from group a last year, they are in bz and will play the republic of ireland, greece and finland. wales are also in the second tier — and have iceland, montenegro and turkey in b4. northern ireland are a division below and will face luxembourg, bulgaria and belarus. the group matches will be played across september, october and november. let's get some reaction now from all the home nations managers starting with scotland's steve clarke. it's a tough one, but we knew that anyway. listen, it was first time in the top group. well, obviously still a bit of a hangover for us from being in this league. so that's the first thing we we have to try to get ourselves back up into that league. i think it's a positive group.

i really do. we're quite pleased with it. i think we know all of our turkey, we're off the back of plane. and recently i thought the whole performance was was very good. we've got a very, very young squad at the minute and this will give them an opportunity, i think, to win games, give them more experience and, you know, help us develop the team further. we expected - difficult opponents. that's what we've got. but that's what we want to - we i'm always a great believer. if you want to improve, | you have to play against the best teams in terms of the games. _ then there are some good some good quality games and of course a couple of teams that we haven't played for quite a while and there have been some memorable games against some of those teams as well in the past. in terms of the other groups in league a. italy, belgium, france and israel line up in group a2. then it's netherlands, hungary, germany, and bosnia and herzegovina in a3. and finally spain, denmark, switzerland and serbia in all. staying with uefa. their president — alexander ceferin — has made the surprise decision to step down in three years�* time. at the annual congress on thursday, a motion was passed that allowed him to stand

for a fourth term — the english fa voted against that but he says he made the decision to stand down six months ago. football's lawmakers, the international football association board, are to set to trial sin—binning players and issuing �*blue�* cards. sin—bins have been used at grassroots level for dissent. the premier league has already ruled out being part of the initial roll—out, with fifa saying reports of blue cards at elite level are incorrect and premature. some managers feel the idea could really help officials. we need to help the referees. the referees are part of the game and i think there are aspects that we can use in ways to to make sure that the games are longer, make sure that we play a lot longer than we doing now and then, that we give clarity to the fans of how to use the var because more than anything is how we can use now the tools for the referees. and that's part of those decisions that you are mentioning. this, i think is a positive move. for the first time in more than four years, england have named an unchanged side for their six nations clash with wales this weekend. the only change to the squad sees prop ellis genge return from a foot injury, to replace beno obano on the bench.

before he started a warmer. providing 17 schools across england with lesson plans and resources to nurture physical and mental resilience. being a father, i look at their future and the world they're coming into. and of course, with social media and a lot of online stuff nowadays, mental health is a really big thing and it's important to be able to talk about your feelings and what you're going through. so when i was younger, being released from one club and having to have setbacks like that, i had to show a lot of strength, a lot of self—belief, a lot of resilience in those moments. kane has had to show those qualities over the last few years with disappointment for england that the last two major tournaments, something he believes can change. we come so close in the last euros, you know, we've definitely got that bit between our teeth to try and go that one step further. but as always, as we've seen, its hard to win major tournaments on the international stage. but we're in a good place. probably more of an expectation this year to go far. and i know the fans

district and over the pennines too — here's hebden bridge in west yorkshire. most of the snow came over the high ground. but misty, mild conditions further south. plenty of heavy rain, too. you can see that on the radar picturejust piling into the south of england and south wales earlier on through the night. lots of flood alerts in place here. there's the snowfall further north, most of it over the high ground, but some of the snow towards the south just turning back to sleet and then to rain with that milder feeling air. but still the risk of some travel disruption as we head into friday with an ice risk from northern england northwards and still some falling snow over the very highest peaks as well. the snow riskjust transferring into central southern areas of scotland, too, and some brisk easterly winds. so perhaps some more problems over the high routes in particular with drifting snow. this is how we're starting off the day on friday. a range of temperatures — below freezing in scotland, but very mild in the south. now as we head through friday, that warm front continues to push its way further northwards, just dragging in the milderfeeling air. still very brisk easterly winds blowing across eastern

scotland, northeast england. this should be falling as rain. but across the grampians and the highlands, we're likely to see some accumulations of snow, even to low levels from the central belt northwards, but it will turn back to rain. some early wintriness too, perhaps across northern ireland. once more, quite a wide range of temperatures — between four and 13 degrees celsius as we go through the afternoon, and still maybe a bit of wintriness, particularly across caithness and sutherland and across shetland as we head through saturday. now, there will be a lot of dry weather on saturday, but low pressure is close by and there will be some showers, maybe some heavier rainfall across the far south—east of england a little later on three of the day. but coming back up into that milderfeeling air, so most of our temperatures will be between six and ii degrees celsius. still double figures in the south. watch out for some heavy rain again across northeastern areas of scotland as we head through sunday. but it will be falling as rain. the air now a lot milder, some scattered showers elsewhere, along with some spells of brightness. and by the time we get to the end of the weekend,
