well, that's true and i think even kevin mccarthy's being hypocritical because how many women have accused donald trump of sexual assault or sexual abuse? >> i think it's two dozen women and where's where's the outrage about that? but when it comes to matt gaetz because he has a political vendetta against some sudden he wants to call him out national television. >> and the republican party really decide, we already know they're no longer the law and order party. >> are they really the family values party aligned with donald trump for paying hush money to a porn star to try to, to try to win an election. i think we have to really consider who the source is and the republicans have. i think weaken their case to be in effect if party that should be competitive in any of all right. >> keith black in pc. great to see both of you this morning. too, young men joining me for an important political discussion. thank you very much. i knew our cnn news central starts right now
6:01 am
moments ago the first lady, jill biden, just arrived to court as her son is about to face trial, a historic first there and jury selection has started. >> this one good morning. also, dr. anthony fauci is now retired from government, but he will be back on capitol hill for what's expected to be a combative and contentious hearing as republican chins grill him over the origins of covid and history being made in mexico. the nation has elected its first female president. i'm kate bolduan with john berman. sarah is out today. this is cnn news central happening now. jury selection is underway in the federal gun trial of president biden's son, hunter biden. hunter biden did arrive according in wilmington, delaware, just a short time ago, just minutes later first lady, jill biden, also walked into the courthouse. hunter biden's trial marks the first time and you this history that
6:02 am
a child is sitting president is on trial and at the center of it all is a revolver. biden is charged with illegally buying it and possessing it while abusing or being addicted to drugs. that is the charge cnn's evan perez is outside the federal courthouse in wilmington, delaware. where are we this morning, gavin, once the latest hey, john wrote this historic trial is now officially underway judge maryellen noreika has gobbled. >> the start of the proceedings. we have about 250 jurors in the courthouse. they're going to be led through a series of questions about their political views, their activities, their views on gun control, their views on addiction, whether they have a relationship with the bidens, of course, is the smallest state in the united states. it's also a state where the biden family looms very large. so we expect that this is going to take a little while to be, able to see a seat, a jury.
6:03 am
what we know right now, john, is that this this is a trial that could take just over a week. it's the case that looms large politically. obviously, the first son of a sitting president, being put on trial here by the federal government by joe biden's own justice department is also very personal. we're going to have a lot of his personal activities, including his struggle with drug addiction that is going to be part of this trial. you saw the first lady, jill biden, show up here to show support for him, we are told that when she entered the courtroom she gave him a hug and they sat there just behind his table this is a case, obviously, john, that has gone a long way since 20 and 18. this is when the justice department first started investigating hunter biden for his business activities. possible tax violations, and over for the period of that over the
6:04 am
intervening years, we saw we've seen a lot of information come out of this, including, of course, his laptop, which prosecutors are going to use some of that evidence from his lab to try to show that he was drug addicted when he bought this firearm, this gun back in 2018, he owned this gone for about 11 days back in 2018 before his then woman, the woman who he was dating with, threw it away. and so that's where this case enters. we know john that at the end of this, of course, hunter biden places very, very long odds. >> there is no doubt that on this gun, there is no doubt that he was struggling with drug addiction there is also no doubt that he talked about it. he's admitted to some of this a publicly in his memoir in some of those text messages that the government is going to use against him hunter biden's pleaded not guilty, but he is also going to try to poke polls
6:05 am
in the government's case, trying to argue that he didn't know necessarily that he was addicted to drugs when he when he when he signed those forms not allowed him to buy that gun back in 2018. again, this proceeding is just now underway. we expect that jury selection is going to take probably today into tomorrow john in every just a little bit more about how biden intends to defend himself and whether there's any discussion of a possible plea deal. still, even at this late stage well, i mean, there is always a chance of a plea deal right up until the right during the trial. that happened. that does happen from time the time from all our conversations with lawyers involved, that does not seem likely you'll remember, of course, that during this investigation back in 2020 23, there was a plea deal that was reached and then it fell apart spectacularly inside this very courthouse. they judge, asked some questions about some of
