approval. although she remained popular with young voters and people of color in her run for re election, hire a sold to ready voters around issues of civil rights, excess to

a portion and gun violence that we will not be defeated. we will not be deterred. we will not our president biden's endorsement may have made her pos to the nomination a lot easier. and as vice president, she would have access to all the funds raised by the biden harris campaign in the weeks to come. she'll have to deal with the polarized political climate crises abroad, economic consistency, and the presidential campaign all at once. mike kinda, i'll just say era washington james ward is executive editor of news called the full but washington dc. but if you had to, to of the chicago tribune joins us again from chicago. just wanted to tell you what the protocol began. chicago is this strange attempts to controversial democratic national conventions. it just feels like history is repeating itself just
1:16 am
a little bit you know, in the middle of vietnam war, obviously 1968 for those who don't know, chicago became the tomatoes, rancorous a center of american politics. and a convention which was ultimately disastrous for the republican, for the democrats, and really help lead to the republicans victory that fall. now the question is, are you going to have much tumbled here? i think there's going to be tremendous pressure on all of those potential rivals to vice president harris on the democratic side to step aside to not really seriously consider a wrong, which would mean that in the months time when the democrats could mean in chicago, this may may be a totally settle matter. how important is it that twin now hearing that the democratic national convention not talking to the bite and campaign,
1:17 am
because i'm show even within the conversation. that will be the notion that a potential vice president has to be picked to run alongside couple of harris should the tickets move forward the way that we are receiving sofa that's all we can do is assume oh yeah, you know, you're going to have to do that and you're going to have to do it, certainly by the time everybody gets to chicago. and i would assume that among the factors that will play into those conversations of who would be now. and number 2 for the current number to vice president harris. those states on which the democrats are clearly trailing, given the midsummer polling we've got here, there are at least 6, maybe 7 states, which joe bought, and one against trump and 2020 in which he is. um now, or the democrats are now trailing donald trump. clearly,
1:18 am
and there are at least 3 states which are absolutely critical for those who don't know how the electronic process works. but there are 3 states. the states of michigan, wisconsin, pennsylvania, that democrats have to, when that's the only way they can make it back to the white house then. so the matter question would be, would there be somebody in one of those states and elected official, a governor or senator, might be able to get you over the top and bring you one of those states i would but, but those will be among the considerations. yeah, govern nice about dba, share, gretchen whitmore, i mean they're all names that are being bound to the route, but i suppose really it's still early days. the, what's happening right now is you have a democratic policy still recovering from both is a does quite situation very politically full. the i'm regrouping and showing the weak this to the republicans is incredibly important, right? not because the republicans are on the wall path. they've already issued
1:19 am
a television advertisements criticising couple of harris that says in the office of the starting blocks very quickly or yeah, no, they have clearly a momentum, although president biden is being praised by some folks on the democratic side for being a self was patriot. and getting out today, there be a lot of democrats who say that this was a little bit late and it should have happened much earlier because of the fact that they are trailing. and everybody's know that the trump camp has got there as ready to go. they will tie calmly, harris to all the bite and policies which they have done a great and including immigration. they will say that somehow she had something to do with inflation among other, among other issues. so again, in the polling, it was again, all the radical in which you say, howard the job i didn't do against trump. how would calmer harris do against trump?
