and the bafta goes to... ..timothy spell. and one of its leads won best actor. this week, strictly come dancing celebrates its 20th birthday. it received an early present, winning best entertainment show. best live event went to last year's eurovision extravaganza from liverpool. i'm thrilled you are receiving - the bafta fellowship this evening, and i send my heartfelt congratulations. - and there was a message from the prince of wales and a standing ovation as floella benjamin received the bafta fellowship. lizo mzimba, bbc news. time for a look at the weather. here's chris fawkes. hello. yesterday we managed to get the warmest day of the year, temperatures reaching 27.5 celsius,
1:31 pm
and we still have some one plateau across parts of scotland, northern england, down through the midlands and east anglia today, but it does not like that everywhere. in the south—west, rather grey and cloudy with rain. all courtesy of an area of low pressure, the swell of cloud you can see here, and the thing is this band of rain affecting south—western wales, northern ireland is particularly slow moving, so there are some fairly beefy rainfall accumulations to come through today. 20 or 30 millimetres for these areas, but double that of the high ground, so there could be some localised surface water flooding issues. because the rain man is a slow moving, chances are if it is raining with you every moment, it is raining with you every moment, it likely still will be towards the end of the day. we call parts of north and eastern scotland and the east side of inwood, keeping some warm spells of sunshine. the day's top temperature perhaps reaching 25 in parts of east anglia. yes, it will feel warm. 0vernight tonight, the span of rain will continue to push its way northwards and
1:32 pm
eastwards, so rich in scotland, moves its way across mass map —— much of northern and eastern one, a few showers following into the south—west, but looking at a moment. tomorrow, it a reversal of fortunes, some of the wettest weather will be across scotland and eastern parts of inwood. brighter conditions for northern ireland, wales, and south—western competitor today, but not entirely dry. some showers around, some of them quite heavy. temperatures generally reaching the high teens to low 20s. low pressure still lurking, could have some fairly lengthy spells of rain across eastern england, but otherwise a day of sunshine and showers, although it will probably stay dry for northern scotland, and it is here but we will see some of the daytemperatures, probably written around 23 celsius also. that will feel pleasantly warm as well. for thursday, also. that will feel pleasantly warm as well. forthursday, probably anotherarea as well. forthursday, probably another area of low pressure coming in from the east. this one heading into parts of england and wales again. so again the rain likely to
1:33 pm
increase as we go through the day on thursday, some of it quite heavy. again the driest weather for northern scotland, here again luckily warm whatever doesn't the low 20s. otherwise this temperatures around 17 to 19 celsius. towards the end of the week and we can, staying quite on settle for england and wales, looking at rather shallow conditions, maybe some long spells of rain. the best of the weather for the north and west of the uk, so scotland, northern ireland, north—western parts of england, probably dry with some decent sunshine around. that's the latest. thanks, chris. and that's bbc news at one. now its time to join our colleagues for the news hello and welcome to sportsday. a deluge at old trafford can't stop arsenal — they take the premier league title race to the final weekend. it is still in manchester city's

hands. could gareth southgate be on his way to old trafford? the england manager says there could be no distractions ahead of the summer's euros. there is another tour title for rory michael roy as he resumes his ten year hunt for a fifth major this week. the premier league title race is going right down to the wire after arsenal's win at manchester united. kai havertz did all the running to set up leandro trossard for the only goal of the game. that moved them to the top of the table. arsenal are one point clear of manchester city, but city have a game in hand, that's against tottenham tomorrow, so arsenal fans will find themselves in the unusual position of cheering
1:35 pm
on theirfierce north london rivals. so yeah, it's a phenomenal thing they are doing right now and we just have one of the most beautiful days ahead of us in front of our people, our families at the emirates, and let's hope that we can do it. that and let's hope that we can do it. is on sunday. hov watch that is on sunday. how will you watch tuesday? for that is on sunday. how will you watch tuesday?— that is on sunday. how will you watch tuesday? for sure i am going to watch it, — watch tuesday? for sure i am going to watch it, i _ watch tuesday? for sure i am going to watch it, i will _ watch tuesday? for sure i am going to watch it, i will watch _ watch tuesday? for sure i am going to watch it, i will watch tomorrow'sl to watch it, i will watch tomorrow's game as well so we will know what we need. it is all going down to next sunday. you don't get this very often. in you don't get this very often. in the last decade a premier you don't get this very often. i*i the last decade a premier league football this isjust the the last decade a premier league football this is just the fourth occasion that the title race has gone to the final day. in the three previous occasions it has been manchester city who started it with the advantage and manchester city have held their nerve to wind the premier league title. most recently two years ago when they face aston villa on the final day. they came
1:36 pm
from behind to wind and that tonight liverpool. it is the same scenario. city have the advantage again, with the game in hand they knew a couple of winds will be enough for a remarkable fourth straight league title, something new team has done just in premier league history, but in top—flight history. bands of arsenal and city have been studying this fixture running for a number of weeks. if arsenal are to wind their first title since 2004 they need city to slip up against tottenham tomorrow night or on the final day at home to west ham. three pivotal games left to decide this season. the one thing that is certain, regardless of their city result tomorrow it will go down to the final day. we tomorrow it will go down to the final da . ~ ., ., ., final day. we had that we are d namic final day. we had that we are dynamic yesterday _ final day. we had that we are dynamic yesterday with - final day. we had that we are - dynamic yesterday with manchester united perhaps doing city a favour, which they didn't in the end, they give it a go. then we have this
1:37 pm
