10:05 am
what, you know, that she had with the former or with the president, excuse me. but this is a new ticket. this is a new day for the democratic party and they need to get out there and get in front of the messaging and they need to make sure that folks know what their vision is moving forward. >> there's now a new line that jd vance is using. of course, you have two veterans, right? who are the running mates here and he's using this line about walz is military service. let's listen when united states of america asked me to go to iraq to serve my country, i did it. i did what they asked me to do it and i did honorably and i'm very proud of that service when tim waltz was asked by his country to go to iraq, you know what he did. he dropped out of the army and allowed his unit to go without him a fact that he's been criticized for aggressively by a lot of the people that he served with i think it's shameful to prepare your unit to go to iraq to make a promise that you're going to follow through and then to drop out right before you actually have to go. he said we shouldn't allow weapons that i used in war to be on america's streets
10:06 am
well, i wonder tim waltz. when were you ever in war? when was this? was this weapon that you carried into war given that you abandoned your unit right before they went to iraq. and he has not spent a day in a combat zone. what bothers me about tim waltz is the stolen valor garbage do not pretend to be something that you're not i wonder what you think about that matt. there look, there are some questions. the question of the weapons comment we should also mention there's a reporting the jd vance did not see combat in his role. i would argue it doesn't matter. they both served. but what do you think about this kind of getting some swift boat vibes here, we'll look, it's potentially very effective line of attack when

10:17 am
>> many of them have installed thousands of windows. >> i mean, talk about mastering something. >> if the homeowner has an issue it has to chase down different contracts, isn't companies they get stuck in the blame game and that's the worst, right? the manufacturer points to the installer. >> the installer points to the manufacturer with us, there is no blame game or finger-pointing because we managed the whole process from consultation to installation. >> and you don't do estimates, know we do something better, will come out accession. >> your current windows and doors and leave you with an exact price that's good for an entire year. nice, no pressure. >> today's homeowner, a trusted home improvement resource for over 35 years. name it's a renewal by anderson, the top pick for replacement window companies were proud of that owe. and here's this month discount. its renewal by anderson's 31 day sales event, by one window patio door or entry door, and get the next one, 40% off with a minimum purchase of four plus save an extra 45 i've dollars off every window and door with no money down, no monthly

10:19 am
strings that attached as much as i love my job but they did was radicalized and wesley bell is joining us now. mr. bell, thank you for joining us after your big night. i should mentioned you are favored for the general election and of note, in this race, the issue is really didn't come down to gaza, israel, but the money shore did progressives, of course, usually a skew that kind of outside money. so as a self-described progressive, how are you reflecting on your win considering that? >> well, you know, first of all, i want to thank all of the supporters and staffers and just so many folks that got us through the finish line. but this race on the ground wasn't
10:20 am
about who was funding, who and negative ads, this race was about the the issues that matter to the folks right here in this district. and i sat on polls all day and the hottest day of the year i might add if folks were continually coming to me and saying, hey, i saw the ads, whatever we want to know what you're going to do for us. and as the former ferguson city councilman, as the current st. louis county da folks around here know what they're going to get from me. they know i'm going to show up. they know i'm going to represent the interests of this district and that's ultimately what brought this wind home for us so what what issue then? >> do you think it really came down to between you and the congress want woman i think it's about priorities and i think that her priority seem to be more about things that are outside of this district, as opposed to things that matter
10:21 am
to folks that matter to folks so in this district we have we have really serious issues here. the number one killer of young black boys in this district is gun violence. and that's not okay with me. we have to push for common sense gun safety laws in missouri. we have the most archaic abortion laws in the state. women have absolutely no autonomy over their body and it's important that we codified roe versus wade we have health care and food deserts in this region. this region has been dying a slow death, losing population around the metropolitan area. and those are the things that matter to every day. hey, folks in this region i mean, those were also issues she focused on as well. >> do you think that the outside money played no role in this no, i'm not going to say money didn't play a role, but on from both sides, there were there were attacks made for and against.
