>> steve: it is such a big crowd. such a big crowd today because everybody wants to talk about the big election. live from manassas where right now it is 53 degrees. it is a great day to vote. thank you for coming, everybody. [cheers and applause] why are they here? for this reason. it is 7:02 on the east coast and election day in some states, including here in the commonwealth of virginia where polls have been open for an hour and two minutes. i'm here at the juke box diner in manassas talking to voters, as the republican party looks to flip the balance of power in the general assembly. they want to hold the house and flip the senate, brian. [cheers and applause] >> brian: steve, off year election but there is so much to learn from the results to get us ready for 2024. [chanting] flip the senate, hold the house.

>> brian: the 37 states casting ballots in elections. polls open in new jersey, ohio, and kentucky. >> lawrence: a lot of eyes on kentucky with tight gubernatorial race. >> brian: alexandria hoff is live with today's big races. >> hey, good to be with you. the latest chapter in the virginia playbook, the governor glenn youngkin playbook as many see it, will be written today. and the governor is not in the ballot. his agenda is. and if both chambers are taken today by the g.o.p. that will push forth the priorities that the governor has really been looking to do. that includes parental choice in schools, bolstering public safety, and implementing a 15-week abortion limit with exception. so, today all 140 seats in virginia's general assembly are up for the taking. republicans control the house of delegates and democrats control the state senate.

governor youngkin has been heavy on the campaign trail. >> first of all, thank you for coming out because we have work to do and what are we going to do? we're gonna hold the house and flip the senate. hold the house, and flip the senate. hold the house, and flip the senate. >> that's what his team says. it's been all about. in new jersey democrats are vying to keep control of both the legislative chambers. 120 seats up for grabs there republicans want to see 2021 wins drive some change. then did you go down to mississippi, the tightest competition for governor in 20 years. that's the last time a democrat won that position. republican governor tate reeves is fighting to keep his position over democratic challenger brandon presley. reeves is still considered the favorite. but there is some star power in the other side. presley the second cousin mississippi born elvis presley. no cleared a vantage in kentucky where democratic governor andy beshear is trying to shake president biden's popularity problem. the president lost the state by

25 points in 2020. and republicans hope that that will reflect in a win today for attorney general daniel cameron seeking to take charge of a state that is otherwise deep red. so, coming up in the next hour, we are going to here back in virginia from governor glenn youngkin. is he also going to be waiting to see today if it will pay off the push he has made and invest. he has made in early voting and destigmatizing that among republicans. for democrats, the big issue here has been abortion. virginia is the only state in the south now to have not put forth any significant regulations at this point. but glenn youngkin has been saying that this 15-week abortion limit is not a ban. it's a limit with exceptions. he feels that this could be a unifier that republicans nationwide could learn from. guys? >> ainsley: thank you so much, alexandra. interesting abortion seems to be a big issue all around the country. i know that's a hot topping in virginia she mentioned and mississippi and ohio.

they are going to vote yes or no or that issue, the abortion access and also legalizing recreational marijuana. >> brian: the determine, steve, i think that is so key, they don't like the idea of pro-life, pro-choice. they want to say reproductive rights. now the republicans come back and say how about when the baby feels pain? so, they believe the baby feels pain after 15 weeks. that's why you put the number at 15 weeks. and then how are you going to come back is it okay for a baby -- a fetus to feel pain? how do you win that debate? >> steve: right. and, brian, that's exactly right. and so it's kind of a gamble here in the commonwealth of virginia to even put abortion out there. and for a lot of people, you know, it's just complicated. what the democrats are doing is making it very easy. what they're doing and they want to continue to control the senate here in the commonwealth. what the democrats are saying is, you know what?

if the republicans win the house and the senate, do you know what they're going to do? they're going to take away your abortion rights. and so that is how they are running this race. in the meantime, glenn youngkin, who alexandria, and she did a great job setting everything that's going on here, he's not on the ballot, but he has put his heart and soul into trying to hold the house and flip the senate as you heard folks chanting a little while ago. >> lawrence: he is really the face of this operation. one of these that the governor is doing he is going into all different communities. >> ainsley: is he. black outreach and hispanic outreach. going to people that traditionally wouldn't vote for republicans and really defending the ideas, especially when it comes today occasion. brian, as you noted. he wouldn't allow himself to be boxed in on the pro-life, pro-choice message. he threw it right back to the democrats and say well, county baby feel the pain? what voter is going to be -- who

is going to be for babies feeling pain? and i think the democrats weren't really prepared for a response to that, ainsley. >> ainsley: is he going to be on our show a little bit later. we will definitely ask him about all of this. he has definitely done so many tv appearances, i saw him on fox last night and on our show this morning. this is very important for him not only for the state of virginia. he of course as a republican wants to have that trifecta. if he decides to run for president counsel the road, if they take the house and the senate. >> lawrence: as you know, steve, in the commonwealth, they only give one term. he wants to finish off his agenda strong. >> ainsley: that's right. he is a big businessman, too. >> steve: sure. absolutely. he used to run that big financial services company. so, there are so many people here who are keeping an eye on him. and keep in mind, if he is able to run the table, and win the house, and win the senate, and