6:06 am
the terms of that edl and it fell apart. of course, that's why hunter biden now is now facing these gun charges here in delaware, and he's also facing additional tax charges in coulomb's before nia. so it is possible that there could be some kind of deal worked out, but it does not look likely. again, we for based on everything we know from this case, that the odds are very much against hunter biden. of course, we'll see what a jury ends up deciding. john could be a very emotional and painful week for hunter biden and the biden family. me perez, thanks so much for being with us this morning, joining us now is seen in legal analyst and criminal defense attorney joy jack jackson and bernardo veal on a criminal defense attorney and former new york prosecutor, the number of times i still find a way his gruesome even though you're good, thickly like my work has been i'm burned out. let's start where where john was leaving off with the idea of a plea deal. still, do you think it could happen still who who would want it, who
6:07 am
wouldn't it's still possible that hunter biden can plead guilty. >> you gotta think you could plead guilty up until the time there's a verdict, you have to think with hunter biden unfortunately, the government's evidence is very strong with the government permits evidence number one, bn strong also contemplating the witnesses that are going to testify against you. do you want to put your ex-wife do this? do you want to put put in this? you're your brother's widow. do you want to put her through this so you want to put again, get your laundry, your dirty laundry? it out. so these are things to consider. and also because you're facing jail, it's not positive that you will get a jail sentence, but because there's a possibility of a jail sentence it's likely if you plead guilty, you can try to avoid that because there'll be mitigation that a judge would take into account. so in a case like this, you know, it's defense attorneys is all about mitigating exposure and in a case like this, it would be in his best interest because of the strength of the case for him to plead guilty. >> what easing of the case against a hunter biden here,
6:08 am
joey, i don't think much of it. and here's what i mean by that. i think that listen, what courts have to be about our equity, you seek equitable results in court and prosecutors have a great deal of discretion russian, were in different times, kate were in bizarro times, political retribution times. we're talking about a case with someone who was addicted. there are many people in this world who are addicted. that's a problem. i mean, it's a real problem. people can relate to a person who had a gun for a period of 11 days, a person who had a lot going on in his life, losing his brother bo in 2015, right. leading to this addiction problem and the things that stem from it, losing his mom's a child, losing his sister as a child. why am i saying all this? but an artist spoke to a very critical issue of mitigation that's what us defense attorneys all about. it's about giving information that lessens the case and when you have a plea deal last year where there was a diversion program status trouble for two years. once you stay out of trouble, you're all going to be good. that's what this is about. and i think if we bring some common sense
6:09 am
and good judgment, prosecutors would use that discretion to do that, but they won't because we're in such difficult times, but it's a pretty straightforward case. for sure. >> this whole issue of the question on the federal form that they fill out, i think is fascinating because this gets to because biden's defense team, it's been said is going to try to lean into that. he did not believe or he did not think that he was addicted or an addict at the time? hi, i'm a filling out the form because one of the questions on the form is, are you an unlawful user of or addicted to illegal drugs? >> a burner you think do you see that as gray area? i mean, who determines who is an addict? >> exactly. and that's the issue that the defense is going to hone in on to the point that they wanted to call an expert to testify about addiction to tau exactly. >> so then the question would be, who would you call ask questions of? unfortunately, it seems that hunter biden will probably be the only person to only witness that will be able to give information that on
6:10 am
