4:02 am
>> today hey, is the day friends happy monday, and it happy eclipse mania de its officially reached a fever pitch. millions of people are waking up to check the forecast into make sure their glasses are ready for this total solar eclipse moment sun making its way across mexico, the united states, and canada more than 32 million people in the united states will be in the path of totality we would stretches from texas up through the northeast along the path, the moon will appear to completely cover the sun for about three-and-a-half to four minutes for people not perfectly positioned for today's event, you should still be able to get a show of some sort, 99% of americans will be able to see at least a partial eclipse today. and this is definitely one of those must see, do not forget mark the calendar, set a timer, or take a moment to enjoy types of
4:03 am
events, because after today, it will be another 20 years before a total eclipse will be visible from the united states. so from the forecast to the watch parties, there's a whole lot to watch even in the lead to this afternoon cnn's rosa flores is in the totality zone in texas for us, rosa t minus what, seven hours now to show time that's right. >> kate and i think curve l as so ready for this, but i don't know that i am, i'm a little of things about what the real glasses look like. so i'm hoping that you can help me because these are kinda cool. but like i could see better with these and this is where we have our public service announcement trends. if you're going to watch the eclipse, make sure that the real glasses like if your finger can go through the glasses, that will let you know that those are not the ones that you want to use, so that you can protect your eyes these are the ones that you want. make sure they fit. the international standards.
4:04 am
>> and these >> can give you a third eye of wisdom. you can see right here in the center, it says, it clips times two. >> well, that's >> because carville will have to eclipses in a matter of six months. we have the map from nasa. take a look because this is really fascinating x mark the spot. there was an annular eclipse back in october and you see the path of totality there. there's another eclipse today and you see the path of totality. and in the center, that's worked is now i talked to the mayor of this city about this. she was very excited. she's welcoming people from all over the world. she has already declared a disaster in the town, not because you think it will be a disaster even though they do say that this town has been getting calls about, well, is this going to be the apocalypse? is this the end of the point of no return, no friends, nothing like that. they are going to have counter-flow according to the mayor wants totality is over to make sure that everyone can get
4:05 am
out of town safely and the mayor also told me that she tapped into the supernatural to make sure that these 100,000 people that are expected to be here, we'll get a good show. take a listen concerns, of course, is the weather, >> weather, but i'm be clear. when nauta not re i checked my magic ball morning it says no rain. and we're going to be able to see it so what else does that magic ball >> i'll have to look >> harder itself. >> the lottebers because if oh, no, i want those two. that's the secret, is that i can i can share now. okay. i borrowed that crystal ball from her and i can see good weather people cheering people, having
4:06 am
a good time and kate, i think i see the lottery numbers, but i don't think i'm going to share those ways to myself. >> wait, wait, wait a second. >> now this is actually serious >> because i was not an oregon and did not win powerball. so we need to discuss thank you so much. i cannot wait to see what props come up next she's got an entire suitcase of them raising roses, got view from texas for us. all day long. >> she understood the assignment. exactly. she had props, she had everything going for her. >> when you've got t minus seven hours to show i'm you, just bring out the process >> she was on a stage and we were i'll adjust the audience drawing the whole thing. speaking of which it's people are staking out their spots like rosa to see the eclipse millions are hoping. >> and >> even using crystal balls to try to be in the way the clear sky, so that they can see everything perfectly. most of you will get one including one
4:07 am
guy who traveled to mexico just for this eclipse. listen mazatlan is one of our favorite places in the world and we wanted to come here to see the eclipse and the town is full of people. it's absolutely packed with tourists here for the eclipse. and it's so wonderful and it came to this. i had to think at all out laid on the calendar and i'm ready. i'm ready to go all a all i need is clear, scott, such as surreal experience, you can't even explain what it's like to be in a totally collapse you think you're going to know then you're like, oh, i wasn't expecting that >> i love how excited people are. so who is on deck for the best viewing cnn's allison chinchar has the forecast. i think that a lot of people are going to be print deep, pretty darn happy with yes, there are going to be plenty of spots that is gordon going to have pretty good viewing today? some of those include keeps jurado, missouri. we've got egg
4:08 am
