speaking this week who could repeat their mantra. joining me now is ben emons at newedge wealth. ben, good morning. >> good morning, frank. >> here on cnbc and in the u.s., a lot of hand wringing with the fed and when it cuts. it hasn't been a factor so should investors watch out for the pce report? >> they should. they will keep the message about this is the rate which may have to stay higher for longer. that is starting to come into the markets. we could get a little bit of pressure here. as you mentioned, the rates have been pushed out. the fed doesn't have to cut rates at this moment. >> strength is putting it lightly, ben. so much momentum in the markets that the economic data keeps coming in. we are seeing momentum trade with the s&p and nasdaq and dow right now.
5:06 am
as an investor, what could stop momentum? maybe it is pce. is something else coming up? are the rates pushed out further? does that slowdown the momentum? >> it could slow it down, but i think people will take a look at the valuations look accelerated. on the other hand, we did get some broadening of the rally in sectors. retail or health care is happening. it is about the economy strengthening. in a way, it keeps rates higher for longer. maybe take some of the momentum off the top at this moment. >> to your point, consumer staples is leading last week. so talk about momentum and we have to talk about nvidia. you gave us a great chart. according to you, the technicals are showing consolidation with the chipmaker. you think that is a good thing. consolidation is not a good thing usually with a stock. >> with the movement in the stock and it is overbought and
5:07 am
that consolidation shows the moderation. we have seeing a pause off the earnings and say if there is more to go, you have a better level to entry. >> we will talk about berkshire hathaway. i know newedge doesn't own berkshire hathaway. maybe a month or two ago, were you bullish on japan. you made big bets on japan. how much longer will you look to ride that trade? >> we are sticking with it for the time being it is not only berkshire hathaway in the banks, but the semiconductor industry is accelerating there. plus, the bank of japan has not pulled away any stimulus and the economy is doing okay. it is a good market. >> looking at the central bank of japan and here in the u.s. ben, thank you. time for the check of the top corporate stories with silvana henao. silvana. >> good morning, frank.

the trades paid out. that draws more investors into nvidia stock. that is what is happening right now. right now, a lot of people are betting it will continue because let's not forget about s3 partners and betting against it has been a losing trade. that sends short interest activity around those to the lowest levels on record. >> pedro, last question to you. the bots and nvidia is 20% of the holdings there and the a.i. q. all of the magnificent seven names capped at 3%. i want to ask about the latter. you believe a.i. has a long way to go and why cap any of those? why not put nvidia at 20% of all of the etfs? >> that is a great question, frank. when we think about a.i., it is just at the beginning of the a.i. cycle. there will be so many companies
5:37 am
that stand to benefit. actually we believe the hardware layer, like today with nvidia and themagnificent seven companies benefitting, is not the main vertical that it will benefit the most. we believe the interface companies that are going to allow consumers and businesses to experience the shift in technology are the companies to accrue the value on the equity front. the software service like adobe or service now. beyond nvidia on the hardware side, you have companies like qualcomm and broadcom. you will capture the full opportunity ahead with the cap on those magnificent seven companies that you described to allow investors to have a diversified basket and exposure to the companies. >> thank you for your time and insight. have a great day. coming up, uber set to

>> good morning, frank. >> what do you see in the pre market? the dow and s&p finished at highs last week. interestingly enough, the nasdaq hit a high and then closed lower. what do you makeo over in the pre-market? >> i think the second half of february is weak. you could see a pull back because everything has been hot recently. nothing could lose last week on the heels of nvidia. you have a few more earnings on the hardware side. you may see pc coming in hot. generally speaking, this rally is great. historically speaking, the back half of february is lighter. we could see a little bit of a pullback this week if we don't see the earnings numbers justify. some of the technology names reporting this week. >> we have big names after the magnificent seven. i want to look ahead to the day ahead and the environment where i'm in right now and give us your "wex" word of the day.
5:53 am
>> i had to make up a word to fit the market. i call it nivana. nirvana and nvidia combined. it has brought enlightenment to the market. this could continue even if we get rocky on the short-term. everybody should feel good about that one. >> this is the second time with short-term disruption, but the momentum trade is going to keep going. i want to ask aside from the short-term disruptions which is natural, is there anything to stop the momentum of nvidia? is pce the thing we need to watch out for here? >> i think pce will come in hot. we know it came in hot with ppi and cpi. it is not necessarily fully known. it is known that it should be hot this week. i think one data point is not bad. it is expected. the problem is will this be sticky? we can forgive pce being hot.
5:54 am
it will be okay. what happens if february is sticky and the market continues to re-price? the market has been driven more by earnings than fed expectations. saw the ten-year yield stable last week. we had the meeting minutes. you had activities that were not super dovish. if earnings come in, you could see that continue to counter balance as the fed backs off. we said we never expected march. we thought june or july was reasonable for cuts to begin. pce -- is this a blip or a trend? we can take one bad month, but two or three sticky months, people have to re-price. >> vicky, the pot hole in the road higher for the market for nvidia for a lot of things. something else i want to touch on. speaking of earnings, berkshire hathaway with the 52-week high. this stock, if you look at rsi,
5:55 am
it is overbought. is that something you are looking at in the market? nvidia overbought and berkshire hathaway is overbought. is that a concern for syou? >> it moved a little bit too far too fast. they have been overbought since january. this is not a new reading. when you have a fast upload market like this, it is likely to stay in overbought longer. i'm not necessarily too concerned. i think this means that some of the leading names are hitting territories and new highs or all-time highs on some of the stocks. you have to be careful. i like to trim in these areas. i might take a bit of earnings off. they moved up. you will talk about opening up 20% on the year today for berkshire hathaway, that's huge. >> i want to get to your pick. dell earnings are coming up this week. you are seeing a reacceleration in the pc market.
5:56 am
dow was down last week. the market was flat. valuation is 25 times forward earnings. give us the elevator pitch. >> i do think pc market is bottoming and they have good exposure to the data base side and enterprise side. not the hyper scaler side. i see i.t. spending getting better this year. it will be about the guidance like any other technology stock. the pc market has been slow. i expect that to continue to bottom out. i expect we see more i.t. spend and up beat guidance. i'm looking for more going forward. >> victoria, thank you. that does it for us. "squawk box" is coming up next. d a doctor i'll actually like? is that a qr code? dr. stafford makes you feel at ease. thanks rash! you've got more options than you know. book now.
