we will see some spells of sunshine, but it's not all plain sailing, some areas of cloud and even some rain, paricularly in the west, and actually, on the weather chart for friday, you can see this frontal system pushing its way in from the west. that is going to bring outbreaks of rain for some of us. rain moving in across parts of northern ireland, some showery rain across parts of western scotland, the west of wales, the far southwest of england. ahead of that, we will hold on to some spells of sunshine into the afternoon, and it will be in eastern parts we see the highest of the temperatures, 22—23 degrees. a little bit cooler out towards the west. now, as we head into the start of the weeked that frontal system willjust tend to break apart. but it will leave a residue of cloud into saturday morning, perhaps some spots of drizzle as it moves across the southeast corner. and then, while we will see some spells of sunshine through the day on saturday, we also have the chance of some showers, particularly central and eastern parts of england and more cloud and a bit of showery rain into northern ireland and north—west scotland. but eastern scotland, quite warm. 20 degrees there for aberdeen. parts of england and wales into the high teens, low 20s celsius.

now, by sunday, still a fair amount of cloud in the mix. that cloud perhaps becoming focused across england and wales, maybe giving the odd shower, a little bit brighter for northern ireland and scotland. temperatures, north to south, well, maybejust 15 in stornaway, but 24 degrees in london — a sign of things to come. now, on this chart you can see the jet stream, the flow of winds high in the atmosphere, steering weather systems around the world, and you can see the jet stream bending to the north of the uk, allowing high pressure to build, and allowing this warm air to push its way northwards across the uk. with that warmth, we will also see increasingly humid conditions. it is not always going to be sunny, though. you can see for monday's forecast chart fair amounts of cloud. there will be some spells of sunshine but it's unlikely to be sunny all the time. there could even be one or two showers. but look at these temperatures — quite widely into the 20s, we could see highs of 26 or 27 degrees. as we move into tuesday,

the jet stream still bending to the north of us, but notice the jet stream digging southwards out in the atlantic, that may come into play a little bit later in the week. but ahead of that we will see a fair amount of dry weather on tuesday, deal with areas of cloud, still with showers in fact, increasing chance of showers, but that warm and humid feel, 21—26. i would not be at all surprised if someone is up got to 27 or 28 degrees. but later in the week, and there is a lot of uncertainty about the timing of this, it does look like this dip in the jet stream will then move across the uk and that will leave us with low pressure, showers along longer spells of rain at times, but not all the time. and while it is going to get as cool as it was earlier on this month, the warm air is likely to be pushed away southeast woods. away southeastwards. so temperatures are likely to return to where would expect them to be at the time of year.