evansville, indiana, carbondale, illinois, and then another good spot farther off to the north basically from burlington, vermont, all the way up through caribou main, going to see some fantastically clear skies hi, there are going to be some troublespots, namely much of the area in texas and portions of arkansas on the reason for that is, we have the potential for some strong to severe thunderstorms later on today. now the good news is the bulk of those storms will actually be after the eclipse, but we all know a lot of those clouds are going to start building ahead of time. and it's how quickly can those clouds increase during the eclipse time that's going to be a concern, but also after is everyone is leaving the event is over. maybe they're heading back home. they may end up encountering some of these strong to severe thunderstorms that will include large hail damaging winds and the potential for some strong thunderstorms, especially through the evening hours. so let's say you're traveling to three, even four hours away. you may encounter some of those, but again, we also have some really good spots to take. for example, indianapolis, a lot of those clouds are going to be decreasing through the day. so even if you wake up this morning and you look
4:09 am
outside and you see those clouds don't worry, we are going to start to see a lot of those fadeaway during the day today. another good spot, as we mentioned, burlington, vermont still looking at plenty of sunshine guys to be able to see that optimal viewing later on today. >> allison, do not think that i have not noticed the earrings and the shirt those are eclipse areas. i mean, where did you find that? >> i get to wear these every so many years i had to take advantage of it uk prepare to i totally appreciate it. >> allison chinchar. thank you so much, john. >> all right. we do have breaking news. donald trump, just posted a message on social media on his policy on abortion. we're going through that statement. we will tell you what it says shortly an engine cover rips off an airplane during take-off, the whole thing caught on video. and what is being called significant progress in hostage talks. could it lead to a ceasefire in gaza

4:14 am
you sing about “price lock” on those commercials. “the price lock, the price lock...” so, if you could change the price, change the name! it's not a lock, i know a lock. so how can we undo the damage? we could all unsubscribe and switch to xfinity. their connection is unreal. and we could all un-experience this whole session. okay, that's uncalled for. limited time i've been touring the world with my music and now i want to focus on what's happening to our planet >> carbon, a cnn film sunday, april 21 at nine >> cnn breaking news. >> all right. the breaking news donald trump has just released a video message on h picy on a overnight. heies that he woul releang a statement that statement is now out at question has been would donald trump come out with a definitive position on where he stands on a federal national
4:15 am
ban on abortion over the las several months, he has talked about possibly a 15 week ban. beenoing through i cnn's 've alayna treenis with us now, does see, in fact, take a definitive stand. ala he does not what he says is that this should be left to the states anyou also takes credir overrning roe versusade. while again, it's stl seemg a bit vague about where he ands and look, this is something that donald trump has done for the entire time on the campaign trail thus far, despite many people i'm an outside groups anti-abortion allies, pressuring him to clarify his position on abortion. he is avoided doing so because he believes that the issue is a political loser, especially for republicans in a general election year. and that's kind of where this video leaves us. it doesn't give many answers into exactly what, how many weeks because we've heard donald trump repeatedly say or float, i should say, of 15 week are 16 week abortion ban. this says
4:16 am
that it's up to the states. and again, he does take credit for stacking the supreme court with three conservative justices in overturning roe versus wade, but also doesn't go as far as many people on the right. and in the conservative movement wanted him to do. and so that's kind of where this statement leaves us this morning. of course, we're still going through it, but i think again, donald trump isn't leaning very hard into a national abortion ban. he is saying, look, this is a state's issue and it's also the statement we saw his team release last week and news of the florida law, the six-week abortion menn being slated to take peck effect in a couple of weeks now, they had said, look, donald trump believes in preserving life. again, another vague statement from the campaign, but also insisted that he believes that should be a state's decision and that's kind of where donald trump in the statement leaves us on the issue today >> donald trump is a resident of the state of florida on the ballot in florida this november will be a six week ban on abortion. does this statement
4:17 am
