[indiscernible conversations]
6:01 pm
>> c-span.org -- >> [indiscernible] they are working as quickly as they possibly can. i know our state chairs are as well. if i could have the awards committee come to the front when they are ready. we are going to do a presentation and awards. continue to stand at ease. awards committee is coming up. we are not going to do promotions while we are still balloting, actually. i'm sorry.
6:02 pm
[indiscernible conversations]
6:03 pm
6:04 pm
6:05 pm
>> hi, everyone. please find your seats unless you are a state chair ready to turn in ballots. if you are still balloting, continue what you are doing, but everyone else, please lower your voices and come back to your seats. thank you all so much. we are about to get started with awards. i would like to introduce the awards committee. dr. jim lark, thank you. [applause] >> thank you, madam chair.
6:06 pm
my name is jim lark, delegate from virginia, and i have the honor of serving as the chair of the 2020 for awards committee -- 2024 awards committee. i would like to thank my colleagues for all the work they put in. there was a great deal of effort that they went into, and i greatly appreciate all the time and trouble that they invested. i would also like to thank matt hudson and pat kennedy of the lp staff, who work very helpful in our efforts. particularly, i would like to thank all of you who provided nominations for these awards. thanks to all of you who tendered nominations. because of time, we will need to whip through this reasonably quickly. we have presented these screens, which i will advance, assuming this works properly, and heavens to betsy it does. there are five libertarian party
6:07 pm
awards as well as the whole of liberty. screens will provide information, the name of the award, information about the award. we will then advance to the next screen concerning that award and provide a list of previous recipients. finally, the third screen associated will provide the name of the 2024 recipient. we will go through those five awards and go through the hall of liberty. we will not ask the recipients to come onstage straight away. we will ask them to gather stage right because we don't want them having to take the time to come from the back of the hall here. we will ask them to gather stage right as we go through the five awards in the hall of liberty and we will bring them out en masse to receive their awards. i suggest if you would, please hold your applause until the end. if you will excuse me, i will put through this. you can see the samuel adams activism award for effective
6:08 pm
happen -- activism for building party membership, and the like. our previous award members, you can see a very nice list of distinguished libertarians. i will pause so you can pay tribute to them. [applause] and then the adams activism award recipient for 2024 -- is mr. martin mann tony -- mr. martin montoni. [applause] again, we will ask all the recipients to gather over there and come out in one large, wonderful group. the thomas paine communication award is in recognition of outstanding communication of our ideas and values.
6:09 pm
previous communication awards recipients you see. and then the paine award recipient for 2024. [cheers and applause] i wish you were a little more enthusiastic about mr. cohen's award. [laughter] the next award is the benjamin franklin candidate award. this is one that was more
6:10 pm
recently established to recognize effective campaigns at the local level and to recognize those who did a wonderful job of communicating libertarian ideas, principles, and values. our previous recipients are as follows. [applause] and the 2024 franklin candidate award recipient. [cheers and applause] the patrick henry candidate award provides recognition of campaigns at the federal level, again, while communicating well the ideas of libertarianism, our
6:11 pm
principles, and values. previous recipients are as follows. [applause] and the henry candidate award recipient for 2024. [cheers and applause] the thomas jefferson leadership award is for recognition of outstanding leadership, great character, and dedication to the principles and goals of the libertarian party. previous recipients are as follows. [applause]
6:12 pm
and the 2024 jefferson leadership award recipient, dr. jo jorgensen. [cheers and applause] before we advance to the hall of liberty awards, let me note that the committee had a very difficult time deciding among many splendid nominees. in fact, one of the great joys of being the chair of this committee and being on the committee is we were informed about so many great libertarians who are doing great stuff. i suspect many of those who were nominees this time around who were not named, we will be seeing them in the very near future. [applause]
6:13 pm
the hall of liberty was established in 2012 by the libertarian national committee. as you will note, it honors significant achievement that has been made in terms of a lasting effect on the party as well as the libertarian movement. this differs from the original jefferson award, which was for lifetime achievement. in 2012, there was a change to bring about the whole of liberty, which broadens the type of contributions to the libertarian movement, not just the libertarian party. so far, 19 libertarians have been inducted into the hall of liberty, and they are as follows. [applause] we had three inductees this
6:14 pm
year. they are in no particular order -- well, actually in a particular order, by alphabetical order by surname, [reading names] [cheers and applause] you can read of some of steve's accomplishments. i will paused for a moment so you can view these accomplishments again. by the way, with all of these inductees, we could only put a very small amount of information. they deserve vastly more. we simply did not have the room for them. their accomplishments are truly impressive.
6:15 pm
lawrence read. [cheers and applause] and jim turney. [cheers and applause] ladies and gentlemen, will you please present a round of applause for all of the award recipients and hall of liberty inductees? [applause] >> [indiscernible] [cheers and applause]
6:16 pm
spike cohen. chase oliver. jo jorgensen. courts hold it. >> oh, thank you. >> would you like to present me? >> steve dasbach. and jim turney. [cheers and applause] larry reed is not here at the convention. we will make sure he receives his award. again, thanks to all of you for your contributions to liberty. thanks to you who provided us with so many wonderful nominees
6:17 pm
again. [applause] thank you. [indiscernible chatter] >> [indiscernible] >> ok, microphone 4. >> yes, i would like to make a motion that during the next tallying period, we begin nominations for at large allowing 90-second speeches by each one. >> second! quick subjection! >> thank you. >> scotty bowman michigan. >> scotty bowman, michigan, wants 90-second speeches and at
6:18 pm
large. let's get our screen back up. just a second, mr. bowman. there with us one second. i was about to inquire about the status of the vote. are our tellers still counting ballots? everything is in. oh, they are finished. [cheers and applause] all right. av team, could we please have our screens back for our secretary if she is ready? she is ready.
6:19 pm
ok, and then we are going to pick back up with mr. bowman's motion. ok, we are on our presidential ballot.
