want and then to solve the problem before the general election. >> it is one of the worst, dumbest moves i have ever seen. i think it is totally dead in the house. >> we go back to the supreme court because they are siding with the former president and his fight to be on the ballot in colorado. >> the question you have to confront is why a single state should decide who gets to be president of the united states. >> and the special counsel dropped quite a bombshell. good news, bad news on joe biden 's classified documents case. the good news, no charges will be filed but the bad news, he was called an elderly well- meaning man with a poor memory. the other bad news when he

accidentally called the president of egypt the president of mexico. >> you know, initially the president of mexico did not want to open up the gate to allow humanitarian aid to get in. that brings us to the question of old age and one very angry president. >> i am well-meaning and an elderly man and i know what the i'm doing. >> forget the conversations about the novelty of that taking place. that was just the past five days. now, there are predictions about who will be on the ballot and who will win 269 days from today. i have done the math. now you do the math. imagine there is just one crisis per day over the next 269 days. that could be optimistic at this point. that is 269 by election day.

what could possibly go wrong and what could possibly go right? i want to bring michael singleton to the conversation. he was deputy chief of staff of housing and urban development under president trump and also a senior advisor for joe biden's 2020 campaign. glad to have both of you here. first of all -- >> that is a lot of math. >> that is a lot of math on a friday. the lawyer in me does not want to do the math thing. this is five days. this is five days in an election year. it's a problem. >> we are not even through the primary. this is the real housewives gunning for the white house. if this is going to continue to be the chatter among those of us that are in politics all day every day i feel like the time

we get to the summer a lot of voters will be paying attention to what is happening. as you mentioned, if this is what we are starting with the new year in the primary season we will continue to see this as we get to election day. i thought it was going to be a great week for democrats because republicans were giving us a lot of campaign material between what was happening in congress. cut all of those ads. unfortunately, the special investigation that came out around president biden really relieved him of any wrongdoing. he's cooperated with the doj in stark contrast to what president trump did not do. however, some of the comments people are picking up are not helping us as we are trying to get over this conversation about his age. it will be interesting to see how we continue to try to climb uphill on this battle to make sure we get over the line for the election. >> it is true that there are no

criminal charges. there will be comparisons drawn between him and trump. of course, trump has all of these legal troubles. the appeals court, not the supreme court talking about absolute immunity. the supreme court could take up that issue but they are leaning into the colorado issue and you can't help but look at the comparisons between the legal troubles of donald trump and those that and has escaped. the polling is still in the inverse. >> i think the biggest issue for the president is that people have not determined whether or not he can leave the country for another four years. he is 81. by the end of the second term he will be 86. i want to put that in perspective for the people watching this program. if you have somebody in your family that is almost 90, do you want that person running the country? >> hold on. 81, he's not going to be almost

90. >> he will be 86 by the end of the second turn -- term. >> and president trump is how old? >> he 77. the difference is -- i'm not talking about the veracity of his claims but you see this guy going in front of 10 to 15,000 people unscripted and he can continue and go on and on. president biden has not showcased the ability to do that. the white house rarely makes them available for in-depth interviews. he is rarely at large rallies talking to energizing democratic voters for an hour or two. so this sort of reaffirms what people were seeing which is, can the president do this for another four years? i am not certain that he can. then you have the special counsel saying that they are

not going to go after the president because he's an old, feeble man that may have some memory issues. this is nothing against the president. i respect him but i do think is it not fair to say, thank you for five decades of service. you have more years behind you than ahead. go to delaware and spend time with your family. >> the hard part about this whole argument is the fact that donald trump is quite up there as well. the reality is, the policies and positions that president biden has put forward a very popular with the american people. i know that there is a disconnect. we are trying to close that gap. but listen, yesterday i liked seeing president biden. he was fiery and out there and that's who people fell in love with. this is who our candidate is and we will get him over the line to reelection. i understand that the age question is a real question. however, he has done historical

things and will continue to do even more of those as he is reelected. >> i will say, and i want to put this in there because the lawyer in me is persnickety as they say. the special counsel report did mention how he might present sympathetically to the jury but it also talked about how the documents were retained and the cooperation. there were other factors in play there. just to clarify, don't go anywhere and do not fistfight. just hold on a second. the truth is we are 269 days away from election day. a lot can still happen. history tells that elections are full of upsets and surprises. harry is here. he's a reporter and he is so remarkable. tell me what i need to know because how accurate, harry, are the polls at this point?

>> i just want to say, tgif was such a big thing when i was growing up. i was such a big fan of steve urkel and step-by-step. >> i get the whole laura my sweet. >> anyway, winners who trailed at this point just to name a few. jimmy carter was down to gerald ford in 76. ronald reagan trailed jimmy carter in 1980. bill clinton was trailing at the polls at this point in 1992. i went back. pulling errors at this point average about -- i can't get it there. about 10 points. it is still very early and a lot can change. >> let's walk back to the tgif. tell me some of your favorite surprise wins you have seen? >> remember donald trump in 2016

