in what could be her last olympic performance, us gymnast simone biles wins silver in the floorfinal. a warning overfake weight loss drugs. pharmacists urge people not to buy the jabs online — despite a severe shortage. now, with all the latest, here's the bbc sports centre. we're into the final week of the olympics, and the track cycling programme has started in paris, and what a start from team gb in the women's team sprint. in their opening qualifying race, the trio of emma finucane, sophie capewell and katy marchant set a world record time of just over 45 seconds. that will give them top seeding when they race again in the next half hour. the gold medal race takes place this evening. great britain have already been

on the podium today, twice in the kayak cross. in the mens final, joe clarke — who won both his quarter and semi—final races — started slowly, and managed to recover, from last to second, to win silver. new zealand's finn butcher took gold. in the women's race, kimberley woods — wearing that greeny blue bib — got to the front, only to get tangled up in the final gate, eventually crossing the line last. however, a fault from germany's elena lilik, meant that woods was bumped up to bronze. that's her second medal at the games, she also won bronze in the k1. there was an incredible finish to the triathlon mixed relay. germany took gold but the british quartet of alex yee, georgia taylor—brown, sam dickinson and beth potter thought they'd won silver, after a storming finish from potter, it was a photo finish on the line,

5:35 pm
manchester has given a news conference about the violence. mil conference about the violence. fill residents of greater manchester can be assured that we will do everything within our power to keep you safe and those taking part in criminal activities, they will face every possible consequence. over the weekend, there were 19 arrests and i can update the figures for you. there have been for more arrests today, and totalled 23 arrests. people are being brought before the courts today and will continue to be brought before them for the remainder of this week. many more offenders are being identified, more doors will be knocked on and more offenders will be brought to justice. there is not and there will never be two—tier policing and greater manchester. criminality is criminality. if you break the law,
5:36 pm
you will face the consequences. it's as simple as that. this morning, there were hundreds of thousands of people in our city region who will have gone out of their doors to work looking over their shoulder. just think about that for one minute and what that must feel like. some of the people taking to the streets and shouting, quote we want our country back", and facts want to make it something it has never been before, a place where people fear for their safety going about their everyday business. you must not and we will not let them prevail. iran says it is does not want to escalate tensions in the middle east, but believes it needs to punish israel to prevent further instability in the region. but there are fears that a major escalation is imminent. this follows last week's killings of the hamas political chief in tehran and a senior commander of the lebanese group hezbollah. the iranian—backed armed group has vowed to avenge the killings.
5:37 pm
a growing number of countries, including the us and saudi arabia, have urged their citizens to leave lebanon as soon as possible. in gaza, the hamas—run health ministry says the death toll from the war has now reached 39,623 people. in the latest assault, israel struck two schools in gaza city housing displaced people. the israeli military said it targeted hamas in what they called "control rooms" in the school buildings. our middle east correspondent yolande knell has more. yeah, i mean, a lot is going on diplomatically with these different overtures towards iran, particularly through arab countries in the region, to try to urge restraint. but as you say, it's really seen as such a humiliation, what happened in tehran last week with the assassination of the hamas leader, ismail haniyeh. so, you know, iran, of course, backs different armed
5:38 pm
groups around this region. they include hamas. they include hezbollah as well. and now there is this raised expectation of an attack on israel, a major attack by iran, that could involve its proxies as well. what we've seen in the past day is a continuation across the israel—lebanon border of these exchanges of fire between the israeli military and hezbollah. but really, the expectation is of something much greater that is imminent. and you've got the pentagon that has moved some of its major military assets to the region. it's treating this notjust as a way of showing its ironclad support for israel, but as we were hearing there, a way of also protecting its own interests, its own forces around the region, which could be potential targets as well. i mean, israel is staying defiant. we've had this meeting that lasted about four hours, discussing different possibilities
5:39 pm
for a response to an attack from iran, the different scenarios that may come about. we heard from the israeli prime minister, benjamin netanyahu, a couple of times yesterday, basically, that israel was ready for any kind of scenario. we believe that the us, according to reports, is approaching the different countries that were involved in that coalition that helped israel to thwart a direct attack from iran back in april — that included the uk, it included france and jordan as well, to see if they will be involved in repelling another attack, a similar attack, if that were to happen. but really, this remains an extremely difficult time — analysts warning that, you know, this is the moment of greatest peril in years in the middle east. weight—loss drugs have grown in popularity around the world. now, fearing a surge in fake medication, pharmacists are urging
5:40 pm
people not to buy the treatments online, despite a shortage that could continue into next year. the national pharmacy association is warning of a possible "explosion" in the unlicensed sale of medication. our correspondent frances read has more. i took on the shame that the world gave to me. candid about using drugs like ozempic, so many celebrities have now spoken of how they've used medication for weight loss. here ozempic is available on the nhs for people with type two diabetes as it helps to regulate their blood sugar levels, but its ability to suppress appetite has also led to its popularity. pharmacists say they're experiencing a shortage of the drug, fuelled by high demand. and that comes with huge risks. ozempic, which is a really important medicine for the treatment of type two diabetes, is out of stock and we think will be out of stock till the end of december this year. people who are desperate to continue that medication because it helps treat their diabetes, are looking to source medicines
5:41 pm
outside of the normal supply chain. this is causing people to look for medicines potentially online. and those medicines online are also at risk of being fake. and the problem with the fake medicine is that we've no idea what's in it. real ozempic is made by danish manufacturer novo nordisk, and the world health organization has previously had to issue warnings about fake stocks. the national pharmacy association is urging people to speak to their pharmacist or gp and not buy from online sellers or beauty salons, which aren't regulated. frances read, bbc news. now it's time for the latest from the olympics — let's go straight to my colleague maryam moshiri, who's in paris. thank you. lots of drama. good afternoon from paris. let's begin with one of the most remarkable stories of these games so far. that
