money. and they're still working behind the scenes to try to get together some kind of package if possible. but they're also trying to get the appeals court to say you can only put up a smaller amount or don't post anything until this whole appeal is over. but as of now, they've said they've tried to get someone on to underwrite a bond insurance company. they've approached 30 none of them will do it if it's back solely by property. and that is trump's biggest asset as far outweighs any of the cash or stock that he has right now. he could also try to take out a mortgage on some of these properties. but one issue may be that the whole allegation in this case is that the inflated value of these properties and it's tough to do that pretty quickly to get someone to appraise the property or come up with a value that they're comfortable with. and also a number of big banks stopped doing business with trump years ago because of his history of being litigious and just not a good client. so those are some options he could also sell something very quickly. that seems highly unlikely. i think as now they're really banking on the appeals court to come up with a

delay or give them some more time. the new york attorney general said that they're looking to move forward and they are prepared to move forward as soon as monday, either way, i think we're going to continue to see litigation on this space if she tries to seize a problem whether it's trump tower or another one, i don't think trump is going to take that lightly and i think we're going to continue see a lot of litigation. >> i mean, this is this was like the end of a chapter. it's now just to be very beginning of another really could be like a very messy chapter here, kara, thank you so much for the update. kara scannell. let's get some more on this. for manhattan prosecutor jeremy saland is here with me. okay. so what do you think of the options that cares laying out here? >> i think he's in a real bind and that monday bind of his of his own design will no doubt, of course. and he can't just turn around and sell property even if you had a buyer. what are we forgetting here? there's something called long-term capital gains so there's a tax consequence to him is going to declare bankruptcy to those particular companies. well, that's certainly not a good look right. leading up to an election for the man who's, who's really the king of

business. so he's really find themselves in a difficult place. what attorney james does is yet to be seen, but she could then to give him more time if she's so kind to do so. there's a lot of options here for the attorney general >> i you're not in your not the ag's office. you're not letitia james mind, but what do you think? his likely to happen monday if he if he doesn't get this figured out. >> well, i think at a minimum you would think she'd put a lien on the property because it's not so easy to just see someone's assets if you don't want to do that like this, right? you don't just three if someone's account with a snap of a finger there's the process and that process can be challenged as well, even though she has a right to proceed. so i think the easiest way for lack of better term, which is not necessarily easy it is a lean, but more so than what she's going to do. it's really what is he going to do? it he doesn't have the dollar to put up. he doesn't have chubb to come rescue him like he did with jean carroll, what do you think of the bankruptcy option? i mean, do you think as time progresses, even if i don't even have an extension was given, does bankruptcy that longer this is a problem for

president about it not being constitutional, if you will. is that a potential argument that could be made to help the former president lower that amount? certainly think it is >> another thing you're hearing bakari is at some republicans and trump allies say, you know what if the new york attorney general's office tries to maybe sees trump properties because one thing that could happen in theory, if trump doesn't come up with this monday money by monday, is that they would have the right to go after some trump assets. but there are trump allies saying that would be a bad look politically for new york attorney general. letitia james why? >> no, i don't think it will be a bad look at all. i think i'm thinking about the great american poet curtis jackson, also known as $0.50 who always posting says that he needs his money by monday and look if the money's not there by month, by monday, then she has every right to seize his assets i mean, sure. mike was right. he doesn't have any options most americans know that donald

clearly showcase that the former president is leading with spanish-speaking voters, individuals within the hispanic community, within the hispanic diaspora. and i think it is smart to potentially pick someone, marco rubio's family, there are cuban americans. he's bi-lingual individually, can really speak to that particular community better than anyone else could. you're seeing that six point i advantage? thank god, the former president has over joe biden. you just saw a biden recently, i believe in nevada talking to i span individual said i need you. i can't do this without you and that is true. the problem is they just aren't buying that message is if you're looking at the overall calculation and you're looking at particular groups that the former president wants to target to ultimately mobilize so some of those very crucial and critical, a battleground states such as arizona and nevada. i am looking for someone who could potentially target increase that mobilization for those voters. and i think marco rubio is such a candidate what does it say that someone who, who felt the way that marco rubio did in 2016 about donald trump's hands would then consider being his running mate

working to lock down an agreement tied to the release of hostages held by hamas in gaza. cnn's kylie atwood is with us now, kylie, what are you hearing >> well, listen just as you said, john, we heard from the secretary is date yesterday saying that these efforts are getting closer. those efforts to secure both an immediate ceasefire and of course to secure the release of those hostages held by hamas, that's what the secretary said when he was in saudi arabia. and one of the things he also said is that the gaps are narrowing, but we should take this all with a grain of salt. we have heard positive language about where this is all heading before and it hasn't always resulted in breakthroughs. he also wasn't specific in terms of how the gaps are actually narrowing. so we'll try and talk to sources to figure where this is all headed over the course of the next few days. but as you said, the secretaries in egypt today, he's going to meet meeting with a number of arab leaders to talk about what it looks like for gaza the day after there is some i'm sort of ceasefire here, how they can govern gaza, how they can

secure gaza. and then tomorrow he's heading to israel. of course, he has been israel so many times throughout this conflict. and one of the things that we will be watching for him to discuss with his israeli counterpart is the israelis desire to go ahead with the ground operation in gaza? in rafah, specifically that southern portion of gaza us officials had been very clear in saying that they do not think a ground operation would be productive here they are very concerned about how that could be pulled off, given that there are 1.5 million civilians there, they just think that it would be too harmful for those civilians. so that will be discussed by the second pretoria state on friday. but then we also have an israeli delegation coming here to washington next week to discuss the matter while israel and the us are on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of how a rough operation could be accomplished. >> all right. kylie atwood. thank you very much for that report and keep us posted. >> also new this morning, life expectancy in the united states is beginning to rebound if on

the rise, new data from the cdc shows life expectancy rose about a year to 77.5 years old in 2022. but there's a bit of a catch that is still lower than it's been and in about 20 years, the covid pandemic major contributing factor to the decline. and arguably most alarming the cdc has found that child deaths increased last year as did deadly drug overdoses we also have this, a new study projects that fertility rates around the world will continue to plummet this as experts say more and more people are kind of shifting their focus, shifting toward having smaller families. cnn's meg tirrell has much more on this talk about this study. what do these projections show? >> this is a really interesting study. it goes out essentially until 21000. wow >> and it says were facing what they call a low fertility future. this is from a modeling group called ihme at the university of washington. it was published in the lancet last night. >> they >> talk about a replacement level of essentially two children per person who's

having the babies. so you need to have that many in order to have your population he sustained are slightly more than two. you can see what the global fertility rate has been going back to 1950. it was more than four globally children per and quite mother, 3.6 and 1980 down to just above 2.2 and 2021. now that's projected to go underneath that sort of replacement rate by 2050 and then out to 2,100 by that 0.97% of countries and territories across the world are projected to have under a two replacement rate, essentially so if you want the replacement rate, right? if that's if that's the goal, what do governments and societies do about it? >> so what we're seeing in these numbers isn't it? imbalance in where the fertility rate is high and where it's low. >> so the >> proportion, the expectation is that lower-income countries are going to account for a higher proportion of births out toward 2,100. so they estimate that 1.2 children born in 2,100 is it's going to be in sub-saharan africa. and so what they say is that there's areas
