hello from the bbc sport centre. england all—rounder ben stokes has asked to not be considered for selection for this summer's t20 world cup to focus on his fitness. stokes says he wants to use the break to ensure he can be "the all—rounder i want to be" across all formats. he had knee surgery over the winter and bowled just five overs during the recent five—test series in india. the 32—year—old has already opted out of the indian premier league, which began last month. in a statement he said — i m working hard and focusing on building my bowling fitness back up to fulfil a full role as an all—rounder in all formats of cricket. opting out of the ipl and the world cup will hopefully be a sacrifice that allows me to be the all—rounder i want to be

for the foreseeable future." sri lanka are edging to victory against bangladesh in the second test in chattogram. they set a notional target of 511 for the hosts who have at least gone past their own first innings score. four more wickets for the tourists will wrap up a two nil series win. five games in the premier league later on tuesday, with three of the bottom five clubs in action. everton are three points above the drop and they travel to newcastle looking to find some form — they're on a club record equalling run of 12 league matches without a win. but sean dyche will be taking inspiration from their previous meeting at goodison, which they won 3—0. we provided a very good performance earlier in the season against them. we can't rely on that but it is a good marker that it is achievable to take these games on. we know that, we have delivered, even when we haven't won games, we have delivered good performances. we've got to do

that. you've got to play well, there was no gimmes in the premier league, and certainly not at newcastle. the most capped player in all blacks history, sam whitelock has also announced he will retire from professional rugby at the end of the season. the 35—year—old lock played 153 times for new zealand and won two world cups. whitelock was the youngest all black to play in 100 tests and the quickest in the world to achieve the milestone. he is currently playing for pau in france's top 14. joseph schooling, who won singapore's first and only olympic gold medal at rio games in 2016, has announced his retirement from swimming. schooling's olympic gold came after beating phelps in his last indivdual race of the american*s career. schooling said he has no regrets as he closed out his decorated career, after the olympics, 2016, i took my foot off the gas, and i was about

head and shoulders above everyone, got complacent. i don't regret that right now, but i still wonder, what if we just kept going along that path. devin booker had the fifth highest scoring game of his career, with 52 points, as he helped power the phoenix suns to a 1211—111 victory over the new orleans pelicans. booker 5 first 2a points came on just nine shots in the first quarter 7 he was 8 from 9 from behind the arc. kevin durant scored 20 points and jusuf nurkic added 19. the result brings the suns to within a game of the pelicans for the sixth playoff spot in the western conference. ronel blanco of the houston astros threw the first no—hitter in the major league this season, keeping the toronto bluejays to nothing to win. the right—hander struck out seven and walked two. it was the 17th no—hitter in astros history and the first in the majors since philadelphia 5 michael lorenzen threw one against the washington nationals

on august 9th of last year. and that's all the sport for now. to breaking news now out of turkey — 15 people have been killed and eight others injured in a fire at a nightclub in central istanbul. the city's mayor says the fire broke out during daytime repair work, adding that it had been extinguished. it's understood most of the injured people are in a critical condition and being treated at a nearby hospital. an investigation has been launched into what caused the blaze. now, a look into the increasingly alarming world of deepfakes. the bbc*s followed a woman we're calling jodie, who was targeted by an online abuser who posted pictures of her on a porn site, requesting they be faked onto explicit images. initially turned away by the police,
2:50 pm
she turned detective herself — and found the person responsible was her best friend. jodie*s been speaking to kate west from bbc radio 4's file on 4. i asked kate what's happened to her. it's this kind of invisible threat that's hanging over all women now. i mean, this can happen to you just with one photo. and what happened to jodie was extraordinary. it was years of her life taken over by people, her friends messaging her saying they had seen the pictures used on dating sites, on twitter with explicit captions, and then it came to a head when she got an anonymous e—mail that said her, "just a warning, i recognise you, thought i'd let you know that pictures of you have appeared on a porn site and i thought i would let you know". and she starts scrolling through these images, they're completely innocent photographs, pictures of her on holiday with her mum, pictures of her in a coffee

shop, and somebody has put them on and said this person makes me feel so much like this, i need to see them on porn. as she is scrolling through, she sees one photo and it sticks out and she knows that that photo hasn't been anywhere on social media. the only person she shared it with is the other person in the photo and that was her best friend of nearly a decade, a guy called alex wolf, a very popular and upcoming composer. he actually won bbc composer of the year and he was the one behind this. the one doing this to her. the sense of betrayal must have been enormous on top of everything else. yes. she tells us she felt so incredibly humiliated. when she saw the porn, she realised it had been online for ten months and in that ten months they had been closer than ever, speaking every day. he had comforted her when she talked to him about all the other stuff she had seen online. they were so close and she just felt like every conversation she had had with him had been a lie. it's made it really hard for her to trust people now.
2:52 pm
what has been the response from social media? so we contacted the places where jodie's pictures have been put. twitter didn't respond to us. reddit contacted us back and said the threads had been banned and that nonconsensual images have no place on the platform. and the porn site which they have been shared with has been taken down. you can see more you can see more of you can see more of her investigation on the bbc news website. i was deep faked by my best friend. a very good piece of journalism from kate. it is one of the most looked at stories on the bbc news website today. do log on and take a look. sports brand adidas has banned german football fans from buying their country's kit with the number 44 on the back. it's because of concerns the font used for the number makes it appear similar to the symbol used by nazi

ss units in the second world war. pierre—antoine denis has more. it's not every day that the design fail is quite as embarrassing as this, and is in fact a pr disaster for the german brand. adidas personalising the kit with the number four is fairly innocuous, but the number 44 is something else and can be seen to be an awkward reference to germany's darkest hour — the ss logo used by the nazi parliamentary unit. ——the nazi paramilitary unit. so how did this huge mistake slip through the sportswear design team? mainly because the number 44 is not used by the german men's or women's teams and europe's football governing body. uefa only ask for the design for numbers one to 26, so no one from adidas, the uefa or the german fa noticed a problem, as per the statement released by the german fa, and therefore the shirt was approved for sale. but when the kit was released with an option to customise with numbers from zero to 99, then social media users were swift to see the problem.

adidas, in fact, reacted very quickly. have a look at this. when we browse through their website, let's say i want to buy the spanish shirt, i can click on it and then have an option. i have an option to personalise the shirt with a spanish star or with my own name. but if i then switch to germany here, i can see that the option to personalise is no more — adidas saying that it was important for them to block this move, and defending themselves, saying adidas actively opposes xenophobia, anti—semitism, violence and hatred in any form. so, of course, this is perhaps not the greatest mistake by adidas — that was probably missing out once on signing an up and coming basketballer called michaeljordan, who eventually became the face of nike — but it has left different bosses red—faced, especially as the german fa says the deal with adidas will end in 2027. the manufacturer once again bested
