6:55 pm
one, the viability of this case has been questioned from all sorts of media outlets, including from the defendants themselves. can you respond to that and how do you feel now that you have my response is i did my job. i think particularly i talked about my personal history. i started in a prosecutor in 2003 in public integrity unit of the new york state attorney general's office. i served also in the southern district of new york. these are cases and it is a halk of this office that i am proud to lead. i don't want to go into the whole body of litigation, but we now have a federal court decision, ruling on the legal theories. we had a state court decision on the omnibus motions. but most importantly, today we
6:56 pm
have the most important voice of all, the voice of the jurors. they have spoken. donald j. trump has been convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records. reporter:investigating this cas- reporter: are you concerned about retribution of trump is elected president? reporter: he went to the supreme court twice. any coent on that? >> kisses c-span's coverage of today's guilty verdict against -- this is span's coverage of today's guilty verdict against former psident donald trump. heard from alvin bragg just farmer resident guilty on all 35 counts of falsifying business records, making him theirst president in american history to be convicted on felony crimes. want to hear from you on if you agree or disagree with the verdict. if you agree with the verdict,

6:58 pm
trial. the real verdict is going to be november 5 by the people, and they know what happened here and everybody knows what happened here. i did not do anything wrong. i am an innocent man. i am fighting for our country, our constitution. this was done by the biden administration inhurt a political opponent. it is just a disgrace, and we will keep fighting until the end and we will win, because our country has gone to hell. we don't have -- we are a nation of serious decline. millions of people pouring into our country right now from prisons and from mental institutions, terrorists, and
6:59 pm
they are taking over our country. we have a country that is in big trouble. this is a big decision right from day one with a conflicted judge who should have never been allowed to try this case. we will fight for our constitution. this is long from over. thank you very much. host: former president donald trump just outside the courtroom after receiving the guilty verdict, 34 in total. you heard from alvin bragg. it w biden-harris campaign tting out a statement shortly here is how it read.e down. 7:06 pm
on our yes line. go ahead. caller: i hope everyone heard. all along, he is telling you the bad things he is planning to do to ourd anybody who did not lisn back thenhost: roberta in calif. louisiana is next. that's where jane is on our no line. you are next up. caller: hello. this is jane from louisiana, and i'm a republican, and that these people that did not follow the rule ofl(ug law have causedr president so much harm.
7:07 pm
host: ok. caller:lking? host: go ahead and finish her statement please. caller: i just want to say god bless america, and hopefully, somehow trump will be vindicated. ok. host: and texas. ragu on our yes line regarding the events of today. caller: good afternoon. i just want to say it is fantastic that 12 jurors who really nobody knows what their affiliation is, etc., but they all got together, went through 34 counts, and declared this individual glt it is time for americans to recognize the rule of law and
7:08 pm
accept everything that comes from our judiciary■v with people like judge marchand doing his duty, and it's pathetic that people don't understand the rule of law. we want it unidirectional he but not where it works uniformly across the country. i am so delighted that this happen for us in america. host: ragu there in texas giving us his thoughts. you heard from democratic representatives earlier. a series of republican representatives making their thoughts known on x. this is representative tom cole. also among the republicans commenting, representative anthony d esposito.
7:09 pm
that's an widener, also going on to say -- ■# is just some of the initial reaction from legislators asy's decision that took place in new york a few hours ago, just a little after 4:30 in the afternoon. elizabeth in alabama on our yes line, you are next up. host: i am so relieved that there is integrity and honesty left in this country --caller: i am so relieved that there is integrity and honesty left in this country. i am so tired of hearing the ex-president proclaimed that
7:10 pm
this is a witch hunt. he is a fantasy reporter. there is no truth in his brain. i am so relieved that these people would see this, and i do hope that jury, protected from his vengeance. ■>host: that's izour no line. caller: i'm calling regarding these people calling in yes that they are so full of themselves that they cannot see beyond this here conviction. you are right in saying yes if you to andy up in a the way biden is leading us. host: why do you say no since you are calling on that line? caller: it's because i'm a trump
7:11 pm
llower. i do believe in that. when he said it was going to get done, it was ne. we did not get all this bs because harris is the one with all the -host: we are talking at today's decision. what did you think about today's decision specifically? caller: we are going to end up in a nuclear war. no one can see beyond that. we are headed that way right now with korea and russia. you people out there voting yes, we'll see what you are saying when they drop nuclear bombs over here. host: we are going to leave it for callers, if you would not mind watching your language for certain aspects. do you agree with the verdict is what we are asking here. you can respond to that as you wish and also post on our social media.