or does the campaign give any indication where he comes down on that issue? >> so far they haven't. and i think that's again because they recognize the politics of this issue. they really do not want to be waiting too deeply into this fight despite knowing that democrats, this is one of their main issues and one of republicans biggest vulnerabilities for the election. i have asked the campaign how would donald trump vote on this as a florida resident, he will have the right to vote on the constitutional amendment when it comes up in november they have refused so far to say what he will do instead, they really are trying to say that this is about the states decision that for many years conservatives, people of the pro-life movement have wanted abortion to be the states that he overturned roe versus wade. and so that's where it should continue to be. but again, i don't think this is going to leave many of those people happy, particularly those who voted on this issue and helped him in 20 he 16 get
4:18 am
into the white house because of this issue. i think it will leave a lot of his allies on that front not totally fulfilled by what he is saying today. >> so he came out with a statement he promised, but what he promised is still fairly vague this morning, alayna treene. thank you very much for that update. >> okay >> so scary moments aboard a southwest airlines flight, passengers capturing the moments and air and engine cover of your to peel off during takeoff it is a duck. >> the >> dawn of a new sports dynasties, south carolina's women's basketball team, bringing home their third national championship, beating iowa and beating rockstar our caitlin clark. and a game yesterday, south carolina's head coach dawn staley, will be our guest this >> is the big dam. >> it's great to be >> the music, the magic of madness. >> it's time to take what do you need while you can

>> the leaf with jake tapper today at four and cnn all right. >> developing this morning, would egyptian state media calls significant progress in talks on a ceasefire and hostage deal in gaza. also, these brilliant military says withdrew ground forces from the city of khan yunis, but said there are still far from halting ground operations in gaza. cnn's nic robertson is in jerusalem this morning. nick, what is the latest your hearing >> yeah. the idf is saying that this pullback of the in division from khan yunis, pulling out this huge number of troops of biggest division, actually that's been operating inside of gaza. they've been fighting in janiot for four months but represents an end of ground operations in gaza in that current phase. what we're hearing from idf commanders though, is that there's a possible bility the troops
4:24 am
could go back in to refer or potentially they could be deployed for other operations elsewhere the idf is saying they're maintaining a strong wrong force in they north of gaza. the 160 division there in the north around around the major cities like gaza city. so this is far from a full withdrawal, far from an end of military operations. in fact, the warning there could be more to come. however potentially in the context of the talks that are underway or have happened overnight in cairo. this could put something different on the table that may shift for dynamic and lead to a deal over the hostage release please and the contexts and the contours of what a ceasefire might look like. it may change, or it could go towards another break down and talk to an indication, then potentially this could lead to a ground operation in rafah. and we're certainly hearing from members of the prime minister's hard-right
4:25 am
cabinet saying that if the prime minister is not going to go into rather and finish the job on hamas than perhaps they need to learn at it. then he's not representing the will of the people. so that's a threat to the prime minister, but this is one that at the moment he can certainly appear to withstand a lot going on there. nick keep us posted as to what you hear. thank you very much, sir. all right. there was also the threat from iran, senate majority leader chuck schumer says, the us has ready to quote respond swiftly if necessary, against any attacks by iran. us officials are preparing for a significant attack that they believe is inevitable. iran has said they are going to retaliate after last week, strike that. killed top iranian commanders in syria. potential targets could be israeli or us assets in the region. cnn's priscilla alvarez is at the white house. we know that there is reporting the white house made clear to iran that it was not us involved, but israel is being blamed for this hit on
4:26 am
the complex. can you tell me going further what the us is hearing, what they're worried about at this point well, the us and israeli governments are on high alert for us officials have described as a quote, inevitable attack, this potential >> attack by iran sparked bind that is really airstrike that you were just talking about that killed top iranian commanders. now, as you mentioned, around vowed to take revenge in the made clear they were not involved in this israeli airstrike, nor do they know about it ahead of time. instead, issuing a warning to iran that they should not use this as a pretext to go after us personnel or facilities. now, it's unclear when this would happen or how it would happen. officials anticipated could be as soon as this week again targeting us or israeli assets in the region. but what's senate majority leader? chuck schumer made clear over the weekend is that the us is prepared to respond swiftly, if necessary >> i know the president and his team are working hard to
