chair will now entertain requests for one-minute speeches. for what purpose does the gentlewoman from iowa seek recognition? mrs. miller-meeks: i ask unanimous consent to address the house for one minute. revise and extend my remarks. the speaker pro tempore: the gentlewoman is recognized for one minute. mrs. miller-meeks: thank you, mr. speaker. today i rise to honor a local hero who selfless act exemplifies the very essence of courage and sacrifice. this man, an immigrant from ethiopia, who settled in iowa seven years ago displayed re remarkable bravery when he risk his life to save and 8-year-old boy from drowning in 202t without hesitation, who worked as a custodial work at the high school, leaped into action and jumped into the full iowa river when he saw the boy in danger. his quick and decisive response underscores the true nature of heroism. tragically, he lost his life in the process, but his heroism did not go unnoticed.
