they are so free. i went with one of the police officers to the ground to collect a body, and he told me, julius, no, no, let them kill each other. my work here is to pick the bodies. the police are the weakest link in the whole of this process. in most of our police stations, some of them, they can't even tell you how many people have been killed. they can't. katana's fears are valid. we've been here two weeks and are invited to the funeral of another elderly gentleman, found hacked to death with a panga.

yet again, i am struck by the weight of the agony felt here. the nephew of the deceased gentleman says he knows exactly who is responsible. he wants to shout out the name and wants justice. is there really impunity for murder? i've been put in touch with a man who says he's been hired as a hitman in the past. i would never choose to meet someone who claims to be a murderer, who's responsible for such horrific suffering. but he is a crucial part of this jigsaw. what kind of person carries out such hideous attacks, and why?

katana's wife was amongst many questioned by the police but released with no charges. while tambala is surrounded by love, i'm left with nothing but sorrow. while tambala is surrounded by love, i'm left with nothing but sorrow here. i'm told that the mere fact that katana has survived means many believe he must be a witch, so his very existence puts him at a greater risk of attack. i fear he will never go home. before i leave, i want to know if there is any resolution to david's situation. his son chris has

agreed to talk to me. i'm a bit anxious about meeting chris. i don't know how he will take this, but also his dad cares for him and loves him and wants to have a relationship with him. so i'm hopeful that him knowing this will kind of soften it, but i'm still quite anxious. we have arranged to meet in a public place, not at his homestead. so thank you for taking the time.

relationship with his father. it's difficult. i have not seen evidence of threats or attacks in my time here, but i know david feels unsafe, and his family. but i know david feels unsafe. family love is something i hold so close to my heart. i can't seem to comprehend how things change, where you easily turn on your parents, siblings, people you've grown beside. you've shared a bed. you've shared a meal. you've shared a spoon. you share memories. you're connected. these are the people i believe you will do anything for, you will protect to the death.