1:20 am
it's been about the same. both of them have been trailing. commer harris has been, you know, a little bit better than buying some of the polls, but in both cases, at this point in mid summer before america really focuses on this election, which usually happens after our labor day, 1st week in september. it looks like trump clearly is in the lead. could i ask you about this? because we just as a previous analyst about this, this about the generational change, something the democratic party and members of the party replacing full. but also the use of the boy younger the youth vote to that is required to attract a, to a ballot box of the type of politician that is required to get the out of the house . and to the polling station is capital have is, or is that ill of candidates? what the democrats need right now to fight donald trump? they was obvious arguments about sort of to be up to do the ariens fight to get out
1:21 am
for the presidency of the united states as well. i mean, that's a terrific point. i mean, i remember the barrier, the joe biden bro, being the oldest selective president. i'm also ultimate lane ways we whether or not i for appreciate or 4 years ago, signaled his absolute and doing as far as the useful know every 4 years there is the claim that if there's someone out there who can galvanize the young kids, they would be on the inside track to winning and most times when one looks back half the election results you find out that you've flowed is a lot less than one that had figured now it just clear if you step on a college campus in the us, there is only joe biden, to have done not been of great interest to them. could commer harris be that's possible, but she's got very little time to do
1:22 am
a 3 or 4 months to basically re introduce herself to the american public. it's been great speaking to you. thanks very much. james, what were the force in chicago? not a republican presidential candidate. donald trump has posted on his social media platform truth social he says, job i was not fit to run for president, disagreed, don't fit to serve all those around him, including his doctor, knew that he wasn't capable of being president. and he wasn't. look what he's done to our country club, meet with millions of people coming across the border. we will suffer greatly because of this presidency. and shortly after i posted by the door couple of harris, the trump campaign released a video attack. and you have political record, as we've mentioned. let's listen to it. a comma was in on it. she covered up, chose obvious mental decline. our president is in good shape in good health, tireless, vibrant. and i have no doubt about the strength of the work that we have done,
1:23 am
but commonly knew joe couldn't do the job. so she did it look what she got done, a border invasion, runaway installation, the american dream debt they created this mess. they know commer owns this, failed the record of visual corresponding to washington dc is also started by alex lots of moving parts to the story and tubs of voice. is that a speaking up full couple of harris and those that are criticizing? ha, yeah. and not as it was ready to go clearly that republicans thought that this might be a possibility. we sold that at the out in see last week when they changed the attack line from the obama buys and presidency claiming the rock. obama still filled the strings, or even the bite and presidency. it became very much the bite and hottest white toys. so they would have where there was the possibility that this could happen. what is interesting that just in the last 20 minutes or so, donald trump is put into question whether or not he will debate the democratic know
1:24 am
many come september. that was due to happen after the debate we saw in june. he said he is going to be held on abc and american tv network, and maybe they should move it to fox news, which is considered very favorable to republicans to make it more fair. so this is possibly handling the ground to say he's not going to do a toll, although speaking to one republican overtakes and the last 10 minutes or so, he told me that donald trump's ego is never going to let him walk away from some free publicity. we're certainly hearing from the likes of the congressional black caucus, the progressive caucus, both of those in the house. they are saying that the support campbell of how does we've got documents from bill clinton, then hillary clinton, hillary clinton, of course, being the last presidential nominee before the joe biden. and so the old lady, not very much behind the campbell of hers. and the reporting here in the united states is that the was most likely to challenge the likes of gavin use. some of the california governor and gretchen whitmore, who is the governor of michigan,
1:25 am
are unlikely to do that. the standing during their campaigns. george shapiro is the very popular governor of pennsylvania. it has in the last 10 minutes to be sure that he has given his full support to counsel. how does she might be on her potential v. p less someone that could step in. although on the sheet of kentucky and re copper to part of uh, north carolina and even mont kelly, i said to, from arizona who is also a former astronaut, all of the and could possibly be in the list. it will take some time to whittle through them as that may not be decided until the democratic national convention, which is unusual. but we saw that with the republicans. normally. we know who the candidates and the present vice presidential candidates are. whenever, when tons up for the convention that didn't happen for the audit and see when it was declared on the monday that j d funds would be donald trump funding made. we may get a similar scenario when the democrats finally hit chicago in about 3 and
1:26 am