4:27 am
prevent escalation. and our there to defend any attack and response with leave if necessary? >> now this of course, was a major topic of discussion between president biden and israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu last week, the two governments staying in close touch over the weekend. of course, the worst-case scenario here would be a direct strike buyer ran on israel, which could spark a broader regional conflict. of course, there that is something that the white house has tried to avoid >> priscilla alvarez. thank you so much for all that reporting this morning. okay >> and some good stuff to get your day going today. a girl scout troop in tennessee using cookie sales to help reignite lost pets with their owners using the money that they earn from their cookie sales to purchase and install microchips, scanners at their local library selling cookies is of course really fun, but it feels great knowing that we helped a lot of lost animal. i just i think it's really fine

in just a few hours, nearly everyone in america will have the chance to see at least part of today's solar eclipse, 32 million people in the united states live along the path of totality. whereas we have all learned where the sun will be blocked entirely by the moon for a period of time. so this is clearly a rare event. the next total solar laura visible in the united states won't happen for another 20 years. and our next guest is not only seen a solar eclipse, but seen one from space. nonetheless, do right now is kernel terry verts, a former nasa astronaut who spent over seven months in space during his two spaceflights, his last his last trip lasted more than 200 days. it's good to see you, colonel. thank you so much for jumping on. >> let's start. what was the experience like witnessing the clips in 2015 from the international space station? >> well, it was amazing. it was something we weren't sure we'd be able to see the station doesn't have good windows on the top. there's some small hatches and most of them are blocked. so we could look out and you can see the moon taking
4:34 am
a bite out of the sun. but it was, it was not a great view. but when we flew over the north atlantic, that's where the moon's shadow was. and it was excuse me, it was off in the distance and it was amazing there was this big giant black hole down on earth. so i'm glad they told us that there was an eclipse or it would have been really disconcerting to look down at earth and seeing this big black thing moving across the surface. but it was pretty cool. >> i mean, putting that kind of in the category of you always have a good view but when you're on the internet, when you're up looking at earth, but, but on this one is a little different. how is your experience this time going to be different from that as you're planning to see it? >> i had a chance to see the 2017 eclipse and it was spectacular. i say a partial eclipse on a scale from one to ten is like a seven but seeing that total eclipse was like 1 million. i mean, it was really a spectacular experience. day times turns into night. it's so surreal to look up and see the sun being eaten in by the moon. and then, and it's a
4:35 am
really, really beautiful thing. i hope we have good weather. i'm here in fort worth, texas and it's iffy at best, so we'll see i've seen some reporting though they'd like clouds partying right at the last moment as the eclipse sets in. so you never know, hope springs eternal, i guess. >> i'm turns go ahead >> that's what we're counting on >> in terms of celestial events. you've experienced and seen clearly more than most humans with the amount of time you spend in space. how does any clips rank in terms of those amazing of all the amazing things you've seen in space so looking out of the galaxy is incredible there's a lot of stars up there that's something that really stood out to me, getting to see all the planets from mercury to saturn, from space is pretty cool. but the eclipse, i honestly the best thing that i've seen in the sky, i in my life has been a total eclipse it's from the
4:36 am
northern lights are pretty cool too, and the southern lights, so the aurora are pretty spectacular, but the eclipse is definitely up there. it's definitely on the mount rushmore of most spectacular things you can see >> for sure for sure. >> i've been reading some and not understanding a lot. i will have to admit about some of the experience experiments that nadh john is laughing at me off camera some of the experiments that nasa is often conducts during eclipses and is planning to do to learn more from the solar flux, what can be learned from events like this? >> well, a lot, especially back in the a hundreds of years ago where we really didn't know anything about the sun. and eclipse is the only time that you can actually see the sun's outer atmosphere. they did an experiment about einstein's theory of relativity and they could see stars being bent by the sun's gravity. and that was about 100 years ago we're going to send some rockets up into the upper ionise here we have a really super thin atmosphere that goes up hundreds of miles. that's why
4:37 am
