again, next few days, once again, temperatures struggling, a good few degrees down and where they should be for the time of year, despite high pressure building in from the west. the reason for the cooler feel is the wind direction coming in from the north. we start tomorrow with quite a lot of cloud around, light drizzly rain across northern england, may be sharp and thundery downpours developing across the far south—west. the best of the sunshine, though, are likely to be further north. here, we have brisk winds running down to the east coast, but towards western scotland, we could see 20 degrees, very welcome news indeed. but along the exposed east coast, temperatures struggling, low teens at the very best at times. into the weekend, high pressure hangs around, don't get too excited. this low pressure out to the east could influence the story across eastern england as well, so all in all a bit of a mess. quite a lot of cloud around, the best brightness further west, some

have a really inspiring effect here on grassroots football.— on grassroots football. -- it is aood on grassroots football. -- it is good reminder. _ danjohnson. well, gareth southgate's side aren't the only england football team in action this week. the lionesses have an important euro 2025 qualifier against the republic of ireland tomorrow. that match being played at norwich's carrow road. and let's not forget, sarina wiegman's team know a thing or two about winning european championships. and after last year's world cup final, they also know what it's like to face a spain side in a majorfinal. matt graveling reports. while there will be a lot of talk about the england men's game on sunday to try and win the european title, the england women have two big games themselves to try and defend the european title. the lionesses will be bolstered by the return of goalkeeper mary earps and also that huge win against group leaders france last month. but you can rest assured when the team train here at carrow road, which will host tomorrow evening's game, there will have been a little bit of teasing of their dutch manager sarina wiegman, who earlier told us how she felt when 0llie watkins' winner hit the net. to be really honest, of course i wish the very, very best for gareth and his team and know so many people, of course, because we're colleagues,
6:42 pm
but it did hurt a little bit. my 0range heart hurt. the lionesses currently sit third in their group, just behind tuesday's opponents sweden on goal difference, but automatic qualification is still very much in their hands as they prepare to take on this republic of ireland team tomorrow evening. striker lauren hemp, from this part of the world, says that the men's march to the final on sunday is making them relive some of their special moments from two years ago. when we won the euros, i think that was probably the best day of my life, still today, and we want to do the same again next year. and that starts from qualifying now and winning both our games and putting us in a great position, and these are all camps to prepare us for that. so, yeah, i mean, it's so nice to see the men doing that at the moment, and it does make us sort of relive them special moments, but... yeah, we're all excited for the weekend and for them to play as well, but at the moment, our full focus is on tomorrow and getting thatjob done. the last time england women were here was in 2022, when they were held by spain

to a 0—0 draw. five months on from that, they went on to lift the european trophy. that's a title they will want to defend. well, 27,000 people are going to be packed inside a sell—out carrow road tomorrow to see if they can do just that. matt graveling, bbc news. we'll return to the football a little later in the programme — because it's a really busy day of sporting action elsewhere. we'll get all the latest from lord's shortly. but let's head a few miles further south and get the latest from the all england club. chetan pathak has been watching a dramatic day of women's semifinal action. chetan, what a dayjasmine paolini. absolutely, gavin, and incurred a moment forjasmine paolini, it has felt like the day this image is needed, with the sun shining, and on centre courtjasmine needed, with the sun shining, and on centre court jasmine paolini needed, with the sun shining, and on centre courtjasmine paolini is needed, with the sun shining, and on centre court jasmine paolini is a wimbledon finalist. i'm not sure many people have predicted that. she never reach the second week of a grand slam six weeks ago, now she has beaten donna vekic in three sets to reach a wimbledon final that was two hours and 51 minutes long, this

we're going to see some severe storms develop across europe, a developing area of low pressure. and it all helps to increase the northerly air flow that we're going to experience into friday. it's that which is bringing the cooler air in place through the night. lots of cloud outbreaks of rain and drizzle, england and wales especially. some clearer skies, scotland, northern ireland, though — temperatures here could drop into mid—single figures for friday morning. here, though, some of the brightest weather to come on friday, a lot of cloud for england and wales. there will be some brighter breaks here and there. some of you will see sunshine. outbreaks of rain and drizzle, though, pushing their way southwards. maybe the odd thunderstorm in the south—west and south wales later, but really grey conditions and breezy conditions later on across eastern counties of england, the wind picking up. lightest of the winds, though, with the sunshine in south—west scotland is where we'll see the highest of the temperatures — 20 degrees, compared tojust 13 or 1a as a high on the east coast. it really will not feel like summer at all. now, into friday night, the breeze strengthens a bit more across some of those eastern coasts, further rain or drizzle around at times. but as we go into the weekend, just watching this area of low pressure, which is going to extend a bit

of an influence out towards the east of the country. it is only going to give us a glancing blow, but it's going to be enough on saturday as that extends out to scandinavia to bring increased cloud, greater chance of rain at times across those eastern counties of england and parts of scotland and a stronger wind. away from that, to the south and the west on saturday, though, fair bit of cloud at times, some sunshine and one or two showers, although temperatures still lower than average. into sunday, our area of low pressure starts to pull away again, so it's an improving day. lots of cloud to begin with, some patchy drizzle across eastern areas, but overall drier through the afternoon. much more sunshine developing, especially to the south and the west, and it will start to feel a bit warmer.