7:12 pm
you will remember, many witnesses called to testify over the several weeks that the trial took place, mike cohen among them. remember, part of his testimony called back to the reconsider today. stormy daniels, you will remember appearing, the first major witness to appear. keith davidson, robert costello as well. it was michael cohen and "newsweek" reporting this morning -putting out a statement saying that in part, today was an important day for accountability and a rule of law. i want to thank my attorneys for their invaluable guidance and support throughout this process. form a troubled lawyer who served as a key witness for the prosecution in that case told "." color on our no line, 34 counts
7:13 pm
guilty when it comes to the recordkeeping practices the jury considered. here is terry in florida. go ahead. caller: i disagree with the verdict. i think it is a travesty of justice. if you look, the laws in new york city were changed to allow this window of opportunity strictly for trump, and i see it as6 another assassination of a president. john f. kennedy was assassinated, and it was covered up for years. now we have another public assassination by the democratic party. it's a shame thathost: on our f you are from florida. caller: this is absolutely another travesty of justice. hundreds of attorneys have even said this is nothing but a witch hunt.
7:14 pm
the judge himself is a nazi -- host: hold up, as far as how you characterize him, that is one thing, but go ahead and finish her statement. caller: all i can say is that totally impartial judge that was up there, when he was giving the brief to the jury, he was telling the jury, you might find this, you can definitely charge him on these. there's nothing t abt why not go after obama? he is guilty of multiple charges. he's guilty of multiple charges. go after clinton. but trump, he put this country back together again and made it livable. a lot of people that are saying no, i am hearing a lot of obably illegal -- host: we are moving onto lowell.
7:15 pm
caller: thank you for your show. number one, i am very happy that the rule of law and justice prevailed. to all of the naysayers who talk about it's a witch hunt, there is no witch hunt. from my perspective, justice is justic have 12 independent people that have never met before independently unanimously have a guilty verdict on 34 felony counts, that is pretty remarkable. for all those that say this was a witch hunt, get out of your cult. i wish the republican party nominate somebodwho is moral. i love your show.
7:16 pm
i've been following c-spa for close to a decade. god bless you and god bless america. thank you and have a good evening. host: lowell in illinois giving his comments. you are welcome to do the same. by posting on our social media site. house leaders posting on social media as well, includin again, te speaker. the house minority leader, hakeem jeffries, also weighing in on x, saying -- ■again, those are the comments
7:17 pm
from members of congress. those will continue as the day goes ahead. make your comments, too. 202-748-■20 if you say yes, you agree with the decision. 202-748-8921■ if you say no, you disagree with the guilty verdict that was headed out today. jim is in tennessee on our yes line. your next up. go ahead. caller: i'm just thankful that a verdict reached in a way that the conduct of not ly the ■, judge but the jurists, they all acted very interested, and they were attentive. as far as the trial goes, frankly, it's a great day for america because everyone is subject under the law. i'm saddened by the fact that there's so many people that are
7:18 pm
emotionally and intelligently stunted that just don't see that this was not just some cooked up, you know, conspiracy theory. it's not just rednecks here or there. we've got the supreme court with the same kind of mentality. some of them need to be considered for impeachment themselves. guest: let's go to john in illinois --host: let's go to john in illinois on our no line caller:. last caller calling it a trumped up conspiracy. this is an absolute tragedy. an absolute witch hunt. if anybody cannot guess this is politically motivated -- mind.erni think they have
7:19 pm
-- i think they have warped the jury's minds. host: steve in louisiana. go ahead. caller: i believe the judge led this dision and caused the jury to come up to this verdict. this is going tmarump even moree election. host: ok. steve in louisiana sharing his thoughts not only on today's decision, how it impacts the political season going forward but the election in november. highlighting next steps that ta place after today's decision, deliberating the verdict, the jury being dismissed, i process largely controlledf■ by judge marchand. the judge said the trump sentencing date for july 11 at
7:20 pm
10:00 in the morning. he ordered parties in the case to file motions by the 13th. s are expected to submit sentencing memos. several steps to go when it comes to afteryou can watch on s we go along and give your comments on the process as well. you heard from steve. let's hear from wayne in richmond, virginia, on our yes line for the guilty verdict for the former president. caller: yes, sir, back you for taking my call. it's unfortunate for us in america to have a president to be found guilty of criminal charges, but his character from the beginning should have shown us something. he was found guilty of scamming people out of their money with trump university. contractors lost money for them.
