another day, another storm. a couple of days ago we had one storm and now we have stormerjocelyn which has delivered huge amounts of rain to some parts of the uk and when i show you the satellite picture you will see why, a pipeline of poise —— moisture which is made for a wet day in places and around the centre of this swirl we have a particularly strong wind and there is an amber warning in force and parts of northern and western scotland have gusts of up to 80 mph across exposed coasts which could cause damage and disruption but it will be a broadly windy night, some hefty downpours blowing through on the strong winds, some of which will be thundery. there is an idea of the gusts we can expect and we have seen a gust of 75 mph across the coast of wales, so it is broadly windy but the strongest winds are likely to be across northern and western scotland, not a particularly cold night. we head

into tomorrow morning and there is storm jocelyn, the centre of the low moving eastwards, but lots of isobars squeezing together on the chart and a very windy start particularly across scotland and northern england and while the winds will ease, and it will stay gusty in the afternoon to the eastern side of the afternoon to the eastern side of the pennines and could cause tricky driving conditions. there will be showers around for northern ireland and scotland and quite a lot of sunshine to take us through the day, albeit turning hazy at times. may be less mild than it has been but still between nine and tell —— i2 less mild than it has been but still between nine and tell —— 12 degrees. through wednesday evening we see cloud and patchy rain driving north, a warm front which will leave us with exceptionally mild air for thursday and temperatures well into the teens, 13, 14, thursday and temperatures well into the teens, 13, 1a, maybe 15 degrees and the rest of the week into the weekend best described as changeable but not as windy. and that's bbc news at six. now it's time to join our colleagues for the news where you are. goodbye.

long ago when they were trying to win everything, maybe this competition was a bit peripheral, now i think it is absolutely central. for chelsea supporters, they have gotten used to success, we know or they know their club is in the long term financial experiment, it may be a gambler, but their prestige demand success now, they have had an upturn in form with victories against fordham and crystal palace, that is relative, they need something tangible and so does their manager. they start with this 1-0 does their manager. they start with this 1—0 deficit but it is a opportunity for the manager to look forward rather than backward. we are all disappointed but we have 90 minutes to fix the situation and try to _ 90 minutes to fix the situation and try to win, — 90 minutes to fix the situation and try to win, we will respect the opponent, they would be tough, but i think it _ opponent, they would be tough, but i think it is a _ opponent, they would be tough, but i think it is a massive chance for us to have _ think it is a massive chance for us to have the — think it is a massive chance for us to have the possibility to go to the final and _ to have the possibility to go to the final and fight for a title.

chelsea and middlesbrough will battle it out for a place at wembley shortly. the second leg of the league cup semifinal kicks off in just over an hours' time. middlesbrough are 1—0 up after the first leg and one step away from the final at wembley. you can listen on bbc five live. 0rwe can keep or we can keep up—to—date with the results on the bbc sports website and app, that's it for sportsday, thank you for watching, goodbye. hello there. good evening. it's a very stormy period of weather and we're seeing the second named storm in just a few days. storm jocelyn follows hot on the heels of storm isha hampering the clear up. we've seen heavy downpours of rain move eastwards today along with strengthening winds. and here goes that deep area of low pressure just passing to the north of scotland, following the same track as isha. perhaps the wind gusts not as severe for most, but with the trees,

the structures having been weakened from the previous storm and the ground pretty saturated, there will still be some strong impacts in much of the north and the west of scotland towards exposed coast, in particular, underneath a met office amber weather warning until 8am tomorrow morning for gusts of wind of up to 75—80 mph. gusts towards irish sea coasts of up to 65 mph, widely 40—50 mph gusts, even, to low levels and away from the coast. so very windy night all in all, but it will be mild, dry towards the south, blustery showers, torrential downpours at times further north across scotland. so still a very windy start to the day. in fact, much of the north of the uk throughout the day tomorrow is covered by lower level yellow weather warning for the strength of the wind, still. there'll be some blustery showers blowing across scotland, down through wales and towards the end of the day we'll see this area of cloud just creep into southwest england. some patchy rain on that. temperatures not quite as high as on tuesday, but still mild for the time of year with double figures for most. but it will be turning milder still as this warm frontjust

creeps its way further northwards and eastwards as we head through thursday. again, a tight squeeze on the isobars. it will be windy, but not as windy as on tuesday, with further downpours of rain across northern ireland, northwest england and into western scotland too. possibly some of that rain a little wintry over the tops of the hills before the milder air digs in. highs of 13 degrees celsius for many. there will be more rainfall, of course, across western scotland. it's here where we'll see the ground pretty saturated, another 100 millimetres of rainfall, perhaps, by the time we get to the end of the week here. also northwest england, some high rainfall totals. so while wind is the main concern, rain could also be a problem by the time we get to the end of the week. and there are some flood warnings in force. as we head through friday, it's a bit more settled. it will be turning cooler by night, particularly towards the north and the east as we head through the week. some more rainfall for many, particularly in the north and west, over the weekend. bye— bye.
