lizo mzimba, bbc news. time for a look at the weather. here's ben. a bit ofa a bit of a mixed week ahead but it doesn't mean it is all bad new, some warmth and sunshine as we saw in eastern parts of england today, in fact some north sea coasts were warmer than they were over the weekend. but, out toward the west, very different scene, a lot of cloud, rain, hammering down there in haverfordwest. as a result of this swirl of cloud. an area of low pressure and a frontal system, slow—moving so it has been raining for much of the day in the southwest, wales, northern ireland, that rain slowly pushing a bit further northwards and eastwards as we go through what will be a very mild even warm night and behind that rain band, clear skies getting into parts —— parts of wales but we will see showers breaking out here as we head through tomorrow. all things

being considered a brighter day than today, where as for of the of the eastern coasts we will see cloud and rain, rain lingeren on the north coast. northern scotland will see sunshine, that may be where we have a the highest temperatures, but generally speaking 16—20 still not bad going for this time of year, now that slow—moving weather front still just about in place on wednesday, cloud and some rain in northern england, the odd sharp shower in the southwest of scotland. 23 in the highlands, as we head through wednesday, low pressure in charge of things this week but tending to slip southwards as we head towards the end of the week, so across the northern half of the uk, there will still be a decent amount of dry weather, temperatures, parts of scotland, particularly still getting up scotland, particularly still getting up into the low 20, further south i think there be more in the way of shower, some of those on the heavy side but still bright spells in

boxing champion lauren price — adding to her glittering collection of achievements following victory in cardiff this weekend. hello there, and welcome along to sportsday. and the build up to a nervy week in the premier league title race has begun. the season will be decided on the final day — with arsenal currently top, following their win at manchester united yesterday. champions manchester city though have their fate in their own hands. and how about this for a potential twist — they take on arsenal's rivals tottenham tomorrow — leading many gunners fans praying for a favour from their arch—rivals. anything other than a city win will keep arsenal top, before the last round of matches. ben croucher reports. and then there were... how many? to teens in this title race and for

manchester city, two games between them and another premier league. if it weren't for city we will be showering arsenal for victory over manchester united and ensuring it will go down to the final day. the maths is pretty simple they are a part behind arsenal but have the game in hand again spurs when that and at home against... on sunday and any dropped points it is a vintage arsenal. you are thinking this is manchester city at the stage of the season and you would be right. 21 had been in the league at the start of the december scoring for fun of late as well but this is the but. they have never one and the lead at the tottenham hotspur is stadium. we the tottenham hotspur is stadium. - played really, really good many times in scoring when the games. but at the same to do something in this country another team has never done it so you have to do something especially exceptional, i would say. it has not happened in the premier league, never ever. we have to do it

the 2—1 defeat to celtic on saturday left them six points behind their rivals — and with a goal difference inferior by seven — with both teams having two games remaining. rangers are without several key players, but they're not giving up hopejust yet. even with two losses and a draw, we are one point in the six months in this last six months. so, no, it is not a big game but we need to prove on the pitch and the results against each other and in the other games also because it is not only against each other. news in the women's super league now — and after seven years, vivianne miedema is to leave arsenal at the end of the season. the dutch international — a household name of the wsl, has set plenty of benchmarks in her career so far. she's the league's all time top scorer, with 79 goals winning the golden boot, as the season's top scorer, twice. miedema has smashed club records too. with an incredible 125 goals,

miedema will know them very well but i think her style of play, she's a very intelligent footballer and likes to play with the ball at her feet and i think it will suit city. so you can see why they are interested in her but definitely one to keep an eye on. let's have a quick look at some other football stories. more milestones for english referee rebecca welch, who has been picked to officiate the women's champions league final between barcelona and lyon later this month. earlier this season, she became the first woman to referee a premier league game bournemouth head coach andoni iraola has signed a i2—month contract extension — to keep him at the side for at least the next two years. the 41—year—old has bournemouth in 11th, with their highest points total of 48 in the premier league, during his first season in charge. everton captain seamus coleman has said he considering a new offer from the club. coleman, who has made a club—record 363 premier league appearances for the side, led a tough campaign, where the side just about managed to avoid relegation and were handed point deductions on two occasions.

just over a month until the european championship in germany. and the england manager gareth southgate will be hoping to steer his side to success this summer and will equal the number of games managed by the late sir bobby robson. southgate — along with our reporter alex howell — has been to the hospital in newcastle that treated the late england manager throughout his cancer diagnosis. he started by telling him what the expectations are for his team heading into the tournament. well, excited, which i think everybody i seemed to bump into feels the same. i think everybody knows we've got some really exciting players. gareth southgate is one of the longest—serving england managers. he has been in charge for nearly eight years. this summer, he and the squad will head to germany for his fourth major tournament. is this the most expectation you've had going into a tournament? well, i would say yes, because of what we've done in the previous tournaments.
6:42 pm
and i think there's always expectation with england anyway, we know that. but i think there's belief within the playing group. perhaps the expectation matches the capability a little bit more than it has done historically. you have players like jude bellingham, harry kane, phil foden, ollie watkins all arguably having their best seasons they've had. good options to have, but also a problem as well, trying to fit them all in one team? well, we won't fit them all in but, yeah, they're nice problems to have. you'd rather have talent and have to make decisions based on form than not have those options. and they seem to have a really different mentality — this young group players — particularlyjude bellingham. just a few words on what you've seen from him this last year and what he's doing at real madrid. to have the impact that he's had — the number of goals, big goals, winning goals. you know, he's got an insatiable desire to win. and, you know, that mentality is possibly the thing that stands out.
6:43 pm
we're here at the freeman hospital. why are you making a visit here today? it's a great privilege to be able to come here where sir bobby obviously came for treatment, but also had such a massive impact on the fundraising that's allowed the hospital to continue with the trials that they do. take it down... no, no, no... sir bobby, of course, huge in the north east but, of course, with his england connection as well. after the two warm—up games ahead of the euros, you're going to be on the same number of games managed as england manager, as sir bobby robson. what does that mean to you to match someone with that history in the game? he's one of the icons of english football, really, so i'm hugely proud to be mentioned in the same sentence. so gareth, it's mental health awareness week and the players
6:44 pm
going into a tournament, they're under so much scrutiny and pressure. how much do you have to deal with the players* mental health or consider it when you're going into a tournament like this? the live unusual lives. you know, there's a huge commitment to theirjob — an obsession at times with being the best they can possibly be. and that leads them to putting huge pressure on themselves. so clearly, when you're part of an england team, there's a lot of external noise and you've got to try to navigate your way through that. but i think, ultimately for everybody, the most important thing to control is the voice in their own head. that's the voice that can give you doubt. can cause you anxiety. we feel in a good place, but it's knock—out football and knock—out football anything can happen. a lot has been made about your future. your contract*s expiring at the the end of the year in december, and obviously you've been linked to jobs elsewhere. do you think it'll be a talking point heading into the tournament?
6:45 pm
well, for me, it's not an issue and never has been. i have to deliver a successful tournament for england and my focus is on how do we go a step further than we went in the last euros? it'll be very hard to leave, i'm guessing if the tournament went perfect and england win the euros. well, if that's a problem we're worried about, then i'd be very happy. and you can watch the full interview with gareth southgate on the bbc iplayer and the bbc sport website. osian roberts — part of wales' euro 2016 coaching staff — has made history — becoming the first welshman to secure promotion to italy's top league. como appointed roberts just 5 months ago — after being recommended by one of the club's owners — the france and arsenal legend — thierry henry. more now from tomos dafydd. with its breathtaking views at the foot of the alps, little wonder lake osian roberts is a