6:20 pm
i'll ride, we are at the end of the states. -- all right, we are at the end of the states. let's go to our vote totals. chase oliver at 25.36%. michael at 35.17%. [applause] josh smith at 4.96%. mike at 18.19%. [cheers and applause] thank you very much.
6:21 pm
we are going to our vice chair vote totals now. av, could you please pop off the screen for just one moment? thank you so much. we are making sure we are on the right screen before we do a reveal, and we are ready. all right, secretary, when you are ready, please scroll. we are on the vice chair vote totals.
6:22 pm
state chair checking your state totals. all right, we are almost at the end. all right, thank you, madam secretary. we are ready for the final vote when you are ready, the vote totals. [cheers and applause]
6:23 pm
congratulations to mr. rutherford. he is going to be the new vice chair. all right. when everyone is ready, we're going to go to secretary. let's go to secretary. all right, i know we are excited over vice chair, but let's watch secretary. sec. is going to begin slowly.
6:24 pm
state chairs, please be watching.
6:25 pm
when you are ready, madam secretary, we will go to the vote totals. rhode island. rhode island, very good catch. very good catch. >> they are checking. >> tellers are going to check. tellers will check. go catch. stand at disease. -- stand at dis-ease. [laughter]
6:26 pm
have you rectified?
6:27 pm
was that a scriveners error? thank you. if you are ready, let's go to the vote totals. [cheers and applause] congratulations. she will be our secretary for another term. thank you, everyone. for those who are watching -- [reading names] all right, now, i believe we have a motion at microphone 4
6:28 pm
regarding at large -- oh, i'm so sorry. we are jumping the treasurer. my apologies. all right, we are going to treasurer. yes, our secretary will scroll. state chairs, please be watching.
6:29 pm
all right. we are going to take a look at the vote totals. [cheers and applause] all right, now we are back to our motion. at microphone 4 regarding the at large ballot.
6:30 pm
>> i'm going to restate the motion slightly different. i move that we go to at large elections with one-minute speeches. >> seconded! >> nominations. >> i believe we are going to move to suspend the rules, is that what you said? >> yes, if suspension of the rules is necessary, i will insert that. >> those are at-large nominations with one-minute speeches. we are going to vote on it and then you guys are going to make the call, right? we will try to do it very quickly. >> during the counting of the remaining elections. >> during the counting of --
6:31 pm
>> the remaining elections. so we are not stepping on vice president or how many ballots we need for president. >> we are still on president. during the counting of -- >> during tallying breaks. >> we will figure out the wording. i see what you are trying to -- >> thank you. move to suspend the rules to go to the at large nominations with one minute speeches during the tallying of presidential race round four and any other tallying. >> and after vp. >> would that include -- ok. this is getting a little messy. >> let's go to nominations before vp.
6:32 pm
>> got to you. understood. just doing nominations. i believe the idea is that we want to hear people, we want people to turn in their nomination papers first. i believe you have to have 15 votes on a nomination paper and then you will do a one minute speech while we are tallying the presidential race round four and may be any other tallying. this is a suspension of the rules so it is not debatable. all in favor, please say aye. all opposed. the motion does not have two thirds and fails. >> request for standing chair. >> sorry, it doesn't have two thirds. so. >> met them chair. microphone two. >> i moved to suspend the rules to permit the newly elected vice chair to give a two minute
6:33 pm
acceptance speech. >> does not have a second? -- does that have a second? ok. it needs a two thirds vote. not debatable. all in favor. all opposed. ok. moving right along. you need another ballot for our presidential elections. microphone two. microphone two. can the choir sing before we get too hungry? let me get the tallying situation or the bodily thing -- balloting situation going. >> you said choir. >> gotcha. ok. tyler's, where are we out on presidential ballots? are we ready?
6:34 pm
all right. we are starting your next round of balloting for the presidential candidates. it is 6:30 p.m. do we want to stay until we are done? be thinking about it. i am your hostage but i'm also holding you hostage. we will get through it. >> who are you working with? who are you here with?
6:35 pm
>> microphone three. >> how many at large candidates there may be from the paperwork turned in? >> that would be a wonderful idea. some great information to know. one moment please. i will give you an idea. i will go -- our secretary will find out.
6:36 pm
>> one moment. i will put that right back up on the screen.
6:37 pm
[indiscernible chatter]
6:38 pm
x i'm trying to make a motion. is a motion in order at this time? >> it is not. >> thank you.
6:39 pm
>> we will have 23 at large candidates right now. our secretary is putting the presidential candidates up on the screen. i want to make a reminder to anybody who didn't get their paperwork in, you need to get your paperwork in now. get your nominating paperwork in. 25 people running for at large. that would mean 25 minutes worth of nominations.
6:40 pm
[indiscernible chatter]
6:41 pm
6:42 pm
6:43 pm
[indiscernible chatter]
6:44 pm
6:45 pm
6:46 pm
>> madam chair. i thank you i guess. i wanted to say thank you to the people who put together the memorial video. >> thank you guys. thank you. >> i'm from illinois. [indiscernible chatter]
6:47 pm
>> microphone two. not microphone three?
6:48 pm
microphone two? i wanted to congratulate all the women who brought their children to the libertarian national convention. we waited and waited for you ladies to come and we are so happy to welcome you and your children here. thank you told the delegates who put their leadership behind our larger family and supported us through this. thank you very much. thank you to everyone who brought their kids. >> microphone one. madam chairman. the delegate from orange county, california. >> i would like to make a motion in the interest of time. >> we can't do a motion while we are balloting. we need to wait a little bit longer. i hate to do it to you but you need to hover around the microphone so it gets a little less crazy.
6:49 pm
no one is going to hear you. can you please -- ok. i want to recognize. >> microphone two. >> for those of you who are hungry and have a good -- have voted, georgia has more peaches near microphone two. come get a snack. >> thanks georgia for offering peaches and southern hospitality. i'm working on getting something for our tellers. the rest of you, if you want to get delivery, i would not blame you.
