temperatures in england and wales are not budging much overnight. heading into tomorrow, this band of cloud and rain continued southwards across northern ireland into northern england and wales. heavy rain over the hills, rain eventually arrives in the midlands. sunshine follows to the north. it gets colder, wintry showers in northern scotland. temperatures lower than today, but we still have that mild air ahead of the rain and southern parts of england, so 13 or 1a degrees here. but even here, the weather changes overnight as we see rain moving down. following that, we get colder air pushing across more of the country and may be frost in many places for wednesday morning, but hopefully a bit of sunshine. still cloud and patchy rain through the english channel and the far south of england on wednesday. snow showers in northern scotland, particularly cold here. elsewhere, typical around 6 or 7 degrees. now, we have a weather front hanging around across the english channel and it is going to move northwards

attack in essex has been released on bail. the daughter of the woman who died has told the bbc she was attacked by banned xl bully dogs, but police haven't confirmed this. we are joined now by stan rawlinson, who is a dog behavourist who has worked as an expert witness in dangerous dog trials. we don't know the specifics of this case, but what factors can make a dog tun? —— taluk —— turn? there are a number of factors. the first 16 weeks of the dog's life has a massive impact on how that dog will turn out in later life. it is really, really important that they are socialised. we need more education and the general public don't have that. some dogs are actually created to be more aggressive and i believe that this

breed is one of them. the reason i say that is i assess them on a regular basis. i retired some years ago, but these dogs started in 1980 and there were no problems with the xl bully until 3.5 years ago. they changed the plotlines and started tinkering with dna. suddenly the attacks and the tragedy that we have seen with this case as well have unfolded. it doubled, then tripled, then quadrupled the amounts of debt that we get per year and these dogs were involved and round about 70% of all of those deaths. this is a serious situation and unfortunately the new law becomes then would not have impacted on this particular case. the reason i say that is these