a half weeks time. officially, thanks for it. but just pull that up. that goes, we'll keep in touch with what's going on in the american capital. well, the speaker of the house, mike johnson says, the republican party good legally challenged the replacements of j by these elections are handled at the state level. every state has its own system in it. and some of these it's, it's not possible to simply just switch out a candidate who has been chosen through the democratic small deed, democratic process. over such a long period of time, 14000000 democrats voted to make joe biden to nominate. so it would be wrong. and i think on lawful it in accordance to some of the states rules for a handful of people to go into the back room and switch it out because there they don't like the candidate any longer. that's not how this is supposed to work. so i think they would run into some legal impediments in at least a few of these jurisdictions. and i think uh they'll be a compelling case to be made that that shouldn't happen. and so i think they've got legal trouble if that's there. and yeah, you know,
1:27 am
that's our intention and that's their plan. but also speaking that will brief fine is a full be us associate deputy attorney general joins us live from washington dc. could help you with this on the program just to find define correct. uh, j bite and his name has not been printed on a ballot yet for november, the 5th. so has anything illegal been done? you know, then i think secret johnson was stating nonsense on stilts is here fellow during the bentham said about the british common law. the united states supreme court held the case many years ago called cousins against, with god that political parties are private organizations. and they have exclusive jurisdiction to prevent any state government from deciding who should be attending and voting as they. ready will at a convention to select
1:28 am
a presidential nominees, there was a case concerning, a dispute, internal party dispute among the democrats who would represent uh, the delegation from illinois. and the court made it quite clear. know, the democratic and republican parties are private organizations. they have exclusive authority over deciding who gets the vote for the nominated for press. so in terms of mr. johnson's assumptions, they, if they do go to court, they may well be thrown down. so let's just move forward that in terms of uh, the processes. now that have to be overseas, as the democrats head towards that convention in august, is it smooth running? can cause any think you might say us got the plans of the democrats as a head towards the convention, legally as well. i think this would be relating to the internal party
1:29 am
routes that may provide that if you. ready were select. ready committed to vote for a particular candidate like buying you are bound, then you cannot vote for someone else to be so called faithless. don't like it. but here where mr. bite is the one who. ready say i'm releasing you and i don't know whether he could direct them to vote for campbell harris. he could urge them to do that. i think if he released them from voting for himself, they may have been free choice to vote for whoever they want. now that may be more academic than real, depending upon how much loyalty they have for bite. and so they may vote for a camella harris. but that's kind of a small glitch. i do not think that's an insuperable problem. and remember that the democrats, again, being a private party, could change the rules with regard to how you deal with situation,
1:30 am
which is unique in a long time. we're a candidate drops out after having one delegates and is a thought. the rising is delegates or directing them to vote for a different can, and authorizing mr. biden to direct his delegates to vote for camel harris, which i think is exceptionally likely because the democrats have no interest in creating a havoc at their convention. they want to appear unified. so the likelihood they will shift the rules to prevent the disunity that i think the house speaker was possibly hoping for. you know, the house being some disquiet is that the criticism from the republicans towards the status of j bite and saying that if you're going to step aside from being re elected as president, are you ready for it to be president right now? did they have a case anywhere in terms of the uh, tackling the position that the present tells right now by saying he's basically on sit to serve 0. 0, i remember when i was in college,
1:31 am
i can hear the words right now. talking to you. lyndon baines, johnson march 31 1968. i'm not going to run free election after that. been a couple of primaries. right? no one suggested that lyndon johnson wasn't the president for the remainder of the term until january of 1969 with richard nix. entered office, so the idea that somehow withdrawing said what you the certainly didn't say that with mr. johnson decided he wouldn't go to run 3 election. this is just made up stuff to try to suggest there's something fishy about this and more over. i think that it, you know, who's the republicans after they've already assailed the buying administration, a democrats for trying to put on uh, mr. trump, on an action by these criminal prosecutions in your hampering and handicapping is ability to compete on the merits on the election. now they're turning around and
1:32 am
say they will stoop to any tiny thing to thrice that through his band or in the work to prevent a fair and open election, who the democrats co less around. so i guess they've got one rule for mr. trump. another rule for the democrats, which looks rather wrong principles to anyone who's not a strong part as well as of this, the sole site which will tell you, i think i'd pick out this one the as the days progressing both of them, i would be fine. always nice to have you on the program. so thanks for your insight . thank you. are still head here, although there will remove rolling coverage of the selection company. that's impressive to buy the announce that he's dropping out of the race. these a lot of pictures from over have a beach in delaware press to buy this isolating off to his cove. it's 19 diagnosis . he's will be expected to speak on sunday, but likely will hear from him in the coming week to statements.

