in d.c.? is everyone going nuts? >> i think what you are seeing is the ramifications of this type of clown show that's been going on for so long that things naturally have to escalate. you knock off one speaker and everybody loses their minds. this is one of those situations where i will defend a little bit of what is going on. i think these are people who genuinely dislike each other and have not figured out a way to navigate to that in this particular moment. when mark wayne stands up like that, he has a universal sign of a guy that was actually ready to punch somebody. four women, the equivalent of taking off your earrings. and then when it comes to the mccarthy thing, i don't know if it was a security guy what actually happened there in the jumble. everyone is on edge. everyone is absolutely on edge.

the reason is they are bouncing from chaotic see our moment to chaotic cr moment without any kind of resolution. the mccarthy experience with him getting vacated in no way loose indenting of the energy that was caught up in d.c. if there is a change that somehow people could come together after it and be able to work together, that was chaotic, but let's move on. no one is moving on. >> if i do not like your answers , i will be elbowing you on your way out. we have an incentive structure where all these members of congress are looking for viral moments. a couple weeks ago there was an article about nancy maces handbook being released. she is spending more than one third of her budget on marketing a third of her house office budget. things like showing up with the scarlet letter a. not a student of hawthorne, as far as i can tell. that is because, unfortunately, we have a culture on the hill where politicians get attention for behaving out of line. >> the media is partially to blame because we award that. >> i'm not sure legacy media is to blame because i think that it is, i think it is how they interact with their constituents on social media. how they raise money from people all over the country. the new communities of supporters of these people. >> and i just interjects? the jamaal bowman moment.

personally for more than 20 years, the frustration is palpable because he was a former staffer in all of these different entities. he is someone who worked for john cornyn, he's been around for a long time. the business of congress is something that is been almost entirely ignored on all the different priorities he has. obviously, the border is a major factor there. again, circling back, there was some hope at least along these conservatives and someone who supported mccarthy in that original deal they cut him and supported them until the end, they hoped they could move on some of these things that they would have some kind of progress it is the business as usual in the same kind of bills they were passing before. >> doesn't chip roy deserve some credit for standing up?

>> of course he deserves credit. any politician willing to speak out always deserves credit. i actually am not sure that that moment will translate to democratic talking point wins in the way people may think. it is a little bit hard to understand spirit i think that that moment is a little strange. >> they don't have context. we get seven seconds of that. republicans have done nothing. >> that is true. republican congressman in his own words. i think republicans this week have given democrats a lot of material. >> fair enough. it is not an easy thing to deal. challenged the republicans succumb to the floor. mike johnson avoided a government shutdown. maybe you heard something about this by pushing through another one of these stopgap funding measures. keeping the governor functioning until early next year.

is it the same thing that led to kevin mccarthy's ousting? >> it is exactly the same thing. you've got a new coach. he has been here for just seven years. six-seven years. he has not build up the enemies that have been there longer. it is an open question of what he is going to do when he gets out of that honeymoon. and he is facing all the same challenges that mccarthy was facing, republicans are facing generally. having such a slim margin in just one half of the body of congress. >> as with kevin mccarthy, democrats bailed out the new speaker because all but two of them voted yes on the stopgap funding measure. i have a sense of déjà vu. is the press sick of this story?

did not get the sky is falling kind of coverage that the crises did. it vanished pretty quickly. >> i think there's a lot more going on now. i think that the conflict, the israel, gaza, hamas is creating a lot of pressure. getting closer to 2024. people are shifting into an orientation around the election. i think the sports med affair or is a good one. this is more like young love and relationships. you cannot make it work and then you realize you are doing all of the behaviors that could have made that previous relationship successful. house republicans in kevin mccarthy is out.

since then, our lives have turned upside down. from a place of deep pain. >> bring them home. bring them home. howard: all the media attention being brought to these rallies around the country, what was the impact of this huge pro-israel demonstration. >> i think the impact was significant, especially in the minds of those that have witnessed those. across the country without a natural response. you can hear the response that happens within the media and commentators saying this is not representative of the way that most americans feel. i think it was very important to see, particularly on a weekday where congress was in town i could see it for themselves.

that was a significant moment. the pro hamas demonstrations will not stop anytime soon. >> i saw several people interviewed who said they are also concerned about civilian and gaza. the pro- palestinian demonstrations supporting the destruction of israel. >> i think the march for israel, obviously, they are united in a cause around the jewish state. but, they are not a monolith in terms of how they think various aspects should be handled and how the u.s. government in particular should intervene or not whether it is support or a pause or not, a whole range of things. there were a lot of reports about how the views were. in contrast to folks in these processes fire rallies. they have one cause. they are pursuing an overton

when the guardian republish osama bin laden 21-year-old letter to america, it went viral on tiktok with many young people embracing the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. >> i am not about to sit here and act like he is just the worst person in the world when america has literally been terrorizing people since the beginning of history. howard: since taking down the letters although it is still accessible and tiktok is deleting the videos. griff jenkins joining us now. i find it mind boggling a profoundly depressing that there could be sympathy and support among tiktok is for the man that killed nearly 3000 americans with hijacked airplanes. >> that is exactly right. i printed out the letter. all 12 pages and try to read it through the eyes of the young people. the worst terrorist that could end up at the conclusion that

talking up nikki haley who has done well in all of the debates and coming up in the polls. you think dents are overplaying our chances? >> a primary where very little has changed. the main story has been ron desantis who looked like a reasonably close second place. we are cheap dates. it does not take much to get us excited. 5% to 8%. this is exciting. it's not that exciting. >> but it's all we got. >> talk that the next debate may only have two candidates. a little bit of talk that trump may jump in. really, of those three, one is still way ahead of the other two >> we do have to keep that in mind. i would be surprised if donald trump showed up. not great for the american public. why the fascination with nikki

the global criticism that israel has drawn for storming the hospital? >> how we, it was definitely the discovery that we heard the idf say we would find for days before the idf actually moved into the hospital, the largest hospital in gaza. they needed to wait because of the number of patients inside. we have heard them say that there is a hamas stronghold. a command center underneath the hospital. what we have seen, undeniably the weapons we have found in the hospital you just show there in the mri room showing not only the weaponry, but the grab bags that hamas militants would have taken including weapons, grenades and there. they made a specific point in this video when they started filming saying this would be a one-shot, there are no edits here to prevent conversations from playing out in an international stage about is

this edited? did the idf plant any of this. that was a goal to make sure that this video that really was a seamless video. but we have not seen as a major command center that hamas said was blown. they did find something more in those tunnels and they would provide some of that evidence that has not been provided just yet today. there are still several hours to go. this is the start of the week here in israel so we will likely hear from more israeli officials tonight. howard: i don't think it is a coincidence that two hostages were found dead outside of the hospital grounds. that was part of the concern. i agree that because they have not gone into the tunnels for concerns about booby-traps it is not definitive certainly but although they have found such tunnels at other children's hospitals and other children's schools. i know it is a more complicated explanation that israel attacks hospital.

what does the media have a responsibility to play this is much as a previous stories. why do doctors need grenades? >> finding any kind of weaponry like that in the hospital is extremely alarming given that any moment someone could open the bag thinking their opening medical supplies and be unaware that there is a grenade in one of those bags. especially when people are coming to hospitals like that to get treated. we have seen in some of these hospitals medical equipment right next to weapons. there is two things playing out at the same time. of course there are doctors there that are not associated with this whatsoever. we heard the un talking to the doctors and medics and organizations there at the same time. there is an undeniable amount of evidence that we have seen militants in those hospitals and using some of that. essentially as a human shield is what the israeli government has been calling. >> patients getting killed as
