and you can feel the sense of relief among democrats and you look at the polling that's come out in the last 24 hours, what you see is a consolidation of democrats, including younger democrats african americans, and so on. people of color who were tepid before and have now come back. so she is consolidating the democratic base. there's more work to do. it's going to be a long, hard slog and you can see how the republicans are trying to characterize her or caricature her but certainly democrats are in a much better position today than they were you know, 48 hours ago. yeah. >> it's fascinating to just feel that from what you're hearing from different people and seeing the crowds in the way they've reacted to her there is you mentioned the poll, a new one. reuters ipsos poll showing that harris is up by two points but still of course, within the margin of error. kate, i want to ask you

about, it is interesting to me that we're not we're not hearing the words worried about whether a woman could become president. never mind the fact that she's a black woman who also how south asian roots, when you think about what could happen here, i mean, is america going to be ready for a black female president? >> i think so because she is the most qualified to take the office. i mean, she has been she's been district attorney. she's been attorney general, spent a senator or she obviously has served for now almost four years as vice president and alongside joe biden so you see these efforts by republicans to caricature her as san francisco liberal. i think if this is a race that is going to be fought on the grounds of who is more extreme, that is winning territory for the democrats and for harris, when you have in trump and vance, people who are advocating that women shouldn't have the right to make their own decisions about their bodies. you have you know, people who are saying that are free and fair

elections are no longer a core fundamental tenant of who we are as americans. appreciating free and fair elections. so i think this is a race about extremism harris is going to have the upper hand. and yes, i think the country is ready for a woman president, ready for to see kamala harris behind that resolute desk? absolutely. but i also i agree with x. and certainly if you look at this this polling, it is going to be a slog. i mean, there's no question. the country is partisanship in the country is very calcified and there's no question this is going to be a close race. but i think in the end, she's got what it takes. >> i want to ask you about some of the things that the republicans are trying out. david, we've had donald trump go on his true social and truth, social and just try a bunch of things, calling her dumb you heard the san francisco liberal thing happening again and again and again and he tends to use the

word dumb. i hate to point this out, but against black people, he did with don lemon. he's done it with others so had a problem with women. he tends to characterize women as crazy and as nasty and so on limit, just say all of that is dumb okay. from a political standpoint, that is a dumb way to approach kamala harris because she's palpably not. and every time she goes out now people see he she's a formidable person the san francisco liberal thing is where they're ultimately going to go. i'm not sure his team is all that happy to have him go out there and caricature her and demean hur in the way that he is as he goes with women, that they weren't supposed to go after her, but only what she has done. right. yeah. well, hasn't read the talking points or it's hard to contain him to talking points but she has to combat that the truth of the matter is that she's been a and of center-left politician

for her her career. it's interesting that she's leaning into her work as a prosecutor, as an attorney general. i think you're going to see he more of that because this really is going to be a battle for the middle and among independent voters. and i think it's clear that her campaign understands that, but they're going to have to fight back against what you heard from senator that are cotton. let me just say one thing and it just because i haven't been trolled on social media yet today, i let me throw a log on the fire. i heard my really dear friend and she is congresswoman schakowsky leaning into i'm so excited. this is a historic thing. a black woman and so on. you don't hear kamala harris saying that and she's smart not to she's not running to be the first black woman president. she's running to be president of the united states and she thinks she's the best qualified and the most representative of this country as a whole and that's how she should run. and that's how people should talk about her

the biden administration, the u.s. government, could be using more of the levers at our disposal because all to achieve the goals that the biden-harris administration has set out. both with respect to limiting civilian casualties in gaza making sure more humanitarian assistance can reach the people in gaza. and very importantly, on the west bank where the retiring israeli idf, general in charge of that area has indicated that extremist settler violence and the seizure of palestinian lands on the west bank is undermining the security of israel and violates the values of israel. i agree with general folks who made that comment, and i i think that the biden-harris administration should continue to focus on applying sanctions to those who are committing those violent acts, violent extremist settlers on the west

bank do you want to see difference a day light, a change with vice president harris at the top of the ticket on policy toward israel look, i respect whatever decisions vice president harris makes on this particular issue. >> i will continue to press the points that i have been making including the ones i just made with you. i think the most important thing right now is just to continue to press for two things. one the creation of a two-state solution. this has been the biden administration's policy. it's been a bible partisan policy. the united states to create some light at the end of this dark tunnel and a couple that with the normalization agreement between saudi arabia and israel which would greatly strengthened israel's security. while we allow self-determination for the palestinian people. so that is what i hope the focus beyond, you have over the course of

not from something that she necessarily did, but it was the brat memes that were suddenly the everywhere you can avoid them. explain how this caught on with gen z voters so quickly good morning and thanks for having me sara, i think it's such an exciting time, right? >> do something as the hub for young people and their activism and service. and what we can say is that we've seen a stark difference in gen z voters right before earlier this year. what we heard them say is only about 21% of them were excited about participating in this election. and of course, our work is to get gen-z to turn out to vote. and what we're seeing now is that young people are excited as you just mentioned, that you go coal, we're seeing the same thing with our members gen z voters are ready to come out there, ready to vote, and they're energized about what's at stake in this election in new and exciting ways. and the numbers are in their favor, right? so when you think about gen z and millennial voters, they make up about 49% of the electorate this year. if they all register and turnout to vote, there's 40, almost 41 million new

members of gen z we are eligible. and as you noted, they are focused on social media. that's where they're getting their news from there, really thinking about memes and how they can engage of cool, easy breeze, but also getting things done is the epitome of what's gonna be at stake from now until the election day there's always a lot of talk in every election about young voters and they don't tend to come out like the older voters. >> what do you think we'll get them there? how many of them can cast their ballots? now it's i mean, that's the crux of the matter and i often talk about the importance of gen z and millennials for that matter are going to play in this election cycle like i mentioned, there are 41 million new eligible gen z voters, just 8.3 this year alone. and if they turn out at the rates that they did in 2020, the last presidential election, they're going to make up about 37% of the electorate. that's nothing to sneeze at, especially when you think about the fact that they are, they think about

issues intersectional they care passionately about climate and sustainability, about health care and reproductive justice. in particular, they care about mental health access. they care about educational equity and why there's full leaders are banning books and why they're taken away access to information. and this is a generation that cares passionately about their safety and well-being and the pervasive threat of gun violence in our community and so what i'd say is in this election, what it's going to come down to, what it's going to motivate people to turn out to vote is making sure that the candidates are talking authentically, whether that's on social media or in-person about the issues that matter most to gen z voters just quickly here what are some mistakes that can be made by campaigns when trying to use social media to lure new voters listen gen z is amazing in that they can see through the nonsense, right? so they know when you're putting online inauthentic means when you're not speaking in your first person self. and so my advice to all the candidates campaign
