hello, welcome to turday*s verified live. divers searching the luxury yacht that sank off the coast of sicily have recovered the bodies of two of the six missing passengers. in the last hour, we've seen these pictures of body bags arriving at the port. rescue teams did not immediately give the names or the gender of the drowned people, who are the second and third victims of the shipwreck. this is the scene live — the italian authorities say there's little chance of finding any more survivors. coastguard vessels, divers and robots have been at the site, where the yacht is lying about 50 metres down. it's been challenging for the divers to get inside it. that recovery has been going on for
4:02 pm
hours and days now. this is day three. our correspondent bethany bell is in sicily — and gave this update from porticello where the rescue mission has been taking place. we are waiting to hear from the authorities as to the identities. we do not have any details at this present time as to who these bodies might be. but we have had this confirmation from the authorities. two bodies have been discovered. and what i could see through this telephoto lens was a figure that the divers seemed to be hoisting up into the boat. find divers seemed to be hoisting up into the boat. * * ., , ., ., ., ., the boat. and bethany, for a lot of the boat. and bethany, for a lot of the course — the boat. and bethany, for a lot of the course of _ the boat. and bethany, for a lot of the course of today, _ the boat. and bethany, for a lot of the course of today, the _ the boat. and bethany, for a lot of| the course of today, the authorities have been underlining just the huge challenges involved in actually trying to retrieve the bodies, trying to retrieve the bodies, trying to retrieve the bodies, trying to actually get to the inside of this wreckage.— of this wreckage. extremely difficult. what _ of this wreckage. extremely difficult. what we _ of this wreckage. extremely difficult. what we have - of this wreckage. extremely | difficult. what we have been of this wreckage. extremely - difficult. what we have been told is

that divers have a minute or so to get down to the sea bed, which is 50 metres below sea level and so 160 feet down. and then they can spend up feet down. and then they can spend up to 8—10 minutes down there before they need to return and come back up. they have also been hampered, they say, by the fact the yacht was on its side, it is difficult to access, and of course this is the third day now i've the rescue operations. so an extremely complicated task for them. and now it seems that the very sad news that two bodies have been discovered. we have been told that the rescue efforts will continue because there are of course for more people still unaccounted for. bud are of course for more people still unaccounted for.— are of course for more people still unaccounted for. and bethany, you talked about _ unaccounted for. and bethany, you talked about the _ unaccounted for. and bethany, you talked about the huge _ unaccounted for. and bethany, you talked about the huge complexity l unaccounted for. and bethany, you| talked about the huge complexity of what is actually going on. but they will be helped in part from some of the descriptions from some of the survivors, won't they?—

the doors might be shut in different ways, with something on its side. and then it will shut down behind you. the divers have got to be able to find their way in and of course find their way out, so they normally use a line so they can follow that line to find their way back out again. like your colleague said, they have got a very short amount of time to do what they need to do. i think that the fact they have got remoter vehicles in there now, that is going to be a great help. they can use those vehicles to locate certain areas and check cabins. and thenif certain areas and check cabins. and then if they find something, the divers can follow that in two where they need to go to get people out. and just in terms of what you can see, the difficulties about even moving around within a capsized

police already there. one neighbour we spoke to said she was aware that they must have been people inside because you could hear the shouting and screaming but there was nothing anybody could do. they could do was stand back and watch the emergency services do their work. as we know, a 29—year—old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and three children. a girl of nine, a boy of five, and another girl 22 months old he was just now been named, said five, and another girl 22 months old he wasjust now been named, said he died later in hospital. i can he wasjust now been named, said he died later in hospital.— died later in hospital. i can see behind you _ died later in hospital. i can see behind you that _ died later in hospital. i can see behind you that police - died later in hospital. i can see behind you that police tape - died later in hospital. i can see - behind you that police tape showing the extent of the cordoned. what is happening inside the court and now? well, the police are here for two reasons, to carry out their investigation into how the fire started. we do know that they think it is deliberate, and we do know
4:14 pm
that a 39—year—old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. but he, too, was injured badly in the fire and is currently in a critical condition in hospital. there is that part of the investigation. it is now a murder inquiry. but also they are here to talk to neighbours, to local neighbours for two reasons, to provide some reassurance to people that this does appear to be an isolated and domestic incident, but also, they are wanting people who may have seen her hurt anything, those with a cctv or door bell footage, to provide up to them so that the police can get a better sense of what went on here in the early hours of this morning. as is often the way, there is, people feel they need to mark their respects. flowers have already begun appearing.