match tomorrow night, spurs will not want to do arsenal a favour. after want to do arsenal a favour. after the match — want to do arsenal a favour. after the match yesterday, _ want to do arsenal a favour. after the match yesterday, kai - want to do arsenal a favour. ft? the match yesterday, kai havertz from arsenal said he will be the biggest fan of tottenham ever when they take on manchester city on tuesday nights. in a complicated way, tonight's match between aston villa and liverpool could affect how spurs approach that match on tuesday night because of aston villa wind, they have secured the fourth champions league place. italy don't wind, spurs still has something to play for. tottenham will —— know if they wind their last couple of games they wind their last couple of games they could still finish in the top four. that is an added level of complexity for spurs bands. they knew if they beat or draw with city at home they hand a massive advantage back to arsenal. the question for two spurs fan is to let their season drift to a better second place finish to avoid that
1:38 pm
scenario. i second place finish to avoid that scenario. . ., second place finish to avoid that scenario. _, , ., ., ., , scenario. i could give you an answer straightaway! _ tonight it's third against fourth as they take on aston villa unai emery*s champions league—chasing villa are four points ahead of tottenham with only two games left to play. villa lost to brighton last time out in the league and then saw their europa conference league hopes ended by 0lympiacos in the semifinals last thursday night. unai emery is one of the best we have in our business, 100%. where ever he was he was a success. sometimes clubs were not ready to wait. he always organises the team extremely well. the job wait. he always organises the team extremely well. thejob he is doing is exceptional and we all know how important it is for a club to qualify for the champions league, how difficult it is to do that and
1:39 pm
he probably very what likely will do that. he is absolutely exceptional. gareth southgate he is fully focused on the euro championship in this summer. he has visited the hospital in newcastle that treated sir bobby robson during his cancer diagnosis. well, excited, which i think everybody i seemed to bump into feels the same. i think everybody knows we've got some really exciting players. gareth southgate is one of the longest—serving england managers. he has been in charge for nearly eight years. this summer, he and the squad will head to germany for his fourth major tournament. is this the most expectation you've
1:40 pm
had going into a tournament? well, i would say yes, because of what we've done in the previous tournaments. and i think there's always expectation with england anyway, we know that. but i think there's belief within the playing group. perhaps the expectation matches the capability a little bit more than it has done historically. you have players like jude bellingham, harry kane, phil foden, 0llie watkins all arguably having their best seasons they've had. good options to have, but also a problem as well, trying to fit them all in one team? well, we won't fit them all in but, yeah, they're nice problems to have. you'd rather have talent and have to make decisions based on form than not have those options. we're here at the freeman hospital. why are you making a visit here today? it's a great privilege to be able to come here where sir bobby obviously came for treatment, but also had such a massive impact on the fundraising that's allowed
1:41 pm
the hospital to continue with the trials that they do. take it down... no, no, no... sir bobby, of course, huge in the north east but, of course, with his england connection as well. after the two warm—up games ahead of the euros, you're going to be on the same number of games managed as england manager, as sir bobby robson. what does that mean to you to match someone with that history in the game? he's one of the icons of english football, really, so i'm hugely proud to be mentioned in the same sentence. vivian and meet the mayor is going to leave arsenal at the end of the season. shejoined from bayern munich in 2017 and scored 125 goals in 172 appearances for arsenal. she was out for ten months last year
1:42 pm
with a serious knee injury and only played 13 at times this season. she is only 27 but the club have decided not to offer a contract extension. what a weekend it was for rory mcilroy, who won the wells fargo championship for a fourth time. he started the day one shot behind xander schauffele, but he produced two eagles and five birdies in a final round of 65 to finish five shots ahead of the american at quail hollow in north carolina — the scene of mcilroy*s very first tour win 14 years ago. familiarity could work for him this weekend too as the uspga is at valhalla in kentucky, where he won the last of his four major titles ten years ago. i'm away better player now than i was back then. i have had the winds,
1:43 pm
i've done everything else there is to do in the game since 2014. the only thing i need to do is get another major and a wind like this going into the pga championship next week is a good way to prepare for that. lots more on the bbc sport website and app. i will be back throughout the afternoon, before now, goodbye. you're watching bbc news. i'm lauren taylor. more of our top story this hour, as an inquiry set up to discover why some women have traumatic experiences in childbirth has called for a huge overhaul of maternity and post—natal care. the report, led by a group of cross—party mps, refers to "harrowing evidence" from more than 1,000 women. the findings of the birth trauma inquiry will be presented to the government today.

let's speak to zahra iqbal, a mother who had herfirst child last year. thank you for being with us. are you able to tell us a bet about what happened? i able to tell us a bet about what happened?— able to tell us a bet about what hauened? ., , _ , ., happened? i had my baby last year in jul . m happened? i had my baby last year in july- my waters _ happened? i had my baby last year in july. my waters broke, _ happened? i had my baby last year in july. my waters broke, i— happened? i had my baby last year in july. my waters broke, i went - happened? i had my baby last year in july. my waters broke, i went into - july. my waters broke, i went into hospital and they told me that they needed to induce me and delivered the baby quickly. i was induced and a little while later in the morning at about eight o'clock of the medical staff came in, there was a bit of a panic in the room about the baby's heart rate, saying it was declining. they said they needed to do an emergency c—section. i signed the paperwork for that, did the pre—meds and started to prepare mentally to cut down to theatre to have the c—section. it was confirmed
1:45 pm
to go ahead a short while later and then suddenly the consultant came into the room and said we are not going ahead any more with the c—section, the baby's heart rate is stable, and i think that is when the mood really changed and it was a really stressful moment, just seeing the reaction of the staff in the room, lots of concerned faces, some of them raise their concerns and it ended up being a disagreement on the staff in the room whether they should go ahead with the c—section. there ended up being a vote and i was asked to vote on whether we should go ahead or not and i was shocked by this and i couldn't believe what was going on around me. that is where it was stressful, it was scary and in the end i was told
1:46 pm
that we weren't going to go