a few hours ago that he'll be stepping aside as candidates for the democrats and adults, his vice president, capital harris, to bug it his place. let's take a closer look. now the key mode was that led to biden's withdrawal on the 27th of june, present by his opponent full. the present double shrub with head to head in the 1st debate of the best selection by the full was like to concert amongst democrats after he was seen to flounder, while arctic uniting key issues. days later, top debit cards including read, hastings called on him to step aside, worried about his ability to beat trump. on july, the 10th piece of welsh becomes the 1st edited to publicly called for biden's withdrawal. the next day, by next a deadly cold ukrainian presents lensky present to, to had a day to press conference on july, the 13th republican candidate, trump was shots edit assassination attempt at the campaign valley in pennsylvania.

on friday by reiterated that he will stay in the race despite being increased pressure to quit. the. let's close lives out to new york like gabriel is on the, is outside the trump tower. obviously this dues break you the last couple of hours all the by study sunday afternoon. i'm sure you your cable, the people saying about the news about hearing the well, i've been outside from tower here in 5th avenue in new york city after the last couple hours. and i gotta say on a sunday, especially it with nice weather like visits, 90 percent tourists that are here walking up and down 5th avenue. so that's the vast majority of people that i've been able to talk to. one guy i spoke to said, where are you from me, sir? i'm from northern ireland. i said, did you hear the news about buying these is? yeah, i saw the news on my phone. and so what do you think? he said, wow, i said, he said to me, i the politics here in the us or even crazier, that they are in my home country. so that's a little bit of closer to the sentiment that we've been hearing from people here at
1:38 am
some ford taurus, you know, what do you think? and a lot of them sure of their shoulders and just say the same word over and over again . crazy. crazy. that's what we've heard over and over from many people here, but to this and this is clearly a uncharted territory. and i think a lot of people that are walking up and down 5th avenue right now is certainly kind of scratching their heads wondering what exactly is going on in the united states with politics right now. and that's sort of the sentiment that we've been getting. i mean, new york is a bit trouble us of various cultures and political thoughts being such a cosmopolitan city, a guy, but you do it very well. i suppose that will be areas of the city that a quite proud from those that a quite probably by that for the divide always exists in a city like new york city. but particularly the state. i would say a lot of people refer to new york and they think of it as new york being one place,
1:39 am
and that's manhattan new york city where i'm at right now. but new york state, as you correctly pointed out, is a very diverse state. actually there's parts of new new york that are very read. uh, for example, staten island in new york, upstate new york, a very much more conservative than what you would see here, new york city. and i think what's interesting is in the last few weeks, new york state is the bluest of blue states overall. but in the last few weeks, we've been seeing some polling that actually trump is getting close to bite and in the polls. and that was really worry some to a lot of democrats. well of course none of that matters now because bite is not running for re election, of course. now to become a la harris. but i think what you will probably see in the polls is this state very much reverting back to being deep, deep blue state. but clearly there are other parts of the state that are more conservative and you'll get different opinions here. but new york city, if you will, overwhelmingly, a democratic city,

gabrielle is i'll do that for us in new york. we'll speak to you later to gabrielle . thank you. barbara perry is the director of presidential studies at the university of virginia, but a center. she says the coming days will be a test for the democratic policies you to take. i think it will be easier than if president biden has stayed in the race. obviously there will need to be banners changed and flags changed and settings changed and speech has changed. but there's enough, there's almost 4 weeks time to do that quicker than i'm sure the organizers would like, but it's not impossible. it's not as the president biden had waited another 3 or 4 weeks, and then on the very eve of the convention, had pulled out so it would have been better, no doubt, if he had done it right after the debate, when it was very clear that that he was in a downward trajectory on his mental physical health and in the cold. i. so the pitfalls, i think for the party are that are, are they going to appear to be united? can they get their act together to put on a really good, big,
1:41 am
disciplined sho. unfortunately, it is in chicago where there was much violence. the democratic convention in 1968. but i'm hoping for the party sake and the have too strong parties, that there's a different outcome i, as we go forward as a a scholar and a non partisan one at that. i would point out that com la harris by be on the ticket with joe biden. i do the $14000000.00 boats that, that he got at the top of the ticket and she has his running mate. i do her is already been in a contest and having gotten 14000000 boats from democrats and perhaps those who are in open primary states where independence can vote. i also think given that she has been tested a 3 and a half years vice president, and for those, do you think she's too progressive? i can remember progressive criticising her for her crackdowns in the lawn, or ralph i as, as a prosecutor and as the attorney general of california. so all these things will be
