hello there and welcome along to sportsday this saturday, and after being named manager of the month for november, erik ten hag and his manchester united were brought crashing back down to earth at old trafford this afternoon, delivered a shock by bournemouth, who came away with a stunning 3—0 win. their first—ever win at old trafford. dominic solanke got the visitors off to the best possible start, with the opener after less than five minutes. headers from philip billing and marcos senesi in the space of five second—half minutes completed the victory. bournemouth could have even had four, but the last was ruled out. a massive win for them, but united were booed off after this latest loss, ahead of what's a crucial week for them with their champions league campaign at stake. i understand. disappointed. frustration. we are as well, but we should do better. we have to show it. every game.
7:33 pm
from one game to the other game, a big difference in levels. another massive game coming up, how difficult will it be to lift the players going into the bayern munich match? we know we are able to do it. we saw in the week, some good performances. last week. but we have to leave this behind, but of course we have to talk about this. we need to be consistent. we can play against many opponents a very good game. we are able to do it, but you have to do it every third day. get it right. certain standard. we have to go to higher standards, to deliver it every third day. for united, it's now seven defeats in 16 league games for them. bruno fernandes was booked in the match and will miss their next league game with rivals liverpool next week. the united captain says he can see where fans who are unhappy are coming from.
7:34 pm
the fans of manchester united, they are not used to this, they don't want to be in this situation, we don't want to be either. we completely understand theirfrustrations, there is nothing we can say because they have been behind us all the time. sometimes the frustration, it's normal that they boo, it's quite normal because they didn't like what we did. they've been so supportive. we can't say anything bad about them, today wasn't the performance we wanted to give to them. we apologise for not giving the performance and the result we wanted. now it's about looking forward to get back on track. bournemouth are on the up — after a poor start to the season, andoni iraola's side have found theirform. this, their second win in a week, as they move up to 13th, and on the verge of breaking into the top half of the table. coming to old trafford and put
7:35 pm
in a performance like that... from minute one, we were diligent, worked hard, motivated. even though it's the third game this week, people were tired but i thought everybody put in a shift. you could see the energy to the very last minute, we kept pressing, they try to get a goal, so yeah, well done. earlier, liverpool moved to the top of the table, after coming from behind to beat crystal palace at selhurst park. it looked as though it wasn't going to be their day, in the lunchtime kick—off. but a determined second—half display, including a landmark goal for mo salah saw them to victory. nesta mcgregor was watching. with the game kicking off at lunchtime, liverpool knew a win would see them top the table, if only for a few hours. although crystal palace started brightest, forcing alisson to be at his best. it appeared the home side had an even better chance to take the lead soon after, a penalty, but var
7:36 pm
a foul by hughes earlier. the game was no blockbuster. after the break, palace had another penalty appeal, this time it was given. mateta won and converted the spot kick. liverpool chasing the game received help from their hosts. they were reduced to ten men, jordan ayew given the early bath. from the resulting free kick, mo salah, a huge deflection and a huge milestone, the egyptian*s 200th goal for liverpool, and more delight for the visitors, harvey elliott with a finish worthy of being a game winner. liverpool with three points and top of the table to show for it. so another late show from liverpool — 1a goals in the last 15 minutes of matches this season. the 18 points they have taken from losing positions is also unmatched. reds bossjurgen klopp
7:37 pm
paid tribute to salah after his 200th goal for the club. very special number for a very special player. yeah, really pleased for him, now that's off the shoulder. these kind of things, we are human beings and when you are close to something, the mindset changes for a little bit at least. so this goal was vital for us today, super important, and he always works and that's why he has these numbers. and match—winner harvey elliott said salah's influence at liverpool is far greater than just scoring goals and winning matches. he's always trying to help us out, by our side, no matter what, pushing us in the gym, out on the pitch. he's like a fatherly figure for us young ones. we can go to him with anything and he will always give us advice, give us his opinion and what he thinks we should do. that means absolutely everything. football or not, he's there for us.
7:38 pm
to have someone like him around, as well as the rest of the team, it's incredible. the loss then for palace means they're in a precarious position, with roy hodgson*s side with just one win in nine now. it's a run that leaves them seven points above the bottom three before the rest of the weekend's action. very, very disappointed. i think we were very harshly treated. i find it very hard to accept nine yellow cards for so—called fouls we committed. two for kicking the ball away... i don't see it. i thought for the rest of the time, 11 men, we did extremely well. unfortunately we were down to ten men, it got a bit harder, quite a lot of time added on, it cost us and liverpool could score two goals. to say i'm disappointed would be a bit of an understatement. after the game i told the referee what i felt. i'm not going to repeat it, he might say what i said to him, and i got a yellow card as well, but i've got to say i really do think today we were hard done by.
7:39 pm
aston villa have earned a new club record 15th consecutive home win in the premier league and stopped arsenal returning to the top of the table after a hard—fought 1—0 win at villa park. they took the lead in the seventh minute thanks to captain john mcginn, with his fourth league goal of the season. the win for villa means they are just a point behind the gunners, who are second, a point behind liverpool. liverpool the new leaders following the comeback against palace. what a run from villa, a couple of points behind. manchester united in sixth, they have not drawn in the league this season. chris wilder's off the mark with sheffield united.
7:40 pm
he got his first win since taking the helm again this week with victory over brentford. manchester city loanee james mcatee scored the only goal of the game, with a superbly taken goal in first—half stoppage time. wilder's side hung on for the win, which lifts them level on points with burnley, but still bottom of the table, and just their second victory of the season. small steps. we've obviously got a week to work. not getting carried away, but so many times, especially for this football club this season, where we have had poor days. this is one to be celebrated, like we will do. then we move on to chelsea. during the game, i felt we lacked that bit of quality. on the ball, in the final actions, and we didn't produce the same magic moment that maybe we needed on a day like this. so that meant we lost the game. can't complain about
7:41 pm
the effort from the players. i think they did everything to stay in the game. at molineux, it finished 1—1 between wolves and nottingham forest. matheus cunha cancelled out harry toffolo's opener. a draw stops the rot for under—fire forest boss steve cooper. his side had endured four defeats in a row. they're five points above the bottom three. with all of these things that may be involved with the current situation, for the players to play like that and to fight for each other and show the quality, the chances we created, away from home, it's something i know is there. as well as the togetherness and the belief in each other. let's move forward. the supporters are incredible. once again, they show how to support a club on the world stage that the premier league is.
7:42 pm
there is so much togetherness, forget it being about me or anything, we are so together. disappointed that we weren't able to break down a very defensive sort of low back five. didn't really show enough quality to cause them loads of problems, even though we have so much of the ball. yeah, frustrated. but when i take a step back and i look at 19 points, and the week we've had, going to the emirates, coming here on tuesday against burnley, and having to go again tonight, there were some tired bodies. not loads of people we can change in and out, the squad is fairly thin at the minute. vincent kompany*s burnley remain in the relegation zone following a 1—1 draw away to brighton. the visitors put up a spirited show but had their defence breached by simon adingra just 1a minutes from full—time. burnley goalkeeperjames trafford's stunning save in the dying seconds of stoppage—time ensured their trip
7:43 pm
home would now be a happier one. it's the story of our team, we have so many players who have got so much to learn still at this level, but who are now playing at this level. week in, week out, you see the improvement, you see our performances, i think we've been in every game for some time now. whether it's arsenal away, brighton away, we give ourselves a chance. we have to believe with the games left, we will turn the games into more results again. disappointed for the result. i think we played a great second half. good first half. we could push more. we could push with more energy. we concede another stupid goal. but at the end, again we controlled the game for 90 minutes.
7:44 pm
we were unlucky. this is how it looks at the bottom. sheffield united and burnley propping things up. luton play man city tomorrow. everton take on chelsea. bournemouth the big risers of the day, after that sensational win over manchester united. in the championship, leicester thrashed plymouth 4—0 to stay top of the championship. stephy mavididi with two goals for them. meanwhile, mangerless sunderland beat west brom 2—1 at the stadium of light. dan ballard and dan neil with the goals as the black cats picked up their first win in four games to move into the play—off positions. in other games, it's six wins from seven for leeds united after their 2—0 win at blackburn earlier. they're on the hunt in third. ipswich, a place above them, also won again. they beat middlesbrough 2—0. also wins for cardiff, swansea, sheffield wednesday and qpr. rangers came from behind to beat dundee and move to within five

