for weeks and their fans were confident that today would be today because they know that city have been in this position before and they don't falter with the finish line in sight. they are a relentless winning machine and now have done something unique, made history and won four league titles in a row. it is something the great teams of the past, over decades, over a century of english football have not been able to attain. huddesfield in the 1920s, arsenal in the 1930s. liverpool in the 1980s enjoyed so much success and of course manchester united's teams under sir alex ferguson in that era were never able to go more than three titles in a row. city have managed that and it is history made here at the etihad. for many outside the city's fan base, and fans will not like me for mentioning it, there

is a cloud currently over this achievement. while those financial charges over the club from the premier league remain unresolved. it is more than a year since they were hit with 115 allegations with breaching rules, charges they strongly denied and there seems no hearing confirmed yet. in the meantime, city will get their hands on this trophy, they may get their hands on another one next weekend. they take on manchester united in the fa cup, hoping to become the first time to win a double domestic double. so it's an incredible sixth league title in the last seven years for city's manager pep guardiola. in terms of numbers, nobody has been better than us. the records, the goals, the points, four in a row. i said before i land here tomorrow and in the next seven years — you win six premier league. i said, are you crazy? so, i cannot figure it out. it is impossible. we have done something unbelievable. one of the best days

of my life, i think. to start the game so well with the early strike. one of the best feelings today i'm sure. we have got ourselves in history. never done before so it shows how hard it is. i want to continue working hard. so many things i can improve. and one more final to go. well, it all means arsenal finished behind city for the second year in a row, ending their campaign with a 2—1 home victory over everton, and had it not been for some fine saves by everton*sjordan pickford the margin of victory could have been even better. it's their 28th win of the season which is a club record. it is the only way. so now we have seen him there and we are there and they took it away from us. and it is the second season so there is only one way to do it. we have to be more determined, more ambitious, we need to have a lot of courage and push every limit and everything that we have

because that is the next step. proud of them. upset today, because he was hoping one of these london clubs could do us a favour. we will come next week, stronger and harder. arsenal, spirit. it feels this pointy our, but when we look back what an amazing achievement it has been. meanwhile at anfield, jurgen klopp said farewell to liverpool after nearly nine years in charge. he signed off with a 2—0 home win over wolves in a part—carnival, part sad—atmosphere as fans said goodbye to their most successful manager in the premier league. ben croucher reports. you are the best team in the world! thank you! if you did not know it already, in liverpooljurgen klopp will never walk alone. amazing. absolutely amazing. every loyal fan for the last ten years.

he has made the city a better place and made us believe again. nine years ago, an ordinary man, a domestic manager walked into and felt all in his word. i am the normal one... defined notjust by trophies but by his charisma, character and indelible legacy left delectable. once the small matter of football was out of the way, a win over wolves the main attraction. i'm so happy about, about you're welcome back the atmosphere, the game, being part of this family, about us! how we celebrated this day! it is just incredible. thank you so much. from doubters to believers, but a team of city that have conquered more too. with his head held high, it is bye from the cop from klopp. elsewhere there were wins for

manchester united who finished eighth, their worst—ever premier league finish. nottingham forest, chelsea, crystal palace, fulham and tottenham who finish above chelsea in fifth to qualify for the europa league. as expected, luton were officially relegated today. they conceded 85 league goals this season, with only sheffield united and darmstadt letting in more across europe's top five leagues. we scored a lot of goals this year. we have been good to watch. involved in lots of great games but, as you say, we have conceded too many and that balance is something we have to try to address and we know where we need to keep improving and keep working on. but we have grown. we have changed and evolved and improved so much. there is no doubt about that. so a lot of good stuff we can take and attack the championship next year. there was no fairytale sign—off in ligue un for killian mbappe who was left out of the paris saint germain side for their final league game of the season at metz. psg have already been crowned ligue un champions for a record—extending twelfth time. but the star striker, who's leaving after seven