6:50 pm
we need to keep as many people in the room as possible so please don't run off. but that is the situation right now. announcement at microphone three. i will ask everybody wait on announcements for two minutes so i can finish an urgent thing i'm trying to do for our tellers. thank you. [indiscernible chatter]
6:51 pm
>> microphone three. >> the ladies of liberty alliance is hosting ladies night tonight in the hospitality suite at 8:30-10:30. we would like to invite you to enjoy champagne, refreshment and music with the ladies of liberty alliance. >> hello? >> could i please see jerry. kendall, and larry on the side of the stage.
6:52 pm
[indiscernible chatter]
6:53 pm
[indiscernible chatter]
6:54 pm
>> every state received their ballots. looks like we are counting. >> less people than you think. [indiscernible chatter] >> all right. i believe most states have turned in their ballots. the great state of texas is still balloting.
6:55 pm
if everyone could please make their way to their seats. [indiscernible chatter] >> madam chair, announcement from microphone two. >> we will come back to his
6:56 pm
motion. >> from texas, i want to extend and exit -- an invitation from states of -- east of the mississippi. >> we can't hear you. everyone, please be quiet. >> i am from texas. i started a discourse for i.t. professionals in serving libertarian party so we could share our knowledge and support for each other. if you have not been contacted by me yet, please come and visit me in texas and i will help you get an invite to this so we can share our knowledge and learning and support each other with technical questions and get the party going. >> thank you. where are you? >> if you left -- he left the microphone and i don't see him anywhere. >> i know what he was going to
6:57 pm
do. >> ok. are you trying to do that for him? >> not necessarily. i was hoping we would find him. >> thank you. all right. i don't believe we have any pending motions. >> madam chair, microphone one. >> could you speak up a little? >> madam chair, microphone one. >> if everybody could quiet down a little bit, microphone one. >> i am mark from colorado. can we have the audience shout out to the whole world what taxation is? >> i'm sorry. it was a little unclear so i want everybody to be very quiet. what is taxation? fantastic. if there is no other pending
6:58 pm
motion or business -- >> madam chair, microphone three. >> microphone three and then we are coming back to one. >> madam chair, jacob from colorado. i moved to amend the agenda and insert the vice presidential nomination immediately following the election of president. this way we can have a complete ticket by the end of convention that clearly demonstrates the will of the delegates. thank you. >> all right. please stay where you are at because i will need you to restate that for the secretary in a moment. >> all right. [indiscernible chatter]
6:59 pm
>> could you please restate your motion? >> yes, madam chair. i moved to amend the agenda and insert the vice presidential nomination following the election of the president so we can have a complete ticket by the end of the convention that clearly demonstrates the will of the delegates. this would imply that we would open the floor for nominations for vice president right now.
7:00 pm
>> ok. one second. there was a motion for the at large election. that failed, right? . so vice presidential nominations are the next item on the agenda. at large, it is last. you would have to change over -- >> madam chair, the vote for at large is to be next passed by voice vote. >> ok. does everyone understand what is on the agenda? ok. there is confusion on our agenda. because things have been moved around. people are tired. and we are on one of our ballots come i don't know which one we
7:01 pm
are on. bear with us, we need to get the actual agenda on the screen and our secretary is looking up another parliamentary every so we have a lot going on. here we are. nominations and elections for president and vice president. >> that is not correct. the election of party officers and -- is on the agenda first. there was a motion earlier to amend the agenda to move president only >> ok. >> under the orders of the day -- >> one second. they are thinking this was amended so i'm looking at the motions that have been passed.
7:02 pm
ok. the rules were suspended earlier to do just officers simultaneously with potus, just officers. that would bring us back to vice presidential nomination. >> modem chair, we have to do all of the party officers and at-large members. that is what is on the agenda. >> that would be fine but i don't believe that was on the agenda. >> it was absolutely on the adopted agenda. >> who made the motion? >> point of order. microphone two. >> microphone two. >> i believe the member speaking with you has not been recognized at all, he merely interrupted what you were saying to give his arguments. i believe you should rule him, at least this conversation -- >> madam chair -- >> i call for orders of the day -- >> of -- the at large motion did
7:03 pm
not pass. we did take a vote on it. >> that motion was -- >> start doing nominations -- >> we are not recognized. we need to move through. the motion is technically not in order because it is orders of the day. >> madam chair, this is an additional problem that the delegates should consider which is that -- >> can you speak up? >> sure. is this better? >> is this a point of order or inquiry? >> parliamentary inquiry perhaps. if we were to coach avp right away with that interfere with rule seven, paragraph four which is that the presidential nominee , whoever he is, gets to make a recommendation to the delegates as to who he or she would like to run with? >> ok. >> keep that in mind. >> thank you. i believe we have some vote result. >> point of order, madam chair.
7:04 pm
microphone three. >> there were two votes for the at large motion. one was for 90 seconds, one was for one minute. the 92nd motion failed. the one minute motion passed. >> ok. our secretary doesn't have it but we will double check. i do not personally care which order we do this in. we will do it in the order we voted on. we can re-vote it. >> it was just president and only -- >> ok.
7:05 pm
what are your vote totals? one second. mr. bowman's motion did not intend to go for potus. that was a discussion we had. >> he is saying -- >> how did he vote?
7:06 pm
>> will you turn off the secretary's for just a moment? thank you so much. all right. screens can come back on for the secretary please. beautiful. here is our most recent round of balloting. state chairs, we have your presidential vote tallies on the screen. pull your attention to the screen. we are checking vote tallies.
7:07 pm
all right. we are scrolling. please stay attention. -- please pay attention. we are almost to the end. [indiscernible chatter]
7:08 pm
we are at the end. madam secretary, when you are ready we will see the vote totals. all right. here we are. lars mapstead, 15.60%. chase oliver. michael rectenwald. mike ter maat. thank you, gentlemen. our secretary will consult with the tellers. looks like we are going to a fifth round.
