we've got that actually might be resilient in certain scenarios. so we can then make a plan. it's been a real mixed bag across the uk this winter with all sorts of weather extremes, but overall we've seen more mild wet days than cold snowy ones and that's something we'll have to learn to live with as the climate continues to warm. ben rich, bbc news. ben rich looking back at some of our recent weather. let's look ahead at what's coming next, the forecast from darren bett. the first day of march has brought some snow to some parts of the country. this was the christmas card scene we had in northern ireland first thing this morning, the snow is boring but it's cloudy and dry in northern ireland and its cold across the uk, we have this pool of cold air over is and

nearly £400 million, according to the national audit office. £220 million of this has already been spent, even though the uk is yet to send a single person there. ministers say the scheme will cut the number of migrants trying to enter the uk illegally, but labour says the costs are a "national scandal." our political correspondent iain watson is in westminster. iain, do we have a breakdown of what this money is being spent on and we are that 400 figure comes from? yes. are that 400 figure comes from? yes, we do. are that 400 figure comes from? yes, we do- basically _ are that 400 figure comes from? yes, we do. basically a _ are that 400 figure comes from? yes, we do. basically a range _ are that 400 figure comes from? use: we do. basically a range of mps have been trying to get this information from the government for quite some time and they only got partial information back in december. they ask the spending watchdog the national audit office to look into it and they have come up with bigger and more robust figures. so £220 million has already been spent on an economic development programme with rwanda. that is not dependent on the number of migrants sent there. that money has already been spent. we know it is going to increase by £50 million a year every year for the next two years. you add that together with the setup costs, which are being paid for in the uk. that

is going up to £28 million a year and they arrive at that figure of nearly 400 million, but in addition to that if 300 migrants are sent to land at the rand and government would get a further payment of 120 million so effectively around half £1 billion could be spent on the scheme and that is obviously more than £1 million per migrant where that figure to be reached. in addition to that the government will also be spending £150,000 per person sent to rhondda over a five year period to pay for things such as food and accommodation. labour say the money is not being well spent and they would scrap the scheme. they said it is scandalous. interestingly, the chair of the home affairs select committee a cross—party committee of mps was questioning whether this was value for money even compared to the high cost of housing asylum seekers in hotels in the uk, but the government's argument quite simply