you can see those are warum. when the particles interact hundreds of miles above the surface nasa has an airplane called a wb-57 and it has as several cameras infrared camera, optical camera some radio experiments. and you see, you see things and you can observe things that you just can't see when the sun is out and when the moon blocks it it just helps researchers understand that upper part of the atmosphere is very important for satellite communication. we're life down here on earth. when the sun's very active, sometimes that damages are electric grid. so it's a way for scientists to just increase their understanding. and it doesn't happen that often. so it'll be it'll be exciting for scientists. >> absolutely exciting for so many people. it's great to meet your kernel. thanks for coming in thanks for having me on. >> of >> course, john on a scale from one to ten, it's a >> million >> all right. this morning, actor jonathan majors will be sentenced for assault and harassment. that conviction stands from domestic dispute between majors and an ex-girlfriend. >> the former

exciting and of course there was so much into the patient for this game. it was a sold-out crowd, a lot of people there to, of course, as he number 22 on iowa's caitlin clark didn't have a shabby finish to her senior year, 20 or 30 points rather for number 22. >> and listen >> when she hit those big shots, this place behind me erupted and when the game was sort of solidified, that south carolina was going to win. she came out to a standing ovation. i want you to hear from caitlin clark i'm sad we lost this game, but i'm also so proud of myself. i'm so proud of my teammates. i'm so proud of this program there's a lot to be proud of, but you know, there's going to be tears. it is sad that this is all over and this is last time i'm going to put on an iowa jersey now, listen, dawn staley herself. >> thank bank you to >> caitlin clark calling her the one of the greatest of all time in sport for lifting up this board. there were so many young girls and boys in this arena wearing number 22

jerseys. and actually that is the last time that caitlin clark will be putting on that jersey as she is headed to the wnba draft, expected to be the number one pick. but you know what >> feral aza >> basketball fan myself, dawn staley, let's hand it to her. listen. she it's a little finding herself in the record books becoming the first black division one coach to go undefeated in a season. i mean, what a career so far as the head coach, there karelina, congratulations to those gamecocks, her winning in what was unbelievable division one women's basketball season this year. >> and brynn keep your earpiece and because we're gonna be hearing in just a few seconds from coach stanley thank you so much. and thank you for all the excitement that you were brought as daily. all right. >> the woman who led south carolina's >> their victory, head coach, dawn staley staley is now joining us and she joins and elite club of coaches after clinching last night's when she is now only the fifth coach to win three titles and the

fifth coach to be unbeaten in a season, gamecocks head coach dawn staley, joining me now. thank you so much for taking the time. i know you have to be tired. i know you were celebrating. i want to start with how the game began. it began with iowa coming out strong. they were in the lead and you could see your emotions we're not holding them back. what were you thinking in that beginning of the game and those beginning moments >> well, in the beginning, i was just thinking, i didn't even get up. i think i sat in my seat just allowing with things to play out. >> when you >> when you're playing at the biggest stage dover of the season, the national championship game especially against it, i will team in which we knew they were transition team who their bigs we're gonna get up and down the floor i think our players met that moment that i didn't
4:43 am
really take off though we prep them for it and i just let him play through it. i just said they're going to play through. they got to get a feel for the speed of the game and what what they do well. and once things settle down, i do think we could get back into this game it's going to be hard and challenging of feet, but i thought about ball our debt. we paid. dividends for us and the separator in this particular gate. >> and boy did it. we are looking at the moment when the championship was one you broke down when they presented you with the trophy how was this when different than the other two national championships that you have led south carolina to win? >> number 20 minutes is different because because it was so unexpected. yes, we have a team of talented players >> but >> as our season ended last
4:44 am
year in the semifinals you're not promised. and when a national championship or you certainly my promise when you're not bringing back any of your starters, it was a long, hard road to get our team to where they are today. but throughout the season, this team just organically fell in love with each other. and they did not want to let each other down. and it's not often that you see young people connect in this way and actually really not lose a game and b as free playing as as loose. >> i mean, this team has been >> loosened throughout the entire season. none none more loose. loose than what they were right before this before this game. and i thought they were they were to lose, but i didn't say anything. this team has a way of dealing with the pressure of a plan on the biggest stage in a chooses they who said i don't mind that