7:09 pm
[indiscernible chatter]
7:10 pm
[indiscernible chatter] >> thank you. there he is. our tellers need 10 uninterrupted minutes to get these packages. guys? i need your attention for a minute. all right. our tellers need 10
7:11 pm
uninterrupted minutes. please do not bother them. i don't think we should do nominations for anything while this is going on. i think they should be completely focused on that. would you like to hear from mike for 10 minutes? >> i would like to clarify what we go to next after that. at large, correct? >> we are clarifying that right now. i will address your point of order when he is done. >> madam chair. microphone one. >> microphone one. >> mark from colorado. the same 6-8 individuals have had the vast majority of the microphone time over the last couple days. can you make sure that we recognize people in a rotating basis, and when they are at the
7:12 pm
microphone and they ask something or make a motion, ask them to sit down and let other people have a turn at the mic? >> microphone two. >> i have a point -- >> microphone four. >> point of information. >> point of information. request for information. >> microphone three. >> microphone three or four? i thought i heard microphone four. three in the back. >> thank you, madam chair. i wanted to point out that if we start the vice presidential collection before we have our presidential nominee, if some of the candidates what -- >> we already address that. >> -- wouldn't make sense if we -- >> we have already addressed that. thank you. >> microphone two.
7:13 pm
>> anymore points -- >> microphone two. >> no one else is recognized for 10 minutes. we will get things together and go forward with business. >> how is everyone doing? [applause] i hate to briefly interrupt. that seems like a tremendous amount of fun so i apologize in dance. i just wanted to take a moment to thank you for being part of this. this is something, four years ago this party granted to me the second greatest honor of my life. the first greatest was when my wife to be said i do in front of me, a pastor, a rabbi on several hundred witnesses, proving it wasn't just a phase. but the second greatest honor of
7:14 pm
my life was been told -- bestowed upon me when you nominated me to be your vice presidential candidate. i haven't stopped fighting to spread liberty since i hope i'm serving you well. i hope i'm doing you proud. two years ago in reno, i stood in front of you, not in reno but like this, and i encouraged everyone that no matter who won and no matter who lost, we stopped trying to create a duopoly within the party, that we drop the fighting between the elections and we work together to fight for liberty. as we all know, that is exactly what happened. thank you. that is the funniest thing you will hear today. listen, guys. this is a crucial moment for the libertarian party. yes, we are picking our leadership and we are picking our candidates for 2024 but it
7:15 pm
is more than that. we are entering -- answering some existential questions. what is the purpose of the libertarian party? what is the future of the libertarian party? we have a future? i believe we do have a future. i will go further. i believe we have to have a future because we are the only ones who understand this. we are the only ones who get it. there isn't a single other candidate or political party in this country who understands the real problem america is facing. even with the best of intentions they may have, if you don't understand the problem, you are only going to make it worse. we are necessary. as some of you may have heard, donald trump spoke to our delegates last night. i don't know if you caught that. he made a lot of promises that were promises of things we like.
7:16 pm
he also said a lot of things we didn't like but you let him know that. one of the biggest promises he made in my mind was to free ross ulbricht and i'm glad that happened. even if he didn't actually do it, he brought it into the mainstream which means it is more likely to happen. if there was only some way for us to know what donald trump would actually do if he were to actually get elected president. my goodness. when he promises to drain the swamp, it if only there was some way we could know if he would do that or if he would make it bigger or more powerful, more costly than ever before. you know, we. -- hypothetically. if only when he promises to fight the deep state we had a way of knowing if he meant that or if he meant was he would stand side-by-side with him
7:17 pm
while they told us 15 days spread and then told us 30 days, and for the next several months complain about felty while simultaneously -- fauci while simultaneously forcing states into lockdown and censoring all of us. you know, hypothetically. if only one he promises to protect our right to keep and bear arms, we had some way of knowing if he would actually do that or instead, say take the guns first, due process later, support red flag laws and in stock -- and bump stock bands because the liberal media scared him into doing it. if only when he says he will get washington financial mess under control, what he meant was he would sign the largest spending bills in history even to this
7:18 pm
day, passing on massive inflation to us and the future -- to future generations until debt with interest to have to pay off. if only when he says america first we had some way of knowing if he meant that or if he meant the government first and the military-industrial complex second and big pharma third and the israeli government fourth and the saudi arabian government fifth and the american people long after that. you know, hypothetically. lesson. in 2016 donald trump ran on three promises libertarians like. he would drain the swamp, eliminate the national debt and lock hillary clinton. we are in the swamp now and it is murkier than ever. it grew by leaps and bounds under donald trump. not only did he not eliminate the national debt, he ran up h trillion dollars of debt come
7:19 pm
almost beating barack obama's debt record. he did it in one term. as you know, instead of locking her up he locked us down. that is what this party is up against. as you may know, the day before bobby kennedy came here and spoke to us. his speech went a little better, but i'm glad bobby kennedy is running. i'm glad he is running and i'm glad americans have as many choices as they can have to vote for. bobby said quite a few things we agree with. he has said gun rights groups are terrorist organizations. he said people who deny climate change should be prosecuted. he said the government should subsidize home mortgage prices and he said government funded colleges should use race-based quotas and a lot of things we disagree with but all of that
7:20 pm
pales in comparison to what he said to the caliph when you libertarian party convention this year -- california libertarian party convention this year where he called privatization of a sure sign of collapse is privatization of government run properties. i want to be clear about something. again, i'm glad bobby is running and i love a lot of what he says . bobby kennedy isn't a fellow traveler who happens to get it wrong on a few occasions. he is openly hostile to libertarianism and he gets it right on a few things. that is what we are up against. as you know, joe biden is also running. he may not know he is running for president, but joe biden is running for president. i put together this comprehensive list of bad things
7:21 pm
joe biden has done. i wanted to make sure i didn't miss anything. here we go. this will only take a moment. virtually every single thing joe biden has done in his entire life. there we go. that is compelling. a compelling argument. this is with the libertarian party is up against. there are other people running, jill stein and this unicorn lady and others. it is good these people are running in many are saying is that we like but i want to be clear about something. every single one of them, trump, kennedy, biden, all of them have the same thing in common. they think the problem with our government is that the wrong people are in charge doing the wrong things and once the right people are in charge doing the right things there is no limit to how big and intrusive they want it to be. we are the only ones who understand what the founders knew over 200 years ago. the problem with the government is the government.