seasons at the club, wasn't selected by coach luis enrique. mbappe is psg's all—time leading scorer with 256 goals. he's expected tojoin the spanish champions, real madrid. england's women completed a 3—0 t20 series clean sweep over pakistan. danni wyatt top scored with 87 as they made 176 all out at headingley. the target proved well beyond pakistan who started well but fell 3a runs short at headingley. the two sides start a one day series on thursday as they build towards the world cup later in the year. formula i and max verstappen won his fifth race of the season, holding—off a late surge from lando norris to take victory at the emilia—romagna grand prix. despite struggling with his tyres in the closing stages at imola, verstappen held on to stretch his lead in the standings to 48 points as he chases a fourth world title. ferrari's charles leclerc took the final podium place to move into second in the championship,

ahead of verstappen*s team—mate sergio perez. especially the last 10—15 laps — i was sliding a lot. the last ten laps was just flat out but it is very difficult when the tyres are not working anymore and you have to go flat out. i could not afford to make too many mistakes. luckily we did not and of course super happy to win today. alexander zverev comfortably won the italian open, serving his way to a straight—sets victory over chile's nicolas jarry and claim his second italian open title. it moves the german up to fourth in the world rankings and puts him in a great place ahead of the french open, which starts next weekend. winning my first ever here in rome and first after injury also in rome. so rome is a special place for me. i said at the beginning of the week too, if rome is the place for a first for me, i'm extremely happy about it.

very, very special week. the focus is on paris, right? that is for sure but let me enjoy this one for a day or so and then i will have my full focus on paris. tadej pogacar continued his one—man march to his first giro d'italia title with another stage win, and now has a huge lead in the overall race standings. the slovenian two—time tour de france champion, spent most of the 15th stage sitting comfortably in the peloton before making his move with around iakm to go, leaving his rivals for the pinkjersey in his wake. it's pogacar*s fourth stage win of the tour so far and he now leads britain's geraint thomas by nearly seven minutes with the event finishing in rome next sunday. america's xander schauffele has won the uspga, golf*s second major of the year. schauffele led every round of the tournament, including equalling the record for the lowest score in major history on his first round at the valhalla course in kentucky. he managed to birdie the last.

a shot clear of bryson de chambeu and victor hovland for the biggest win of his career. there's more on an enthralling final day of the uspga on our website. as i said, it has been an extraordinary day in premier league, where manchester city have won their fourth title in the row, the first team ever to do that in english football history. from me and the team here at sports day at the bbc sports centre, goodbye. hello there. contrasting conditions as we head through this week. now, it's a dry and a warm start, with temperatures still above the seasonal average for most. lots of sunny spells around, but it will be turning cooler and then wetter and windier
2:55 am
as we head through the middle part of the week. with heavy, more persistent outbreaks of rain, temperatures returning back to the seasonal average. now, this is how we're starting off monday morning. a fresher feel to things. there are some patches of mist and fog around. lots of low cloud, particularly towards these eastern coastal areas. some fret and haar have moved in from the north sea. but the strong may sunshine will get to work on that low cloud and murk. despite the grey start, there'll be some sunny spells coming through — even, perhaps, for eastern areas of scotland, down through northeast england, where it's been cloudy and cool of late. a feed of cooler, drier air. but with the onshore breeze, it's always going to feel a little colder here. a scattering of showers across northern ireland, perhaps for north wales, and a few showers for southern england. but for most of us, it's dry, its warm and there will be a lot of sunshine around as well. a few more showers, though, overnight on monday into tuesday, just pushing northwards and westwards. again, some more fret and haar towards these north sea —facing coasts. but then in clearer spells out towards the east, temperatures could possibly drop as low as four degrees celsius. it's frost—free, but it's a cold start
2:56 am
to the day for this time of year, for some. and then into tuesday, there will be further showers. they'll be tracking their way northwards and westwards. a few more home—grown showers almost anywhere, too, with heavier downpours of rain possibly moving into the southeast of england. more showers across wales and northern ireland. but it'll still feel warm for the time of year. there'll still be some bright and sunny spells. possibly still 23 degrees celsius in southwest scotland. further south and east, in london, it's the chelsea flower show as we head through much of the rest of the week. do be prepared for some lower temperatures and a bit of wet weather at times as well. this area of low pressure will be moving in from the near continent as we head through wednesday and into thursday, tracking further northwards and westwards. so there will be some heavy downpours of rain, but still a lot of uncertainty, so do keep tuned to the forecast. but turning wetter, windier, cooler. temperatures closer to the seasonal average as we head through wednesday and thursday. possibly turning a bit
