11:03 am
with an arrest involving a golfer, but not just any golfer. >> it's the world's best scottie scheffler. he was arrested early this morning on his way to play in the pga championship at the major tournament, you to win just weeks after his victory at the masters. >> scheffler reportedly tried to drive around a fatal crash scene near the golf course and kept driving. >> when an officer says he tried to stop him? espn's geoff duncan shot this video of the arrest of right now he's going to jail. >> okay. okay. >> he's going to jail ended eight, nine. you can do about scheffler for his part called all of this a quote, big misunderstanding. he though and you see him there in this jailhouse uniform. he is still charged with four counts including felony the assault on a police officer who was reportedly injured after being dragged by scheffler's car for several feet. let's go now to cnn correspondent patrick snail
11:04 am
and cnn chief law enforcement analysts, john miller. i want to start with patrick snail, who was at the pga championship there in louisville, kentucky patrick, we should also mention just hours after this scheffler returned to the course to play his second round. but this arrest is raising a lot of eyebrows because of how mild-mannered scheffler is known to be yeah. >> you're absolutely right. welcome to louisville hearing can take the world's top bryan golfer, scottie scheffler as clean cut as they come and he is very passionate as well about his causes, his christian values as well. and he says that the christian faith helps shape the person he is and golf at times always takes a backseat to vowed, but you know, he's such a dominant force in the game, right now. he's trying to win his third consecutive tournament, his fifth out of last six starts, he's just won the masters tournament for the second time. and boy woody fancy his chances of a third career major right

11:06 am
is fully cooperating facing as local authorities review, what took place back to you let's turn to john miller now and john were told police are reviewing that body camera footage of the incident. >> it's likely going to shed some more light on whether or not this was a misunderstanding . as scheffler has described it, what kind of role can it play? >> well, it can play a very decisive role, especially when you have. he said, he said scenario here. according to scheffler's attorney, he was directed to go that way. and the second officer stopped him and that's what he calls a miscommunication the story goes south where the officer says he was holding onto the car and scheffler and he lurched forward and drag the officer. what one witness described as about 30 feet before the officer fell to the ground causing these injuries, abrasions and swelling and so on the body camera will tell us what the officers instructions were, what what scheffler said in return, the body cameras of others there officers, and look
11:07 am
at all those police cars in the background, the dashboard cameras running from those cars. there are poll cameras that are up in that area on the high ground. so between all of those points of view, we should get a clear literally a clear picture of what occurred and maybe some of the sound that goes with it. >> yeah, i wonder john, what questions you have at this point because i i wonder. did one of these officers know if this was a golfer trying to enter the tournament did the other officer realize that kinda questions. >> do you have well, scheffler's attorney said he was driving a marked players car that has the name of the tournament on it and that he had credentials in the window that were visible and that, you know, all of that should have made it plain who he was, where he was going, but think of the way these scenarios actually occurred in real life. >> you come up upon the accident scene. this is not the normal traffic detail of police
11:08 am
officers who are always there and directing people in to the golf course and managing traffic. this is the team that's investigating the fatal accident involving a bus and another vehicle. and one officer says, okay we'll go around this way according to scheffler and another officer says, no. and at that point, does he say i'm just going to ignore this guy because the other guy said it was okay and accelerates the car and that's where the moment of truth is going to be looking at what happened right there, right then yeah, lots of questions here. john miller, patrick's nell. thank you so much to both. you obviously. we're hoping to get more information about this. and let's turn now to dr. video. very disturbing of sean diddy combs, where he is appearing to shove kick multiple times and then drag his then girlfriend, cassie. the graphic video, which was exclusively obtained by cnn, seems to support at least some of her claims about being physically abused, something that diddy denies the