? very few people gave him a shot. this was his chance after the convention was just 12%. the post access hollywood tape was 13%. even on election day it was 29%. he had a three intent shot of winning but he was able to go on and win the campaign despite a lot of people asking him to leave his campaign. not just independence and people in the press but republicans asking him to leave the campaign but he was able to go on despite the odds against him. how about harry truman in 1948. thomas dewey up by five points and harry truman won the popular vote and won easily. he held up the newspaper the chicago tribune saying that dewey had won the election. that whole deficit that biden faces at this point is

significantly smaller. there's a lot of things that can change him a lot of things that could change as we get closer to the election. >> what is one thing that might be able to change this election? >> we have spoken about it. this is biden versus trump. donald trump is up by two points. of course, he faces four criminal indictments. if he is convicted biden would lead by four points. this is something that is unprecedented. we've never seen a potential nominee under four criminal indictments. the fact is that trump leads right now but with 269 days to go there is a lot that can change. >> thank you so much. i'm going to go home and watch old episodes. we don't have a lot of time but let's bring back michael and lindsay. we have 269 days. >> i think we are going to have

a march, april, a surprise every week. voters do not really start paying attention until the summer, until the conventions. we have to get out of the primary. there is so much ground to be covered. i want democrats -- i want them to listen to me. be alarmed, be concerned, change your strategy but realize that we have a lot of time to turn this around. maybe that is the optimistic and me, but he has not even faced all of his trials yet. if he is convicted that will change the game dramatically. >> i think the best bet for the former president is to try to delay it as much as possible. even though president biden has seen his national numbers

increase and some polling shows that he has usurped trump, donald trump is standing in several crucial battle states at an increase. if he can win back those states it will send it back to the white house. >> we have about three weeks till we have to fund the government again. don't get too comfortable. i can't believe this is the week we have had. it is crazy. >> i will say, how do you turn around? you hope for electoral amnesia? or does biden need to be more proactive if? >> it is a both strategy. i've been very public that some of the strategy has to be different particularly with some of the issues democratic voters have said are the top issues. particularly for young and aggressive photos of the party.

we have the abortion issue on our side. we can't run a campaign like we did before. we have to have the ability to let go of the tried and true strategies for decades before and do something new. as long as the campaign is doing that and i believe they are open to it, we can turn this around. up next, a lot of usher. ♪ ♪ yes, that is usher. he's doing the super bowl halftime show. we will explain more in a moment.

>> we are not going to talk about that. >> you sound as if perhaps. >> but this is an opportunity for him to answer a lot of questions. people have wondered how good is this guy? does he just have a great team? we want to be friends after this. i think he has an opportunity. >> i think he is good enough to win a super bowl. >> this is a popcorn moment. i want to watch you do this. i will go nice and slow for this question. >> all of your usher references are amazing.

francisco an example of de i running amok? >> the kindergarten controversy is that a school in san francisco that is majority hispanic, to say two thirds of these kids are speaking spanish at home need to be taught the basics. english, math, et cetera. they decided to hire an organization to pay them a quarter million dollars called woke kindergarten. >> i thought that was the name that the guy that wrote the article gave it. it is their name. >> self-awareness is a wonderful thing. >> i guess you can't start them too young. >> rather predictably what happened is that the math and reading scores have been declining for several years and it has become yet another

example of precisely the opposite priorities that typical normal americans want. we want to send our kids to's school to learn the basics and not to be taught why math is racist, for instance. the final thing i will say -- >> what about six? >> that's a little bit suspicious. i think the basic problem with woke, one of the basic problems is that it views kids as inherently racist and that the racism needs to be hammered out of them in some way. the reality is that among all the problem kids have, for example being selfish and needed to share racism is not one of them. really, in the same way we want to protect a child's sexual innocence as long as possible we should want to preserve that

racially innocent mindset for as long as possible. >> okay. caitlin, as an educator what you think of dartmouth announcing they will bring back the s.a.t. as a requirement? all eight leaks got rid of the s.a.t. in the name of equity about three or four years ago. now dartmouth is saying, no. >> the reason for is absolutely true. all over the country people don't realize this. there are kids that did not have access to go or their parents moved a lot or family chaos. they will pop up with these great scores individually and these are the kids that the old idea you can test in two different schools. it was a tremendous benefit to kids who had every disadvantage along the way. the other thing is you don't want to admit this but it is

irrelevant for well-off kids, but the s.a.t. truly is the best single predictor of whether the kid can get through school. will they show up and say i can do the course work. maybe i'm not as wealthy or gifted in sports but i am moving through the curriculum. >> and you cannot lie on it. i read that 60% of college applicants admit that they lied on some part of their application. you can't lie on the s.a.t. >> unless you are felicity huffman. >> that was the act. >> all right. for everyone. is there any merit in tucker carlson's interview with vladimir putin? i had read that he went on for a half hour on the first question. just giving him a history lesson . >> it is reprehensible.

bringing everybody to the dinner table and fostering community. hot pot is one of my favorite ways to do that. it is a communal dining experience where you have a big pot of broth in the center of the table and a big array of vegetables and proteins and all of these beautiful things you can dip in the broth and you cook it together. >> it brings the family together and it is time everybody has their devices off and they are focused on sharing. as everybody is talking and reminiscing and engaging in that beautiful time, what are some chinese new year foods that bring luck? i want those. >> there are a lot. i would say dumplings certainly are one of them. it started as a tradition like money pouches. it does bring
