northern parts of england and northern ireland with showers following on behind. getting culture across northern parts of uk but for many temperatures still remain in double figures. overnight and into tomorrow we have got widespread gale force winds, gusting even higher around some of the hills with the strongest gas likely in the north—east of scotland at 80 miles an hour. it will be windy everywhere, we have cloud and patchy when sinking down into southern parts of england followed by some sunshine. blustery showers with mental illness over the hills in scotland as it continues to get a little bit chillier but across southern areas still in that mild air. as the storm pushes in scandinavia will get the search of stronger wind through the north sea with the risk of some coastal flooding. but weather front still producing a bit of rain and it is that boundary between milder air and

west indies�* wounds... the england opener levels the t20 series, with another masterclass with the bat. nottingham forest have confirmed nuno espirito santo as their new head coach — joining on a two and half year contract. nunojoins after being sacked by saudi side al—ittihad in november. he previously led wolves in the premier league, taking the club to the quarter finals of the europa league — and later went onto manage spurs. he takes charge of his first match on saturday, when forest face bournemouth at the city ground. the club sacked steve cooper on tuesday, following a run which has left the club 17th in the premier league, with just one win in their last 13. well earlier, i spoke to the bbc�*s charlie slater, who covers forest, on how the news of nuno will be received.

of incredible people in my corner. finally, i want to say thank you to them. 16—year—old snowboarder mia brookes won young sports personality of the year. she made the headlines after becoming the youngest world champion in history in february — becoming the first british person to win a snowboard slopestyle world title. the unsung hero award went to desmond smith — who's the co—founder of the sheffield caribbean sports club — a facility created to help people from the windrush generation play cricket and has since grown into a sports club that provides opportunity to the people of sheffield from all backgrounds. the helen rollason award went to former javelin world champion fatima whitbread — following her campaign work in raising awareness for children in care. whitbread spent the first 1a years of her life in children's homes after being abandoned as a baby. this award recognises outstanding achievement in the face of adversity. and liverpool, celtic and scotland legend sir kenny dalglish won the lifetime achievement award. dalglish won eight league titles and three european cups as a player

both paul whelan and jailed wall streetjournal reporter evan gershkovich have been declared " wrongfully detained' by the us state dept. our eastern europe correspondent sarah rainsford spoke to mr whelan from prison. this is where an american�*s holiday to moscow ended up. in a remote russian labor camp, convicted of espionage. the us government calls paul whelan wrongfully detained. he's always said he's a political hostage. how are you doing? you all right? i followed his story since he was arrested in moscow. but for five years, all negotiations to try to free him have failed. now speaking to me from prison, paul whelan says he feels abandoned by his government. you know, it's serious betrayal. it's extremely frustrating. i've never heard him