surveillance video is recorded inside of a hotel back in 2016, and we do want to warn everyone before we play this video for you. it is violent. it is very hard to watch cnn's elizabeth wagmeister joins us with more from her exclusive reporting elizabeth walk us through this disturbing video yes, it is very disturbing footage to watch now, casie and diddy were in a long-term relationship over the course of a decade, many people may know her from her hit song called me and you from 2006, she was the first woman to come out with a lawsuit against diddy, and that is the first let's get started this domino effect. >> now that lawsuit was quickly settled within one day. but in that lawsuit, she references an incident that happened in los angeles hotel in 2016. we have obtained footage from that. >> let's take a look. new surveillance footage obtained exclusively by cnn appears to corroborate some of the allegations of abuse against
11:10 am
music mogul sean diddy combs. the video captured on multiple cameras shows combs assaulting his then girlfriend, cassie ventura in a hallway at a los angeles hotel in march 20 2016, a lawsuit filed by ventura in november last year and settled the next day reference actions that seem to match those seen in this video. there is no audio according to the complaint, comes became extremely intoxicated and punch ms ventura in the face, giving her a black guy, which according to the lawsuit, prompted ventura to try and leave the hotel room. the surveillance video obtained by cnn begins as she enters the hallway. the complaint says, as she exited mr. combs awoke and began screaming at ms ventura. he followed her into the hallway of the hotel while yelling at her. the complaint goes on to say he grabbed her and then took glass vases in the hallway and threw them at her in the surveillance video comes can be seen grabbing
11:11 am
ventura in throwing her to the ground as vent paralyze on the ground, combs then kicks her twice and attempts to drag her on the floor back to the hotel room ventura is seen picking up a hotel phone, comb seems to walk back to the hotel room then returns and appears to shove her in a corner moments later, he can be seen throwing an object in her direction according to ventura's now set a lawsuit, the pair began dating several years after they met in 2005. they parted ways in 2019. combs attorney said the decision to settle was in no way an admission of wrongdoing ventura declined to comment on the video, but her attorney told cnn the gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of mr. combs. words cannot express the courage and fortitude that ms ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light, the video hasn't been seen publicly
11:12 am
before and comes on the heels of a series of civil lawsuits alleging combs involvement in sex trafficking and sexual abuse allegations. combs has repeatedly denied in a december 2023 statement, combs responded to the claims in all the lawsuit saying sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday. let me be absolutely clear. i did not do any of the awful things being alleged now that statement from ditty was in reference to many of the allegations since him in kathy have reached a settlement, neither of them are able to comment on this. i have reached out to diddy's team and we have yet to hear back on this video all right. elizabeth wagmeister. thanks so much for that exclusive reporting. so the calm israel says it has recovered the bodies of three hostages killed by hamas at the nova music festival on october 7, we are following the latest

11:18 am
7 the bodies were taken into gaza they were celebrating life in the nova music festival and they were murdered by hamas see in an international diplomatic editor, nic robertson has been following this story for us, a neck, this is heartbreaking for so many of these families. what more can you tell us? >> yeah, the idf said this was an operation that involved, but then the idf and shin bet, the intelligence service, it was an intelligence led operation bodies were recovered from a tunnel. the operation took place last night but just terrible for the families of these three people because for so long they thought they'd hoped that their loved ones were alive worried every moment that they were in terrible conditions, that they're being tortured, that they weren't getting in our food, that all the horrible things that the
11:19 am
hostages have been released of talks about and now to find out that they'd actually escaped the music festival, they realize that danger was coming, gotten into vehicles and the managed to get about ten or 15 minutes drive away to methyl ssim, which is a kibbutz a short distance away. we drove past that kibbutz just a couple of days after the attack it was absolute chaos. there there were cars strewn on the road, all shot up babies, strollers. the side of vehicles are trunks open on the vehicles. and this is what the idf is saying. that rather than them actually being taken a they were killed when they thought that they had read which safety in this kibbutz. and we know from a relative who was on the phone with one of those young people. he said he was on the phone with her for about an hour-and-a-half talking to her and he could hear the gunfire. so the family
11:20 am
knew that the desperate nature of the situation she was in just kept hoping and hoping that she was alive. so this is a really hard day for those families now to have this terrible news, but what we're hearing from the other hostage families is a very clear message that they want their loved ones bought back. they want a deal done. the hostages released dead or alive, and two from home. >> nic robertson for us. thank you so much for that reporting. brianna. >> all right. here with us now, is lily greenberg call she is a former staffer in the biden administration who resigned her job from her job over the war that israel is waging in gaza against hamas. she is the first-known jewish appointee to publicly do so in lilly. thank you so much for being with us today first before i talk to you about your decision, here we have this news about the bodies of these three hostages been found. what is your reaction as we've learned this yeah, i mean, i'm i'm
11:21 am
devastated and i'm horrified and i'm, you know, it's tragic that they won't be reunited with their families but they. >> won't be able to sit at shabat tables that have been missing them for months. but i think it's very clear that the only way to bring back living hostages is a ceasefire deal. and that's what families of the hostages have been asking for, for months. >> tell us slowly about your decision. how long had you been thinking about this and how did you come to this it's it's been a very challenging personal decision because of my community, because of how i was raised. >> i think from the beginning, i've been very disappointed with the administration and how the rhetoric coming from the president and especially actually around jewish safety and how israel makes juice safe and israel wouldn't be, jews wouldn't be safe without an, the state of israel. but the last few weeks in particular, the the decision to continue sending weapons and money to israel even after they've pressing ahead with an invasion of rafah. that was the last
11:22 am
straw for me. >> the administration we had learned was suspending shipments of 502,000 pound bombs. what did you think about that i thought it's a step in the right direction. >> i think it would be a sign that the president is listening to the majority of americans who want a ceasefire, but after that, they still send $2 billion arms. and i think until that stops, until american bombs stop killing innocent people in gaza than the president hasn't done enough talking to jews who are supportive of israel, who are supportive of the war. >> certainly very sensitive to criticism of israel as it pursues this war after october 7 they've been very sensitive. many of the ones that i've spoken to when they see jewish students among protesters or when they see, no doubt someone like, you, a jew who is resigning from the what do you say to that i tell them that i
11:23 am
am living are jewish values all the values i learned from my community to alarm which means repairing the world. >> there's this idea in judaism called the patella mellow him. it means everyone's made in the image of god that those values informed with this decision that's how i know this is the right thing that it's the least jewish thing in the world to make people refugees, to wipe out entire families, and to make parents choose which kid gets to eat today. >> tell us about how you were grappling with this. what were the things that were forefront in your mind as you were thinking about making what is a huge decision? >> yeah. i mean, i every day since october 7, we have been getting messaging from the president, the most powerful person in the world, that the genocide of palestinians in gaza is necessary to keep you safe and once i decided that because of that, which i think is wrong, you know, i could no longer work for him. i thought to myself, i have a chance to
11:24 am
undermine that message and to cut through it. >> and i'm a really good messenger to do that, right? >> so as long as as long as again, american bombs are killing innocent people in gaza, i think everyone has to take a stand you use the word genocide. i will point out israel is adamant that there is not a genocide. you are well aware of that what do you, should israel exist as it does? >> should there be in israeli state? i mean, what do you think the future is going forward then? for a place that is safe for jewish people. >> i mean, i think israel as it exists right now, doesn't keep jewish people save for three hostages we're just, we're just killed, right? i think every person israeli, jewish, palestinian has the right to self-determination, to freedom, to dignity, and any system that but that suppresses one group for another is not safe. so whatever the long-term solution is here, it has to include israelis and palestinians and they both have to be at the table to build a thriving future for themselves should
11:25 am
there be an israeli state? you just think that there should be different leadership. i mean, what, what do you envision ultimately? >> i don't know if it's my job to decide that right. i'm i i'm an american jew. i think that should be up to people on the ground. but i do know that what's happening with american tax dollars and american weapons? is wrong and it doesn't keep my community safe lilly greenberg, call. >> thank you so much for being with us. we really appreciate it decorum. there was not lawmakers throwing so many insults during a hearing. this will scene look more like an episode out of jerry springer. i don't know, maybe more like real housewives of capitol hill i don't know what our elected officials are saying about it today. when we come back stanley cup playoffs presented by geico or run six this is gonna be fine, isn't it? answers ruins stars, avalanche