10:22 am
>> there's no one in this district that wasn't aware of both of our positions. the difference is is that the congresswoman's message was based on division and our message was based on a vision for this region and how to move this region forward. and so at the end of the day, folks, voters are more savvy than we give them credit for. they care about what we're going to do for them. and they know i've been an elected official now here for ten years. yes so folks know me, they know that i'm a progressive prosecutor and they know i'm going to be a progressive member of congress. and what we're going to get things done and get results for the folks in this district. >> now, onto the general. and as i said, you are favored, but in a statement about their spending in your race, aipac said, apex grassroots members are proud to support strong pro israel progressive democrats like wesley bell. do you consider yourself a zionist?
10:23 am
>> here's the thing. i believe it's important for us to stand with our allies if we want to avoid broader scale wars. that is what history has taught us that it's important that we are reliable partners to our reliable partners at the end of the day we don't want to see one innocent israeli or innocent palestinian harmed i hope to be a part of the coalition that helps to bring a lasting peace to that region. but these are the national narratives, the folks at home in this district, they're worried about jobs and job opportunities there. they're worried about public safety 50, they're worried about health care. and so yeah, i know that that's something that plays around the clock. >> but this narrative, 8 million in outside money into your race and your coming here to washington and do you dc the nation's capital. do you believe in israel's right to exist absolutely. >> israel has a right to exist. israel has a right to defend itself and we're going to
10:24 am
stand about that libor scientist is that, i mean, then to you, because that isn't won you? except when i asked you, is it do you see it as problematic? label? is it loaded? how do you see it when i see is, is that you're asking me about an issue and i'm an african-american man and i live in a predominantly african-american district and so we stand with our partners and we stand with our jewish brothers and sisters. >> we stand with israel's right to exist and we stand with all of our democratic partners, including ukraine, and we have a large bosnian community here. and if bosnia was ever to face any atrocities as they face before, we would stand with that them as well. so yes, we stand with our democratic partners we stand against terrorism, and we want to see a lasting peace in that region. and i think everyone feels that way i do
10:36 am
ounselor, you think it's fine. >> there were some minor problems that they think they understand, but again, i'm not in those meetings, so i'm sure they're looking at every contingency and colonel, when they were initially stuck in the first in second attempt to come home. there were also some concerns as well. all my gosh, what's happening. and one former astronaut we spoke to said, well, this could actually be a good thing in some cases to try and gather more data, to
10:37 am
10:39 am
probably plus or minus two hours from midnight tonight. >> it's kind of hard to tell where the center is because there's not really an eye, even the hurricane hunters are out there flying through it and they go left and they go right. they got was that it or was it over here a little bit more so? we're still seeing though the rainfall, the heaviest stuff up near myrtle beach and now into north carolina where the center comes on shore, doesn't mean that much right now because there's so much dry air in the middle that there's not convection around the middle,
10:40 am
there's not that wind speed around the middle. in fact, that 60 mile per hour gusts that they found that was well away from the center out in the atlantic. the good news is this begins to pick up speed and does it, it gets out of the northeast by the weekend and that's the good news because a lot of places in the northeast, especially new york city, in the bronx and manhattan, picked up enough rain yesterday for the entire month. so here's the rainfall that we've already seen from this everywhere that's purple ten inches of rain or more. and there are places that have picked up a foot, the half, and it's still raining and it's going to be raining for a while. we don't have the tornado watch today, like i thought maybe we have weather service sayings severe as storm prediction center is saying about a 20% chance of a tornado watch being issued. we'll see how that goes as the day goes on. there goes the rain here is friday into parts of pennsylvania, but the heavy rain is still going to be in the piedmont. it's still going to be in parts of north carolina, south carolina, and then all the way up into virginia. so we could still see more flooding even though it's winding down and it will make
10:41 am
landfall. and when it does, when the senate comes on shore, it will be a lesser storm again but this storm still has a rainfall punch. >> yes, it will be wet. chad myers. thank you so much all right. >> just add for us, russia says ukrainian forces just launched a massive cross-border attack. we're gonna tell you what we know about the assault and how the kremlin is responding. stay with us chasing life with dr. sanjay gupta. >> listen wherever you get your your podcasts. >> my babies as anna he's pretty good. she's like my grandma. she says go most only go skateboarding from babysitters to nannies to daycare centers, find all the care you need at care.com nature boy, was that burns get some mail, finch it gives seeds