4:45 am
>> coach. it wasn't just that they loved each other. they talked a lot about us. some of them saying, look, you were like a mom to them. they come to you with all sorts of their issues. so your leadership certainly played a role throughout the tournament you talked about this grind of just win after win after win, but most folks, we're talking about iowa, caitlin clark to a lesser extent, lsu and angel reese got a lot of the attention. most of the attention in the room while your team was racking up these wins, why do you think that as and did it did it bother you all? >> no. i mean, it really doesn't bother us. i think it's par for the course when it comes to south carolina. but there are household names kaitlan, an angel, are all worthy of their space and our sport, they are bringing more eyeballs to our sport they're bringing more viewership to our sport. >> and they >> have a great personalities they are talented players on a basketball court. and sometimes
4:46 am
you, there's a reason for all seasons, four for players and coaches and teams i think how the season ended is very much in tune with how i wanted it to end and although we haven't been the most talked about team in this and this and this whole women's basketball year what we talked about a lot in the all season. and i much rather have it that way. after having one another national championship it's a beautiful, either the wind makes you the first black coach in college basketball history. you are a first to have three national championships and an undefeated season. what does that feel like? what is perfection? feel like? dawn staley i mean, prevents it feels great. i've never really paid attention to
4:47 am
be undefeated because it really didn't feel like that every day. we would go into practice and, you know, we we didn't play we didn't practice perfectly every every game that we wanted to mean did not execute perfectly. so all the things that we didn't execute other things that were right there in front of us and they felt like losses. i don't know why, but every every close game, every time that we had you know, so imperfections to look at and correct. it felt like we took a loss because we learn incredible lessons through every single game that we played that you took the pressure off of being undefeated it put it on the process and we do that you don't feel as pressured because that you've you've gone over mistakes from back in 1991
4:48 am
back when you were playing. so you are obviously a perfectionist as well, coach daily congratulations to you and the gang pops in their whole team for winning national championships. i know you're feeling good this morning. okay >> good. she's feeling tired and that's a good coach. i'm basically saying there is always room for improvement. and even when we are perfect fact that's a good coach coming up for us after months of mixed signals and avoiding taking a position altogether, donald trump just issued a statement on his stance on abortion. he wants so leave it to the states. so where does that leave him with republican voters >> fanned ammonium is brought to you you by xfinity stream sports from the best seat in the house with xfinity because it's only live once >> not all caitlin clark's are the same caitlin clark city planner >> just like not all internet providers are the same built settle

>> kane, who that do so the faa is now investigating after a scary moments on a southwest airlines flight. this video, we're showing you right here is posted on social media by one of the passenger's showing damage to the wing of the plane. the flight was leaving denver had to make an emergency landing after what appears to be an engine cover peeling off during takeoff. cnn's gabe cohen has more on this gathering some more information. what is southwest saying gave about what they believe happened here >> well, so keep that is under investigation, but southwest says maintenance crews are looking at this plane. the airline saying in a statement, we apologize for the inconvenience of their delay speaking about the passengers who had that emergency landing. but place our highest priority on ultimate safety for our customers and employees. and you can imagine what those customers and employees who were on board the plane we're thinking as this terrifying scene was playing out early
4:54 am
sunday morning, has that plane took off from denver you can actually see in the the video that you just showed passengers were watching as that that kaling that engine cover actually ripped off the aircraft and struck the wing flap of the plane. and yet that aircrafts still took off and it was in the air for close to 35 minutes before returning to denver for an emergency landing. we do have some air traffic control audio of the conversation between the pilot and folks on the ground. take a listen to this >> let's go ahead and declare an emergency for southwest 36, 95. and we'd like but immediate return. we got a piece of engine calving hanging off, apparently it's the right side of the mouth. 100% sure. with the engine. i think the flap probably inboard side of the engine between the engine in fuselage ripped off on takeoff 95. copy that thank you.