7:22 pm
the government is a monopoly of authority, a self-imposed monopoly of authority that is financed with extortion and enforced with violence and threats of violence. it is a protection racket with a flag and a theme song. most of the founders understood that an organization like that has no real reason to do anything but waste your money, make your life harder, grandstand on your suffering and use it as an excuse to take even more money on power from you. that is why they recognize, most of them recognize that government was evil. they saw it as a necessary evil, but they thought it was evil nonetheless. that is why they sought to limit it to a small handful of duties and leave everything else to the states and more importantly to you, individuals, the people. those restrictions are fantastic
7:23 pm
as long as they are actually abided to end the problem is, they are not being abided to because our elected officials are not being expected to respect us as individual human beings and treat us as such. they don't see us as people who can live our lives better than any politicians or bureaucrats in d.c. or our state capitals. instead of letting us live our lives they keep getting government more and more out of our way. we are the only ones who understand the solution is to get government out of the way. there is a very interesting effort and it is not the first time this has happened, there was an interesting effort, hopefully might be the last but it may happen again, and effort to run and nominate an anti-libertarian candidate as the libertarian nominee with the idea that if we did it, we might get more votes and more attention. thank, josh just think, if we ran a candidate who is openly
7:24 pm
hostile to libertarianism we might qualify for the debates and millions of americans, not to mention millions around the world will get exposed to libertarianism for the first time from someone who is openly hostile to libertarianism. hear me out. not only that, we might even get 5%, giving us major party status, ensuring that in every single election cycle will be pressured to run an anti-liberty candidate to maintain our status and become an active detriment to the liberty movement. all we have to do to get this incredible deal is demonstrate to the american voter and to ourselves that we are worse than what we seek to replace. let's be clear, republicans and democrats usually hold out to actually win before they sell out. if we are willing to sell out our principles and run someone who is hostile to our ideas for the possible, the possibility of 5%, imagine what we would do to
7:25 pm
win. no. a libertarian party like that is a waste of every dollar, every penny and every second that has ever been spent on it. we will never do that again, right? good. that is right. we are not a last resort for the newest candidate who failed to get the republican or democratic nomination. never again. we are not that. we are not here for catchy slogans. we are not here for dubious promises and we are not here to be some squishy centrist party scared of its own shadow. we are here for a revolution. we are here to get the government out of the people's way. we are here to enter the irs and the fbi and the atf and the dea and the cdc and i'm pretty sure
7:26 pm
i already said the fbi but we will do it twice. and a slew of other agencies and departments. and of course we are going to end, we are here to end the federal reserve. i know how to get the airhorn. we are here, that's right, we are here to put america first by putting the american people first. we are here to end the endless wars and the endless occupations in the endless spending and the endless debt and inflation and regulatory creed and we are here to ensure stable -- there will never be another lockdown or mandate or any other regulatory agency power grab ever again. we are here to tell the american people one thing. we respect you. we know that you can lead your
7:27 pm
life far better than any swamp creature can and we will take the power out of their hands and put it back in yours where it belongs so you can live your life. we are here as the libertarian party to fight for a freer america. who is with us? [applause] >> you, spike cohen. we are almost done checking all of our schedule amendments. in the meantime, dan johnson, could you come up? we need you or a second. everybody hang tight and please be respectful. mics will stay off.
7:28 pm
dan, where are you from? south carolina? ok. north carolina. dan johnson from north carolina. if i could have everyone's most sincere attention and absolute deathly silence. very, very quiet because i have something really important to announce. thank you guys so much. >> at the 2018 new orleans convention, i met my current partner. sarah brady. the first two years we had
7:29 pm
several arguments because i was more of a right libertarian and she was a left libertarian but we came around on that. and we have had two beautiful children together, alexander isaac and leonidas valentine. and you always think a lot about what the right moment, who the right people are, who do you want around you when you make important life decisions? and you have had, really the only family i have ever had outside of my immediate family, is libertarian, you guys. and i don't know what that says about me, but we believe that to that. so i would like to call my beautiful partner sarah brady up
7:30 pm
to the stage, please. yes. the light of my life and actually smarter than me. if you could join me on stage, please. we have been together, we have been through hard times and good times together. and today, in front of all of our friends, i don't know if i can kneel and bring the microphone down. sarah brady.
7:31 pm
would you officially, publicly marry me? >> yes. [applause] >> all right. that was entirely in order. madam secretary, would you mind addressing us as far as where we are in business? we have three motions so let's catch up to where we are right now. >> this room is very echo-y.
7:32 pm
the misspellings will not be in the final. this is the agenda was originally amended, to do everything else first. we have a special order for saturday morning, to have the presidential debate. there was a motion to suspend the rules. there was another motion to have the chair debate. after the chair debate, there was another motion to interrupt the onc elections with only the presidential nomination so there would be somebody to be up there
7:33 pm
to oppose trump afterwards. then we moved to presidential. i moved part of the lnc to be mixed in while we were doing presidential. after untangling battle mass, -- that whole mess, we are not on vice presidential, we are on the remainder of the lnc. [indiscernible chatter] >> ok. i will make a short announcement and then we will maybe see what you want to do.
7:34 pm
we are still balloting. did it go? a note from our hotel. it is up to you how you choose to respond. i want to point out the longer you wait, the worse of -- the worst quality of food there will be. we can pre-plate 200 plates of -- can't re-plate 200 plates of food. the business we are doing is important but i also think it is my duty as your chair to inform you that we have 200 plates of food for the gala and they aren't going to be able to re-plate 200 plates of food. they wanted me to pass that along so i'm doing that for you. it is up to you. we have business to attend to. we have several different paths forward and i'm open to hearing how you would like to address it.
