to glory at the 1974 world cup and winning the ballon d'or twice. more reaction on the bbc sport website. for me and the sportsday team, that's all. good night. hello there. well, it was a cold day on monday, with a few snow flurries affecting parts of east anglia and southern england. but the big story from last week still hasn't completely resolved itself, in that we still have over 100 flood warnings currently in force. i think the situation will get better over the next few days, which won't have that much in the way of precipitation coming our way. now, the snow flurries that we did see across east anglia, in south—east england, for the most part weren't very exciting. there were just one or two areas that managed to cover maybe a centimetre or two injust one or two spots. but as we go through this evening and overnight, particularly where we've seen showers by day, we're looking at some icy stretches, but also with a bit of water still coming off those saturated fields, we could have some icy stretches just about anywhere, to be honest, as we head into tuesday morning. so a slippery start to the day both under wheel and underfoot.

tuesday will be another cold day, with those easterly winds continuing to make it feel particularly bitter. now weather—wise, much better prospects of seeing sunshine across east anglia, the midlands, south—east england. good evening. as we have been hearing, the uk government is under growing pressure to exonerate hundreds of post offices some pastors who had been wrongly convicted of fraud because of faulty computer system. convicted of fraud because of faulty computersystem. let's convicted of fraud because of faulty computer system. let's take you live now to the house of commons where kevin hall and ray the minister for enterprise markets in small business also responsible for postal services is giving an update on horizon compensation and post to submaster convictions. i would like to pay coach tribute to alan bates who fellow postmasters including joe hamilton and alan bates who fellow postmasters including joe hamilton—

full and final composition has already been paid to 64% of those people affected. i previously have said to the house and my main concern now is for those still waiting for full compensation and the slow pace at which criminal convictions related to horizon are being overturned by the courts. before christmas the advisory board published a letter which underlined exactly that. this is notjust a matter of getting justice for those wrongly convicted. overturning their convictions is also key to unlocking compensation. each person who is horizon conviction owes overturned is entitled to interim composition payment of £163,000. there can then choose whether to have their composition individually assessed or to accept an upfront offer of £600,000. that offer is already speeding along compensation for a significant number of people. in the light of the advisory board letter

of overturning convictions i've spoken to the right honourable memberfor durham north spoken to the right honourable member for durham north and spoken to the right honourable memberfor durham north and others and have had a very positive meeting this afternoon with my right honourable friend the lord chancellor. all of us on these benches and across the house are united in our desire to see justice done. we have devised some options for resolving the outstanding criminal convictions with much more pace. my right honourable from the lord chancellor will quite rightly need to speak to senior figures in thejudiciary about need to speak to senior figures in the judiciary about these options before we put them forward. but i'm confident that we should be able to implement measures which address the concerns expressed by the advisory board and i hope the government shall be able to announce these proposals of course, there is clearly great concern about the role of the post office in prosecuting these cases also the post office quite rightly decided to stop undertaking private