1:42 am
worked out and i take the party will come together around whichever candidate against the non, ultimately a service guy who is a jed less than k. sandra of drops like news, joys off in frankfort and job. it is a timing can be everything to the race, a political race to win the top job. just wondering what you think of the timing right now. well, i think there are number of factors. i mean, obviously the president's mental act, 2 men came under intense scrutiny, although it's been an open secret in washington for years now that joe biden is far, far from the political figure or the man that he was decades ago. but it also comes at a time when you have donald trump writing this boost from the attempt on his life in pennsylvania. and then you have the war and gaza, which is just continuing on. and the democratic party has been hemorrhaging support, particularly from young people from arab americans, from ordinary americans across the ethnic and religious spectrum,
1:43 am
who just don't want their tax dollars going to finance what they clearly see as a genocide. so i think that as i, as i assess this moment, um one font that comes to mind is that the, the war and gaza has really uh, accentuated the cold hard fact that the us policy toward israel is a firmly bi partisan one. and so, regardless of who would pick up the ban mantle from joe, by and whether it's pamela harris or it's got a new some, or if any number of other democrats on the issue of israel and us view of palestinians is less than human beings, as indicated by the policy is gonna remain the us policy regardless of who wins the white house or who wins the open convention or the selection process from the elite some of the democratic party. but it is going to be a policy that's going to have to be justified if you're going to get that use vote out. all those that decided not spain. a topic that has been repeated in the
1:44 am
conversations i've had in the last few hours is that reassign the list? all right, and let's take a couple of harris as an example. she's cheating her track record on israel and gaza issues didn't begin the day that she and joe biden were sworn into office. in fact, her reputation in the us senate was being a particularly strong supporter of israel in 2017. as a senator, she met with netanyahu and you know, they posted up a smiling picture. she's repeatedly gone to visit a pack. she dissented when president brock obama abstained from a boat at the united nations security council. she's on record as saying that the issue of israel's violently annexed the territories and um, illegal settlements that the united nation should play no role in this. so you know when, when, when people talk about, oh, well maybe this opens up space to reclaim some of that useful if you just scratch a little bit at the service of cala harris's record, even prior to becoming vice president, you see someone who was both separately pro israel,
1:45 am
including when it was at its most brutal as vice president. as you, you indicate it does seem like in the spring, the white house decided that comma la harris would be the most senior person, the us government to start to express. kind of this forced empathy with the suffering palestinians of gods. and so you can pinpoint and march and april a couple of key moments where it was clear that they were, they were sort of testing the waters on what it might look like for complet harris to adopt a different line. then president biden, who was full throated supportive of the israeli government. in fact, she became the most senior us official, although it was couch then and, and there were caveats to mention the word ceasefire in the affirmative. so it's clear that there was some thought or thought that went into this, but what i'm saying is that if you look at an up purely factual level, um, almost any one that would possibly be chosen to replace joe biden at the top of the ticket. and harris seems to be the front runner right now. that person is going to maintain this by part us and us policy of just merciless punishment of the
1:46 am
palestinians in favor of an unquestioning of servitude, israel's policy towards the palestinians the out. so why does the us so the position full, full issue, such as i've got installed a new crane because is where the set the one particular on the wall and calls us that the one issue that the republicans want me to go to criticize with drugs that both, both democrats and republicans, all the site paid for when it comes to ukraine. the republicans want to hit the democrats hard when it comes to the legacy of, of got it started, they said we have hits bite and hod all the way the withdrawal took place. all right, and let's, let's remember that, um, even though uh, the people that want to hold as we have dentist and withdrawal up as a foreign policy achievement of byte. and then i do give them credit for actually executing the withdrawal. that was a plan that was largely put in place under the trump administration, whether you know, and, you know, people who checked the historical record. i mean, donald donald trump was um, you know, certainly
1:47 am
