stuart: baseball's most coveted free agent sew hay ohtani struck a $70 million deal with the la -- $700 million deal and who else benefits from this deal? >> the government, stuart. uncle sam will get paid because ohtani's decision to stay with a team in california is going to have pretty lofty tax implications. now as an earner in the highest tax bracket, 2023 tax rates for california and federal government combine to eq e 49.3% and the japanese sensation is shelling out 49% of the income and dodgers are one of the only teams that could afford the most valuable contracts in pro sports let alone baseball. the 10-year, $700 million contract is $250 million more than mike trouts deal in 2019. the la market has a big fan base and strong ratings meaning
