think we are continuing with the scenes that we see today and may be in the future it would happen again. we are hoping to speak to someone from the israeli government in about 20 minutes. i must say whenever i interview someone who speaks on behalf of the israeli military or government they always make the point they say that they are doing their best to protect civilians and protect civilian infrastructure and have done so throughout this conflict. is that the position you accept? ma; conflict. is that the position you acce t? y ., conflict. is that the position you accet? g ., ., i. conflict. is that the position you accet? y ., ., , . conflict. is that the position you accet? g ., ., , . ., accept? my god what you expect as a human being — accept? my god what you expect as a human being that _ accept? my god what you expect as a human being that this _ accept? my god what you expect as a human being that this argument - accept? my god what you expect as a human being that this argument is i human being that this argument is ever upheld? i think this argument is nonsensical when you talk about the killing of 26,000 palestinians, displacement of 1.9 million people, if you look at rafa and you dissect the situation demographically, you would see that there is 1.9 million

people in rafa, eight times the capacity of the city to take over. the killing, maiming, the destruction, the total elimination of schools, hospitals, worship places, churches or mosques, i think it is quite evident that israel has perpetrated a genocide, has committed a genocide and is pushing ahead without giving any notice to the will of the international community or the will of humanitarian law. it community or the will of humanitarian law.- community or the will of humanitarian law. , ., , _ humanitarian law. it has been a busy 24 or 48 hours _ humanitarian law. it has been a busy 24 or 48 hours in _ humanitarian law. it has been a busy 24 or 48 hours in the _ humanitarian law. it has been a busy 24 or 48 hours in the story. - humanitarian law. it has been a busy 24 or 48 hours in the story. we - 24 or 48 hours in the story. we heard the news yesterday that president biden will be sending his cia director to try to negotiate a hostage deal with hamas. we have not had this provisional ruling from the icj. are you hoping that these two events close together might result in a possible deal between hamas and

israel that could bring this conflict to a swift resolution? taste conflict to a swift resolution? we heard conflict to a swift resolution? , heard about the issue of being closer to clinching a deal, but nothing has materialised and things tend to fall apart at the last minutes. the only variable that comes into this is the ruling by the icj. we would wait to see how israel reacts to this ruling and on the basis of that we all know whether the deal go through or not. so far there have been so many versions of there have been so many versions of the deal so we don't know what we are talking about. most importantly for us is to say cessation facilities and stop the displacement plan of isreal of palestinians being on the gaza strip and no to the reoccupation of gaza, noted shrinkage of the size of gaza or to any military control of gaza as netanyahu desires. the issue continues and things will materialise in the coming hours or

war crime estate can be accused of. the icj rules on state versus state cases and there were a few legal mechanics to get through first, mostly over whether the court could actually rule on the case. israel had presented a legal argument that it could not and had requested the court push back and not get involved. the court decided that it could well on the case. it then ordered several provisional rulings. those rulings are legally binding, but israel has previously said that it may not act on them. there were a few rulings which included the prevention of genocide, acting to prevention of genocide, acting to prevent genocide and to punish those who have potentially been involved in genocide up to that point, and genocidal activity. the definition of genocide is very legally technical. there needs to be a clear intent in their to try to wipe out a specific group of people and to cause harm to that group of people.

we have been hearing from various voices throughout. south africa has said it has stood with the palestinian people in racing this case. we will be speaking shortly to mark redgrave, who speaks for israel. israel's commitment to international law is unwavering. equally unwavering is our sacred commitment to continue to defend our country and defend our people. like every country, israel has an inherent right to defend itself. the file temp two deny israel is fundamental right is blatant discrimination against the jewish state and it was justly rejected. the charge of genocide levelled against israel is not only false it is outrageous and decent people everywhere should rejected. on the everywhere should rejected. on the eve of the international holocaust remembrance day i again pledge as
