just a point from their final two games of the season. they'll now lift the trophy in front of their own fans after the game against st mirren on saturday. jane dougall was at rugby park. the stadium has cleared now, but celtic have left knowing that they have the league title. this has been a tough ground to come to — twice this season celtic have lost here against kilmarnock — but on this occasion, they needn't have worried. afterjust four minutes, the first goal went in — it was adam idah who scored for them. then just eight minutes later, they got there second, then it just became an onslaught as the fifth goal went in, the fans in the away end celebrated knowing that the title was theirs, a third scottish premiership title in a row and the first for their returning manager, brendan rodgers. well, this weekend on saturday, they will lift the trophy for the first time in front of their home fans at celtic park. the battle for europa league

and europa conference league is going right to the wire. cheslesa boosted their hopes of a top six finish with a 2—1 win at brighton in the premier league. mauricio pochetino�*s side made it four straight wins in a game that saw cole palmer score his 22nd league goal of the season. cheslea climb to sixth in the table with bournemouth to play on the final day. the victory, i think it's great for our players. and yes, i'm so happy because the three points puts us in a very good position on the table to attack in the last game against bournemouth, with the possibility in europe. manchester united could miss out on europe completely, despite beating newcastle 3—2 at old trafford. anything other than a win for erik ten hag's side would have condemned them to their lowest league finish in sa years. rasmus hojlund broke his ten—game scoring drought to score united's third of the evening. they go to brighton for their final game

of the season on sunday. it's always nice to win any game, but yeah, it's important to win the last game in old trafford for the season. and it's very important, and i think the fans deserve this because they've had such difficult times — as we had — but they always stayed with us. we go to brighton, and the last game is important for the rankings, so we needed three points, and that was the only way we don't have it in our hands, but we have to do our job to win the game there. frustrating for us, i think, away from home this year, our record hasn't been good enough. and a familiar scene for us, really, i thought we conceded some poor goals today. i think that's cost us the game, i think it was a decent performance, we looked a good team, but let down by some of our defending, really. wolves are calling on the premier league to scrap var next season. they've triggered a vote at the agm on the 6th ofjune by formally submitting a resolution to have it removed. wolves say that after five seasons, "it's time for a constructive and critical

debate on its future". in response, the premier league say they fully support its use and remain committed alongside the pgmol, to improving var for the benefit of the game and fans. joe lynskey has more. this is a club whose manager has just received a one—match touchline ban for comments about a var decision. gary o'neill called the disallowed goal for his team against west ham last month "one of the worst decisions i've ever witnessed" — and really this season, he's not shied away from criticising on field and the video officials, right from last august when wolves, you might remember, were denied a penalty in the last minute at old trafford. now his club, the club itself had gone even further — they've released a statement saying, "var is damaging the relationship between fans and football." they go into some detail on bullet points on why that is, saying it impacts goal celebrations and spontaneous passion, they say it creates frustration and hostility towards the premier league from the crowd, and that var over

analyses subjective decisions. now wolves concluded the statement, which has triggered this vote, by saying, "the price we are playing for a small increase in accuracy is at odds with the spirit of our game, and as a result, we should remove var from next season onwards." there promises to be a thrilling end to the women's super league season after chelsea won 1—0 at tottenham. maika hamano scored to send chelsea top of the table, but they're only ahead of manchester city on goal difference, withjust two more. emma hayes�*s side go to manchester united for theirfinal game on saturday, with city at aston villa. we go to old trafford, and a fitting finale for me, my final game. as i said to the players, you know, "if someone gives you a second chance in life, make sure you don't need a third one."

to the table with both hoping to etch their name into the history books. ade adedoyin is there for us. well, one of the talking points in the lead—up to this fight is whether tyson fury will come in lighter than he's done for his previous bouts, and a lot of messages on social media to suggest he might. we got to see him out front at today's public work—out was up alongside me is the tokyo bronze medallist fraser clark — now professional, who will hope to challenge for the title one day. you watched him up close, what did you make of tyson fury? he looked light, but then again ijust think he is carrying it different. i don't think he is much lighter, he's probably put a lot more muscle on. obviously he looked better than last time, but he looked loose. if you're a trainer in the team, you always like to see your fighter looking loose, and it looked like he was out there enjoying it. at this stage of fight week, you're doing a lot of stuff that's repetitive, speaking to a lot of media, everyone wants a piece of you — that was one of the rare times he probably enjoyed himself when it was just him, the trainer, and he was in the boxing ring.

that's like home to a fighter in fight week. so i think he looked good. what was interesting is i saw you talking to oleksandar usyk, he was laughing and joking, and seemed quite relaxed, but he stayed to watch tyson fury go through his work—out. did that surprise you, and what would he take from that? it didn't surprise me, i don't think he would've taken too much from it — same way that tyson, if he does see oleksandr�*s work—out, he wouldn't take much from that. but there was a shift in focus, i can't lie, he was laughing and joking, then all of a sudden, boom, he was focused on tyson for a good 5—6 minutes, no blinking, just looked at him. i ain't even asked him, i said, "when does it become exciting this week?" because i know, i've been there a lot of times, it's a lot of stresses and commitments, "when does it become exciting 7 " he said, "it becomes exciting when it becomes real," and that's from the second he gets in the ring, he said the blinkers come on and it's just tyson fury and the referee. so from that moment there, it becomes exciting because he loves what he does. it is getting very real — fraser clark there, bronze medallist from the tokyo games,

weather on the way to parts of england and wales with some thundery rain at times. on wednesday, here's the day of sunny spells and passing showers. some of those showers, mind you, were very heavy, for example, here in hebden bridge. but looking at the satellite picture, you can see a stripe of cloud just here, that's a weather front that stretches all the way into europe. there's our fronts. but bumping into that front, we've got this trough here, this line of very intense showers. you might get the sense that these areas of rain are merging together. well, i think that's exactly what's going on. and they will tend to run towards england over the coming hours. so weather wise, over the next few hours, not so much of an issue. we'll have some low cloud effects, some of our north sea coast, a few mist and fog patches here and occasional spots of rain or drizzle. drier weather elsewhere, with temperatures around 10—11 celsius quite widely. the problems with the forecast come tomorrow. i think there is a risk of seeing more widespread rain initially across eastern areas of england through thursday morning before moving across the midlands and on it's

parts of wales and the west country as we head into the afternoon. so the details are going to be quite difficult to come by but expect the chance of seeing some heavy thundery rain at times across parts of england and wales. further northwards for northern ireland sunshine through the morning and a dry morning. the afternoon, yeah, you could see a storm or two breaking out. most of scotland, in contrast to all of that will be dry, although there will be some mist and low cloud across eastern areas and spots of drizzle through the morning, the afternoon, the best of the sunshine into the northwest and that's where we'll see temperatures at their highest, probably reaching around 23 celsius or so. heading into friday the weather pattern is still rather unsettled, but hopefully a bit more straightforward. it should be a day of sunshine and showers through the afternoon for england and wales. some of those turning heavy and thundery. the drier weather will be further north again for scotland and for northern ireland, where most places will keep spells of sunshine and temperatures well into the low twenties. that's going to feel pleasant with light winds for the weekend weather picture, we're still at low

pressure close to the south of the uk, a ridge of high pressure trying to build in from the northwest. and so it's again scotland and northern ireland that will have the dry ice weather through the weekend. england and wales, meanwhile, will have the chance of seeing a few more showers to come. bye for now.
