to spread. we don't want hezbollah involved and don't break out the abraham accords. >> neil: go beyond that, it gets to be problematic? >> look, a pause can be a matter of hours for that matter. you can have a situation where you've got humanitarian caravans bringing in aid that need like four or five hours to bring it in or you've got wounded or other people that you need to get out for a period of time. and it can be in specific corridors. there's a bunch of different ways to do it. but the overarching concern here is we do want to try and so does israel, by the way. israel is different than hamas and how they approach this. civilian population should matter. it's a matter of how you do it. >> neil: got it. great seeing you again. thank you for taking the time. >> thank you. >> neil: all right. adam smith. go ahead and try to take this measure up and see how it goes. meantime, here comes "the five." >> dana: hello, everyone. i'm dana perino along with brian

islamaphobia. so that's what you're seeing. >> dana: so this comes amid new questions if president biden is starting to cave to the far left over a cease-fire. the president now says that he'd support a pause in fighting israel's war against hamas after a heckler interrupted his remarks during a campaign event yesterday and demanded one. all right, brian, good of you to be here when jesse has some time off. he's at an event out in california, i understand. when you woke up this morning because you're up earlier than me, and you saw that biden had called for a pause. it seemed like a direct contradiction to what the white house spokesperson had said just last week. >> brian: he makes policies on the fly. i mean, you saw him at a fundraiser we weren't supposed to see where someone stood up and started yelling at him who says i'm jewish and i'm a rabbi and i think there should be a pause. he makes an explanation and says i think there should be a humanitarian pause. excuse me? did you just make policy? all of a sudden next thing you know, we have admiral kirby saying the same thing and there

should be a pause. has anyone realized we aren't running the war? even though we supply weaponry because they're our ally there's a give and take, we're not making the final decision. has anyone asked them? right now, hamas takes advantage of every single pause every single moment in order to rearm. they basically told us in that translated conversation when asked one of their hamas spokesman on the political wing, when asked why don't you build bomb shelters instead of just tunnels to president clinton -- protect the people. he said we build tunnels for our fighters. why should we care about the people? they don't care about our people. right now, you have to let the israelis do their thing. you have to let them finish off gaza. you know the last thing they want, even if you think the worst of them, it doesn't work to their advantage to have any collateral damage to have any innocent lives lost. pause doesn't work. they've made tremendous progress. i don't think we should be making policy without consulting

2:06 pm
about victims of hate crimes, they never mention who the victimizeers are. if you want to fight islamaphobia and we all do, i would love to see more prominent muslims speak out and condemn the atrocities against the jews. i think care did it at -- initially which i think is good on them. but it would go a long way if there were more voices added to that to truly reduce islamaphobia because silence equals violence. and it adds to islamaphobia when you don't see prominent muslims condemning it. also, i do think we're expecting too much from the american people. october 7th was the starting point for this war. so you can save your history lesson. october 7th begs for decisive response. we're in the here and now. in case you noticed, all terror gets justified by their version of history. that's always been the case. 9/11 was justified by history.

by a lot of people, right, so it never ends. and it's not america's scene. our attention is devoted to an ally that experienced the worst atrocity in recent history. you know, america is not interested in old feuds. it's interested in our friends now. you know, as for kamala, you know, do you think heading a comprehensive plan to fight islamic phobia is where she wants to shine right now? it's almost like you got to defend her because i feel like she's set up to do the most least relevant thing in the most hazardous of times. it's almost designed to remove her from anything sharp, you k know, we don't want her to do anything because we know she can't do it. it's meant to undermine her, i think. it's almost like a "fox & friends" producer wanting to undermine brian's career by

2:09 pm
it's equitable so they address islamaphobia in the same way. at the same time, they refuse to acknowledge who is perpetuating the anti-semitism and if you look around, the people who are screaming "gas the jews from the river to the sea" they're all waving palestinian flags. so while the white house is trying to make sure that all these bases are covered with their equity agenda, they're really running away from the real problem that they don't want to address here and that is that there's a lot of people in this country who are justifying what happened on october 7th and instead of really having a tough conversation about how that's wrong, they are now just saying, well, don't talk about it because that would be islamaphobic while they conflate the two groups. >> dana: in the last several days, there have been these anonymous democrats saying that president biden could be losing the muslim-american vote and there are a lot of muslim-americans that live in michigan. michigan is going to be a very

close race. and the -- i'm not -- maybe joe biden does think there should be a pause. it is curious that all of a sudden, he changes his mind and in a closed door fundraiser says he's for it but hadn't said publicly and yet, that leaks. >> so good to be back with everybody. i think what he said that he talked about -- i thought he talked about in the context of the pause for getting americans out of gaza. now, if it was indeed a policy change as brian and katie have noted in your intro noted, dana, i would agree with him. i thought he was talking about it in that context. saying things in a private fundraiser. i don't care if you're democrat or republican. i don't care if i support you or don't support you, you don't make policy at fundraisers and don't make policy when you're being heckled. what i know is what he's publicly stated as president. and i know there's small minority of democrats who are making statements and i disagree with. that the president disagrees with. the president seems to be unbothered, undeterred and unpersuaded by this batch of people in my party talking

