any movement? >> hey, john, good morning. there is no question that other democratic lawmakers are looking at what lloyd doggett and several others have said, not quite as forcefully that there needs to be a change at the top of the democratic tickets. so i am told that today that polling that we've been talking about that research from some swing states it's in battleground districts is likely to come in and the biden campaign is going to take a closer look at some of this. but john, you could feel things change throughout the day into the afternoon and evening hours yesterday, there is a sense that biden advisers know, obviously how serious this is. the president is the bigger question here. of course, he wants what's best for the democratic party. the question is, is that still him? but yesterday the conversation also began to increasingly focused on vice president kamala harris. she of course has been a big defender of of president biden. she said the debate was

not good, but said his entire candidacy and presidency should not hinge on that one debate. but she also is speaking out forcefully about needing to take on donald trump yesterday on the campaign trail. she said this joe biden is our nominee. we'd be trump once and we're gonna be two periods. are you ready to lead the country? that's a scary proud to be joe biden's mining so she said we beat trump wants and we will beat them to get them course she was on the ticket in 2020 and she is on the ticket this time and that is something that is important to remember this campaign is her campaign as well. >> yesterday, new cnn polling really showed some very interesting numbers in terms of how she stacks up to biden should she be at the top of the ticket? of course, these are all hypotheticals. president biden has not made a decision, but look at these numbers here. if the choice is the democratic

candidate versus a trump, right there biden and harris, 49, 43. she is within the margin of error, but more interestingly on women, look at these numbers here. she is stronger among women. then joe biden is, she would get 50% of women pulled biden only 44% independent voters also. so interesting, she would get 43% of the independent vote. president biden. now is only getting 34%. so in some questions, she has emerged as a stronger nominee, at least hypothetically, then president biden of course this would all change should be defined in, a new way, should this happen but now in the here and now, president biden is still at the top of his campaign. of course, he is planning ahead. he has an interview on friday with george stephanopoulos on the campaign trail. and tonight that critical meeting with governors i am told that several democratic governors are coming here not to read him the riot act, but to prop him up and to give him support and the space

one, they say that, oh well, we're not probably not going to bring that up next year. >> let me tell you. i've already hear them talking about it in the house of representatives because that's where the biggest portion of that freedom caucus is, what they call themselves. that's where that stirring and they're going to bring it back up because now they know and they're they're the ones that started the little saying we're going to get rid of all the republican women in the senate because they started this, they wouldn't let us get what we wanted last year. were taken him out so and they did really good job. i mean, they took us out and i hope they're happy because now so many other things won't get done. everybody wants to say that this abortion bill was going we took them out. they will get what we want, but they're not going to get so many other things. now and they will bring abortion up limb what they want it's not just abortion with no exceptions, they won't zero

abortions at conception with no exceptions. there's a bill in south carolina house, it says with no exceptions and if you have an abortion for the life of the mother if the mother has the abortion, she could face the death penalty i mean, because she had an abortion to save her life. the doctor can lose his license if you perform an abortion. he could face criminal penalties. it's gone mad i'm mean, people can have their own health care. and one of the things that i said while i stood there last year before before we got recognized, which caused another who blocked but i said that women should make these decisions with their family if they're religious, they should talk to their god. they should talk to their family. but surely they should talk to their doctor their doctor should be the one

helping to make these decisions. not 46 members of the south carolina and the legislature in which there is no doctor, the closest thing we had to a doctor was a pharmacist. and i certainly don't want him being my ob-gyn senator i know that i can i can tell you do not regret the fight. my stance. you've taken the position you've held abortion is, you know, is huge issue, not just in the state and federal races all across the country. you're a tried and true republican. you backed donald trump in 2016. you supported tim scott and then also nikki haley in the primary this time. do you like donald trump's position on abortion is essentially not really taking one, but saying the states should decide and you have seen what that has meant in your state. >> i think the federal government had we were perfectly fine before people started messing with it. i think if donald trump would stand by his position, his

position right now is more liberal than mine. he says 15 weeks i had legislation out there that said 12 weeks and we almost past that. we were to votes short. and it was 25 to 27, i think the people that were there that day and we almost passed the legislation that headed 12 weeks with the exceptions and they didn't pay us. so then the ends up in another quinone drum goes back to the house, they come back with something else crazy. but if donald trump would stand with the 15 week, jiang agree with that, but i don't think it's state state-by-state issue is not working because some states have zero abortions with zero exceptions. some states have wide open abortion tool. you know the baby's born. that's not right. i
