but of course rangers, their bitter rivals, pushed them all the way for that. rangers did win the league cup, and they had been hoping for the double if they were to win the scottish cup here at hampden, but it wasn't to be. it was celtic taking it in the very last minutes. this is brendan rodgers' second piece of silverware in his returning season for the club. there was a little bit of trepidation when he was offered thejob initially, but now the celtic fans have certainly made it clear that they have welcomed him back with open arms. they have won the double this season in his first season back with the club, and the players have not stopped celebrating since. so it's the league and cup double for celtic this season. here's their boss brendan rodgers. ithink...

of managerial change. bbc sport understands that burnley boss vincent kompany has agreed a deal to take over at german side bayern munich. burnley were recently relegated from the premier league, and now their manager is departing along with two members of his backroom staff. but assistant manager craig bellamy is not heading to the bundesliga. bayern have been searching for a boss to replace thomas tuchel, who announced he would step down at the end of the season. in another managerial appointment, wayne rooney has been confirmed as the new boss of championship side plymouth argyle. rooney's previous job as manager was short—lived, as he lost nine of his 15 games in charge of birmingham city before being dismissed. it's his fourth job as a manager, having also previously been in charge at derby county and american side dc united. rooney is part of the bbc�*s fa cup final coverage and says this about his new role. i didn't expect my first question to be about plymouth argyle, for this fa cup final... laughter ..but, wayne, it'sjust been announced that you're the manager of plymouth, breaking news, and you're right beside us now. excited about the challenge?

have a really good side. now, away from football... jofra archer starred for england as they beat pakistan by 23 runs in the second t20 at egbaston. captainjos buttler top—scored with 84 from 51 balls to help england to a total of 183 from their 20 overs. in reply, pakistan struggled for momentum, and on his return to england action after injury, archer took two wickets as they bowled the tourists out for 160. archer's performance will give england a big boost ahead of the defence of their t20 world cup title next month. toulouse have won rugby union's champions cup after beating leinster, but they needed extra time to do so. with the score 15—15 at full—time, it took almost another a0 minutes for toulouse to get over the line, this try from matthis lebel helping them gain an early advantage. leinster did make somewhat of a comeback, but this thomas ramos penalty early in the second half of extra time helped

calm toulouse nerves. the french side ultimately winning 31—22 to pick up the trophy once again, sparking jubilant celebrations. in the women's premiership, saracens secured second place and a home semifinal in the play—offs with a narrow 33—31win over leaders gloucester—hartpury. may campbell's second try of the day ending gloucester�*s hopes of finishing the season unbeaten. in the super league, warrington wolves beat the catalan dragons in peripignan in france, winning 16—8 to go second in the table, level on points with st helen's. it was a rather cagey first half in the south of france, ending 2—2 after two sin bins, one for each side. in the second half, though, warrington accelerated into the lead, up 14—2 at one point. wigan warriors could join warrington wolves and at the top of the table when they play salford red devils tomorrow.

now, is red bull's period of domination in formula one coming to an end? max verstappen was expected to retain his world title with ease this year. he's already failed to win two races, and today in monaco, he failed to claim pole for the first time this season. starting from the front where it matters most will be charles leclerc. nick parrott reports. the most glamourous date on the formula i calendar is one of the toughest. monaco's narrow, twisty streets are the last place you want to get caught in traffic. that's what's happened to former winners aston martin's fernando alonso and red bull's sergio perez in the first session of qualifying. they'll start from 16th and 18th. in practice, max verstappen had complained his red bull was bouncing like a kangaroo. the world champion equalled ayrton senna's record of eight consecutive poles last time out at imola, but his hopes of bettering it ended at the first corner of his final run, leaving him sixth. this car is slippery!

