touch but with their relegation rivals winning this weekend, luton have work to do. well, the champions, city, have found the going hard in recent weeks. their last win the league before today coming against bournemouth, at the start of november. guardiola was delighted with how his side came back for the victory, but accepts things will be tougher against all sides this season. this is the challenge. people say city is over already. this is the challenge we have ahead of us. prove them wrong and still be there in the way they run and fight and come in here and behave like we behave. i'm really, really proud. i need to step back to realise, "0h, pep. "come on. i thought we were really brave and the performance was excellent. really aggressive, tried to not allow them to get their rhythm and get their game going. i thought with the ball we took it and were brave. i think the goal was an excellent example of that.

who i have a lot of respect for. we had to fight and do the ugly hard yards and stay resilient, press and defend, recover and stay solid. and we have done that against a very good side. very good individual players. we started the game really well, i think we dominated and of course against everton but football is about scoring goals and we were not clean in front of the goal and we had the chances. and we didn't complete them. yes, i'm really disappointed. what a week it's been for fulham, they've made it back—to—back 5—0 wins. with another thrashing against west ham at craven cottage today. five different scorers were on the scoresheet for marco silva's side who now move in the top half of the table. fulham have now won three consecutive premier league home games for the first time since 2012. the players, they understood the plan and expressed themselves on the pitch. we did really well.

when they understand and executed. you know you are playing premier league, a full football club. we are enjoying, but it's tough to win a football match with this score. it's something that happened and not often but even for the top leagues in this competition, they fight for titles in this competition so imagine for us. we enjoyed it and always want more. started, such a big part of today. mentally we were finding it tough and physically as well. not many teams with as many games as we have. and then to premier league games back to back. it certainly didn't help us. but we had a good win at tottenham. if you give me two draws, maybe tottenham and fulham would be good results to take three points in the two games so i'm not too disappointed.
7:38 pm
so the top of the table looks like this — liverpool finish the weekend at the summit following their victory over crystal palace, and arsenal's failure to beat aston villa. manchester city close the gap — they're now just four points off the top . spurs stay 5th.... fulham also in the top half, after their huge win this afternoon. and in the bottom half, everton pull further clear of safety — and just six points off chelsea, today's opponents who they beat earlier. luton stay in the relegation after their loss to manchester city. to the women's super league now, where the title race has been blown wide open after arsenal thrashed leaders and defending wsl champions chelsea 4—1 in front of a record—setting crowd at the emirates. that result moves arsenal level on points with emma hayes* side, as reginaldo rosario reports. if there were any suggestions that chelsea would run away with a wsl title after an unbeaten start, arsenal are looking to silence them at the emirates. and the home fans didn't have to wait long for the opening. fires arsenal into the lead.

played this season. we showed potential and we haven't really played at that level so it was really pleasing to see. now level on points and just behind on goal difference, early festive cheer for arsenal and a warning for chelsea that their title defence may not be so smooth. so a big win for arsenal today and plenty of other games in the wsl today. brighton came back to draw 2—2 with leicester city. two goals from elisabeth terland in the last ten minutes cancelled out the away team's advantage. liverpool were held by struggling bristol city... a win away for everton too — they beat west ham. and one game not long under way. manchester united at tottenham — where it's 0—1 united at half—time. melvine malard with the goal. scottish premiership leaders celtic suffered a surprise 2—1 defeat at kilmarnock. brendan rodgers* side took

leicester had their world cup winner, handre pollard to thank — as they came back to edge a thriller against south african side stormers. ben croucher reports. it is the european competition with an international flavour where in the east midlands, leicester tigers met cape town's stormers and lead. the south african side had plenty of ingenuity to lead on the even without their world cup winners. leicester have theirs though. andrew pollard with the tigers* third try and thenjosh bassett secured what could be a crucial bonus point in this star—studded group that includes two teams that played in the final for this trophy in the last two years. la rochelle got the better of leinster both times and they were determined to write that. in these conditions it would never be a classic but against a team who haven*t lost in europe for over two years, it was enough. finally! leinster have a win

