5:43 am
i didn't know what to do. i know same day students were were calling for day of resistance to coincide with the day of rage by hamas. i was terrified and my fellow students were, as well. i had informed my fellow students that there are people in this student bar association spreading hamas propaganda and what followed next was a witch hunt after me. >> brian: by who? >> rutgers itself. >> brian: the law school? >> the law school opened an investigation of me and simultaneously the student bar association opened up impeachment inquiries into me. they attempted several times to s suspend their own constitution
5:44 am
to throw me out of the student bar association. they opened an investigation without talking to me or asking what is going on. >> brian: this is unbelievable. that is why you are involved, right? >> that is right. contacted us to ask for support and help. we represent people against antisemitism. the university seems to be pursuinga a witch hunt against yoel. >> brian: you can go to school, you are being investigated. you feel it now, antisemitism, did you feel it before october 7? >> i didn't, my goal was to go to school, lay low, become a lawyer. i was elected by my peers and found myself in this group sharing this hamas propaganda

ja >> ainsley: the "new york post" is calling out president biden's 81 st birthday blues. >> a poll shows donald trump leading joe biden for the first time in a hypothetical nation-wide head-to-head match-up. >> brian: same thing with all the polls. when this is stunning. with trump leading the birthday boy by four percentage points in 18-24. he lost by 12 in the same
5:55 am
bracket. >> lawrence: fox news contributor karl rove is with us. thank you for getting up this morning. the big question is, is this just early polling or is the president really in trouble? >> well, a lot of political pros will say it's early polling and not determinative of what will happen in 2024. this is not just about the issues but the persona. if you take a look at it in some of these polls, 3/4 of the american people, including 69% of democrats, think he is too old. majority of americans think he lacks the stamina and mental acuity to be president. people are looking at his performance in office through the performance of him as an individual and when they see him as weak, too old, and lacking what it takes to be a strong, effective leader in the oval office. that won't change. >> ainsley: when it comes to the
5:56 am
independents 30% approve. 63% disapprove. that can really hurt him in the election, right? >> absolutely. i will tell you, what they are thinking is barack obama had some similar numbers, not as bad in 2011 and 2012 when faced by mitt romney. what he did was went on the attack against mitt romney. he disqualified mitt romney as being presidential. that worked. in a narrow victory for barack obama in the 2012 election. the problem for biden in this election is he isn't seen as an effective leader or strong as youthful and energetic. he is not -- he certainly doesn't have the political skills barack obama had to pull that off. so i think the biden white house and team biden political operation is thinking we can duplication 2012 and 2004 and win re-election by going after the opponent. as george w. bush did against
5:57 am
john kerry and barack obama did against mitt romney. they are overestimating the president's talents. his problem is the american people looked at him and said he isn't up to the job. it is really hard to reverse that once that sinks in. >> steve: in 2020, he essentially ran in the basement. and he ran on covid, and he ran on i'm not donald trump. well now covid is out of the equation but now they are putting all the eggs in he is not donald trump. as it turns out we've seen joe biden for three years. a lot of people are nostalgic for donald trump's policy. >> one important component of the 2020 election. he was basically saying i'm going to be a transitional figure and restore normality, expect me to be there for one term and a new generation will rise up. think about it. we have for the last 32 years governed by baby boomers in 1992 or in the case of joe biden the
5:58 am
generation before the baby boomers. before that we were governed for 32 years by men from the greatest generation that fought world war ii starting with john f. kennedy and ending with george h.w. bush. for 64 years we've been governed by two generations and time to turn to a younger generation. >> brian: are you afraid of pushing too hard and getting a more formidable opponent? >> i look at this as an analyst and looking at it as an american. is it the best thing for our country to have somebody in office who is not up to the job? the democrats would be smart. he may be the one democrat who can lose to donald trump. that's what the polls are saying. if you take a look at the other polls when they put somebody else in a generic democrat beats donald trump. the democratic president does not. >> newsom doesn't.
5:59 am
>> he may have great hair and from california and we all see what happened to california. i don't think -- you would see whitmer, murphy of new jersey, cooper of north carolina, pits kehr. amy klobuchar. >> they have the capacity to be formidable. joe biden doesn't. he is flawed as a candidate. will the things that worked for him in 2020? i'm not threatening, normal, ordinary democrat. i'm up to the job. all of those things have been blown out. particularly the problems he has as being seen as too old and not up to the job aren't going to go away they'll get worse. >> he lost me in afghanistan. >> lawrence: we want to remember first lady rosalynn carter, the life and legacy. what can you tell us about her? >> well, we remember that she helped restore our confidence in our country at a broken moment. she and her husband were christian values and restored honor and dignity to the white

house. committed her life to service. she was a key ally, aide, adviseor to her husband when he left office and chose his new career post presidency helping people around the world. particularly focused on habitat for humanity. what she did to highlight mental health at a time where it was not particularly popular to talk about was admirable. god bless her and god receive her home. >> steve: she was 96 years old. rest in peace. thank you for joining us. well, we'll be back tomorrow same time, same channel. brian, you are busy in six minutes. >> yeah, in 14 seconds i will start the radio show. if i can remember to stay within myself. >> steve: you start at six minutes after the hour. >> ainsley: have the good day, you see you tomorrow. >> so long. >> bill: good morning, everybody. president biden turning 81