7:35 pm
all right. i believe we will be, we are going to be on at-large elections. but we are still balloting. i believe, where were -- where are we act on balloting? let's find out. [indiscernible chatter]
7:36 pm
>> can we please have floor mics back please? >> i seek recognition at microphone two. adam chair i am requesting that
7:37 pm
we indulge the libertarian party choir for five minutes and only five minutes. >> we will wait until it is an appropriate time so you will be received positively. i promise i have you in mind. back there, microphone three. >> ray smith from pennsylvania. >> i can't hear microphone three. hang tight one second. >> madam chair? hello? >> can you speak up? thank you. >> delegate from pennsylvania, i moved to suspend the rules to amend the agenda to insert the vice presidential nomination immediately following the election for president so we can have a ticket by the end of convention. that will demonstrate the will of the delegates. >> all right. >> madam chair. point of order.
7:38 pm
we already voted this down less than an hour ago. >> one second. >> modem chair. >> no, no. no one is recognized right now. av team, when you are ready and able could you get our secretaries screen backup? >> point of order, madam chair. point of order, madam chair. >> ok. that particular motion has not been made before so we does not out of order. the challenge was amending the agenda over and over again so it becomes difficult to keep track of. it has been moved and seconded. to suspend the rules so which is
7:39 pm
non-debatable, to go to the vpotus nomination before the at-large nomination. >> point of order, microphone four. >> hold on one second. let's make sure we have this right before we go to the point of order. we have the wording of the motion correct? mr. reese smith, is this correct? >> yes it is. madam chair. >> thank you. microphone four. >> ic ballots still out and i believe we aren't supposed to move on to business while ballots are out. >> fair enough. so we aren't going to vote on a motion while ballots are out. we will wait until all of the ballots are turned into the tellers. >> microphone four. i'm from south carolina. could the chair make sure
7:40 pm
everyone is aware if we at some point run out of time and we have not completed at-large elections, how are the vacancies filled and by who? >> vacancies according to the bylaws for at-large, are filled according to the lnc. vice presidential candidate is ambiguous in the bylaws. you could infer that is filled by the lnc. at-large is explicit, vice president is less explicit. >> thank you. >> microphone one. >> microphone one. >> is there any availability for this hall tomorrow morning? >> we have this physical space tomorrow morning. we do not have av but we have the physical space. >> lynch. microphone three. >> microphone three. >> my name is spelled reece.
7:41 pm
>> c as in cat. gotcha. still balloting but once we are done we will revisit mr. reece's ocean. >> madam chair. >> aaron star, california. i want to understand article 14. >> is this a point of order? >> perhaps a point of inquiry. not order at this time. i would like, article 14, section three, the second sentence reads two thirds of the entire membership of the national committee may at a meeting fill the vice presidential vacancy and if necessary a simultaneous presidential vacancy. i will -- want to know if your understanding, what your understanding is of that. >> let me read it. sorry.
7:42 pm
[indiscernible chatter] [indiscernible chatter]
7:43 pm
>> mr. star. i ending is that particular bylaw is talking about death or resignation. or disqualification, not finishing a meeting on time. >> my interpretation was different, there are two separate sentences there. my interpretation is that there are two separate sentences there
7:44 pm
and they each have separate meanings. >> my understanding is that the second sentence is referring immediately, referring to the sentence immediately prior to its. >> thank you for telling me your understanding. >> the good news is we are here right now. >> madam chair, microphone one. >> microphone one, point of information. >> i have been instructed to inform the body there is pizza at the colorado table. >> you were not instructed to inform the body, colorado? >> they have pizza at colorado. >> there you go. colorado.
7:45 pm
>> point of personal privilege, microphone three. >> madam chair, point of prison -- personal privilege, microphone three. >> microphone three. >> would it be possible to get a list of the at-larges that submitted paperwork on the screen? >> they haven't been nominated yet so i think we should probably do nominations first but i am amenable to making that happen as quickly as possible. >> can we move on with that? we have been doing it during balloting. >> is balloting finishing? do the tellers have all of the ballots? i think the tellers have all of
7:46 pm
the ballots and i think we will come back to mr. reece smith's motion. the tellers have all of the ballots. guy's, please return to your seats and pay attention. we have a motion on the floor. >> may i? >> mr. smith. if that is you asking, yes. if it does not, no you may not. all right. mr. smith moves to suspend the rules to go to the vpotus nomination before the at-large nominations and election. guys. are you aware of what we are about to vote on? it is not debatable. i needed everybody to read the motion on the screen and to lower your voices. lower your voices. last talking. all right.
7:47 pm
i need to know what we are going to do next. if you want to move to suspend the rules to go to vpotus nominations after potus is concluded before the at-large nominations and elections, please say aye. all those opposed. all right. not two thirds so we will do one standing vote and we will figure it out and move forward. all those who are in favor of suspending the rules to go to the vpotus nominations before at-large, vpotus next, stand. stay standing while we check you.
7:48 pm
please be seated. all those opposed, if you are opposed, stand up. the motion passes. >> appeal ruling of the chair. >> madam chair. >> second. >> call for division. >> division. >> division. >> we have 20. >> do we have 20 seconds? >> it was clear to forward bus on the stage -- two of us on the
7:49 pm
stage. >> point of information. microphone four. >> will do divisions. no, have 20 -- they have 20 people. it is fine. those who are in favor, please stand up. the motion is moved to suspend the rules to go to the vpotus nomination and election before the at-large nominations and elections. so if you are in favor of concluding the presidential nomination once that is done and then selecting your vice presidential nomination, you are standing right now. if you don't want to do that, if you want to do at-large and vice president last, you should be sitting. standing, do we want to count
7:50 pm
off? all right, we are going to count off. do we want me to jump off the floor and counter you? tellers are coming so hang tight. tellers, how do you want to do this? will you count state-by-state? ok. the tellers will count their zones. i don't want to see anyone walking in the aisles right now. if you are walking in the aisles you need to go immediately to the back of the room because you will not be counted. get to your state delegation immediately. everyone. delegate pin. thank you. complete silence for our tellers. please, let's get through this quickly. you may start.

