11:20 am
this tragedy and now the news coming in from italy is that rescue divers have found the last of the people missing, believed to be the daughter of mike lynch. i will bring you much more on that story as soon as we get it here on bbc news. let's bring you some other news now. the energy regulator ofgem has announced that its price cap will increase by 10% from the ist of october. it means an average household in england, scotland, and wales will pay an extra 149 pounds a year, although prices will still be lower than last winter. ofgem has said that rising prices in the international energy market because of heightened political tensions and extreme weather, was the main driver of the decision.
11:21 am
despite the higher energy price cap, the energy security secretary, ed miliband, has defended the government's decision to means test winter fuel payments. i know this will be really worrying news for lots of families who will face even greater struggles this winter, and it is a direct result of our country's exposure to international gas markets that are controlled by dictators, that is a legacy left to us by the last government. that is why this government has a plan to do something about it. our mission for clean, home—grown power that we control in this country, and it is why we have hit the ground running in just seven weeks, consenting new solar power, overturning the ban on offshore wind is precisely to give our country the energy security we do not have at the moment.

a number of news agencies are quoting the italian coastguard involved in the search for the final body missing as a result of the luxury yacht sinking off the coast of sicily earlier this week. after that freak storm on monday. the pa news agency and afp are saying that a body, believed to be that of hannah lynch, the 18—year—old daughter of mike lynch, the british tech entrepreneur, has been located. this was the sixth and final person missing after that yacht went down on monday. in total, 15 people survive with six bodies recovered and one no, it would be —— appear to be located. the fourth day of search
11:23 am
operations came to a close yesterday evening in the coastal town. this was day five of that search with divers deployed at the scene, trying to find, locate and eventually recover the last missing person confirmed to us by a family friend of the lynch family, that it was hannah that they were looking for. no formal identification of the bodies has yet been announced by the italian authorities. we have seen bodies being taken ashore. and that is the process that they then will be taken for formal identification. as we know an investigation is under way by the italian authorities. they have been speaking to the captain of the vessel who was reportedly questioned by authorities yesterday for a couple of hours. and then they investigated, were speaking to all
11:24 am
crew members. this trip was meant to be a celebration for the people on board. mike lynch had recently been acquitted of fraud charges in a very long—running case in the united states. and the bbc was told that the key people, his business and legal inner circle had been travelling on board that yacht, as a way of celebrating the fact that this long—running and costly legal case had come to an end. and we have been hearing just what sort of focus the investigators are going to be making, looking at what was done in response to those weather warnings which had meant that a number of smaller vessels had heeded and not left port that day, at that point on
11:25 am
the day because they were concerned about this freak storm that was coming in, that resulted in a water spout. they will also be looking at their water, spout. they will also be looking at theirwater, if spout. they will also be looking at their water, if there were any hatches inadvertently left open. some commentators think this was a freak accident and a desperate tragedy with people dying on board. but the investigation will have to be thorough and look at whether there was anything that was missed, anything that could have been done to prevent the vessel going down. let's just repeat, what we have a raking in the last few minutes, that the pan afp news agencies that believe that a body believed to be hannah lynch, the daughter of mike lynch, has been located as a result of that search off the coast of sicily.

hello. it has been a bit of a stormy day so far for some of you, but already conditions are improving and will continue to do so through the rest of today. in fact, it will be an afternoon of sunshine and some blustery showers as well, some of you seeing more of one than the other. the storm, storm lillian, which was with us this morning, is already out into the north sea and so on the back edge of it, isobars opening out, the winds easing down. although scotland compared to this morning where winds were light, it will be a little bit more blustery here. but here is where we see frequent showers, same too in northern ireland, england and wales. very few showers around, mainly in the west, central and eastern areas. quite a few of you will stay dry and in the sunshine out the breeze. temperatures of 22—23 it will actually feel quite pleasant compared to just 15 or 16 on the west coast of scotland. well the showers keep going through the night as it will for many. southeast dry for a time, but then this rain pushes up across southern england, south east midlands, east anglia and the south east to take us into tomorrow morning. some pretty warm air with it as well, 13 to 16 here as we start saturday. but the start of the weekend grey

temperatures start to creep up, and it's the start of next week in which some of you will feel some return. great news after the autumn feel today. temperatures could climb into the high 205, low 305 to the south and east, maybe mid 205 in north east scotland. take care.