that date at that time, i didn't believe that i was an attic. i had just left rehab 11 days prior, like i did not believe i was addict, so therefore, i do not believe that i was lying on this form. same thing with the possession of the firearm, however, there's going to be conflicting testimony from other witnesses. so it's all going to boil down, i guess, on hunter biden testify, even though i don't recommend for him to testify because he's old i've been up to so much having his laptop having his book, having statements that he's made, text messages, conversations with his ex-wife and with his brother's widow. so dealing with all of that, i wouldn't want to expose them to testify, but unfortunately, in a case like this, this there may be no other resorts. >> she's saying i'm interested in an all-call to conundrum of, you. i don't know if i've ever heard you recommend that a defendant takes the stand, but it does this kind of presents an interesting situation like katie, it always depends and i think a case like this, you have a serious jury nullification issue. and what
6:11 am
do i mean in english? jurors look at things and things have to make sense to them. and sometimes people have sympathetic not to be clear, you can get a lot of information out as it relates to mr. hunter biden three who family members, and those people, you know, the witness list, ex-wives, et cetera. will tell you what he's gone through. the dark moments he had the experiences he was enduring at that particular time. i think that'll be mitigation, but in an instance like this, yes, the problem has he'd be salvaged. he has a book out there speaking about addiction, right? there are certain things in text messages. he'll be questioned on saying to ali who he was with his brothers, ex-wife. are you kidding are you crazy? get it right now. why did you put it in a dumpster? so there's a lot to overcome, but i just think that this is a very sympathetic case. and at the end of the de, the jury, notwithstanding the defense or lack thereof, could say, you know what, we're throwing this out of here? risky, write, jury nullification, but i think if there's going to be an outflow him, that maybe interests and jury selection underway as we speak, it's great to see you guys. thank you so much.
6:12 am

house of the dragon streaming exclusively on macs are happening now, the jury selection is underway in the federal gun trial of president biden, son hunter biden. hunter biden did arrive a court very shortly ago also in the courtroom firstly, jill biden, now, hunter biden is charged legally buying a revolver and possessing it. well abusing or being addicted to drugs with us. now a cnn political commentator, former white house communications director kate benningfield former trump 2020 director of strategic communications, mark lottery, were to do a lot of communicating right here. thank you both for being with us, kate, i just want to ask you because you have worked for president biden for quite a long time from the campaign all the way through the first years in the white house what was it like for him when issues surrounding hunter biden came up? we know we spent the night in wilmington, delaware. he's there and wilmington, delaware right now. jill biden at the courthouse right now. so what was it like for him? >> it's hard for him. he's a father first, he is somebody
6:18 am
who truly puts family first even amidst everything he has going on in his life. and so like any father, it is hard for him when his son is dealing with difficult issues and don't forget you know, their family has been through the struggle of addiction alongside hunter witch hunters spoken quite movingly and eloquently about of course, it is challenging for him as a father now, obviously it does not prevent him from focusing on the work of the country, but like any family man, it's hard for him when his son is going through something difficult mark, this is the first time the child of a sitting president has ever gone on trial. and this is happening in a legal system that many republics, including donald trump claim he is rigged against them it's pretty bad job bringing the justice system if the president's son is on trial? yes well, this one is pretty hard to ignore. >> obviously, the facts are pretty clear on this one, but really this is not the trial that i'm mostly concerned about. obviously, this current
6:19 am
trial is the one that deals with hunter's well-documented addictions and some of his inner demons and he'll answer to the justices some. it's the one in september that i'm more concerned about. that's the one that obviously involves tax evasion for an influence peddling the millions of dollars that were coming into the biden family from foreign entities. and so this one very personal for the bidens and i feel for them, i hope hunter gets the help he needs. it's the next one that i'm more focused on it neither cases or any connection at all. >> we should note to president biden himself, these are both issues that deal with hunter mark. i want to ask you now about the case involving donald trump now convicted of a felony, 34 counts here in man and hattan, lara trump, who is now helping run the republican party, went on tv this weekend and spoke out against republican senate candidate larry hogan in maryland for the fact that larry hogan said
6:20 am