foolish. i said yesterday, i think that no party has a monopoly on fools and bigots and haters in their party. and my party has some of those. as does the other party. but at this moment, i think a couple of observations. first, one of our in-house newspapers, wall street journal editorialized today that said at the end of the article if america can't help two allies, two allies defend themselves, the world will conclude that our adversaries are right about u.s. -- united states decline. i hope that speaker johnson is able to find ways to get his own caucus on board. i hope the democrats are able to stay on board. it appears that they are. i was pleased, also, dana to see in the senate, senators graham and sullivan take on senator tubberville. senator tubberville has every right to have whatever position he wants at any issue. he's bothered by the fact that women in the military are able to get an abortion. he's against that. i'm for that. you should not deny promotions in the military because you have that position. i was glad to see republicans
2:12 pm
stand up to him as well as democrats. but i would agree with the overarching comment here. if you're going to make a change in policy, brian, you shouldn't do it at a fundraiser. but i interpreted that, when he was talking about the pause to help americans get out of gaza which we clearly got to do. >> brian: do you think it matters that much? the action, if you say i'm going to pause because i'm tired of hearing explosions. i want to pause to get hostages out or americans out over through the gate. the fact is if you give a pause, you take a tactical advantage away from the victims in this and that is the israelis who are finally on the offensive. >> i wouldn't give a pause. if he wanted to give a pause to give americans out, i understand it. not a pause. >> dana: if that had happened today, we wouldn't be doing that today but a different segment and a joyful one. >> there was no pause. >> brian: we got to be able to handle ukraine and handle this. >> dana: they keep talking i'm going to keep going. republicans making explosive new claims about president biden

"the washington post" noting that this is increased by over 50% since 2018. and is now the fastest growing form of education. so dana, this makes sense to me that they're inserting the agenda into math. >> dana: if you watch and participant on "the five", i had an idea today, greg, there should be an a.i. assignment editor for the media and then they could save -- everybody could save some money. and all you have to do is have the a.i. robot watch "the five" and then in two to three years, you will write a story that says wow, isn't this interesting? more home schooling. who would have guessed? we are the assignment editor for america. but we're just like two or three years ahead of everybody.

this is where this is going. glenn yungin became governor of virginia saying i'm going to make sure advanced math and reading is taught in all of your schools. i just found this out, though. in virginia, one school had eight fentanyl overdoses in three weeks and nobody told the parents anything. so now, the governor says, well, we're going to have to do that, too. i think parents are hyperinvolved and they're saying, what else can we do? and if a home schooling option is available, and there's lots more tools now, it's much more popular. i'm not saying it's the easiest thing and i know that there's a lot of complications, but if you are in a situation where it's unsafe for your kids to go to school or not trusting what they're going to get and you think that you can do it better, of course, parents are going to make that choice. >> what do you think about the school district spending all the money on the big contracts while they distract from just math? >> so, i'm a firm believer that 2 plus 2 is 4 and 4 times 8 is 32.
2:44 pm
there's no woke or black or hispanic or white way to teach that. we should teach kids the basics. i love competition in education. it gives parents more choices. home schooling is a choice. and if a parent is able to do that, they should have every right to do it and the school system should be supportive and provide the resources for it. the group of people who get talked about every election at every level, local, state and federal are kids. they get talked about how we want to improve their education. they have no vote. we have failed them consistently for the last 70 years. there's some schools, don't get me wrong, there are a lot of teachers and we sometimes bash teachers i think a little too much. but students, people 18 and under, get short changed every election cycle because we don't improve their schools. and when anyone comes to introduce competition and give more choice, i give a bunch of adults who fight and squabble over it, when the kids really are the ones that would be the beneficiaries if we allow more choice and more competition. so i applaud any competition
2:45 pm
that produces more choice which produce better results. if this is a better result home schooling is better result for these kids, give it to them. if a voucher is a better result, give it to them. if public education is the right thing in the community, let that be the case. the students need to win. only way they win is parents have more choices. >> you like this idea? >> greg: i certainly do. well said harold ford jr. right now, you're seeing the educational equivalent of a pincher move that i mentioned in the b block, brian. >> brian: i remember like it was yesterday. >> greg: on the one hand, you have a toxic public education system that contaminates brains while you prevent escape from that system by stamping out school choice wherever possible. wherever it rises you hear the left try to destroy it. who is exempt from this move snt politicians and administrations who send their little brats to private. you know, it's great to be the warden's son because your son is not in prison. we need to introduce a law and i don't know you how do it. maybe it's an executive order when i'm president in 2028.
2:46 pm
deny, if you deny choice to others, your choice will be denied as well. so if you are against school choice, your kids have to go to public. it's like the anti-choice leader is like the -- is no different than a pro war hawk who makes sure his kids never fight. or a hardcore pro lifer who uses abortion as birth control which doesn't exist but it's the same action. >> brian? >> brian: i'm going to build up my optimistic tone from a couple of blocks ago and say one of the good things about a terrible situation with the pandemic is everybody became aware of this looking over the shoulder of your kids saying what are you le learning? what are you doing? what is going on here? something good happened and i think people are going to change. but also i think is minorities are also went from 3.3% of those home schooled up to 16% so the parents are engaged. that's not good enough for my kid. i want to raise the stakes. home schooling is big. it's a big responsibility for the family. i will never put down teachers.
2:47 pm
i think they're underpaid and underappreciated. give them the summers off. they need it. i have no problem with that. but i will say this -- the best thing to happen to a public school would be competition because if all of a sudden those vouchers could go to the school down the block or the charter school around the block, all of a sudden, why are we not having people? i'll have to lay off teachers. if we don't get better and respond to the public, we'll lose teachers and superintendents. and we'll respond that way. and i just think competition works. and i think that greg saying, i wish i said that. are you saying that, too? >> greg: i was. i was thinking how much better "fox & friends" would be if there was competition. >> brian: right. i know. we need more people on "fox & friends." >> all right. coming up, lousy tippers are about to pay a price next time they get something delivered. life, diabetes. each day is a unique blend of going, doing, and living. glucerna protein smart with 30 grams of protein