control of the state house, rather the governor's mansion as well, with unified government, here in the commonwealth, so many of the big donors are going to be saying, you know, glenn youngkin ran the table in a bluish state. maybe he is the guy to be the alternative to donald trump in 2024. we'll ask the governor about that when he joins us in about an hour. keep in mind, it's really late in the cycle for somebody to get in. but, maybe, maybe he could right away. we are still as of today exactly one year from election day 2024. >> ainsley: i think he would be smart to wait if foyer more years. >> lawrence: especially polling in swing states donald trump is beating joe biden. now that the polling has shifted i don't think that's going to be something for candidates to run on. >> brian: trump is now showing is he electable. and so is nikki haley, and maybe

desantis comes out positive, too. not like trump. >> ainsley: he won, what was it, it was one of the polls in the swing states, biden only won one, wisconsin. trump won five. now to the white house -- >> steve: keep in mind, i was just going to say keep in mind, joe biden won in 2020 this state by 10 points. then a year later, glenn youngkin won. so, that is why we are here in the commonwealth of virginia today to talk about that. plus, i was able to take our white house correspondent out for dinner last night. >> ainsley: your son. funny you should bring him up. let's talk about the white house race a little more. florida governor and 2024 presidential candidate ron desantis picking up a major endorsement in iowa. >> lawrence: peter doocy is live from the white house with the latest on the 2024 election. so what has been the reception so far, peter, of the endorsement? >> peter: well, it's interesting. and kind of like you guys were just talking about it, every single primary poll has donald trump with a huge lead over the

rest of the field. but, nobody has voted yet. nobody has caucused yet. he is not the nominee at this point there are many high profile republicans trying to make sure that there is someone else who can rise to the top, be the party's standard-bearer. the latest official, iowa's governor kim reynolds. >> someone, who most importantly can win, and that person is ron desantis. [applause] and i am so proud to stand here tonight and give him my full support and endorsement for president of the united states of america. [cheers and applause] >> pete: this is the time in the cycle where we will start to figure out how much endorsements matter. arkansas governor sarah huckabee sanders is going to back her old boss, president trump. and president biden has been on the road a lot more with official events than campaign events. and he has got a new, very unlikely defender as whispers grow that maybe biden wouldn't

be the guy on the ballot next year. and this person is sticking up for biden and lashing out at gavin newsom. >> right now there are two -- there are two additional democrats running for pennsylvania -- excuse me, running for president right now. one, one is a congressman from minnesota. the other one is the governor of california. [laughter] they are both running for president, but only one has the guts to announce it. >> and as president biden wakes up this morning and looks out the window of the residence, if he points out at the street, he is going to see the d the fencee still defaced. pressure washer trying to get the fake blood that the anti-israel protesters smeared all over the gates on saturday night there are still black tarps covering it. they apparently have been

unsuccessful in getting that mess off the fence line so far. three days later. back to you. >> brian: peter, just your opinion here, i thought if you touched the white house there would be guys in black outfits that would wrestle you to the ground. i'm stunned they were able to breach the fence, defile the perimeter. they knew this was 100,000 people in washington outside right now spray paint and wrote anything on this i would expect to be in handcuffs in about five minutes. there might be a dog biting me. a secret service dog biting at me. so, at some point, and this is a photo that i took with my iphone on the way in the morning. at some point a decision was made not get these guys off the fence. we do see pennsylvania avenue

closed. a lot during the day. somebody drops a backpack. somebody is misbehaving. they will clear everybody off pennsylvania avenue. a decision was made somewhere in the chain of command, not to keep people back and to let this particular demonstration come all the way up to the gates. but, it's going to take the national park service more than a day to get this paint or whatever this substance is down. that's a mess. >> ainsley: peter, after russia invaded ukraine, the russian agency on the upper west side was covered in all that red paint, too. it took, i mean, i want to say a month for them to be able to remove it. and can you still see some of it on there, because it's like a stucco material or a cement, i don't know what they're using, but it takes a long time. they have to get the right company. you would think if you are the right house you would have that cleaned up quickly. >> lawrence: peter, it wasn't just the paint. i saw them with the -- with the flags poking through the gate of

the white house barrier. >> steve: yesterday, it looked like there were -- as you look down the fence line, there was a lot of stuff glued to the individual iron bars. a lot of that looks like it's been removed. but when you have part of the white house that's draped in a black tarp it, almost has the look of like state funeral or like they are mourning something. but it's really just because they are cleaning up this big mess was that left behind by anti-israel protesters. >> brian: embarrassed by it. >> steve: peter, you said if you went out with a can of spray paint you would be arrested. but, also, a dog might be biting you. you said the secret service dog. there is always a possibility it could be the biden's dog. hey, there is that doocy kid. >> brian: commander was exiled. >> ainsley: they did exile him. >> steve: doocy, go. >> ainsley: i'm glad you had a

little bit, the anti-semitism that has been demonstrated by tlaib and omar, it's coming out to roost. number of years now. it's got much, much worse. people are scared, and they're angry. >> carley: community members held a vigil for paul kessler hours after his death. new emails ruling the department of security created a quote disinformation group at stanford ahead of the 2020 election. a house judiciary report confirming speech was censored ahead of president biden's vicks tri over former president trump. the report saying, quote: this pressure was largely directed in a way that benefited one side of the political aisle. true information posted by republicans and conservatives was labeled as misinformation while false information posted by democrats and liberals was largely unreported and untouched by the censors.

