to have the best chance to win. and we have replicated that with the players and what they produced out there was just phenomenal. so when they play with that intensity, i have to put everything that i have and i have to put my energy into it as well. we had our moments, we controlled it, and then we concede that goal. and that's obviously — you can concede a goal but this is obviously strange and everyone realises that doesn't help. and itjust shows the boys are human beings. that makes the things they usually do even more special, but today we were really human, and had a couple of problems. manchester united beat west ham 3—0. alejandro garnacho scored twice, and it is now five goals in six games for rasmus hojlund. he got the opener on his 21st birthday. united's victory takes them above west ham into sixth place in the table. our front line, when we serve them, they can score goals.

england's bowlers stuck to their task and tom hartley ended up taking 4 wickets with india finally all out for 255. in reply england have made a positive start but lost ben duckettjust before the close, finishing on 67 fori. it felt like they weren't sure what a good score would be against us. the wicket*s still pretty good. the other one's keeping low, but you expect that. also what we've seen today is shubman gill played brilliantly, but there are still scores to be made out there, so there is still quality in our dressing room. there are still guys in there who think they can get 154 tomorrow and get us

and we end on some sad news from the world of rugby union. barryjohn, the legendary former wales, and british and irish lions fly—half, has died, at the age of 79. after making his debut in 1966, john played in 25 internationals for wales and five tests for the lions. the bbc*s sports correspondent joe wilson looks back on his life. running on the inside. three yards to go — can he get there? what a try! before rugby union was all muscularity, there was poetry and the pace and the rhythm was in the feet of barryjohn. as a fly—half number 10, he dictated the play. he made a split—second decisions without even thinking. it is the quality shared by only a few that may truly be described as sporting genius.
2:53 am
barryjohn was born in 1945 in a west wales village known for two things — coal and rugby. he first rose to prominence at llanelli before moving to cardiff. by 1971 he helped to command wales, perhaps their greatest team, grand slam champions in the five nations. when wales needed points he could always stop, kick and turn away, knowing where the ball had flown. drop goals were his speciality. having conquered europe, barryjohn toured new zealand with the lions. in the country where rugby is the currency, they called barryjohn the king. the lions won the series. in the decisive third test, they scored 13 points to win — ten of them to barryjohn. he had the world at his feet. in 1972, aged just 27, he had enough. he'd become a celebrity and struggled with the concept and the attention.
2:54 am
after his playing career he was paid to speak and write about rugby. barryjohn*s brilliance was spread over a mere 25 matches for wales and five for the lions. he was the rugby player who left the sport wanting more. you can find out more about barryjohn*s life on the bbc website. you can get all the latest sports news at from the bbc sport app, orfrom our website — that's bbc.com/sport. from me and the rest of the team at the bbc sport centre, goodbye. we will be back very soon. we'll see you then. bye— bye. hello. there is a change on the way this week. we will see colder weather pushing down from the north, but that change to colder conditions will not be quick and it won't be straightforward either. as that cold air pushes erratically southwards, we will see some rain. some of us may well

see some snow. at the moment, most places are in this mild air, cold air across the north of scotland and along the boundary between these two air masses where we have a weather fronts. and this will continue to bring some heavy and persistent rain across the north and the west of scotland. met office still has this yellow warning in force. by the time all is said and done, we may well have seen up to 170 millimetres of rain falling in the wettest locations, some snow mixing in on the northern edge of our weather front as it engages some colder air. to the south of our weather front well, extensive cloud cover, some mist and murk, some spots of rain and drizzle, particularly for western coast and hills. again, it will be breezy, but mild, 12, 13 degrees, cold in northern scotland, just three there in lerwick. now, as we move through monday night, eventually that front will get a kick southwards. so that rain pushing southwards across scotland into northern ireland and northern england. some wintry showers following into northern scotland. temperatures here will drop close to freezing.
2:56 am
further south, exceptionally mild to start tuesday morning to the south of wriggling a weather front. that fronts will be slicing the country in two, really, on tuesday. some rain across parts of northern ireland, the far south of scotland, into northern england, north wales. we may see something wintry mixing in over higher ground as that colder air digs in from the north. certainly some snow in the showers, even to quite low levels across parts of scotland. still, for the time being, very mild in the south, highs of 1a degrees. but that weather front looks like it will clear southwards into wednesday, maybe lingering across the channel islands, but elsewhere some spells of sunshine, some wintry showers across the northern half of the uk and temperatures lower for just about all of us. and then as we get into thursday — a lot of uncertainty about this aspect of the forecast — low pressure expected to spin in from the southwest as this front pushes northwards into the cold air it may be that some of us see some quite significant snow. a lot of uncertainty about exactly where
2:57 am
that might happen. it's likely to stay mild in the south, colder in the north.
