elizabeth: really you do? aww. [laughter] larry, thank you so much. you make me laugh. the best person ever, larry kudlow. thank you so much. okay, gang, welcome to "the evening edit," i'm elizabeth macdonald. the latest developments this hour, we are monitoring kamala harris about to appear with her running mate choirks minnesota governor tim walz, for the first time in philadelphia. axios is reporting republicans breathing a sigh of relief, saying he's a radical, far-left, anti-business politician. now we've got fox news senior white house correspondent peter doocy, the one and only great peter doocy standing by live in philly with the latest. peter, good to see you. >> reporter: good to see you too, liz, good evening. and somebody at the harris campaign found a printer in the philadelphia area to make them some 10 foot x20 foot harris, walz banners that are around this 10,000-seat arena despite the fact that harris did not

[laughter] and you can talk about if you're the wokest or woker, but just stay more woke than less woke. >> but we can get out there, reach out, make the case. and for one thing, don't ever shy away from our progressive values. one person's socialism is another person neighborliness. elizabeth: really in neighborliness is taking other people's tough? really? we started that montage with a minnesota state lawmaker warning about picking governor walz. local and state lawmakers in minnesota say the harris-walz ticket is now the most radically far-left in u.s. history. he embraces socialism. the hill newspaper just now reported kamala harris, quote, made a mistake. their ticket is now the democrat socialist ticket. he's accused of enabling the an artist 2020 the riots, more than 1500 minnesota if businesses and
5:05 pm
also neighbor can -- neighbored were burnt to the ground. and trump's running mate, j.d. vance, really hammered walz campaigning today in philly. listen to this. >> he's been one of the most far-left radicals in the entire united states government -- [applause] what tim walz's selection says is that kamala harris has bent the knee to the far left of her party which is what she always does. elizabeth: well, look who's here making her debut, trump campaign senior adviser danielle alvarez. danielle, are you guys breathing a sigh of relief? how is the campaign going to explain if walz to voters and brand him? because democrats and the media now trying to say he's just, you know, just a folksy, midwestern moderate. show his record, how it indicates otherwise. what do you think, danielle? >> well, kamala harris loves venn diagram, and in the venn diagram, that is her vp pick. they are one9 and the same. they are far left. they are weak, they are faded.
5:06 pm
they are dangerously liberal. they both believe in open borders. he believes in sanctuary cities and sanctuary states. in fact, he gave college tuition and free health care to illegal immigrants. they are both soft on crime. we all a remember the devastation of those 2020 riots in minneapolis. i mean, they are terrible on on the economy. he has voted to raise taxes, and they both are against american energy independence. this is an absolute disaster for the american people, and it really speaks a lot about a the harris campaign. they passed up choices from pennsylvania and arizona for minnesota, a state that president donald j. trump has put on the map and that we are competing for. it just shows how weak their campaign is and how weak kamala harris is. elizabeth: so, you know, why pick minnesota when it's already likely to go democrat anyway? plus it's not been great at the
5:07 pm
presidential level. think hubert humphrey and walter mondale. when you look at kamala harris' voting record, she's to the left of bernie sanders. bernie sanders liked tim walz. voters need to know how she would handle the economy and the middle east. politico is reporting the market selloff threatens her run for the white house. hezbollah is launching drone and possible rocket attacks on israel. >> we have no idea how she would handle these issues because she has refused to do a media interview for 17 days, since ascending the throne to the top of the democrat ticket, since the coup against the sitting president. she has refused to take a single question and do an interview. instead, she's in pennsylvania where she's going to read comfortably from a teleprompter and not have to answer for the market crash yesterday, not have to answer for rising tensions in the middle east, not have to answer for the 99 terrorists that were arrested at the border
5:08 pm
and released into the united states. again, kamala harris is weak, failed askdangerously liberal -- and dangerously liberal, and she showed her priorities when she picked liberal tim walz as her running mate. elizabeth: danielle alvarez, preach appreciate you coming on. it's good to see you. a society that a does not put equity and inclusion at the center of it is certainly going to the eventually come to the places with where we're at. meth if elizabeth okay. that is camilla -- elizabeth: okay, that is kamala harris' veep choice. governor walz explaining away to 2020 riots that burned businesses and neighborhoods including minority neighborhoods to the ground. we're going to stay on this. we're digging deeper into his radical agenda. let's bring in pollster lee carter, a great writer too. lee, when you saw this, what was your first thought? if what -- how do you think voters are going to react to this choice? >> well, i think voters are actually, frankly, quite disappointed.