federal official. >> so concurrently, 30 years in prison minus time already served. it's been a little more than a year and a half since david to pap broke into the home of speaker emerita nancy pelosi house when she wasn't there and attacked her husband, paul with a hammer, severely injuring him and all of this was caught on cameras, both the break-in was caught on surveillance video, and then the assault itself was caught on body-worn camera in front of two police officers as speaker marital pelosi and her husband, paul, they were not in court today, but their daughter, christine was and she read victim statements on their behalf. paul saying in his statement that he continues to have health issues to this day, had fainting spells back in november, and they continue to be scared. they've had to re-up security as they continue to get threats to this day. speaker pelosi america, speaker america pelosi saying that their home is a heartbreaking crime scene and reminder every day of what happened now this wraps up. david to pape's federal case. he now moves onto his state trial, which should

happen later this summer. working is facing charges of attempted murder, as well as burglary and assault brianna all right. >> veronica miracle live from san francisco with the latest on that. thank you. >> partisan politics hitting a new low on capitol hill with lawmakers insulting how each other look in the middle of an oversight committee hearing that chaos, chaos unfolding last night during a house oversight hearing, the committee meeting to consider advancing contempt proceedings against attorney general merrick garland and then this happened do you know what we're here for? >> we're here you know what you're here for well, you don't want to talk about i think your fake eyelashes are messing up order mr. chairman and gag order of your midi order. >> i do have a point of order and i would like to move to take down ms greene's words that. is absolutely unacceptable. how dare you have

