the easiest team in the group. let's hope hungary are not used to these damp conditions as much as scotland are. england have come in for heavy criticism since their 1—1 draw against denmark on thursday. gareth southgate's side sit top of group c with their final game of the opening phase against slovenia on tuesday, and qualification to the last 16 appearing to be on the cards. so how has the mood among the playing group been given the outside noise? i put this to our football reporter alex howell who's in germany following the squad. there has been lots of reaction and criticism really to the first two performances from england, even though they are top of the group, especially after that draw with denmark. gareth southgate came out after the game and he said the players were not able to do what they wanted to do or did not control possession as well as they would have liked. harry kane after the match said they were not 100% sure what to do when they were in possession.

a little bit of confusion without the ball as well. one player who came on in that match and also featured in the first game is west ham forward jared bowen. he has been speaking about the mood and reaction in the england camp. it is really high and we try not to get involved in the outside world because what we have is a really tight group and a togetherness and we have sat here with four points and it is the standards we have said that it is not two wins but it is still four points and we as top of the group and in control of our own destiny. there has been a question mark over the fitness of key players. there really has. again, the england manager gareth southgate singh after the draw with denmark that the players were not able to press the ball well enough and that they are actually managing a few physical conditions in this team and if you look actually at the starting line—up, it could be that four

7:48 pm
you could tell from his reaction he knew that he had done enough and he was going to the olympics. we caught up with him afterwards. this is a dream come true and i never knew i would have this tree. you spend three years of your life trying to do something and it works out. it is an amazing feeling. it is a turn of weight that i have had to carry around this qualifying series and i have got rid of that and the relief feels amazing. there was less good news for charlotte worthington. he is the raining olympic champion in bmx freestyle. she came into the final in 12 possession knowing that she needed a big performance if he was to climb up the global leaderboard and secure an automatic qualification spot for paris. as it turned out, she finished in tenth but she could still qualify for the olympic games indirectly and that is because there are five quota places available based on results at previous championships. in the coming days, we will know
7:49 pm
if the boe as been allocated one of them they have a decision to make as to who they give that play still. here a charlotte worthington after her final talking about the situation. i am a bit in limbo until you get it on paper and it is official. i have to wait until the selection date and see what the deal is with that. and to be sure that we have fully qualified because it is a little bit confusing for everyone still. i am a little bit in limbo but you have to assume that you are going and put your all into training and get back into it as sooner you get home. it is notjust about the bmx, there was also sport climbing, breaking, that starts tomorrow, skateboarding taking place in budapest. in the women's boulder, erin macneice is in a good really good position to qualify. she is into the final tomorrow, finishing third in shanghai.
7:50 pm