>> didn't seem to be let though we are actually damaged >> so we know the faa has now launched an investigation into this incident, and i want to be clear, kate, this is a boeing plane, but this is not the max nine model that had issues and has been under scrutiny for months. now, you'll recall that incident back in june january when the door plug blew off an alaska airlines flight and lead the faa to temporarily ground the max-9 and order boeing to address what they called systemic quality control issues. but this is not the max-9. this is a 737800. it is a plane that has been in use a lot longer than the max-9. in this case, about nine years. and we don't know yet if this was a boeing problem, kate, or perhaps a southwest maintenance issue that is something the faa is still working out as they investigate the incident. >> yeah, definitely one of many questions of how this how this happened, but thankfully, everyone okay. despite the scary video, it's going to thank you so much, john. all right. breaking this morning just a short time ago, donald

trump posted a video on his stance on abortion after reportedly privately saying he supported a federal 15 or 16 week ban. he did not take a stance this morning on a federal ban. instead, he said it would be he shed it shouldn't to be left up to the states he said he did personally support some exceptions with us. now, congress and edr no s biota democrat from new york congressman, thank you so much for being with us. so no stance on a federal ban says it should be left up to the states what does that tell you >> where he's ducky in a very important issue that i obviously, the american public is very concerned about. women deserve to have reproductive rights. and it politically it pauls extremely well for democrats the elections can ride on this issue and he's document, do you think that he is occupying some kind of middle ground here? >> he hasn't ce so but he should be very specific about
4:57 am
what his stances he shouldn't ductus issue. this is an important one for the american public. women deserve to have the right to reproductive the bright side. and i don't think it should be left to the states. congressmen over the weekend. donald trump l, a huge fundraiser where he, they claimed he raised over $50 we had don't see the official reports for some time, but inside the fundraiser, the new york times reports that he made some comments about immigration. he said, quote why can't we allow people to come in from nice countries? like denmark and switzerland? >> he's this, he said this before. he said this in his first election cycle, he started out his political career, if you may talking about mexicans and calling them rapists criminals. and so we know what his rhetoric is. it's a rhetoric that tries to weaponize immigration that's why the republican party
4:58 am
doesn't want to take up comprehensive immigration reform. that's why they don't even want to do work permits. a simple thing like work permits, which will really help the academy and help the nation. they don't want to take that up. >> what do you think it is in his mind that distinguishes between people from denmark and people from south america. >> well he obviously he could, he could think whatever he wants. but the fact that the matter is that this is still a nation of immigrants. and to really distinguish between one part of the world on the other. >> i think it's divisive as sold for him to say what he said is divisive. and again, his weaponize it immigration right before an election and try to score some cheap political points. >> the white house today, president biden is going to come out with a new plan. differ, give some student loan debt, the white house says, in total the plans he will announce today would fully eliminate accrued interest for 23 million borrowers. would eliminate the interest accrued
4:59 am
would cancel the full amount of student debt for more than 4 million borrowers and provide more than 10 million borrowers with at least 5,000 and debt relief or more, the supreme court struck down his last effort to try to relieve some student debt how important is it? do think for him to try again? why do you think this will pass? i think was very important. >> we student loan debt has subpart past now for some years, are credit card debts estimation. >> imagine that >> people worry about their credit card debt, student loan debt has surpassed in total our credit card debt. as a young family trying to get up and do well for their children, has a tough time of their saddle, were very deep student loan debt, i think to give them a bump, to give them a lift is a good thing for america as a good thing for the family, obviously. and i think the president is doing the right thing. to try it again, there are republicans now on some of the intelligence foreign policies committee that are
