only for india to seal the series with a five—wicket win on the fourth day of the fourth test. that means india still haven't lost a home test series since 2012, while it is england's first series defeat under captain ben stokes. his team had briefly threatened to pull it off. shoaib bashir took two wickets in two balls just after lunch to leave india five down and 72 runs short of their target of 192. but shubman gill and dhrquurel batted it out for the home side — gill finishing unbeaten on 52. the final test is in dharamsala in ten days* time. now, i'm sure liverpool fans all over the world will still be celebrating winning whatjurgen klopp called the "most special trophy of his career" after beating chelsea to lift the league cup on sunday. virgil van dijk scored the only goal of the game in extra time. these were the scenes in the dressing room afterwards. liverpool's victory came with eight academy players in the squad and a number of injuries. it means, before he leaves

in the summer, klopp will end his time at the club with at least one trophy. i got told outside that there's an english phrase, "you don't win trophies with kids." i didn't know that. he laughs. i already knew! it's... it is in my, there are longer careers than mine, but in my more than 20 years it is easily the most special trophy i ever won. it's absolutely exceptional. we play for a trophy. we didn't get. and now it's the same. what you can tell me to feel better? nothing. they need to feel the pain like us and, of course, they'll need to realise we need to work more, we need to do better things, we need to improve.

lionel messi seems to be enjoying life in america's major league soccer. his inter miami side trailed 1—0 and looked like losing to la galaxy in california, but messi popped up with this, perfect timing two minutes into stoppage time, to grab an equaliser and salvage a point. from one cup competiton to another now and non—league side maidstone united are taking on championship side coventry city in the fifth round of the fa cup on monday. maidstone are looking to become the first team from the sixth tier to reach the quarterfinals. they got this far by beating ipswich town in the last round, who are above coventry in the championship. they are a fantastic, fantastic championship side and, if i'm being totally honest, it's going to be harder than ipswich. this is something i've been drumming intoour a group of players. we are not cocky. to be able to walk on to any football pitch against any opposition you have to be confident
11:48 am
and we try to drum this into the group. you have to believe as a group that, yes, you can get a result because once that whistle goes it's 11 against 11 and it all boils down to the decisions we make. in the nba, nikola jokic is at it again. he recorded his 18th triple—double of the season as the denver nuggets beat the golden state warriors 119—103. jokic scored 32 points and made 16 rebounds and 16 assists — the third time in his career he's registered over 30 points. only oscar robinson, with 11, has achieved the feat more in nba history. defending nba champions the nuggets are third in the western conference. meanwhile, the sacramento kings beat the la clippers 123—107. a triple—double from sacramento's domantas sabonis and 33 points from de*aaron fox leave the kings in fifth place