10:42 am
to females in a bonding ritual you need new replacement windows, but you're just not sure if they're in the budget this year, right? i'm brian gary here with ted coons from renewal by anderson and he's here to talk about how to make window replacement more affordable. >> well first, bryan, you don't have to do them all. you could just replace your worst windows first or another way to make them affordable is to change the style of window. for example, you could do a gliding window instead of a casement. we have a lot of ways to make window projects really affordable. >> compared to other window companies, you have a completely different business model. >> yeah, with other companies, there's just too many people involved in the process. there's the manufacturer or the seller, and then the installer, and then the customer. and if you call with a problem that's when they say, oh, well, we're the manufacturer, you have to call the installer for that problem
10:43 am
or vice versa. we're the full service replacement window division of anderson with us. there's no passing the buck at renewal by anderson, we sell, build, install, and warrant our windows and patio doors. so if there's ever an issue, we take full responsibility for it. >> why don't you sell buying a windows it doesn't matter
10:45 am
e people that you care about are taking care of, create your state plan, that trust and we'll dot com side. are you on no forgotten to see me house of the dragon streaming exclusively on max we're looking at live pictures of vice president kamala harris and governor tim walz. and their arrival in eau claire with constant ahead of their second rally since harris announced her running mate
10:46 am
yesterday, there they are on the tarmac before they go on to this rally. and then they will go on to another rally later today in detroit, michigan, as they are looking to shore up votes in the blue wall states we'll keep an eye on this and we'll bring you more a potentially major turn in russia's war on ukraine. and ukrainian troops may have entered russia moscow is accusing ukraine of crossing the border into its kursk region and launching a quote, massive attack video shows a fighter jet over a road in kursk. you saw that right there. and if confirmed this this could amount to ukraine's most potent and far-reaching incursion into russia in the two-and-a-half years since russia's full-scale invasion, cnn's nick paton walsh is with us now with the latest nic. what is ukraine saying about
10:47 am
this? nothing at all, which is quite remarkable to be honest and that there is really no other candidate potentially for making an incursion like this from ukraine into russia. >> and it's been quiet far-reaching. we see one town, souza, which appears to have certainly ukrainian forces in it says described by its maire as quote, very tense, but still tentatively in russian control with evacuations, ongoing that's about 34 miles away from ukraine's border with suggestions that indeed he's ukraine forces have pushed further inside territory to a significant area under attack from yesterday as well. this building in its momentum russia's president vladimir putin saying this was a major provocation and accusing and ukraine of being indiscriminate and its fire against civilians. a bit rich coming from the kremlin, who'd been doing that to ukraine for over two years now, but his chief of staff, valery gerasimov has said quite clearly that they believe the advanced has been halted.
10:48 am
that's not really what we're hearing from local officials. there who are helping people evacuate from that area and generally, i think trying to get a grip on what's happening with extra reinforcements to teams rushing in that direction. so unclear entirely what ukraine strategic jake goal was here. they've certainly caught russia off-guard

play from the boeing factory without those four critical door plug bolts, boeing now says the door plug was removed some time on september 18, 2023, then the door plug was replaced because of work nearby on the fuselage, on some nearby rivets the next day on september 19, 2023. >> now, under questioning here from ntsb investigators, elizabeth lund, who's boeing's head of quality control at boeing's, still well does not fully know who was responsible for closing the door plug without the critical bolts, and that earned this response from ntsb chair jennifer for how monday listen the name of individuals or individual is not important to the ntsb how this happened how this occurred, because it could have been anybody.
10:56 am
>> right. how did that happen? we have not been able to accurately nail down because you saw at the beginning where we had a graphic which showed at some, at this point, we knew it was open at this point we knew it was closed. what happened on the in-between? we don't know and neither do that that's a problem boeing also laid out new changes here that they're making to the door plug, including the design they make it harder to hello those without the door plug bolts in place. also, an alarm in the cockpit for pilots to see if the door plug suddenly becomes open. it's not fully latch and some things are really simple like the tag that they're placing on the door plug while the airplane is still in the factory, it says in blue and yellow letters do not open without talking to somebody and boeing quality the controlled boeing trying to take this very seriously, but really taking it on the chin here, omar and a rear multi-day hearing that
