all accounted for at this point and safe. we however note that this is a fluid situation so all we are sharing now may change as the hours go ahead. we also received a call from the white house that offered all federal assistance in the investigation, we have federal agencies present today, we appreciated that and certainly in the days ahead and the hours ahead we will make sure to continue to do this work. i will say, personally, first, a thank you to the women and men of law enforcement, the women and men who work with the kansas city to fire department and our other agencies, when the shooting started i, like many others, ran and ran for safety. i saw a number of agencies including the kansas city police department officers with guns drawn were running towards danger. we thank them for that. as i was leaving the scene, i saw members of our kansas city fire department administering aid to folks who are seriously injured without concern for the shootings and the challenges that were near them. this is

and the officers were coming around. all of the sudden, people started crushing forward, | everybody started running, there was screaming. - we didn't know what was happening, but this day and age, _ when people run, you run. and so i put my arms— around her and we tried to push through so people wouldn't run - on top of us, and there was a woman crying, saying something about, "somebody had been shot." - of course, it's hard to know, is it a singular incident - or is there an active shooter? but we got pushed all the way up to union station, _ where they had gated everything off, so you couldn't get _ in, for the chiefs. and everybody started jumping the rails and i pushing everybody over. we got inside and we thought that, "ok, it's calm now, we're- inside, we're safe." they gives you some idea of what was happening and what people had to deal with, there were lots of people there, thousand and thousands of people were at the parade, and it just wrapped up, all of them trying to effectively leave and head off. as this was happening, there was a camera rolling with a cbs reporter standing out there who had been, until that moment, reporting on the victory parade, the happiness, the joy, victory parade, the happiness, the joy, the celebrations. then you get

a sense that something has changed but they don't quite know what, take a look. guys, guys, guys, guys, guys! something's going on! something's going on, guys! even of the parade had finished, it was wrapping up, you could see behind the report of their sheer numbers of people. these are different pictures again from earlier, these are not live pictures here, these were in a slightly different location. you can see that reporter turned around and you got

the sense straightaway that something had happened but they didn't quite know what and clearly shouting, guys, guys, guys something's happened, as people started moving more quickly away. and then these pictures from a little later and you can clearly see the lights of law enforcement there and people realising, you can almost hear what has taken place and as news spread that shots were fired, people ran, they ran in different directions, police press conference and a little earlier repeated sightings and mentions of the fact that as the crowds ran in one direction, police officers ran in the other, towards the danger, towards union station, guns drawn. and you see lots of red there because the red is the colour of the kansas city chiefs, the football team, so clearly all the fans out and about in theirjerseys coming to celebrate a second super bowl win in

two years, back to back, a huge achievement, it's not particularly easyin achievement, it's not particularly easy in the nfl to do that. this is an interesting picture from early round because you got the sense there, you got the tv trucks who are there to cover the parade and as the camera keeps moving around, and a few more seconds it moves again, and here you get to see the people start to run, clearly some of them will have known what is going on and heard the shots, potentially but most will be moving away because they heard that something has gone wrong, heard gunfire, heard some incident and moving away, and as we heard from one of the eyewitnesses saying when people are running, you run. and the people in black there, you can see law—enforcement heading and the direction toward union station towards the incident. as other fans there file out. huge amounts of confusion, clearly, in the immediate minutes and moments afterwards, huge amounts of confusion because clearly there are

so many people involved there, a huge logistical organisation putting on a victory parade and open top buses, people on the streets, confetti, a stage, huge operation which was why there were so many law enforcement and emergency services teams there, 800 law enforcement officers were there already. because officers were there already. because of the parade, because of the amount of the parade, because of the amount of people who were there, so presumably they were on the scene pretty quickly. when things happen. but clearly not quickly enough to prevent people being shot between 10-15 prevent people being shot between 10—15 people injured, one of those dead. police in their briefing wouldn't give any more details about specific conditions of different patients or the precise number they said work was still being done on that, we did get some numbers a little early around from the fire department, but we are waiting now for any final update. 0k,

think some aid was being given to victims, people impacted here, they asked people to get away from that area, too. but you can understand the confusion, and the chaos because although the parade had wrapped up and finished, there were still thousands of people there, some managed to get away, but others were around that station, not knowing what had happened and not walk knowing what was going on, and then as it became clearer, some giving help and helping people who had been hit, helping people who had been caught up. we know the police detained two armed people, relatively quickly it seems, but the police have not given us a full timeline yet, but two armed people taken in as the investigation continues our cbs news partners say

this may not be terror —related, but as he and smith investigation is in early stages nothing will be ruled out by law enforcement at this stage. this event, a celebration of the kansas city chiefs super bowl win, concluding with a shooting between 10—15 people injured, one dead. plenty more coming up, i'm lewis vaughanjones, this is bbc news. hello there. some very wet, very mild conditions around at the moment. temperatures reached 16.5 degrees celsius in hereford on wednesday and it could turn even warmer still, perhaps, as we head through thursday. but the focus for the day's highest temperatures will tend to be further east. there's a lot more rain to come in the forecast as well, all of these weather fronts just pushing northwards and eastwards as we head through into thursday morning. so temperatures rising unusually through the night across much of scotland.

and we'll start the day off on 12 or 13 degrees celsius towards the south of england and wales. all of that mild air just flowing in on that southerly wind from the azores. you can see all of that very mild air marked in the deep yellow there. it's a very wet start to the day across scotland, the heavy rain clearing northwards, being replaced by this batch of rain just pushing away from northern ireland. a cold front sweeping eastwards, giving some more heavy rain where the ground is already saturated, but it should stay largely dry ahead of the front across eastern areas of england. now, these are the average temperatures for this time of year, just 8 or 9 degrees. you can see just how mild it's going to be through the day on thursday. in fact, across parts of essex, we could even see 16 to 18 degrees celsius, perhaps, given any brightness. that's still well off the february record, but it will feel pleasantly warm, i think, for the time of year. now, as we head through thursday night, that cold front continues to sweep its way eastwards. and behind it, there's some slightly cooler—feeling air, but only a drop in temperature by a couple of degrees or so. we'll start off friday morning,