really, i think nothing more than we have to respect the justice system and watch this play out. listen to what lara trump said i think anybody who's not speaking up in the face of really something that should never again have seen the light of day at trial that would never have been brought against any other person aside from the rnc support the respect does anyone respective anymore do you he doesn't deserve a detective, anyone in the republican party at this point. >> and quite frankly, anybody in america, if that's the way you feel, that's very upsetting to hear that she's with the rnc saying that about the republican candidate, mark, is that the way you want to take back the senate well i think it was a political mistake the way larry hogan handled this look, maryland's a deep blue state, but still 33%, about a third of the voters voted for donald trump in 2020. >> he needs all of those voters and 17% more to claim a senate seats. so if you alienate that
6:21 am
33%, you've got a much bigger, much bigger mountain to climb. so politically, i think he handled this badly and it's gonna be a tough race for him if he's got to try to win back, the supporters of donald trump and then add the moderates, the independence, the people who don't like inflation in the open borders on top of that i do wonder if in a blue state, i mean maryland is really blue it actually helps larry hogan to be getting attacked by the trump's it probably does, but i will say broadly speaking, for the rnc and for the trump campaign, for the trump operation. >> this is a completely bananas political strategy. i think that's actually the term of art. it is insane, okay. >> if you look at the data, look at the polling that has come out post verdict, you see that norm, more than half of independents say they believe that trump should end his campaign as a result of this verdict and a not insignificant number of republicans, i think 16% and the ipsos poll say that he should end his campaign pain
6:22 am
because of this verdict. and we also saw this play out. i would argue throughout the republican primary where a significant number of republicans voted for nikki haley long after she dropped out because they were expressing their never trump frustration. >> so the idea that their strategy is to double down, triple down quadruple down on firing up only their base. essentially completely ignore the moderates, the swing voters who are ultimately going to decide this election, which is going to be decided on the margins is crazy. now, at the end of the day, maybe it may help larry hogan in very blue maryland to have trump taking a swing at him. but we're seeing across the board, this is the way that they're the strategy that they're for employing to handle this verdict. and i think ultimately is is not going to resonate with voters that they need to win over in order to win this election more bananas. is that a term of art that you understand in the communications business that you're both in well obviously i understand cage point of view on this, but look, this verdict is not going to change anything
6:23 am
in this election. people don't like the high gas prices, the grocery prices, the wide-open southern border, the wars that are raging, and all of those things fall at the feet of joe biden and so that's what's going to decide this election. and folks in the middle who are struggling to pay for gas and groceries, they're the ones that are going to go to the polls. it's not going to have anything to do with the verdict in new york. >> how much will a very placate? >> i think it will be one factor. i i agree that it's not going to be determinative. but again, remember this is an election that is probably going to be won or lost by thousands of votes in a handful of swing states. and so putting forward a strategy that alienates a lot of those voters isn't smart. that being said, i agree that ultimately this issue, this election is going to be driven by the issues that matter to people at their kitchen table. i think you see the biden campaign in the way they've been responding to the verdict acknowledging that they have gone out of their way to not overtly politicize it. they're not as much as the trump
6:24 am
campaign wishes they might. they're not taking a victory lap. i mean, they know that this is one piece of the argument. the political argument against donald trump. it's not the whole ball game by any stretch. and so it's one part of arguing that he is not fit to be president of the united states. again. but ultimately, i think this campaign is going to be driven by the issues that matter to people at their kitchen tables mark water cape, any field i'm glad we could end in an area of agreement. thank you both for being here this morning with me. i appreciate it. thank you. thank you. >> bones from now, dr. anthony fauci set to face a grilling on capitol hill fireworks are expected as republicans pressed him on the pandemic response a history-making presidential election in mexico, meet the woman that jewish woman who will soon lead that nation? >> sometimes the best thing you can do with intelligence is shared with your adversary he and his secret is betrayed its bullet to the back of the hand secrets and spies nuclear gain.