lizzie deignan is the highest—placed briton in eighteenth overall, half a minute off the lead. and a day after winning the women's ten metre platform event at the british diving championships, andrea spendolini—sirieix has claimed another gold medal. victory alongside lois toulson in the ten metro synchro menas they've qualified for the paris olympics in that event. rafael nadal says he now can't be certain that this year's french open will be his last. he's been drawn against one of the favourites, alexander zverev, in the first round. it was widely expected that this year would be his last on tour, but he now says this appearance at roland garros is "probably" his last. it's a big, big chance that it's going to be my last roland garros, but if i have to tell you it's100% my last roland garros, sorry, but i will not,

because i cannot predict what's going on. my personal feelings are better now than one month and a half ago, without a doubt, so in some way, i don't want to close 100% the door. earlier, i caught up with the bbc�*s tennis correspondent russell fuller, who says nadal is feeling confident heading in to his 19th french open. the draw against alex zverev, as nadal said in his understated way, on paper is not the easiest, but i think the way that nadal was talking will give his fans a lot of confidence, because here's a man who in his last competitive match was thrashed in rome. that was only around about ten days ago. he said he was a disaster. he said he'd been practising well in rome, but he feels he has made progress since then, he's moving a lot better, he's running freely along the baseline, he's playing better. and this is roland garros, where he's a iii—time champion.

it's a horrible, horrible start for him, but of course because nadal is such a great champion at roland garros, that does cause some issues for alex zverev, because he's expected to win if you look at the seedings, but it's not easy to beat a man with such an aura in these hallowed surroundings. the order of play is for sunday and the night session sees andy murray take on stan wawrinka. both of those now, unfortunately, past their prime, but that is another blockbuster tie in the opening round? yeah, those creaking old bones may not enjoy the temperatures if it goes past midnight! the weather is fairly typical for paris in late may. the evenings are not particularly warm, and they have a combined age of 76, but what a first round draw. a lot of history at roland garros, in fact. wawrinka against murray will be the third match in a row from murray's perspective at roland garros. he has played him in two previous meetings here.

leading into a mixture for sunday and bank holiday monday of some sunshine, but also some heavy and thundery showers. it's warm today, though, across the north—west of england, where we had the sunshine. very different picture, though, earlier on in norfolk and here in suffolk with cloud and some rain. and that cloud has been coming in from off the north sea, dampening things down somewhat. we've also got this cloud that's pushing in from the south—west, and this is where we're seeing some rain arriving as well. and that cloud of rain that we've got across south—western areas will continue to work its way northwards and eastwards into more of england and wales overnight. some heavier rain develops in northern england, pushes into southern scotland, too. so, with a lot of cloud overnight and it getting wetter as well, temperatures should be typically ten or 11 degrees by the morning. and quite a wet start for some of us early on sunday morning — these two areas of rain are pushing their way northwards. and following on from that, we'll get some sunshine, but we'll see those showers developing as well, and those showers could be heavy and thundery. the greatest risk of some slow—moving, thundery downpours will be across northern england,

into the midlands, across to east anglia — risk of some local flooding as well. but with more showers around on sunday, temperatures are going to be lower than today. still could make 19 degrees, perhaps, in south—eastern parts of england. those showers are still around into the evening and they will tend to fade away from england and wales, but we'll keep some wetter weather for longer further north. and here, we've got this area of low pressure that will still be sitting close by into bank holiday monday, and again, we've got a mixture of sunshine and some showers. now, many places may start dry across england and wales and northern ireland, but the cloud will bubble up, there will be a scattering of showers developing. perhaps the heavier ones are going to be across central and northern parts of scotland with some thunder. again, in the sunshine and in the light winds, it will feel pleasant enough. those temperatures are typically going to be 16 or 17 degrees, and those numbers are not really going to change much over the week ahead. we'll keep a south—westerly wind going into the early parts of next

week, eventually turning to more of a north—westerly and cooling things down a bit in the far north—west. but otherwise, it's still going to be very unsettled — more areas of low pressure coming in, bringing showers or longer spells of rain and some sunshine in between.