7:21 pm
he never paid electricians and working men, carpenters. the beginning, his character has been flawed. for him to finally be convicted of something, you know, if it walks like a duck and act like i don't, more than likely -- so i do not applaud the fact that america is so divided behind trump, but i am happ that he got convicted because he is a felon, not because he got busted this time, but his previous actions showed he had criminal attempts to do things. it's a sorry day for america to be so divided over this one individual. thank you for taking my call. host: wayne in richmond, virginia, giving us his thoughts. many cameras pointed in and around new york city in connection with this trial. still, they continue to pick up the action after the event, including this incident that
quote
7:22 pm
took place outside trump tower concerning former president trump. [indiscernible shouting] ■phost: that's the scene outside
7:23 pm
of trump tower in new york city where the former president acknowledged the events of this afternoon at the federal courthouse. we are taking your calls on today's guilty verdict if you want to let us know your response. democrats line -- i'm sorry, on our line for those who suppd. caller: yes, i am kind of happy they found him guilty. i hope everybody who is calling in talking about no votes, i hope they realize we do have a justice system in this country. like they've been saying, nobody above the law. found guilty for 34 counts --
7:24 pm
nobody found guilty on 34 counts it's to walk out like that. he walked out the court like nothing happened. host: billy in atlanta -- oh, you want to finish a thought, go ahead? caller: no, that he got to walk courtroom like that. he a convicted felon. nobody in this country can do that. nobody. host: billy in georgia. let's hear from rex in west virginia are our no line. is this rex in west virginia? caller: yes. host: go ahead. you are on. caller: i don't get this here -- you know, biden has done more than what trump has done, and they ain't nothing done about that, but trump made everything possible for us to make a gas, ,
7:25 pm
inflation was down, but, you know, they convict the man on nothing but trash is what i'm going to say. just like back in the bible days , and i'm going to bring it up, and you will not cut me off, i hope. just like when they convicted jesus when he was on the cross, they turned to loose, barabbas. people need to pick up the bible and read it. history repeats itself. -- they turned the murderer loose. we are going to be in the middle of a war. host: that's a mix giving his thoughts. more republican members of congress giving their thoughts as well.
7:26 pm
darrell issa, representative from new york. again. and jerry carl adding, saying -- republican from alabama giving his thoughts this afternoon. after that decision earlier today, we are taking your thoughts, too. let's hear from jill on our yes line. she is in new york. >> yes, hi, i just would like to say that it was the jurors who made the decision, and it was a decision that was unanimous on
7:27 pm
34 counts. it wasn't 32. it was not 25. ■i applaud every single for their decision and also for their taking the time to really look at it for what it was, and that■+ was that he is a convictd felon. that's all i had to say. host: joe is up next in delaware on our no line. hi. caller: actually, name is carol. now that we have opened pandora's box, we have decided to go after political opponents because we cannot win on merit and our own policies are failures. it's time the american people wake up and see what is going on in this country. i have listened to a lot of yes colors and a lot of no callers.