absolutely free text fellow vii to three 21321. today this morning summer school programs in atlanta are canceled because of huge complications over water main breaks. >> we are told progress is being made. what have two major breaks have now been repaired just a few moments ago, kate spoke with the city's mayor to the people over land. >> i do want to apologize that this has frustrated you in a frustrated me over this weekend. >> this is not the way the city nor the visitors, residents and tended to spend our week in habit to boil water and have to deal with low pressure or water outages and certain areas seen as ryan young on the streets in
6:30 am
atlanta were rein it looks i think probably thankfully dry for the people of atlanta behind you yeah. for right now. but this is having a major impact with everyone trying to get to work. i mean, you're talking about the major middle of the city here. this is midtown roads. are blocked, so it makes it hard to get around town, especially on a monday morning. but if you look down that direction, the good news so far is the water is not bubbling up at one point the water here, according the folks was four stories high in the sayyed that building. and the rocks, the sediment from the inside are being pushed at such force, it actually shattered the windows of the business right next door to where that water main break was. now, you talked to the mare. he was telling you that both of these water mains were quite old before the 1940s and anyone who lives in the city understand as the fact that there has been major work done over the years to try to get all these water mains fixed. but at the same time, that hasn't happened fast enough for all the expansion that's going on in this big city here. so between google, between the marriott hotel and all the high-rises
6:31 am
that are going on around here. they've definitely dealt with some water pressure issues. i talked to one guy today who say he was going to have to drive to a friend's house to get a shower because all weekend long, they've been experiencing issues with trying to take a shower or having to boil water. now, this only had not only the impact down here, but there were concerts that got canceled mega the stallion was supposed to have a performance on saturday and friday that didn't happen because of this residents have been walking out and asking the folks here, when was this all going to be done? so you see the work is being done behind me, but up the street here there are also cutting the street and we've had residents walking down to ask, that same question. the mirror himself has plans to be down here around 1030 to try to figure out exactly where the progress is. >> we believe today, but this will be taken care of. >> but think about the hospitals as well. that was impacted, were told to flow there at grady memorial hospital is we've taken care of there are back fully operational. they brought take years to actually put water into some of these places to make sure they stay functional. this has been a big unconvinced for the folks at midtown
6:32 am
hopefully this will be all over lulu and your today. but when you talk about infrastructure and the need for improvement, this is really sums it up when you think about the impact two resonance when it comes to driving and terms of water pressure and all the small businesses that were shutdown this week in around this area because you can't really cook and clean the right way if you don't have that water pressure as a huge impact, let's hope it all gets taken care of sun ryan. yeah, great to have you there. thank you very much. >> kate next hour or dr. anthony fauci will be back on capitol hill for what is sure to be a grueling de of testimony. republican lawmakers are holding a hearing on the origins of covid. covid. and are expected to grill him fauci as a celebrated scientist, no doubt, but became the perfect villain for republicans to target over the nation's response to the pandemic. cnn's lauren fox is on capitol hill and we're likely to see that on full display today. what is expected to happen in this hearing, lauren and also what's expected to be learned from the hearing. >> yeah. you can expect that this is going to be once again a battle publicly between

6:40 am
coming in. >> president biden has just put out a statement about his son hunters trial as it is getting underway right now. >> cnn's arlette saenz is at the white house to bring us more on this arlette, what does the president saying? >> okay, president biden is trying to show support for his only living son, hunter biden, as those trial into those federal gun charges get under gets underway in wilmington, delaware today. now the president says he's approaching this from the perspective of a father and not commenting on the legal matters at hand. but in this lengthy statement, the president said, quote, i am the president, but i am also a dad, jill and i love our sun, but we are so proud of the man. he is today hunters resilience in the face of adversity and the strength is brought to his recovery are inspiring to us. a lot of families have loved ones who have overcome addiction and know what we mean as the president don't and won't comment on pending federal cases. but as a dad, i have boundless love for my son, confidence in him, and respect
6:41 am
for his strength. our family has been through a lot together and jill and i are going to continue to be there for hunter in our family with our love and support. it's worth noting that first lady jill biden, whose birthday also happens to be today, is actually in attendance at that courthouse in wilmington, delaware as this trial gets underway, president since really has not distanced himself in any way from hunter biden as he has faced multiple legal issues that have played out over the course of the past year. in fact, the president spent time with hunter biden at their home and rehoboth beach, delaware over the weekend, he's had him here at the white house for official events, including that state for the president of kenya, just last month. but what the white house and the president have repeatedly said is that the president is continues to approach this matter as from the viewpoint of a father that he is not concerned about the political fallout that could come from some of hunter biden's legal woes at a time when republicans have tried to make that an issue two heading
