welcome along to the programme wherever you are watching around the world. we start with a huge day at the bottom of the premier league — where nottingham forest have dropped into the relegation zone after breaking the division's profit and sustainability rules. their punishment comes after the club admitted losses last season that breached the threshold by 34.5 million pounds — but that might not be the end of the story — as our sports news correspondent laura scott reports. frustration at the final whistle for nottingham forest after letting a lead to slip against their relegation rivals. points deduction, it's coming for you, the luton town fans song, and they weren't wrong. two days on and forced were ruining another result as an independent commission found them guilty of breaching profit

points. i think the result against luton at the weekend, yeah, could have been more beneficial to us if we would've won the game. i think for luton getting that point ends seeing us get deducted points will be favourable for them, but it is not undoable. the club have still got a situation where they can go and win enough games this season to stay in the premier league. so the team have to rely and deal with what they can deal with those players and coaching staff and the league behind the scenes will have to deal with the legalities of trying to get some points back. 0nce legalities of trying to get some points back. once you get into the premier league, you are newly promoted, you are at are newly promoted, you are at a disadvantage. he received some money to go and challenge in that first season, but you missed the windows where other teams have recruited really good squads and it does take three orfour good squads and it does take three or four windows good squads and it does take three orfour windows for good squads and it does take three or four windows for an established premier league team to build that team. so for a forced, second season, we need to go into a third season to feel really comfortable with the squad. well hours after forest's punishment was confirmed, it was announced that

legislation to establish an independent regulator in the uk will be introduced to parliament on tuesday. the bill will grant powers to a standalone body — independent of both government and football authorities — to oversee the uk's national sport — and in turn, avoid football clubs suffering through financial mismanagement — such as with bury fc — who were expelled from the english football league in 2019 because of rising debts. in turkey, fenerbahce say they will consider pulling out of the super lig after some of their players were attacked by trabzonspor supporters following their win on sunday. there was a pitch invasion at full—time and some visiting players were forced to defend themselves. they were given a heroes welcome on their return to istanbul after the victory that saw them move two points behind leaders galatassary. but the club now say that they will hold an extraordinary general meeting on april 2, when they will consider what action to take and that incudes withdrawing from the super lig. inter milan defender francesco acerbi has been sent

britain's most successful female 0lympian, laura kenny has retired at the age of 31. kenny has won five 0lympic golds and seven world championship titles and admits there was a lot of pressure in trying to reach paris this summer. with the olympic qualification coming around, you have to be qualified, the last opportunity is the end of april. i would have had to compete by then and the pressure of that was making me be like, i don't want to do this. so i don't think there was a specific day. it has only been about ten days actually completely decided. it has been in my head for a little while, thinking, at the thiswith the olympic qualification coming around, ——is the right time for me. it's notjust the metals and titles that we will all remember and celebrate, but how she has done it. the sort of person she is. she has never changed and has always been fun and has had a incredibly down—to—earth attitude about it. and made it feel that this is something other people could aspire to do and be.

i think that is one of her enduring legacies, is the incredible standard she said, but she actually brought so many people into her sport in general because of the way she did it. rory mcllroy has welcomed the meeting between the pga tour board and saudi arabia's public investment fund chairman in an effort to bridge the gap between the two entities. negotiations are continuing between the pga tour and the pif, which funds liv golf, about a potential merger. i think it should have happened months ago. so i am glad it is happening and hopefully that progresses conversations and gets us closer to a solution. i see the two entities and i think there is a big disconnect between pif and liv. you have my car went over here and liv are out doing their own thing. so the closer we can get to pif and finalising that investment, i think that will be really good thing. french president emmanuel macron says having russian athletes competing under

briefly, a ridge of high pressure will build, but that won't last long. we see this next weather system bringing wet and windy weather, particularly across the north of the uk during thursday. and as that clears for friday and into the weekend, well, the winds change direction and start to come down from the north, and that will make it feel significantly colder. temperatures on the thermometer lower than they have been, could even see some wintry showers over higher ground in the north. but factor in the strength of the wind, the wind chill is going to make it feel really very cold indeed. and those chillier conditions extend all the way south across the uk for the weekend.