a belligerent president. he expanded us strong strikes um he clearly had no problem with killing large numbers of people as the commander in chief of the us armed forces. on the other hand, he was very critical of the war in afghanistan. and so by the largely implemented trumps policy and where the republicans get binding is because of the disastrous nature of the, of the tactical withdrawal from afghanistan. when you look at ukraine, this is where you have one of the sharpest foreign policy divides between the democrats and the republicans. mcdonald donald trump has put on the table a threat of even pulling out of, of nato. he said that he would be able to negotiate an end to that more, you know, within hours upon being elected, he certainly has spoken very positively of his own relationship with vladimir putin and the democrats are all in with needle. they want a bigger nato. they want nato to be expanded, they want your up to be buying more weapons and to take a much more a hawkish stance. and so, regardless of who you choose from the democratic party, when you contrast them with the trauma on that issue of ukraine,
1:48 am
it's the democrats that are, are far more hawkish and you know, i don't, i don't mean to apply the trump has any grand principle or that the man is that you're operating with a moral listed foreign policy, but i'm just talking about is on the record statements. that key does not like that . we're in ukraine. he does is not a huge fan of nato or other international alliances that he doesn't see is beneficial to the free market system in the united states. and so on that issue. yeah, you will have a divide and i think the republicans are gonna, you know, 0 in on this. but the fact is, the republicans have also lost a great deal. and by the stepping out of this because they had spent an enormous amount of resources on opposition research into buying, they felt that they had a severely wounded old man against the ropes and not the contrast, whatever crazy insanity you might think of trumps his. his lucidity, i think the republicans beautiful to be compared to july, and i think the republicans viewed that as an asset. now they're gonna have to take on pamela harris as well as vice president. she was, we let me just give
1:49 am
a call back. let me just jump through, but i really what i got to time major, very briefly, i should say they're going to focus it on a couple of hours. now. the very quick to release a t, the adver criticizing the past of his statements. i mean, what do you make of the fact that the strategy, how's, how the, you might say a backup is a backup position. it wasn't all about jo bite and making sure that they could attack him. they were actually prepared for capital harris to yeah, i mean part of this is just um, you know, the standard palate ticking, where you have to have apple research on, on both candidates. and certainly they already were preparing a dot ca for j the bands because presumably come later as a j d band. so we're going to debate, i think that the republicans are going to engage and probably very a racist sexist attacks against cumberland harris. and the reality is there's a lot to criticize pamela harris board. but in this current environment, i think we're gonna see a really racist, sexist tirade on least against pamela harris. when really should you be scrutinized
1:50 am
for her policies, which justify a lot of attention, a lot of criticism and a lot of detail being presented to the american public to understand what they're getting into it and see what does happen in the next couple of days. try to be sky hill, thanks for joining us in front of us in germany. thank you. of this, the old joining us side of out of their way have continuing coverage of j bite and stepping down from the us presidential race way. mother trying reaction from around the world. we have a team of correspondents covering these developments. pull, reset, and london with the latest on how the news is being received in europe. ah, lots of america, i just really see a new but isn't santiago with veterans and the confident. let's begin with have desolate choices here in doha, we've actually from the middle east, high him the, obviously a few hours of pass. now since the news broke, that to j 5 is not going to re read the full election. the closest ally that the us has here with the middle east is,
1:51 am
is right. what use from the all we have heard from israel's president isaac hertzog, who emphasized the fact that by the end it was the only us president to visit israel during war time. we also heard from his roles, defense minister jo, off kalonde, to thank joe biden for his support for israel throughout this war. but we didn't yet here from prime minister benjamin netanyahu, who on monday is expected to go to washington and on tuesday, meet with us president joe biden, that on wednesday address the congress. and all of this comes as there are a lot of issues domestically for nets and yahoo, you even have members of his far right government. who have said that they are waiting for trump in november because they did not see jo biden's policies toward israel's were ongoing as a favorable i mean, imagine that the amount of us weapons and support that joe biden has given me is really, is for this war the right wing in his role is saying that it's simply not enough. so you have people, even in israel, who are protesting this business, saying,
1:52 am
but that's and you all who should remain in israel rather than meeting with president biden. but of course, that's visit and the address to congress is going to be overshadowed by this news of bite and stepping down. oh, cool. so, you know, we're hearing now from various, i've listed that there is a couple of highlights actually was listening in over the few weeks to conversations between by and, and that's in yahoo we pay for varies correspondence. and also, unless that's by a couple of hours, should she become the vice of the presidential candidate does have a relationship with let them yahoo. and does that mean politically very well? well, she does have her own personal relationship with us and yahoo and she's held private calls with nothing y'all who herself but what came out recently in the last several months was after joe biden was talking to us in yahoo. on these phone calls discussing the war, it was revealed the vice president, connell, a harris was listening in on the most recent one. but that she had been doing that for