7:28 pm
i know there is the that you tend to call yes the democrat line. kind of ironic. we need to see the dangers we are facing going forward now. i think a good place to start is maybe the statue of liberty does not bother new york harbor any longer. i would say send it back to france, but they are as corrupt as new york. maybe a nationwide boycott on new york and all things new yorker. perhaps a boycon democrat until they learned that they show this country, the people they say they disagree with, but we are still supposed to be one nation under god. but that's just too mh for than that i'm afraid of where this may ultimately lead us. if you want to be a clear, reasoning, speaking human being,
7:29 pm
you need to look at this case in new york for what it actually is. if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck,nd i think it's time for everybody to step back and look in the mirror and understand what country you are going to leave your grandchildren. host: ok, let us hear from esther in san antonio on our yes line. go ahead. caller: yes. i don't think it is political. in that courtroom and the people who disagree were not in the courtroom. they did not hear the evidence. there's no political party of intelligent upright citizens [indiscernible] if you disagree, you must have
7:30 pm
been in that courtroom, but i have to go with those who had the evidence, and that is my point. thank you. host: thank you. several other democratic lawmakers giving their this morning. this afternoon, i am sorry. and our nex -- and if you are from maryland.
7:31 pm
i believe he was going to say the former president. you can post on x, too,@cspan if you want to make your thoughts known there. our facebook page is available, too. facebook.com/c-span, if you agree with today's decision regarding the former president. you can call our yes line at 202-748-8920. if you disagree with it, that is the no line, 202-748-8921. mike in north carolina on our no line. caller: good evening, pedro. maybe i will talk with you in the morning. but i strongly disagree with this opinion. the presidential election of 2020, what was the voter thing between democrats and republicans? like, 90% democrat and 10% republican? and the judge should have recused himself complete a bides

proven, and his daughter party,g millions of dollars. trump did not get a fair trial on this. when the defense prosecution come up, he overruled all the defense's objections, but when the defense came up, he sided with the prosecution every te. e wave" that was supposedly committed was not until the end of the prosecution's statements. they know it has to be a unanimous decision, but in new york just like washington, d.c., them are 99% democrat and liberal. of course they are not going to find mr. trump not■$ guilty. and everybody that can see it
7:33 pm
knows it. even the democrats, but they are just trying to lock up trump, keep him off the trail because mr. trump is leading all the poles, all the blacks, hispanics, the women, independents, and they are trying every which way they can because they know their candidate is a decrepit old fossil that don't know what he's doing so much -- host: let me ask about what you just said. do you think this will change public opinion towards the former president? caller: it's going to make him stronger because they know this is a corrupt system and it all boils downm to merrick garland, joe biden, the justice department because merrick garland still has a thorn in his posterior because trump got to nominate the supreme court mr. garland thought hwahost: oko
7:34 pm
on our yes line. caller: hello. thank you very much for taking my call. i just want to say that it don't matter if you are a democrat or republican. just look athe facts or the evidence. it's not political. jyi don't even see why donald trump is even allowed to even run for president anyway when he was involved with january 6. he crimes he committed. evidence and all the other stuff he is doing. yes, we have never had anybody like this always his history is being a crook. let's take the political point out of this. they want to blame joe biden and everybody else. these are self-inflicted wounds by dond trump. everybody is a liar except for
7:35 pm
donald trump. the judge, the prosecution. the jury. these jurors did their job. they saw the evidence. they convict on 34 counts. they need to stop blaming everybody else for what donald trump does. host: ok, brandon is next on our no line. caller: i'm actually calling because i think people need to understand it does not matr what party you vote for. i agree with the previous caller , that this is not political. at the end of the day, our presidents have been freemasons and have been in the past. our founding fathers were freemasons, so this is all by design and all staged. some of the principles they have is order out of chaos. obviously, this is causing chaos and division and that's what they want in our country. host: ok, edie in florida on our
7:36 pm
yes line. caller: thanks for taking my call. i'm so glad my prayers were answered, and it's my birthday, so happy birthday to me. i'm so glad he was found guilty. amen for that. host: ok, edie there in florida. several of you have been calling in. you can do the same if you like. 202-748-8920 is the yes line if you agree with the decision today. if you disagree with that, 202-748-8921 is how you can call and let us know. again, colors, if you could turn down your television in the back on, it makes the conversation go a lot more smoothly. senator chuck grassley, republican of iowa, if you have watched any amount of c-span, you know who hison x, saying t'-

that's just one of the legislators there. franco and also giving his thoughts, saying -- -- frank cohan also giving his thoughts, saying -- from trent kelly. again, just somef from legislat. we will be showing you as many as they come inrobably more as we go on throughout the evening hours. in arizona, audrey on our no line.
