>> exactly. larry: he uses tariffs to negotiate, to be tough with china. they deserved it. >> that's right. larry: i think they will probably deserve more, but the reality is he had barrier lowering agreements which he believes in reciprocity. >> yeah. larry: you have people in the newspapers and wall street saying oh my god, trump will raise tariffs on everything, inflation rate will go up. it is not true. it is just not true. >> it is just not true. what you have to understand the link, the very tight link between strength, economic strength and military situations. peace through strength is really important. >> yeah. >> bob mon dell, said it was smoot-hawley tariff, depression called world war ii in his nobel lawyer rat speech. donald trump with growth and good economic policies that is what is called strength and that led to peace. we didn't have any wars under donald trump. we didn't have them under reagan either by the way. there would have been no ukraine had trump had a second term. there would have been no gaza,
4:40 pm
there would have been no houthis. these things happening are because of bad economics which leads to weakness which leads to war. i'm sorry that is the way it really is. peace through strength is really important. if you like peace you need economic strength and supply-side econmics. larry: weak at home, weak abroad. strong at home, strong abroad. that's it. >> exactly. larry: art laffer, appreciate it very much. let's segue right into our next guest. i want to keep talking about this platform. we have got steve miller, former senior trump policy advisor, trump campaign surrogate, my good friend, former colleague. you know. >> steve, i have just think it was really cool today, a week before the convention, they put out the platform. it is easy to read. it is concise. it is consistent with the things mr. trump has been saying from recent years. it is actually consistent doing everything he did in the first term as presidency which you heard art laffer say was so successful. what can you tell us about this platform? i'm sure you read it. i'm sure you may have had a hand
4:41 pm
in it? >> let's talk politics and let's talk about policy. politics, larry, if you have to say something in 100 pages you're doing it wrong. the historical approach to party platforms has been to go on forever and ever and ever and ever about every topic under the sun which basically means you're saying nothing. this trump-led, trump-distilled platform that reduces the republican party's agenda to 20 essential promises is political genius. every american can read it. every american can share it. every american can discuss it. this is what we're going to do on foreign policy, military policy, trade policy, dollar policy, economic policy, migration policy. it is all right there, 20 promises. let's talk about policy, larry. you've been talking about on your show. enjoyed listening as i sat here in the chair. this is a vision for ad call
4:42 pm
prosperity, job creation, economic opportunity, right? lower taxes for everyone. no taxes on tips. slash government regulations, explode american energy. make energy in america as affordable as possible. tame the inflation dragon that is ravaging life savings as you said. keep the dollar as the world's standard. keeping america as the world's superpower. those two things are inextricably linked. fighting foreign trade cheaters especially china so we can have a manufacturing boom at home. and restoring the rule of law in our cities and communities, which larry, as you know without security there is no prosperity. this is a vision to get americans back to work in full time, high-paying jobs that they can afford to pay for all of the things their families need. larry: steve miller, i got to tell you, when i saw number 13, 13, i was talking to art laffer,
4:43 pm
about the strong dollar, world reserve currency, i was weeping with tears of joy, weeping with tears of joy, i was so happy i was besides myself. i'm almost as happy to hear you're in the chair listening to our show. that is a wonderful thing also. the whole thing is a day of blessings. the other point i make, these are things that mr. trump has been talking about, first of all, you could argue throughout his first term which was so successful as art laffer just attested to but he has been talking about these things, this is the key message points for the last several years on the campaign trail. the liberal media keeps ignoring it, but this is one reason he is put together this working class coalition, it seems to me. i will ask you for your take this is one reason. i know polls aren't votes but polls are snapshots. these are the best polling numbers mr. trump has ever had. this is his message. people keep ignoring his message.

i didn't want the biden policies tonight to obscure the importance of this message from the platform. that is the real headline today, what mr. trump has said once again in this platform, steve miller. >> yes. look, if you want to know, everyone always talks about it, if you want to know what a populist agenda is, it is these 20 promises. you have the biden campaign, you have the leftist media out there lying every day, claiming that they know that they know what trump is for. this is the 20 promises. it is right here. if you want to see what president trump is going to do, here is the 20 promises. seal the border, stop the invasion, lower taxes, no taxes on tips, rebuild the military, build a missile defense system for the united states of america. larry: yes. >> keep the dollar as world reserve currency, it is all right there. this is an agenda democrats can get behind, independents can get behind, centrists can get behind, moderates can get
4:45 pm
behind, conservatives can get behind, nationalists can get behind because this is 80% governing agenda larry, this is what you talk about on your show week in, week out. a recipe for opportunity, prosperity and rising wages. larry: i love this a great iron dome missile defense shield over our entire country. last 30 seconds, steve miller, this is a very powerful, very powerful, reaganesque promise but very powerful in these times of uncertainty after biden's foreign policy mistakes. >> yes. well president trump has spoken about we now have the technology, we didn't have it candidly 30 or 40 years ago, we now have the technology to build a truly state of the art missile defense system. larry: yep. >> so we can achieve an unprecedented level of security for the united states in these troubling and dangerous times. president trump is leading the way on laying out how we can have missile against right here

>> george? i'm the guy that put nato together, the future. no one thought i could expand it i'm the guy that shut putin down larry: really, really? nato together and shut putin down. joining us now is senator joni ernst, the chair of the senate gop policy committee and as always, ma'am, welcome to the show. i was not aware that mr. biden either pulled nato together but more importantly, shut putin down? as i recall, senator, biden said don't, but putin did in ukraine but you tell me, you're on the committee. >> oh, my gosh, larry. i literally cannot stop laughing about mr. biden's comments about that. isn't it president biden that said a minor incursion by the

russians into ukraine be totally okay. oh, that'ses fine, go ahead mr. putin. he did not put nato together, larry, we know that. we saw this under the trump administration where president trump stepped up and said, you know what, nato members? you need to stay true to your commitment to the washington agreement which was 2% of gdp. he got more nato members to ante up than we had seen in previous administrations, so no, mr. biden, president biden is an absolute failure on the world stage and the world is on fire because other leaders see him as being extremely weak and in effective. larry: i mean, it seems to me and you and i have talked a lot in recent years and i agree, started in afghanistan, it runs through putin and ukraine, goes right to the failure in iran and of course hamas, israel. the war continues to rage now. china is still on the march.
4:53 pm
not only with taiwan but the philippines. i mean, as you said, the world is on fire. now i'll ask you, in biden's current physical cognitive situation, whatever it may be, is he a national security risk, in your judgment? >> okay, we were just talking about this. politicians rarely can give one word answers, but larry, yes. he is a risk. again, people see him as being weak. we saw 13 of our precious service members that were killed outside afghanistan during that failed withdrawal. we saw just more recently earlier this year, three service members killed at tower 22 by a drone attack coming from iranian -backed terrorist groups, so we continue to see failure after failure and when president biden stated during the debate, just a little over a week and a half ago, that no service members have been killed under his watch.
4:54 pm
for heaven sakes we've seen dozens of service members killed under his watch, because of his weakness on the world stage and his inability to push back our adversaries. we need to return to the trump era of peace through strength. we know that we will see that in this upcoming year after president biden is out of office larry: senator, have you formally officially endorsed mr. trump? >> yes, i did that way back, larry. larry: oh, okay, i didn't know >> i think that we're all on board, especially when it comes to national security and this is a great area interest of mine. i do have a daughter that serves active duty. a son-in-law that serves active duty with my own military membership and watching how mr. trump handled our military. he would build it up but he also pushed back against our adversaries. he used other avenue, diplomatic