5:09 pm
i heard from a number of democrats and talked to democratic voters who were really hopeful she was going to do something that would bring the party more to the middle, somebody more like kelly, like shapiro from pennsylvania, and they're very disappointed in this pick. a number of people have no idea who he is, so it's republicans' job right now to frame him in a a different way. he comes across when people first see him as very folksy, very likable. he has a history as a teacher and a coach and mt. military reserves. all of those things make him very likable. but the fact of the matter is he is very, very far left, and that is exactly what this country does not need when they're thinking about how they want to focus on the economy, how they want to change immigration. he just -- his policies go right in the face of what most americans are looking for in this moment republicans are going to have to frame this up well. elizabeth: do you think he's out of touch with everyday americans? i mean, let's go through it. governor walz said rural america is, quote, mostly rocks and cows. he did severe covid lockdowns in
5:10 pm
minnesota, even set up a hotline, lee, during the covid -- his covid lockdowns that was so draconian, he wanted voters to snitch on their neighbors violating his stay-at-home orders even when they -- if they held things like small parties in their holmes or walked their dogs. then he delayed calling in the national guard in the 2020 riots in minnesota, and then the police union claimed he ordered the third precinct in minneapolis abandoned during the riots. he's denying. that he's for open borders and more. lee, so when voters start to really look at a this, how do you think they're going to react. >> i don't think they're going to react very favorably, but i don't think the republicans need to do a litany and a long list of all the things he's done wrong. nothing speakes louder than what he just said on the white dudes for kamala call a couple days ago where he said what some people call neighborly, i call socialism. he is really, really far to the left. and what republicans need to do is paint kamala as a continuation of the last three
5:11 pm
and a half years, him as a somebody who's going the pull her further to the -- to pull her further to the left. they need to focus on the issues, talk about how we're going to do better with the economy, with inflation. the market has been in freefall, people are not feeling safe, they're not feeling stable, and the republicans are -- can bring that back. the question needses to be do you feel bettered today than four years ago. if answer is no, trump is the answer. elizabeth: how will voters react to the divide over israel in the democratic party? cnn's van jones and democrat dean bill limbs, also nikki haley saying anti-israel movement is anti-semitic. how are the voters going to react to that? >> you know, i think it's going to be really tough because they're really catering to the far left who has this feeling that that they're pro, you know, pro-hamas in many ways and anti-semitic. and that is a real, real dagger in the hearts of many, many moderates and certainly with many people on the right. and i think it's going to get a lot of people galvanized to say
5:12 pm
this is not okay. anti-semitism is one of the last forms of accessible racism, and it is not okay, and i think this really needs to be pointed out. some people are saying shapiro didn't take the job because he didn't want it. i don't believe it. i don't believe that's the case. i don't think anyone who's running for office at that level would turn down this job, and if he can did, i want to hear from him exactly why. elizabeth: yeah, exactly why. you know, it's really the economy. here's -- let me just back up because, lee, you've been talking about this too. the national debt has ballooned by nearly $8 trillion, by about 50%, under the biden-harris administration. kamala harris was the tie breaker vote on nearly $3 trillion in new spending under president biden. two separate spending bills. we're seeing wartime spending without the war. we're seeing the consumer's really getting hit by hot money thrown into the u.s. economy triggering record inflation, triggering higher interest rates to9 battle that.