in the western conference, just below the clippers. it's the second time los angeles have lost two matches in a row since december. britain's kye whyte, a silver medallist at the 2020 olympics, capped an incredible comeback by winning round four of the bmx racing world cup in brisbane. the 2a—year—old, who had not reached a world cup final race since 2022, made a fast start on the shoulder of favourite cedric butti. he stayed there until the final few metres, when the brit pipped the swiss rider on the line. it was a remarkable victory for a man who only six weeks earlier had been bed—ridden after a severe asthma attack. last year i don't know how many injuries i had and then even at christmas, had an asthma attack. i've only been riding for six weeks properly. yesterday, i thought i could have made the final, but it was meant to be. but it wasn't meant to be.
11:50 am
today i made the final and i won and i ain't made the final since 2022 colombia, so i'm happy with it. a great story to finish as part—time supermarket delivery driverjoe dean had a weekend to remember. only a week ago the world number 2,930 was making deliveries for a british supermarket chain, but on sunday he landed himself a £170,000 pay check as he finished runner—up at the kenya 0pen. he finished two shots behind darius van driel. a great comeback story for the dutchman who had to come through qualifying school to get back on tour and he finally won in his 112th tournament appearance. that's all the sport for now. bbc verify has uncovered how car insurance quotes were a third more expensive in some areas of england with the biggest minority ethnicity populations, even if road accident and crime levels were similar.
11:51 am
nick eardley has more from the verify hub. the world of car insurance can be pretty hard to get your head around. insurance companies don't provide that much information about how they arrive at quotes. bbc verify has been trying to find out a bit more and what factors could lead to you paying a lot more. and if you live in an area with a lot of people from ethnic minorities, you could be paying what's been dubbed by some as an "ethnicity penalty", ie you're paying more. let me explain a bit about how we arrived at these figures using the screens here. bbc verifiers looked at thousands of addresses in every local authority in england. we've gone to a price comparison website and got quotes for each of these addresses. all of the details we used where the same a 30—year—old teacher driving a ford fiesta. the only thing we changed was the address.
11:52 am
if you live in an area with more people from ethnic minority backgrounds, your costs go up and they go up a lot. have a look at this example here just outside of birmingham, an area called sandwell. these two areas in sandwell are pretty similar. they have similar levels of crime and similar levels of car accidents. the big difference is the number of people from ethnic minorities. you can see here in this area, it'sjust over 10%. down here, it'sjust under 45%. we went on an insurance comparison website and got quotes for both of these areas. have a look at the difference up here in princes end with this lower ethnic minority population, we were quoted just under £2,000. but down here in great bridge with its higher ethnic minority population, the quote was £800 more, almost £2,800. this isn't an isolated example either. this was happening all over england
11:53 am
when we did these searches. on average, car insurance quotes were a third higher in the most ethnically diverse parts of england, compared with the least diverse. so what's the reaction been? well, we went to citizens advice. they've looked at this sort of thing before and we put our figures to them. this was their response. we are talking about hundreds of pounds during a cost of living crisis when every single pound counts. and that's why it's essential that insurers and their regulator, the financial conduct authority, answer the question of what is going on here and what is driving this ethnicity penalty. we also put these findings to the association of british insurers. they are the group that represents insurance firms. now, they pointed out that insurers are considering a wide range of what they call "risk—related factors" when they're working out car insurance quotes. they also told us that insurers do not and cannot use ethnicity as a factor when setting prices.
11:54 am
but they added... sorry, let me just get it up here. they added these and other similar findings raise an important public policy debate. so that debate will continue. not for the first time it is raising questions about how exactly the insurance world works. it's pretty secretive, but this research suggests it can be pretty unfair too. these are the scenes live in brussels. these are the streets outside the european union headquarters where farmers have been protesting against competition from cheap food imports and other issues including environmental rules and subsidies which they say favour larger firms. subsidies which they say favour largerfirms. farmers have been
11:55 am
blocking the street with a line of tractors. some farmers are throwing bottles at police as well. we have seen riot police fire and water cannon, possibly more trying to put the fires out. demonstrations have been taking place four weeks in european countries, including belgium. france, germany, the netherlands, poland, spain, italy, all with farmers calling for better income. there has been a meeting today of agriculture ministers from eu countries to discuss these pressures on the farmers that have led to these protests. now it's time for a look at the weather with carole. hello again. we've had some heavy rain and strong winds affecting some southern areas during the course of the early part of today. the rain continuing to pull away, but what you will find is it will remain windy, a cold north—easterly wind, but for most it will be dry, with some sunshine
11:56 am
and scattered showers. some of the showers being driven in and that wind will get across into the midlands and east wales, and the black circles represent the strength of the wind gusts. so temperatures today ranging from four in the north to ten in the south, but if you are exposed to the wind in the east, it will feel more like four or five against your skin. now heading on through the evening and overnight, there is the low pressure pushing away into the mediterranean. we have a ridge of high pressure across us, and then two weather fronts come in. as they come in, introducing cloud and some rain, the temperature will go up, but under clear skies we are looking at a widespread frost, these being the lowest temperatures of the night. so tomorrow we start with some fog through the vale of york, lincolnshire, the midlands, south—east. that will lift through the morning. our two weather fronts continue to drift steadily southwards, bringing the cloud and increasingly patchy rain with them, and behind them we are looking at mixture of bright spells, sunshine and some showers as well.
11:57 am
temperatures, 6 to about 10 or ii. moving then from tuesday into wednesday, our weather fronts eventually clear away from the south—east, it will be breezy in the north and we have got this next weather front coming our way. we start off with some fog in southern areas. a bright start, but as the weather front approaches the cloud ahead of it will build, then we start to see the rain coming in. that will be in the west initially, but it will push eastwards. temperatures 7—12 degrees. so from wednesday into thursday, you can see as our weather front pushes across, we are in this milder air, but then we have a cold front, so behind that the air starts to cool and it will cool further behind this weather front. so, as we head on into thursday, our weather front will bring rain from the west towards the east, still relatively mild ahead of it. but then the air turns colder behind and we will see some of the showers wintry in the tops of the mountains and our temperatures six to eight in the west, but we are still looking at up to ii

to a standstill. benjamin netanyahu says an assault on rafah will go ahead as the un secretary general says nothing can justify what he called the collective punishment of the palestinian people in gaza. an offensive on the city would not only be terrifying for more than a million palestinian civilians sheltering there, it would put the final nail in the coffin of our aid programmes. wrong and unacceptable — prime minister rishi sunak condemns comments from a suspended mp about the mayor of london. hungarian politicians are set to approve sweden joining the nato military alliance later — the final hurdle in their membership. hello, i'm lewis vaughanjones. welcome to bbc news now, three hours of fast—moving news, interviews and reaction.