another person? >> are your feelings, her words down? oh, oh, girl, baby girl. oh, really don't even play baby girl. >> i don't think you're going to move and we're going to take your words down. second that motion. >> so that was congresswoman marjorie taylor greene, jasmine crockett, and alexandria ocasio-cortez, all in there. going back and forth and then continued that ms green agrees to strike her words. >> i believe share. >> hold on. then after mr. parish, you'll be recognized and ms i'm not apologize what the right to play. i am not apologizing, but let's go come on, guys. >> why don't you debate me? >> mr. chairman the minority cells. you're not yeah. you're not you don't have enough intelligence. chair recognizes mr. perry okay. move to strike ladies words again.
11:34 am
>> to request to strike. that's two requests to show they cannot take another congresswoman greene refused to apologize. congresswoman crockett then hit back i'm just curious. just better understand your ruling. if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody's bleach blonde, bad built, butch body that would not be engaging in personalities, correct. >> what now? >> chairman. i make i make a motion to strike those i don't think that's fine. >> clarification on what you said. >> we're not going we're not gonna do this like you guys earlier, literally okay, so get calm down. calm down no, no, because proceed you're not recognize you with your yellow
11:35 am
white mom down, you please call me to calm down you are adding troll has it? >> garcia? he's a democrat from california. he is a member of the oversight committee where that unfolded last night, congressman, thanks so much for being here we just watched those clips how is that serving the american people well, i mean, look, it's not, i mean, i was there last night and let's be very clear. >> marjorie taylor greene is 100% the person that not only started what happened last night, but continued to egg folks on throughout the hearing. she was disrupted it was shameful what she did, disgusting the way she disparaged ms crockett our colleagues, the ways she disparaged congress is going to cost you a cortes and we saw that over and over again that she kept harassing folks. she should be honestly, she should apologize. she should not be on
11:36 am
the committee as you should be ashamed of herself i hear you, but it sounds like we're on a playground and someone saying, but he she started it first and you're supposed to be doing the work of the american people and they watch these clips and go what is going on up there? >> well, let's let's remember why we were there in the first place. this was a republican ploy that happened at 8:00 p.m. because instead of having the hearing at 11:00 a.m. which were supposed to have the republicans cancel that so they could all fly to go see trump's trial in new york. and so now we're having an apm hearing, which by the way is rare and doesn't happen on capitol hill because republicans thought it was more important to play politics with president trump than it was to actually have this hearing. and then we're having a hearing about what? >> about president biden and accusing them accusing him of being too old, accusing the attorney general of malfeasance and trying to the port president biden in some way. >> and so we were there to do work to actually get the facts
11:37 am
out. and the very first thing that happens is marjorie taylor greene starts attacking the appearance of one of our colleagues. that is what started last night it enraged people, not not just myself, but clearly a lot of other folks and things devolve from there so no, that should not be happening in the house of representatives. but let's be clear, it's because we're the politics of the republicans and because marjorie taylor greene has no business being in the us congress and in, response to last night's happenings, senator john fetterman of pennsylvania tweeted in the past. i've described the us house as the jerry springer show today. i'm apologizing to the jerry springer show. what do you think of his comments? >> well, i first of all, i disagree with both sides inke issue. i think first of all i was proud and i support the fact that congresswoman ocasio-cortez stepped into defend a representative crockett and both of these women were then attacked by
11:38 am
marjorie taylor greene and others. again, i know that you guys played a clip which i saw would certainly highlighted some of the worst moments, but they also attacked alex's intelligence they attacked jasmine crockett a few times. and so what are we supposed to do? just sit there and take it all night. i think that we responded the members responded, obviously ideally, that would not be happening, but it would not have happened had marjorie taylor greene essentially not to debase the institution like she continuously doesn't. and this isn't the first time she's person by the way, that shows pornography at the same hearing, she's the same person that is showing all he's horrible images at the same hearing. so the bottom line is she should not be on the committee or any committees, quite frankly. >> and she certainly does. >> yes. she she just needles at people to your point and really goes after them. but she exists. there is on this committee as it is today. and so what do you think can be done to avoid this? happening
11:39 am
in the future? is there anything that can be done in besides her leaving the committee will first look. i think i'm the i'm the only democrat that sits on the same three exact committees as marjorie taylor greene. >> i have the great fortune of being the only one i see this over and over and over again i've said this before. she shouldn't be on any committees she has no business not just being in congress, but certainly not committee. she can't legislate and it is against our rules to attack the appearance of other members. and so what she did last night by the way, because we're meeting late at night because they have to go support president trump during the day, wasn't cold four. and at this its own, the speaker, the speaker should, should step in and the speaker should remove her from these committees. she is a danger to the house. she causes all sorts of problems and i think everyone has just sick of it. and so we need to move on and actually get back to work for the american people hope that what, what happened last night won't happen again. >> hi congressman robert

federal judiciary, but this tears at the fabric of their credibility in their integrity so what do you think this should mean for alito's role on the court, should he recuse himself from cases involving january 6, for instance? well, it certainly calls into question particularly when they just had oral argument recently in the case involving immunity and honestly, i thought justice alito my view over complicated the issue. it may take the chord so long to decided that the january 6 trial that involves foreign president trump is going to take place and you have to wonder when you see this. and i think people do wonder should be recuse? i think he should seriously consider it. will he? i'm quite sure that he won't. >> i mean, by that measure i suppose you would think that clarence thomas maybe should also recuse this himself because of ginni thomas is involvement in trying to change outcomes and talk to people