7:59 pm
are you working on? thinking -- thank you so much. >> i seek recognition. weight. sorry. [indiscernible chatter]
8:00 pm
>> here we go. >> thank you, madam chair. currently we have 930 delegates checked in. that means a quorum is 372, a
8:01 pm
majority is 466, and two thirds is 620. [applause] 930 was the total delegates checked in, quorum is 372, a majority is 466, and two thirds is 620. >> madam chair, point of information, mic four. >> one moment. >> 814. >> point of information at microphone four. >> john philips, delegate from illinois. is it not corrected for all of these is the vote total of the people on the floor so these
8:02 pm
continue to delegate counts are unnecessary -- so these continued delegate counts are unnecessary? [applause] >> all right. i believe we have some election results. [applause] all right. yes. av team, can you please pull our secretary's screen off for a moment while she prepares? all right. we are ready for our sec.'s screen to return. all right.
8:03 pm
state chairs, please watch for your state's total. state chairs, please be watching for your state.
8:04 pm
[indiscernible chatter] all right. we are at the end of our states. when you are ready, madam secrety,e will see the vote total. all right. we have chase oliver at 32.7%, michael rectum all at 38 point -- and michael rechtenwald at
8:05 pm
38.39%, and mike ter maat at 25.86%. >> i believe it was me, madam chair. i move to open nominations for at large during the next tallying phase for the presidential election. >> second. >> ok. it has been moved and seconded to open nominations for at large during the next tallying of presidential votes. something like that? >> that's correct. >> thank you. >> point of order, madam chair, from mic two. i believe that is the orders of the day and does not require a motion. >> we have not been doing it so far. that's why i moved it. >> madam chair -- >> mr. nanna did something
8:06 pm
smart. >> microphone one. >> microphone one? >> your prior ruling that that standing vote failed, my question is this. was that a motion to amend something previously adopted because there's two ways to adopt that, two thirds of those who voted or the majority of all delegates. you need 466 of all registered delegates -- >> there's a motion on the floor . >> if this applies. i'm asking whether it's an either/or thing. >> on the vpotus motion? >> yes. >> i will ask.
8:07 pm
[indiscernible chatter] guy's, here is where we are at right now -- guys, here is where we are at right now. i'm checking on a parliamentary point of inquiry for mr. aaron stark and your state chairs are picking up your sixth round of balloting.
8:08 pm
so balloting is going to start. i will be addressing a point of parliamentary inquiry from mr. storm. [indiscernible chatter] >> point of information, madam chair.
8:09 pm
>> mr. aaron star? >> yes. >> can you please restate your point of inquiry? >> my point of inquiry is -- >> i know some of you are balloting and i want you to continue but for those of you who are just talking, please lower your voices to hear mr. starr discuss. >> on the motion where the -- >> point of order, madam chair. we should not consider business of any kind while balloting is occurring. point of order, madam chair. on the motion that failed regarding the vp motion, vp candidates being first -- >> point of order, microphone two. >> you are not recognized.
8:10 pm
your point of order is no different than his except it's a little bit rude. we are going to hear him and we are not voting on anything now. >> my point is this. we just had a vote to have the vp candidates handle first. you said it failed. if this is a motion to amend something previously adopted in the agenda, i believe there's two ways you can change it -- you can adopt it, either with a two thirds vote of those present voting or a majority of all delegates. it appears the 460 votes in favor exceeds the majority of delegates. therefore i think, but i'm not certain, that the motion was adopted rather than failed. >> ok. >> point of order. >> where -- i think we are at is that you are correct. >> point of order. >> stop and let me finish.
8:11 pm
i am the chair. you are not and you need to let me speak so people understand what i am saying. [applause] now here is where we are at. you are correct that it could have gone on a majority vote. we did not have a credentialed committee report at that time. i called it as the motion failing and mr. nanna moved and seconded something else and we had moved on from the business. i think you will have to appeal my ruling or move to reconsider it. >> madam chair, just so i am clear, with the previous credentialed report, does that show 466 or less or more? >> the previous credentialed report. >> i will find out. >> i believe it had a number
8:12 pm
lower than 466. am i wrong? >> point of information. the credentials report showed the numbers going down. so the previous number was the larger one. >> point of order. point of order, microphone two. >> no one is addressed now until i get the previous credentials report from the chair -- or the secretary. [indiscernible chatter] >> point of order at microphone two. >> the previous credentials
8:13 pm
report has two thirds of 625, mr. starr. oh, you need to majority number. >> it was not two thirds of the people voting. >> greater than 466 of the motion failed. >> the previous one was 469. >> thank you. >> call for the orders of the day, madam chair. >> we are on orders of the day. we are on balloting. we are not going to do at large nominations until ballots are turned into tellers because it's chaos. people cannot hear. that's what we are going to do. as soon as they are turned into tellers, we are going to begin. >> man to man. man-to-man. i respect you -- >> ok.
8:14 pm
we need to get our presidential candidates on the screen right now. there are two candidates left. i hear there is some confusion. >> madam chair, point of order -- >> we have chase oliver and michael rectenwald and we will get their names on the screen. >> madam chair, point of -- >> now who has a point of personal privilege? microphone one. >> madam chair, this is mike tremont from virginia. i want to thank the delegation that's seated here today. [applause] for giving me an opportunity to participate in this process. i think you guys have been terrific. and i know that what matter -- that no matter what comes out of my pie hole today a lot of people will be upset so i would like to explain really quick, i have confirmed with my team -- i
8:15 pm
have conferred with my team. michael heise's team has been respectful to me. we went two different directions based on strategy, not based on personality, and i need to respect that. the caucus had a particular strategy. we could not come to an agreement on that. we still feel the same way that we did three years ago. we feel the same that we did two years ago and one year ago. and we feel the same as we did two weeks ago. i can't change that. i can't change the caucus strategy. if i could i would. for this reason. i will accept chase oliver's offered to run as his vice presidential candidate -- chase oliver's offer to run as his vice president will candidate. [applause]
8:16 pm
thank you, madam chair. >> guys, we are in the middle of balloting. thank you. [indiscernible chatter]
8:17 pm
>> madam chair, point of personal privilege. madam chair? chair mcardle: which microphone is requesting a point of personal privilege? >> mic one. point of personal privilege? >> yes. mr. heise? >> i feel the need to respond to tremont.