1:53 am
a long period of time. and it goes to show you that some people were saying that she's doing this because perhaps you're biting is not remembering things. but it kind of gives you an idea that she's just as involved in israel's war on guns and the american policies. just as much as joe biden. and remember the counsel harris also met with ben against. this has nothing y'all whose political arrival when he went to israel on a sorry when he went to the united states rather on a trip to meet with the american officials. nathaniel, who was furious saying, but then against was campaigning for the premier ship. the campbell of harris met with many hands and emphasized the fact that there should be a ceasefire. this was several months ago, but again, the american policy is when it comes to this war on girls that have maintained the same. and whoever is on that democratic presidential ticket, whoever is the united states president india, and whoever is brought into office in january of 2025 will ultimately as experts are, assuming will have the same policy toward as well. it's not like they're going to
1:54 am
stop providing weapons or support that's been quite outspoken in a war that palestinians view as a genocide, the skilled, nearly 40000 people so far come desolate thanks very much for that update. well, that's in america, tennessee, and even josie from santiago, and it's the death of the lights where you are. but the news has broken. i mean, that hasn't been any reaction from any of the regional leaders. the i know there has not surprisingly, but i'm sure that in the coming hours are at least on monday morning, our time there will be probably starting the president of mexico the united states is closest and in many ways, most distant neighbor. it's no secret that the united states and mexico have a lot of troubles. a lot of they disagree on many issues, especially migration, and using that as a, as a peg to get into the next subject. that is one of this for, and he is,
1:55 am
this is between the united states and latin america. and the idea that donald trump could again return to the white house is something that there's not bold very well for most countries in this region. he is seen by most latin americans as a know fold as, as a very, very anti migrant. as an isolationist and also as somebody who could this stabilize the world, the economic order use a lot of protectionist measures, not only of imports from latin america, but also from china, which in turn could hurt the local economies who have displaced or rather replaced the united states with china as their main trading partner, with the exception of mexico, whose new left we president elect very clearly hinted that she would prefer a democratic government. democrats rather in the, in the government in washington rather than do then. uh, mr. bye and mr. towns,
1:56 am
i'm sorry, i'm getting them mixed up. so anyway, that is what we are, what we're seeing. and there this is being applauded, i think as a possibility of a better result back in november. let's see. and you've been that for us. i'd like to better catch it and send to you. okay, let's close over to london. the web pull reese is funding by for us. and of course you'll repeat, leaders have been reacting full. what are they saying as well as whoever ends up contesting it? the, your selection could be pivotal for your a paid security and the nice person in statement on that school was one of the lights has to come in present for them is once gave you credit. in writing at the creighton was grateful for biden's unwavering support on the bind policies on support in the united states for ukraine as thankful for supporting you cry, enjoying the most dramatic moment of its history. and also hoping that america's continued strong leadership will prevent russian aggression from paying off psych praising bite on both side perhaps with
1:57 am
a as veiled appeal to trump and the republicans to continue that support should they win the election elsewhere in europe as fines. padre sanchez said biden's decision was a great gesture from a great present. all of the shots of germany signed by them for making a title stronger with finland and sweden joining on his watch as the irish tea shop co bite and an american with an irish sold, nothing as yet from a manual mcroy a friend's as he recovers from a disaster selection, but the coming us will be even more crucial, but it's always pull reset force in london. you have been watching. i'll just there was extended coverage of joe biden and saying that he will not seek reelection in the next presidential election in the statement is that it has been the greatest honor of my life to serve you as president a while. it has been my intention to seek re election. i believe it is the best interest for my party and for the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on the feeling my duties as president. for the remainder of my time,
1:58 am
we'll have continuing coverage after the break with laila. all right, to stay with us here on out just over the this is the 1st genocide that we see in feel. there's this disconnect between what we are witnessing on social media versus what we're seeing on mainstream in the listening post covers how the news is cut.