6:42 am
into the 2024 campaign. so once again, we are hearing from president biden offering a fatherly perspective, saying that he supports his son as this trial is getting underway and stressing that he will not comment on the actual legal full issues at hand let thank you so much for jumping onto bring us that this morning. john. >> so frehse off his conviction on criminal charges by a new york jury. donald trump is predicting what might happen if he is sent to jail when he is sentenced on july 11 it could face what i'm okay with it. i don't know that the public would stand it. i don't i'm not sure the public would stand for it with a house arrest for i think i think it would be tough for the public to take, you know, at a certain point, there's a breaking point california democrat adam schiff told cnn's kasie hunt that trump's language is quote, another dangerous appeal to violence well this now former us capitol police officer harry dunn, he and other january 6
6:43 am
officers are campaigning for president biden in swing states. >> officer, thanks so much for being with us this morning when you hear donald trump say breaking point, what do you hear in that? >> yeah, you can good. good to be with you, but i can i immediately think back to what happened on january 6. it's like a subtle but not so subtle call for action. talked about the public, the people won't stand for it yeah, it's kinda like saying the quiet part out loud that we fed republicans, including republicans on this morning say no, no, no, he's talking about a political movement and going to the battle ballot box. what do you say to that? >> no, i don't believe it. i mean, how many times do does he have to explain what he said? i mean, this isn't the first time we've heard donald trump speak. you know, i think the benefit of the doubt of his words in his rhetoric that's worn out. we've already seen what he's capable of, what what his followers in
6:44 am
supporters our capable of. and i think that's what we need to listen to. the benefit of the doubt talking about what he really meant. no, he said what he really meant so here you actually have been involved in, in politics yourself. >> you're not just campaigning for president binding, but you ran for congress herself. so it's in that spirit i asked you a political question. now, mitt romney, the republican senator from utah, who's no support are by the way, of donald trump is not supportive of the criminal case in new york. he said that alvin bragg should have settled the case against trump as would have been the normal for procedure. but he made a political decision. bragg may have won the battle for now, but he may have lost the political war. democrats think they can put out the trump fire with oxygen. it's political malpractice putting out the trump fire with oxygen. so to what extent do you see as that being what's happening here well, if that's what meet ronnie thinks that there's happening, i mean, it sounds like with that statement alone that mitt romney has lost
6:45 am
faith and doesn't believe that the criminal justice system one individuals is above it. >> just looked just compare the two statements that the rhetoric that donald trump has been saying since it's trial. and look at what joe biden just said about his son. he's there to support his son and he's not going to comment about the criminal justice system because he believes in a's going to let it take its course period for mitt romney just say something like that. it suggests that individuals are above the law and i think what new york, what happened in new york showed that nobody is above it whether it's somebody can say that is politically motivated or not. i don't believe that these institutions the american people, aren't counting on the institutions to save us, so to speak. in november i think what it's going to come down to the american people getting out. and finally rejected donald trump once and for all at the ballot box how much do you attend? >> because you are going to be
6:46 am
traveling to swing states. you already have been how much do you intend to talk about the guilty verdict in new york on the campaign trail not much to be to be very candid and honest luge. i haven't followed that trial at all. i mean, i obviously am following the january 6 hearings and what's happening at the supreme court. i have more personal stake in that, so to speak. and that's my lived experience. what i went with me and my coworkers went through on january 6. so i've been following that one a little more closer. so i'll probably have a lot more to say once that decision is rendered by the supreme court but to be very candid, i haven't been following the hush money payments trial to very much. >> got it a lot of democrats are focused on the issue of democracy being in parallel. and there are question is to what extent that we'll have political residents? you ran for congress. you did not want win the democratic primary that you ran. and does that show some kind of limitation about
6:47 am
that discussion no i don't believe so at all. >> i mean to me, even honestly, somebody individuals that i talked to, even in the district that i ran in, people that were that voted for one of my opponents said that they definitely believed that democracy is in peril that's one of the number one issue that i heard while i was out there obviously, in addition to the high kitchen table issues, gas prices codify roe v. wade, and federal legislation. all those are very important, but i think the overlying theme that was very resonant out there was democracy. we don't know what well, we do know what a dominant, another donald trump presidency will look like because he's told us and that will be one that plays a dictatorship over democracy. and that's one of the reasons why we have to elect joe biden in november perry done. >> good to see you this morning. thanks so much for speaking with us youtube.