8:18 pm
they also offered mike tremont the vice presidential position. chair mcardle: ok. thank you, mr. heise. all right. so here's the situation. we need to finish balloting and not try to engage in gamesmanship when people are in the middle of voting. >> point of privilege at mic four. chair mcardle: we need to do balloting. >> point of privilege at mic four. chair mcardle: microphone four? >> could we have the names of the candidates on the screen please? chair mcardle: yes. there you go. i'm going to consult with my parliamentarian so i will not be recognizing anyone until i have answered a question. i believe the gentleman actually meant the at large nominations. >> we are still waiting on ballots, so no, it would not be in order. >> point of inquiry -- disregard. you answered it. >> microphone two? three? was it two or three? it's hard to hear.

chair mcardle: i believe our states are still balloting. states, if you are still balloting, can you please wave at me? thank you. we do have a few states that are still balloting. once those estates are done balloting, we will move to at large nominations. choir members, please, if you are finished balloting, go over to florida. we are trying to find a time to see your beautiful performance. 8:37 pm
thank you, everyone. we are going to go -- >> i would like to appeal the ruling from the chair. chair mcardle: i'm not going to entertain that appeal. or else why don't we do everything over? [applause] that will be the 2026 convention theme, the do overs. ok. so here's is what we are going to do. we are going to see how many states are still balloting because i think we need to go to nominations of at large. it looks like all the ballots are to the tellers. so i want to see people lined up who are ready for at large nominations. at large nominations. we are going to take just 30
8:38 pm
seconds. please find your seats and lower your voices unless you are turning in ballots. all right. who has got a nomination? i see microphone four. microphone four is not working. let's give our av team just a moment and then you are going to be recognized. >> madam chair -- chair mcardle: microphone four was already trying to be recognized. microphone four, could you just shout? microphone four is the one that gets the most overlooked so we are going to let this man speak up. he's going to come up to
8:39 pm
microphone one and by the time he does microphone four will be fixed. thank you very much. >> madam chair, i'm a little bit confused. i have a parliamentary inquiry. chair mcardle: speak a little bit louder and everyone else be a little quieter. >> i have a parliamentary inquiry because i'm confused where we are at. did you rule on mr. starr's point of order? chair mcardle: i did. >> and what was the ruling? chair mcardle: the ruling was that -- hold on. let's pull that backup on the screen. i did rule on it. i just want to get the motion back up on the screen. otherwise it will not make any sense and i will have to do it anyway. no, mr. starr. remember mr. starr made -- he did a point of parliamentary
8:40 pm
inquiry. ok. but we need the motion on the screen. i'm asking you to put that on the screen. the motion. the two thirds vote. all right. hang tight. all right. there was a motion that failed. they moved to suspend the rules to go to the potus nomination. it failed. mr. starr asked what the vote threshold was. it was two thirds or a majority. we did a credentials check after that and the majority was 466. i ruled that even though it made the threshold we had already moved on to the next agenda item, so my motion would have to
8:41 pm
be appealed or someone have to move for reconsideration -- someone would have to move for reconsideration. >> i appeal for reconsideration. >> seconded. >> point of order, madam chair. it is not timely. it cannot be appealed. >> madam chair, i beg to differ with you. i think you ruled i was incorrect. i think you are correct that i was incorrect because we had 466 votes that were cast in favor of changing the order and i would have either had to have 467 -- 469 was the prior -- chair mcardle: okchair mcardle:. thank you. all right. there we go. ok, did i answer your question? >> yes. chair mcardle: i know.
8:42 pm
mr. cecilski, did you have any additional questions or motions? >> i am moving to appeal the position of the chair. chair mcardle: you are appealing my ruling on -- >> that the vote failed because we had a majority of the entire body. >> this is not a timely appeal. point of order. >> point of order, madam chair. chair mcardle: all right. >> madame, point of order. >> you will all wait one second because we are going to put this to rest and it will be faster. do you have a second to appeal the ruling of the chair? >> someone? >> seconded. chair mcardle: ok. it will take a majority to overturn my ruling and then we are going to go back and it's
8:43 pm
still going to take two thirds. >> madam chair, point of order. >> microphone three. it is not timely. you cannot appeal an hour later. chair mcardle: ok. thank you. all right. there we go. [applause] >> madam chair, i would like to debate -- are we having an appeal? chair mcardle: i don't think so. i also think it's untimely. >> ok. that's fine. >> madam chair, we don't have any intervening business. chair mcardle: i don't know who is talking. here's how this is going to work. there's a few things at play right now. we are at nominations for at large. there was just a motion to appeal my ruling. it failed. this is how we are doing it. we are going to go to at large votes at some point this
8:44 pm
evening. we are going to do vice president for nominations. and if you are going to speak in a microphone, it's not going to be an announcement. i don't want any announcements. stop yourselves. you are going to do an actual point of order. you are going to do a point of parliamentary inquiry if you want to know how to make a motion or something like that. those are the kinds of things we are doing. you have a motion. maybe we don't want to hear about it something you have a right to do and you are entitled to do. we are going to do it like that but we will not do anymore announcements or interruptions. we will go with the nominations. if you have anything else, you will state your name and state and what microphone you are at. where am i starting? >> microphone three. chair mcardle: microphone three. >> taylor richman, chair of west virginia. i rise to nominate my vice chair, travis bosch, for at large.
8:45 pm
chair mcardle: thank you. >> madam chair, microphone one. chair mcardle: microphone one. >> dave benner, tennessee delegate, volunteer forever. madam chair, i nominate robert vincent from florida for at large. chair mcardle: thank you so much. >> madam chair, mic two, jason from minnesota. it would be my pleasure to nominate josh polotka. chair mcardle: we have robert vincent. we have got josh latka. we have sam whiflinger, minnesota. jason cleese? jason cleese nominated josh. from which state? minnesota. thank you. ok. now we are going to go back to microphone four. >> jos toefl, florida

delegation. i would like to nominate eric parker from north carolina.