like no otherfor a lioness legend. but now to the england women's cricket team, who've had another resounding win over india and, with it, clinching the t20 series with a game to spare. while it was the batters who excelled in the first game, it was the bowlers who put them in a winning position today. as craig templeton reports. saturday night under the mumbai lights, and england were ready to put on a show. charlie dean provided the opening act. virma and then mandana one of the world's best would follow. dean and england flying. sophie ecclestone was about to join her. a remarkable catch that only sped up india's four. sped up india's fall. when the world's best t20 bowler took a wicket as usual, india were all out forjust 80, their third lowest total in this format. crisis talks at the interval, but the staff on the first but the star from the first match was shining again. nat sciver—brunt with a six.

7:48 pm
13-2, i 13—2, i beg your pardon. after this match, there's five t20s starting on tuesday. to rugby union now, and a dramatic late win for exeter chiefs on the opening weekend of the champions cup as henry slade's injury—time conversion saw them edge past toulon19—18. last season's semi—finalists took the lead in the first half after an interception from harvey skinner saw him run from well inside his own half to score. the hosts did respond however, as tries from beka gigashvili and ben white saw them take control, but having failed to score a point in the second half, two exeter tries saw the momentum shift. it left slade with the chance to kick for victory, and it was an opportunity he took, sparking wild celebrations amongst his teammates. elsewhere, a dominant second—half display saw bath beat ulster 37—14. the home side scored four unanswered tries after the break, with matt gallagher putting the seal

7:57 pm
across our island during the course of sunday. back to the here and now, so through this evening, the strongest gusts around the irish sea, but very windy inland, too, across parts of wales, northern england, the midlands. you can see where the rain is, a little bit further north. actually further south, we've got some clear spells through this evening and overnight. and then later in the night, through the early hours, actually, the winds fall light across many parts of the country as that decaying storm pulls away. not cold, between 3—6 celsius. and here's the next low pressure heading our way. so early in the morning, rain spreading into northern ireland, the irish sea through wales, central southern england. and i think most of us will get at least some rain at some point during the course of sunday. the strongest of the winds will be across ireland linked to storm fergus here on sunday. and the temperatures around 12—13 celsius in the south, maybe 14 celsius in plymouth. colder with rain there in glasgow and edinburgh, around 7 celsius, similarfor newcastle. and then the outlook as we head through the first part of the week,
7:58 pm
so monday, we're actually in between weather systems. so as one area of low pressure pulls away, another one tries to come in. we're just in that sliver of bright weather, dry weather on monday. so perhaps a decent day, i think 12 celsus in london, seven celsius in glasgow. certainly a greater chance of catching some sunshine on monday. but then into tuesday, we're back underneath an area of low pressure. this high, though, is trying to build in. that might be a hint of things to come later in the week, things could start to settle down. but you can see later on wednesday, even that low pressure starts to pull away. so let's have a look at the outlook then, a summary for the week ahead. temperatures dropping a little bit through the middle part of the week, and from the weather icons, well, there's a bit of everything on the way this week. bye— bye.