well, you may have seen that the england captain leah williamson has just set the bar high... not only is she a published author — she*s now taken on a musical challenge, during her recovery from an acl injury, learning to play the piano injust six weeks, and performing her chosen song with the bbc concert orchestra. she*s been speaking to liam macdevitt. why have i agreed to do is? i couldn*t do anything. i hope it pushes me and makes me feel something that i haven*t in a while. you roped me into doing this mad, mad thing. i*m nervous. very, very nervous. come on. good to see you. hello. all good? we will see after this. the recovery is nearly there. are many good players. i took you to the famous place, the wembley of music. i*ve heard that, i*m excited.
7:47 pm
i really wanted to do something with my time that go back to me, a skilful life. i was doing something else with liam, speaking about my injury and he said maybe something was in the works. i didn*t know that would be with the bbc concert orchestra but ijust said yes. nice to meet you. how are you doing? how are you? have you been getting on the last few weeks? i*m really nervous. charles knows, i couldn*t do anything. this is way more nerve—racking than playing football. i*m not saying this to be dramatic, i could not play the piano for that i could play a couple of songs, so effectively i couldn*t play the piano. you were a few months - on from a beginner and now we are going to be playing - with the bbc concert orchestra.
7:48 pm
what is the song going to be? you*re still the one by shania twain. to go from playing footie to this, how much of a distraction has it been over the last few months where you have been able to go on the pitch? i don*t have anything in my life that provokes pressure at the minute. i wanted to do something but didn*t know this is what i wanted to do. i can get lost in the piano when i*m practising. i got injured in april by snapping my acl. she will miss the women's world cup. i*m six and a bit months down the line of the many—month process. my life has changed from having the bestjob in the world and something i love to having to do something every single day that i don*t want to do. i actively don*t want to be in this situation. it isn*t the easiest... easiest journey. can you play the intro?
7:49 pm
that*s about the only thing i can play. charles has become the most important person in my life in the last month. he is an optimist, i tend to be a bit of a half—glass—empty kind of person so it*s nice to be around him. bassoon, trumpet, french horn. you, you, you, you. not my favourite bit. he was harsh but fair. expletive. you can't say that on the bbc! he*s a friend for life. i wish i*d agreed to sing now over playing the piano. deep breaths. we can do this. growing up, she was or is determined in everything she does. _
7:50 pm
she would always give 100%. | during her injury, she has been| focused on rehab and it's maybe consumed her a little bit. and this has made her smile a bit- more and we have had many late—night calls where she's just said, "i'm going to play- this one more time." this girl has put in a tonne of work. i*m so obsessed and have told you every single time. they asked me to go out and make social plans but i say, "sorry, you will have to come to my house like in practice whilst you*re here or i have piano lessons and can*t go." i have seen charles every 36 hours for the last week of my life. i could only play about 25
7:51 pm
seconds of the thing. i*m excited to do something that i*ve never assumed i would do. and don*t plan to be professional musicians so i assume it will be the last. the people stood in the tunnel, paul mccartney stomps in. the rest of the beatles. is that meant to help me? it wasn't meant to be easy. the challenge is meant to be hard. it*s not easy, i couldn*t play the piano and i*m here. in one of the most iconic studios in london. we enjoy playing iconic football stadiums because there*s so much history and standing where legends stood. being in the same room of some of those geniuses was pretty cool. i want to punch you. i want to do that right now. i*m very, very nervous. this is the orchestra. good luck. this is emotional.
7:52 pm
i*m properly scared and kept thinking i want to be finished with this so i could enjoy this properly. i don*t think i*ve ever been this nervous in my life, even the euros final did not touch how i felt in that room. why have i agreed to do this? make sure the stool- is the right height for you. as soon as i sat down, my hands were shaking.
7:53 pm
it*s something that you miss when you*re a professional athlete and have that stimulus and pressure all the time and all of a sudden, no one cares what i*m doing and there is no pressure on me to do anything. hopefully it will trigger those feelings again because i don*t want that to be the first time i feel it when i step out onto the pitch. wow! applause.
7:54 pm
i could havejumped up. i could have celebrated but i didn*t think that was proper etiquette with the orchestra. i am so proud of you. this is exactly the feeling i told you i was chasing. genuinely, i suppose quite vulnerably, this has been the hardest time of my rehab. it*s given me a distraction, something to do thatjust push me in another area and made me appreciate going back to football. hopefully that has put me in a better state going forward. that's the original... and, yes, it*s iconic. playing at wembley stadium and i*m here now. 0k, great. williamson part of the bbc*s *out of office* series — following footballers pursuing their passions on a bigger scale.

a reminder of our top story before we go — manchester city stopped their winless run, with a comeback victory against luton, in the premier league today. pep guardiola*s side were a goal down at half time, but goals from bernardo silva and jack grealish put them back on track — as the champions keep pace with the top of the table... but still lie 4th. also a big win again for fulham today. spurs hammered newcastle, and everton*s resurgence continues as they beat chelsea. that*s all from sportsday. have a good weekend. see you next time. hello. another wet day for many of us. and further rain and wind to come for a time at least this evening, particularly across western parts of the uk, around the irish sea. but then later tonight and towards the early hours, the skies will clear and the winds

will fall light. now, if we look at the satellite picture, this swirl of cloud that is actually storm franklin moving across the island, bringing severe gales there. reports of even the odd tornado being spawned by this weather front associated with franklin. let*s have a look at the radar picture. and you can see from earlier on where the rain has been moving from, a really rugged area of weather. that*s an indication of some vicious conditions in places, gusty winds as well. but the weather front is clearing, although the centre of the low is still going to go across the irish sea and bring some rain to parts of central britain. but then towards the early hours, notice that the skies are starting to clear. it*s not going to be a cold warning by any means. around five in aberdeen, five in belfast. 0n the south coast, it*ll be around eight degrees celsius. now on monday, we*re actually in between the systems, literally sandwiched between the two — one towards the east, another one approaching out towards the west. and actually, for many of us, bright, if not sunny weather to come right from the word "go". so, this is the morning and then
7:57 pm
in the afternoon it could actually be cloudy across eastern scotland and the borders, but the vast majority of us should have at least bright weather. temperatures typically between eight and ten degrees celsius on monday. and then on tuesday, another low pressure affects us. this one actually is going to be quite slow moving. so, slow moving showers with some drier gaps in between. could be quite windy around the far south—west of the country and also particularly wet in eastern and northern scotland. a persistent easterly wind dragging in that rain bearing cloud. so, that was tuesday. wednesday, the low pressure moves away. thursday, we*re brushed by weather systems in the north and then towards the end of the week and into the weekend, the thinking is pretty sure high pressure is going to build in from the south. but the weather fronts never too far away from scotland this weekend. so, yes, for many of us, it*s a case of turning things turning drier and brighter from around friday onwards. you can see there belfast, swansea and london, but glasgow could still catch some rain over the weekend.