7:38 pm
hi there. caller: hi there. how you doing? host:you are on. go ahead. caller: i'm disgusted with the whole judicial system. .=it's like there is not -- there's no charge. and cohen, he already admitted that not only did he do everything, but he skimmed money from trump. the judge is with the democrats. he should recluse himself. his daughter worked for the biden campaign. i mean, come on. but he is restricted from saying anything? i mean, please, can we admit that this whole thing was an attack against trump?
7:39 pm
it is ridiculous. i am ashamed right now of the judicial system in new york city. host: do you think the former president should have testified in his own defense? caller: i think it would have bit probably better for him if he would have, but it does not matter. look who they got to testify that basically said that whatever cohen said is a lie. the judge, the way he gave the jurors verdict, this is completely asinine. for god sakes, usually it is without a reasonable doubt, and he did not do that. the judge did not do that. host: ok, let's hear from nancy in nevada on our yes i agree wit it for no other reason than i believed in our judicial system.
7:40 pm
i believe that justice was served, and i believe there were 12 capable jurors making a decision. they were the ones that were privy to the court proceedings, to the evidence, and having sat on a jury, i know that we take the job very seriously, and i'm sure that they did, too. and came to a reasonable and just verdict. host: ok, nancy there. well in atlanta, georgia, on our no line. you are up. caller: i appreciate you takinga made a lot of good sense, but i theological discussion about america being the promised land that god prophesied in the book of isaiah, but the fact of the matter is, our true founder was
7:41 pm
john adams, and he said thomas jefferson is with a higher vision, that is out of john adams' quoted mouth. jefferson identified history unfolding as a result of the conflict between factions. you can read about it in the adams-jefferson letters, postwar correspondence -- host: how does that relate to today? caller: it's the same faction. ezekiel says the -- that god will attack the land of villages. if you drive across america, you will see that we are a land of unwalled villages because of the second amendment. we are actually this promised land, the gentile nation of armed priests, and god is attacking us -- host: steve in wisconsin on our yes line. caller: i'm really pleased with the decision that the court may because america has a system
7:42 pm
th requires 12 people to make a decision that, you know, gives us justice, and guess what? the facts came out that exactly -- that said exactly what cohen did or said -- guess what, in 1932, there was a gentleman in germany that this guy keeps quoting he has been stirring the pot with america ever since he got into the think. show your fires. the guy is an evil person. my sisters and brothers, they are human beings and this guy can only be president for four more years, so why is the whole world getting all upset about donald trump? if he was present, he only has four years left.
7:43 pm
last time, he tried to start a war with iran before his general stopped him. host: ok, thanks. again, you can continue making your thoughts, calling in on various lines on today's guilty verdict, 34 counts total against the former president. it was after about 4:30 that this came down. not too long after, it was the manhattan district attorney in front of cameras giving his thoughts on the last several weeks. d.a.: good evening. first and foremost, i want to thank the jury for its servers -- service. the jurors performed a fundamental civic duty their service is literally the cornerstone of our judicial system. we should all be thankful for the attention that the jury paid to the evidence and the law and their time and commitment over these past several weeks.
7:44 pm
12 everyday new yorkers and of course our alternates heard testimony from 22 witnesses, including former and current employees of the defendant, media executives, book publishers, custodians of records, and others. they reviewed call logs, text and emails. they heard recordings. they saw checks and invoices, bank statements and invoices, bank statements and calendar appointments. this type of whe-coll is core t. in the 1930's, district attorney thomas dewey ushered in the era of the modern independent professional$erosecutor.