and house republicans are reintroducing resolution to censure michigan congresswoman rashida tlaib over anti-israeli comments. one democrat said he would support that censure. >> congresswoman has a first first amendment right she can say whatever she wants. at the same time congress has the ability to express their displeasure with a fellow colleague of ours calling for the destruction of a country. >> carley: the michigan congresswoman responding saying quote it's a shame my colleagues are more focused on silencing me than they are on saving lives. many have shown me that palestinian lives simply do not matter to them. and finally it is a great day in history oh because today it is my birthday? happening right now, idf fighters are targeting more hamas tunnels, overnight israeli forces took over a strong hold in the northern part of the gaza strip. trey yingst joins us live in southern israel with the latest. hey, trey. >> hey, guys, good morning. i just got off a briefing with the israeli military to get the latest information about what is taking place inside the gaza strip behind me. we understand that israeli forces are engaged in battles with hamas militants. they say overnight they destroyed a command center where there were anti-tank guided missiles and other weapons. richard heck, the lt. colonel and spokesman for the military uncoverevealing what they uncov. 157 rifles by the israeli military 43 machine guns, five

anti-aircraft missiles and three anti-tank missiles. just a sense of the weapons that the israeli forces are up against as they operate and push deeper into gaza. we also understand the israelis created an evacuation corridor today through the main road from the north to the south of gaza. the they say there was a window that was open and hundreds of palestinian civilians are now taking the warnings from the israeli military and heading south. that is a significant development and a positive development amid this horrific story one month after that massacre in southern israel. the israelis continue their response against the gaza strip. we do know there are more than 2 million palestinians living there guys, back to you. >> ainsley: thank you so much, trey. here in the u.s. a leaked memo revealing what state department staffers really think of the white house's response to the conflict in israel. it reads quote when israel supports settler violence and illegal land seizures or employees excessive use of force against palestinians we must communicate publicly that this

goes against our american values so that israel does not act with impunity. g.o.p., alabama senator katie brit joins us now. senator, thank you for coming in for us. >> thank you for having me. i really appreciate it. >> ainsley: what's your reaction with that. >> listen, it seems like they are following barack obama. and it's completely and totally unacceptable. this is what happens when you have weakness in the white house. whether you have a weak commander-in-chief. we see what is happening overseas. we can see what is happening at home. here you have people in the state department. we have seen the protesters on the street. but to see that we have them in the state department is alarming and unacceptable. we have to stand firmly with israel. those people calling for a cease-fire need to realize there was a cease-fire, it was octobe. and hamas has chosen this path and their path is brutality. it is completely and totally beyond comprehension what i saw when i was in israel two weeks ago. and anyone who thinks that they are not going to do this again, not only is wildly misled, but

barbaric. we watched them murder children in front of their parents. we watched them burn parents aalive in front of their kids. rape women, pull their clothes off. bash men's head with sledge hammers, it is absolutely unthinkable that anyone could behave like this. we must firmly stand with israel and eradicate hamas. >> ainsley: yeah, absolutely. now, you also are doing a book tour this week to talk about your journey. >> yes. >> ainsley: you grew up in a very small town in alabama. >> i did. >> ainsley: two children at home 13 and 146789 talked about living in washington and kids are back home. they supported you and that's the title of your book, correct? >> it is. my children are why i am doing. this that's why i'm serving in the united states senate. that's what pushed me to do this. it's next generation. that's what this book is about. my kids, when i tried to tell them you know, i don't know if i should run. my son sat me down first, then followed by my daughter. when i tried to tell her it was a really hard thing to run for the u.s. senate. she looked back at me and says

momma, doesn't god call you to do hard things? i think right now that message is more important than ever. reaffirming the values that this nation -- made this nation so great. those of faith, family, and freedom. telling life's lessons. so a lot of times we see the peeks of people's lives, particularly a social media era. in my book i talk about my valleys. that's where god carves you up and if you were honest how you got there you are more prepared to walk forward and serve his purpose for you. and each of you was has a different purpose. but we're called to be in the arena. and it is my hope that this book inspires the young and the young at heart to have a new lease on life and to be engaged because we need them. >> ainsley: absolutely. what a beautiful message. you are raising your kids to follow the lord and i think that's beautiful. the book is called "god calls us to do hard things. lessons from the alabama wire grass. which is a small little town she is from in alabama. >> that's right. >> ainsley: senator, thank you so much.
