we have news, joey. >> joey: israeli military detaining director of al-shifa hospital in the gaza strip as they say they have evidence that shows the hospital served as hamas command center. >> carley: smoke has been rising as temporary ceasefire and hostage release set for this morning are delayed. >> lawrence: our friend trey yingst has been on the ground in southern israel and he's there now and will give us information about the updated timeline. what do you know? >> trey: first of all, happy thanksgiving. here on the ground in southern israel, anticipation is growing around that expected hostage deal that could see more than 50 israelis released by hamas in the gaza strip in exchange for release of palestinian prisoners in israeli prisons. there appears to be a hold-up,

disagreement between israel and hamas over one of the terms. we were looking at a large-scale ceasefire for a swap of prisoners. there was access to other hostages inside the gaza strip. israelis wanted to get more information about the hostages and make sure they were checked on by the red cross. it appears hamas is stepping back and it is causing tension and might be behind the delay we're seeing right now. israelis are saying they will continue the fight against hamas until all the leadership is destroyed. prime minister netanyahu saying yesterday, i want to be clear, the war is continuing, the war is continuing, we will continue until we achieve our goals. the goal to get hostages back and destroy and delegitimize hamas inside gaza. so many families waiting for information to see if loved ones

will be on the list of hostages released if the deal does go forward. we are talking about women and children. the whole world is watching. just yesterday national security council john kirby said this about the situation. >> we're going to be watching this like a hawk, devil in the details aexecution, we'll be watching to meet our commitment. we recognize one party to this agreement is a terrorist oergsz, terrorist organization that hasn't abiding by commitment they made. >> trey: it is an organization fighting among the civilian population inside gaza. we're learning there is a neighborhood in northern part of the gaza strip that faced evacuation order. israelis dropping leaflets telling civilians to get out of the way. >> carley: trey yingst live on

the. and we are having first lady herzog. this hostage negotiation has been extremely difficult and israel is making serious concessions here. do you have reservations about the terms of this agreement? >> first of all, we will -- we are all waiting to see that it goes through. you know, some of the israelis have been living on october 7 and we are still there until the hostages are back, every single one of them. >> lawrence: first lady, i'm sure you have had and we're grateful for you to join us this thanksgiving morning. you have had an opportunity to talk to the victims and family members of hostages, when you talk to them, what do they tell

you? >> it is very difficult. it is the most difficult conversations i've had in my life. the families are in the unknown, they don't know if their dear ones are alive or not. we're talking here about babies, 10-month-old baby there. there are young girls, four years old. it is difficult to imagine. and these conversations have been very difficult. there is the hope and we try, the president and i to give families the hope and the knowledge that israel will do everything to get the hostages back and have them all safely back at home. >> joey: in the terms of the deal as has been reported, israel is saying to the victims of those 150 that may be

released, if they take issue with them being released, they can formally request that specific offender not be released. have you seen anything go through and ask for that or what is reaction from the israeli people? >> no. first of all, we're not talking about 150, the number is only 50 out of 240. i wish we were talking about 150. i must say the families are very united and very generous with each other. families that know their loved ones, who are men, who are older than 18, who are not young children or elderly or women, know they will not see their dear ones this time around and

yet have expressed happiness and joy for the other families. the families have been fabulous, they demand to see their dear ones back and that is what we're all demanding. this has been a very difficult time in our country. you know, we will be marking this coming saturday november 25th is the un day for international prevention of violence against women and marks seven weeks from the terrible saturday we faced on october 7. and we usually talk about domestic violence. we bring victims of domestic violence or any violence against women to speak. nowadays we can't think of anything else but the

gender-based sexual assault of the terrorists that horrible day. >> carley: two or three days after october 7, we aired a press conference that was eye-opening, the press conference, media organizations from all over the world and it was incredibly hostile. israel, like i said two or three days after a horrific terror attack took place. where did this hostile ity. what do you say to the media members who have forgotten about the horrific atrocities that took place against your people? >> i agree with you. it's unimaginable. the atrocities that are barbaric

attack something we have not seen, not only us israelis, the world has not seen since the second world war. it is disappointing some of the world, not everyone, many people and definitely people in the united states across two aisles of congress, no politics here. understand and come out with moral clarity. it has been very difficult and i don't want on this very happy for you holiday morning to describe some of the atrocities that have been committed during that day. your viewers should not be subjected to that. to us, this is an everyday reality for the past set weeks. we hear witnesses and see footage and it has been very

difficult and it is difficult to understand how people do not adhere to the facts. >> lawrence: madam first lady, i got an invitation by your ambassador to come to the united nations to watch an hour of the footage of what took place on the body camera footage, it is horrific. i thought it was necessary to share what we witnessed that day. you talk about silence from the international community about the rape of women and the bodies that betrayed these women. and you go into great detail of that in your op ed. can you tell our audience what are you expecting from the international community at this moment in time? >> let me say, i'm a lawyer myself and my colleagues, who

have spent their lives fighting for women's rights, fighting to prevent violence against women have been devastated. israelis are at forefront of the international bodies, fighting for women's rights, especially during conflicts. we would expect some sort of condemnation, there was nothing, absolute silence from organizations who were created, their purpose to prevent violence against women. to help women, to fight for women's rights and at this critical moment, this very critical moment, they have failed us. they failed us as woman, not only israeli women, not only victims of this attack, but unfortunately, maybe women that

mercy of lincoln and begs and abraham lincoln writes first reprieve of execution, first turkey pardon in the white house and that tradition continues today. 1863, big year for the country, year lincoln signs emancipation proclamation, he pardons tad's turkey and fixes last thursday in november as thanksgiving national holiday. in the proclamation, i will read something you wrote. it tells what this holiday is supposed to be. he wrote, this is a moment to beg god in penitence for national perverseness to implore almighty hand and heal the wound of the nation and restore peace, harmon and he tranquillity. never intended to be feast of gluttony, it was a feast of thanksgiving.

socks, food and basic medical supplies. but today is thanksgiving. dinner or not. we put it out there, absolutely we want this. we felt on two levels, there was notern we could reach, we are doing thanksgiving meal in a box, we put mashed potato, turkey, green beans, small apple pies, little center pieces for them and send toula the bases where we got soldiers who ask us to get meals so hundreds went out this morning. we can't get to all the soldiers all the way down south or up north. tonight we'll have several hundred meet us in jerusalem.

have happiness in their pictures and normality. base named after michael levin, can you tell us about him? >> he was a lone soldier from philadelphia. he fell in second lebanon war in 2006, he always talked about difficulty of being a lone soldier. you don't have your mom to do your laundry and said, i will set up a center where soldiers can go when they are off base. that is his legacy. we don't want people to feel the hardship and we want to keep michael's dreams alive. >> carley: so many lone soldiers are american citizens. thank you for taking care of them and bringing a smile top their faces.

cookbook, it is my grandma's recipe. she found it in a newspaper clipping 50 years ago but made it her own and you also made tweaks. apple cake, thanksgiving in a pan. what you do is you have sugar and eggs. mix and wicks them together. >> mix them until they're stiff. >> carley: you put all the dry ingredients in. >> then the oil. >> carley: pour the oil in. i don't know if they're in this order. the spices, cinnamon, what's this? baking soda and salt and then you whisk and mix. >> it will be very stiff. >> carley: after that look at this. i'm cooking with a baby on my arm. can we get a shot of this? in goes the apples, in goes the