7:46 pm
their deliberations led them to a unanimous conclusion beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant, donald j. trump, is guilty of 34 trumps of -- 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal a scheme to corrupt 2016 elections. while ts defendant may be unlike any other in american history, we arrived at this trial and ultimately today at this verdict in the same manner as every other case that comes to the courtroom doors, by following the facts and the law and doing so without fear or favor. i want to conclude by expressing deep gratitude to nypd and the ficers of the office of court administration for securing the

courthouse, all of our safety, making sure the courthouse and all of the other matters that are important in their own right, continued seamlessly. they will continue to be and have always been incredible partners. thank you. >> do you plan to request a prison sentence and for the multiple violations of the gag order? >> the judge has scheduled sentencing for july 11. we will speak in court at that time. he also set a motion schedule. we will speak in our court filings as we have done throughout the proceeding. >> [indiscernible] do you have a response to the former president? >> i do not.
7:48 pm
>> [indiscernible] >> i did my job. our job is to follow the facts and the law without fear or favor, and that's exactly what we did here. what i feel is gratitude we work alongside phenomenal public servants who do that each and every day in matters that you all write about and lots of matters that you do not. i did my job. we did our job. many voices out there. the only voice that matters is the voice of the jury, and the jury has spoken. >> for mr. stein glass, many people said the prosecution was

masterful and flawless. just want to know how you feel at thi>> mr. steinglass -- i thk some of you probably saw him speak for a little bit the other day. [laughter] he has done his job, as has this team, and he told me, tell them how i feel. i think you said that. iú8 think just enormous gratitu. i talked about the jurors at the beginning of my remarks. we a phenomenal system. 12 everyday new yorkers listened to the judge's directions. they followed them. they were careful and attentive, so i feel deep gratitude working alongside them, to be part of this system, and i just want to echo that this is what we are doing every ngle day, and during this trial -- you know, just this week, a ghost gun

indictment, grimaldi's wage theft, sex convictions -- all sorts of work that's being done by phenomenal public servants. we are before you today on this obviously consequential matter, but this is what we do every day. we follow the facts and the law without fear or failure -- fear or favor. >> i'm going to let our words in court speak for themselves when we get to the sentencing matter. i'm not going to address hypotheticals. they raise arguments, we will respond. i think your question underscores an important point. this is an ongoing matter. we have other phases going ahead
7:51 pm
and we will continue to do our speaking about this>> [indiscer] the viability of the case has been questioned in all sorts of media outlets. can you respond to any of that, how you feel now that you got this conviction? >> my response again is i did my job, and i think particularly it's also about the history of the office. my personal history, i started as a prosecutor in the new york state attorney general's office in the public integrity unit answered also in the public integrity unit in the southern district of new york. these are cases i have done personally, and it's a hallmark of this office that i'm proud to lead. i don't want to go into the whole body of, but we now have a federal court decision ruling on the legal

theories. we had a state court decision on the omnibus motion, but most importantly, today, we have the most important voice of all, and that is the voice of the jurors. they have spoken. donald j. trumhas been convicted 34 counts up falsifying business records. >> your office has been investigating the case since -- are you concerned about retribution if trump is elected president? host: the manhattan district attorney got a press conference after today's concerning those guilty charges against former president trump. again, making those comments. we will hear from e president i. we will continue to hear those that hear your calls as well. keep calling on the phone line. let me find the number. --202-748-8920 if you are calling on the yes line. 202-748-8921 on the no line.