6:48 am
>> thanks, man right. >> still grounded this morning. the boeing starliner is stuck on my launchpad. what needs to happen to complete the cow down sometime soon and simone biles one complete domination on her way to the islands birth we have schreiber and good night on on cnn. a year after a heart attack, mics feeling like himself again. but even though time has passed, his risk of a second attack hasn't mike is still living in the red with a very high risk of another your heart attack or stroke. he doesn't know with his risk factors. his ldl, see bad cholesterol is still too high. the recommended level is below 55 are you living in the red get in the know, learn how to get a free ldl. see tests at attack heart disease.com you

mean, it's perfection. i know you can you come close when you're doing your bar routine, but you know, i i like almost fell over standing up little load like all the time it's floor markings that are just exactly i don't belong to play. >> do that four-inch wide. >> that's how wider beam is. john berman. and she's doing that okay. >> let's move to this nasa and boeing are back to the drawing board, kinda sorta the long-anticipated and closely watched the launch of boeing's starliner's first crewed test flight was aborted. >> again astronauts barry wilmard into me to williams. were just under four minutes from takeoff when it was scrubbed, seen as kristin fisher is following this one, tried and scrubbed again. what happened, kristen yeah. >> so believe it or not, kate, the reason for the scrub actually wasn't caused by boeing or it's starliner spacecraft, which sits on top of the rocket and the rocket itself was actually, actually fine too. that's rocket called the atlas five. it's built and
6:55 am
operated by the united launch alliance, a different company. so kate, the hardware was actually fine on saturday for this second launch attempt. the issue was with a ground computer. the computer that is supposed to give the rocket the automatic command to launch. and so they essentially over the last few days have gone out and replaced some of the cards that are in this computer. they think they fixed it until now, they're going to try again on wednesday morning, kate, that is brutal. they just needed to control, delete on the shooter and there's none or all of the work oh, okay. so this one i'm confused about, so i need a little bit of help the parade of planets lot being made highly anticipated. it was going to be bananas to see it. and then not so much what happened here? >> yeah. so kate, it's an issue of yes. there are six planets perfectly aligned in the sky right around this time but nasa
6:56 am
says, you're only really going to be able to see two of them. and here's why if we can pop up this graphic, you'll be able to see right at the bottom love the horizon. you've got jupiter and mercury. there too low to the horizon. there too bright. basically, they're gonna be drowned out by the sun. you're not gonna be able to see them and then newt, neptune and uranus are too faint in the sky. you're not gonna be able to see them without a telescope. so nasa says really the only planets are going to be able to see mars and saturn. and hey, we can see two planets in the night sky all the time. what's neat about that? >> but kate all is not lost. they say try again on june 29, saturn, the moon, mars and jupiter will all line up. so that is your best chance to see an actual parade of planets infection calendar marked good thing. >> you've got to start coming sooner because i love a parade. i have to say, you really do hello, i can use great martial.
