: video yesterday two pieces of video footage that showed him leaving the village where they were staying. there he is seen with a black umbrella shielding himself from the incredible heat, setting off towards a path that would have taken him to some rocky exposed hillside. we were told earlier that the body had been found on a path leading towards a cave and the thinking was doctor mosley had following some ten metres down a cliff in very difficult mountainous terrain and as i said and quite high temperatures. this is the village where he has been staying. the search was in the fifth day today, an extensive search involving helicopters, drones,

firefighters, the police, volunteers and tourists as well coming forward to help look for michael mosley. by eight is now possible for us to confirm that the body that was discovered near the cave is that of doctor michael mosley. let me share this statement with you it is from his wife. she says, i don't know quite where to begin with this. it is devastating to have lost michael, my wonderful, funny, kind has been. we had incredible lucky life together. we loved each other very much and were so happy together. iming —— i am incredibly proud of our children. ourfamily have been hugely comforted by the outpouring of love. it is clear that michael meant a huge amount to so many. we are taking comfort in the fact that

inventive man that he is, we just hoped that there would be good news at the end of this, just kept thinking he would find a way to make it out and we would have a hell of a story from him so, even though things were stacked against him as the days rolled on, just kept hoping the news would be good. there has been no formal identification of this body, which we learned had been found today, but the sheer number of people who have expressed concern just shows the esteem in which he has been held for many years. definitely. michael is a national treasure. he is so personable. i remember, when i was first invited to audition for the programme, it included sitting down and doing
1:36 pm
an on—screen tape with michael, and, when i heard about it, i was nervous, but the moment i arrived and sat down with him in front of the camera, i forgot the cameras were there, and i have been thinking about it a lot today, that was my first experience of working like that with someone in television and really i can now appreciate that not everyone is able to make other people feel so at ease with lights and cameras in front of them, but then to forget about all of that and just to focus on the science, the story and the message we're to get out, he is such a hugely talented man. we hear from we hearfrom michael all we hear from michael all the

apprehensive and not knowing how i was going to cope. he talked to me about hormone which had never heard of and he told me that it was the hunger hormone. he said look, all you have to tackle is the little hormone. it's telling you you're hungry now that you know what it is you can deal with it. that's what it was like with him. he was on the subject all the time. she was like with him. he was on the subject all the time.— was like with him. he was on the subject all the time. she spoke to les earlier — subject all the time. she spoke to les earlier and _ subject all the time. she spoke to les earlier and she _ subject all the time. she spoke to les earlier and she was _ subject all the time. she spoke to les earlier and she was a - les earlier and she was a co—presenter with doctor michael mosley. we are joined co—presenter with doctor michael mosley. we arejoined now co—presenter with doctor michael mosley. we are joined now by our culture and media correspondent. we were hearing from a former colleague just how admired he was. i met were hearing from a former colleague just how admired he was.— just how admired he was. i met him at the few times. _ just how admired he was. i met him at the few times. i _ just how admired he was. i met him at the few times. i went _ just how admired he was. i met him at the few times. i went to - just how admired he was. i met him at the few times. i went to a - just how admired he was. i met him at the few times. i went to a public| at the few times. i went to a public event and it was one of those slightly chaotic things where you grab slightly chaotic things where you gmba slightly chaotic things where you grab a quick sound bite and i had to

1:41 pm
trained as a banker originally and then moved into training as a doctor, he wanted to be a psychiatrist. he realised... he moved into television. for many years there are many people today like brian cox, adam mckay, figures of bbcjournalism, they have all said thank you to him for being a producer. what transformed his life and made him think differently was a programme i remember watching in 1995. i remember in the 80s that ulcers were caused by stress. it was the tired and overworked executive who got ulcers. and barry marsh are with an australian academic, scientist who said no, i think it's a bacteria. he said but i'm going to
1:42 pm
do is prove it. i'm going to swallow it and create an ulcer. and he did a programme about this man who i think now has a nobel prize and he realised that self experiment was the proof that was required. you can tell people anything you like about good advice, eat greens, eat more plants, avoid sugar if you can, but if you show it, then people might believe you. and he said doctor barry marshall convinced him, yes, self experiment michael took to get back to extraordinary levels like when he swallowed tapeworms. it's a moment where you go, i think this is above and beyond the call of tv. but there is always serious science behind it. and i think what it was like the realisation that there has been so much extraordinary science,
1:43 pm
the gut microbe i am, all of these things has been an extraordinary story and he has told it vivid way. he had an impact of people going, yes, i'm going to try eating greens. the list of people who have lost weight. george osborne went on the diet. the 52 diet. the weight. george osborne went on the diet. the 52 diet.— diet. the 52 diet. the fast 800. that is the _ diet. the 52 diet. the fast 800. that is the other _ diet. the 52 diet. the fast 800. that is the other one. _ diet. the 52 diet. the fast 800. that is the other one. the - diet. the 52 diet. the fast 800. that is the other one. the point you're making is that michael made an overwhelming amount of scientific evidence relatable to people that those without scientific training could understand it because he broke it down into micro habits. i could understand it because he broke it down into micro habits.— it down into micro habits. i don't want to be _ it down into micro habits. i don't want to be disparaging _ it down into micro habits. i don't want to be disparaging about. it down into micro habits. i don't. want to be disparaging about some