5:13 pm
while this biden white house with kamala harris did things like supporting lockdowns, did overregulation and x-ray blanket of overregulation, mandates going after u.s. energy. so they hit the the demand side and the supply side at the same time. so this is an historic, epic, colossal failure under this biden white house in how hay handled the the u.s. economy coming out of the lockdowns. >> there's no doubt about it. and, you know, sometimes when you think about the deficit and the debt, all of this and the way that government spends, it can be overwhelming to people to try to get your arms around these huge numbers. but what is true to people is they don't feel like they can make ends meet. they feel inflation. fewer than one in five americans feels they're okay financially, and that is not okay. that is something that needs to change and be turned around a, and that that starts with how the government spends our money and how we look at, you know, and the philosophy on how we deal with inflation and the economy overall. believe believe --

kamala harris-walz campaign that a governor walz is just a regular midwestern, folksy kind of guy. watch. >> walz appears to fit the all-american definition of a man from middle america; high school teacher, football coach, member of the army national guard before becoming a member of congress and now governor. >> i think this was a brilliant pick. >> to characterize him as left is so unreal. elizabeth: well, what's unreal is what nancy pelosi just said. joining us now, new york post political reporter jon levine and fox news contributor deroy murdock. first to you, do deroy. gentlemen, thanks for joining us. which is it, regular guy or radical? person's neighborliness. so there he is praigz socialism just last week. that sounds much closer to radical than anything else i can think of. elizabeth: jon, governor walz, he's also been accused of joining in on misleading america, aggressively attacking anyone reporting on biden's decline, calling -- reporting on that an attack on seniors when voter polls said is, voter polls were showing widespread concern about biden's obvious decline. watch this. >> look, my mom's 88, still living on the farm, drives herself. folks are able to do this, so i think this little bit of ageism that goes to this, if it's not that, it would be something else. they attack all of us on something. this is part of it. >> i mean -- elizabeth: it's ageism? >> i'm sure his 88-year-old mother is a nice lady, but i don't think she should be president just because she can drive a car. i remember him at the white house a month ago at the press conference, oh, biden is fine, i'm team biden forever. and now what do you know?

he's vice president. life comes at you fast, as the expression dose. but i think big picture, this is a gift to the trump-vance campaign. they had a very serious possible contender in governor shapiro. that would have taken pennsylvania off the table, and it would have radically reordered the race. now pennsylvania's going to be the biggest battleground state in 2024, and let me tell you, every single day pennsylvania voters are going to the hear about how kamala harris is against fracking, has fought against fracking her whole career. they're going to try to clean it up, but that's not the case. elizabeth: walz is against fracking too. he's also a big tax and spend guy. deroy, msnbc guest gene robinson said the fact that shapiro was not chosen is going to raise questions about the anti-israel, anti-semitic wing of the democrat party. cnn's van jones says this choice a is appeasing, quote, the anti-jewish bigots in the democratic party. >> that's quite a comment coming

from van jones who's not exactly a man of the right. this whole discussion about, well, shapiro's jewish, he's pro-israel, part of the israeli defense if forbes etc., i mean, the whole concern about let's appease the proof hamas, anti-semitic wing of the democratic party as if we're just like the pro-union caucus is really quite disturbing. and ultimately kamala said, well, let's keep those people happen. it does show exactly how far left and radical the democrats have become. elizabeth: final word. what do you think, jon? >> i mean, deroy said it all. this was an effort to keep the democratic convention in chicago calm. this is also the guy who was in charge of the state during the height9 of the george floyd riots, you know, and the whole defund movement that began at that time. he's going to have to answer for all that. there's so many liabilities, you don't have time in this show. elizabeth: wish we did, but we'll stay on it. thanks for joining us tonight, gentlemen. this story breaking late in the day, a pakistani national
