5:01 pm
larry, thank you so much. you're absolutely right about what you just said, larry. we appreciate you and what you just said. have a good weekend. you worked hard this week. getting right at it, joining us is former deputy national security adviser to president trump victoria coats and data da pritard and served in the middle east and we have news breaking this afternoon. is this escalating into a bigger conflict? the u.s. navy just warned u.s. flagged sh ships to avoid areasn the red sea in the gulf of aiden for the next 72 hours, victoria. there's iranian backed houthis and fighting back with air strikes and houthis forget in yemen and d is the white house drawn into a wider war here? >> this is going to be the grave concern here that the action against the houthi was not
5:02 pm
strong enough and didn't actually kill anything with iranian dna and not only thing that's getting their attention clearly. the fact that we're starting to shelter in place to take protective actions, this is hardly president reagan's operation or preying mantis and qasem soleimani and we're inviting further escalation from houthi and iran. liz: general, what do you think, further escalation. what do you think? >> more action is going to have to be take and that was one set of air strikes and they've not gotten the message and they're still threatening and it's time for us to reconfirm first of all our deterrent capability and dominance and military dominance in the region and will take more
5:03 pm
than just one set of air vibes. liz: victoria, did the white house wait too long? the more news is coming in and president biden today finally said, yes, athletics directories are "terrorists -- houthis are"terrific terrorists but we moved them from the terrorist watch list. now the white house is considering putting that back on. this sounds like apiecement of iran and houthis have bombed and attacked more than two dozen ships since hamas terrorist attacked israel in october. it's the biggest attack yet just this week. >> absolutely. this is the first compliment and all compliments to the eisenhower group that performed mmagnificently and the fact that the president has been deliberating for months now and before taking very limit the

grady trimble has been battling temperatures below 30 to stay warm ask not turn into a snow man to bring us the story. grady, we're not going to keep you long and want to get you as warm as possible. reporter: thanks, liz. the big weather story today yes, is that blizzard warning that most of the state of iowa is under social security deny up ending the candidates plans as they try to reach the caucuses and vivek ramaswamy's campaign bus behind me. he himself has been able to go to prescheduled events but the roads are too dangerous to take the big bus and they left it here. nikki haley had to move some in-person events to tele town halls and florida governor ron desantis had to cancel or postpone some in the coming days. in the coming days, the temperatures are going to plunge
5:07 pm
in addition to the snowy conditions and how they could impact the voter turnout and trump for example is going to be here and has four events in iowa this weekend. no doubt he'll be telling his supporters not to be complaisant even with the frigid temperatures. meanwhile desantis and haley are urging their supporters to show up as long as they can safely do so because they need all the support they can get when you look at polls right now. >> may be as few as 130, 140,000 people. your vote matters a great deal on monday night. especially given the weather. >> what we hope is they'll wear layers and they'll bring their photo id and that they'll come out and caucus and it's important. iowa sets the tone for where the rest of the country goes. reporter: haley hoping the cold weather doesn't throw cold water on her momentum here in iowa. look at latest suffolk

university poll and chris christie announced he was dropping out earlier in the week and she's hoping to pick up his supporters. former president trump still leads her and desantis by more than 30 points. if the polls are accurate, liz, it could be a historic landslide win for the former president. we'll find out come monday. liz: grady, get warm and hurry up and get inside right now. good to see you. he's off the screen right there. joining suspended ands fox news contributor liz peek and grover norquist. thank you for spending time with us this friday night. liz peek, first to you, the president took bibs on the road in -- bidenomics on the road in pennsylvania and only had two public events in the past two weeks and, liz, he didn't really give a speech today and he's now putting out the first lady and also nancy pelosi and surrogates it seems to go in the media to defend his tenure in the white

house. inflation up nearly 18% under biden. what do you think about what's going on now? >> he's been criticized for not being out on the campaign trail but he's got problems on the campaign trail. number one, he doesn't present very well. oftentimes he's ridiculed or at least critiqued for having stumbles and bumbles and not being able to give a clear message and guess what, he doesn't have a very good message to sell. he's basically still talking bidenomics, even though that continues to be a big flop with voters. inflation is here and still a problem for all americans and just has to talk about democracy and jobs and abortion rights and how terrible trump s. he talks about trump being fixated on the past and he's the one that's fixated on the past and donald
5:10 pm
trump and it's not much of a campaign issue. liz: it's a race, grover. axios reporting all democrat blocks are financially stressed under the white house and axios talking women, blacks, hispanics, asian voters and a key democrat voting block and you're seeing electricity, grocery, energy prices up 20% or more under this white house. they can't blame on supply chains or the pandemic anymore. it's because of overregulation and because this biden white house cracked down too hard on this economy and that's going on. what do you think? >> well, on a dollars and cents, things are looking bad. the average american is poorer today because inflation went up more than their wages did.
5:11 pm
so they're making time and when biden says it's take three hours for your dishwasher to work or a couple hours for your washing machine to work. it's your time he's taking away from you. when they decide what kind of oven you can have and what kind of stove you can have. this is messing with people's lives. they've declared this a war and the democrats and labor eweons that supported them and a side hustle who are freelancers. it's 60 million american haves some income that's independent contractor freelance selling stuff on venmo. the irs is attacking you for that, and now the labor unions and the labor department are attacking you to make it impossible for you to work for yourself. you have to have a bust.
5:12 pm
liz: grover, to your point, there's a record number of people holding multiple jobs. that's an issue. what grover said, liz, look at this, this is a seat change. we're living in history, liz. gallop is saying we now have a record number of swing voters, more than ever before. more than 43% of american voters gallop says now identify as independent. liz, that's bigger than the 27% saying they're republican .x more people becoming independent since 2011 since the obama white house. what do you think of this new trend? >> it's interesting and democrats in 2008, liz, said part of the country is now down to 27 and gop more or less held their ground and this represent as tremendous shift particularly in younger voters who basically
5:13 pm
don't like either party and i think both parties should be asking themselves why is that? what are we doing to really turn off voters? it's a big deal and i, you know, i don't think it really bodes terribly well. >> who do you lean towards? more towards republicans than democrats. right now if you ask if you're republican or lean republican versus democrat or lean democrat and republicans are ahead by a couple of points and even the independents are breaking a little more or are. liz: interesting. grover norquist, thank you so much. we appreciate you. >> thanks, liz. have a good weekend.

liz: tonight we have congressman pat fallon and francey hakes and john yoo and author and columnist and house judiciary launching a new corruption probe into special prosecutor nathan wade. he's the alleged boyfriend of da fanny willis. she gave him a big high paying lucrative job in the trump 2020 case. they've been financially benefiting. that's what a court motion says. subpoenas for the but not for me. hunter biden caves to be interviewed for the impeachment inquiry. what's the fallout on that? biden 204 campaign growing headache and minority voters are swinging toward former president trump. we have state of the unions, coaches and families and they've had enough and big protest outside ncaa convention against biological males harming women's sports. more breaking news, they're
