quiet, some snow showers across the north but in the far south still clinging on to that mild air and quite damp. so tonight we have clear skies across the north of the uk, a sharp frost developing in the highlands and temperatures freezing down to around possibly the peak district and then south of that generally quite mild. certainly in cornwall at around 11 degrees early in the morning. but this is that a weather front first thing, northern parts of wales and the peak district north across the pennines is where we see the most significant snowfall. yellow warnings are in force but we will concentrate on the amber warnings. force but we will concentrate on the amberwarnings. in force but we will concentrate on the amber warnings. in this area generally about ten, 15 centimetres but along some of the higher roots it could be very nasty at times and some of the hills could see 25

centimetres of snow. 50 dangerous on the roads but this is what we call transience now so basically a weather front bumping against the colder air and then in the next couple of days it will turn more readily to rain. i should add that southern parts of uk are in for a soaking, may be up to a0 millimetres in some spots. towards the end of the week with this low pressure over as the emphasis for the wintry weather and snow will be across the highlands and particularly around eastern scotland. with a strong wind and some blizzards. but by friday, 13 degrees in the south so i am a little reluctant to call it a prolonged cold snap. back to you. thanks, tomasz. and that's the bbc news at one. now it's time to join our colleagues for the news where you are, goodbye.