we will find out what happens next in this process. to walk us through that, a reporter for public agency, who has been on the front seat since the beginning. thanks for giving us your time. >> thanks for having me. >> when it comes to next steps, walk us through this. quickly conviction can down today, and the next thing that happens is sentencing. you heard the reporters asking the same question, if you will prison time. we are not there yet, and we will find out on july 11 when there is a sentencing hearing for donald trump when he will be back in court and the judge will decide. in the meantime, we will see court filings. we will see probably an appeal launched by trump as well and
7:54 pm
see him attempt to try and freeze the entire■6. we will see what happens next, but it's a question if the district attorney will seek a prison term. >> determining those questions, what kind of things get factored in to that? >> if the judge ordered a probation report where the judge takes stock of someone's life and what they have done in the past and most important link, their criminal history and donald trump did n today. that will factor. he is a first-time offender. it is on a low-level felony, and the judge will probably take a look at all those factors. there's research on what kind of prison sentences people have gotten for similar crimes
7:55 pm
convictions, and so all of that will be factored in in deciding what is the appropriate for donald trump. >> factors like the president's age, those kinds of things actor in as well? >> they can. it really is taking a look at the whole person. very importantly, there are a couple of factors that jump to mind, and that is if the defendant is contrite, if they are expressing remorse for their crime. donald trump has famously said that is something he does not do. we will have to wait and see. obviously, the important factor is he actually has a history of public service. he was a president of the united states. all of that goes into the decisi>> when it comes appeals process, what avenue does mr. trump have? >> he can make any number of arguments about the lawfulness
7:56 pm
of the conviction. right at the moment the verdict was handed down, his attorney made an application to the court to set aside the verdict and basically acquit him, arguing that michael:, his former attorney -- michael cohan, his former attorney's credibility was in capable of supporting as a matter of law and fact the conviction, so the judge quily slapped that down. he said that it was denied immediately on the spot. that is certainly one avenue. they can appeal that decision and seek an acquittal on that basis as well. i'm sure there's any number of other arguments that they are going to write. >> when it comes to the jury, i know that they are dismissed. they have done their job. as far as anonymity is concerned, what is your history tell you about these trials and
7:57 pm
what happens after them? >> it's a fascinating question, what happens in the jury room, how did they arrive at their decision and why? every journalist in the united states wants an answer to that question, and it will ultimately be up to the jurors if they decide to talk. one thing i can tel■#l you is tt the court system is very protective of the jurors' privacy. the judge himself decided that the jurors' names would not be made available to the public, nor their addresses. th did not fill out jury questionnaires, so that documentation was not created. their names were never called in court. they were assigned numbers and they answered and responded to those numbers. the verdict sheet itself was signed by the jury for person with his number, not his name, so there is a cloaksurrounding s moment.
7:58 pm
i guess what i would say first is it's most likely that somebody will step forward and want to talk about this. markable moment in history, and they were the judges of facts, so i would expect we will probably see somebody step forward, but as of this moment, i certainly do not see the court system releasing the names, and one other thing i will say is the names were known to donald trump, his attorney, his consultants, etc., and prosecutors, to helporm their research and when they were choosing a jury, and there are six amendment rights that swirl around that, so it was addressed in f the public does not know these names at this time. i would not be surprised if some jurs step forward. >> you have probably covered in urite a few interesting criminal trials.
7:59 pm
how does that compare to what you have gone through the last couple of weeks? >> to compare this trial to any other in terms of the importance politically, historically, that the former president of the united states has been convicted. that is a stunning moment to have been present for, but in so many other ways, this trial was done by the book. they gave standard jury instructions by a large. the charges, you can talk about them being unique in the way that they were applied, but many of the day to day realities of the trial, the small indignities, the room, the dingy criminal courthouse where so many other people are arraigned and tried and convicted, and now
8:00 pm
donald trump is one of those many people who have gone through that process>> you publw 360. how can people find your work? >> you can go to law360.com and find us on twitter as well and the live blogs we put up. we have probably the only docket containing all of the documents and exhibits for the court case. you will find that on law 360 as well. >> a busy host: we are factor calls, and in florida on our yes line. caller: [indiscernible] i agree with the results. host: you will have to keep

accepted it was on that position and felt they were fair-minded, so do not defame the jury. for all of us, the jury are the only ones who sat and heard all of the evidence, so the congresspeople on both sides of the aisle are going into their corners. at they are the only ones who heard all of the evidence every day in that trial, so they are the only ones who can make that decision, and that is the basis of our jury system, you may not be happy with the judge. you may not be happy with michael cohen. the defense did not do their job , and the jury came to the conclusion they had no doubt, all 12 of them are not 34 counts, said that is a. host: carol is next in wisconsin on our no line.
